I wish RUclips had a love button. Because I loved this video ! Such a great video
Haha hell yea this was a sick video. 🔥🔥🔥
Agreed!! Loved this!
Been watching since he bought the miata. Originally Adam was supposed to buy it for … but Taylor bought it instead
I honestly forgot that was the orogin story of that car but now that you mention it I can remember what I ate for breakfast that day. Crazy how time flies. @@TheMytube911
@@TheMytube911came here to say the same
I wanna know how many people have been watching since T was working outta that little 1 bay garage, long before the miata had an LS in it. Lol
Was around for that, didn’t watch him all of the time but watched him on occasion, remember the first gem Cummins ?
@nineninesixteensixteen2386 omg that square body was sick m. Wish he could do another, but better. With his knowledge of cars and trucks now he would make a sick 1st gen!
First time finding out about TR was when he hooked up Donnie for Cleetus
Dude hell yea. Back when he had the 1st gen Cummins!
Yesssir. C5, 1st Gen, miata blown motors all the time it felt like, etc. Been here for what feels like forever at this point.
You might want to run a dehumidifier in there to take some of the water load off of the AC units. I did that in my garage back when I lived in West Palm Beach and that helped a ton.
He definitely should!!!
+1 dehumidifier did wonders after i put ac in shop
A/c tech, the reason for the nasty blower wheels is the standing water. That gunk is a mix of mold and dust clumps that accumulate over time, with extreme moisture and dark conditions it doesn't take long
Been waiting for this title since you first mentioned the loft build! buzzing!
LITERALLY, i’ve never clicked on a video so fast in my life
+1 here !! Was waiting for that vid for a long time !!!
@@cactus04svt22even “major upgrade” videos that seamed to be loft building and turned out to be something else 😂
@@xiukn8he kept trolling us, every time I thought it was about to happen he installs shelves instead.. and then built the table. But finally!!
I think I'd put that air compressor out there to the pump house and run the line into the shop underground. You've got plenty of room for it since you cleaned it out! Then you won't have to hear that loud ass compressor running while your working! Im sure it's pretty loud inside that building! You'd have to move your 220 power out there but I think it would be well worth the time, money and effort! I freakin' HATE a loud ass compressor!
Cant wait to see these mezzanines complete with steps!!
Came here to say the same thing
I guess he dont use it so often since he has electric wrenches. Only use it for tire mounting
I was thinking the same idea. With making a concrete slab outside the shop and mounting the air compressor on that. Both really good ideas.
Could also put it outside the back wall under the lean to and just make a small enclosure to protect it from the elements. The pump house is pretty far away to have to run 220
@@caseyfellers2316 The well should have 220 out there already.
Im 30 now and i live vicariously though Taylor. He is my spirit animal haha. Love all the variety of content 🤟
Put the compressor outside on a pad. May not seem like it but the space it opens up will be more than welcome.
I'd paint the bottom of whatever flooring material before installing it. Especially if you want to keep the framework black. Obviously you'll be putting lights underneath so I'd maybe paint them white to help reflect light. Just an idea, it's going to look nice and improve your workshop whatever you choose to do.
I remember when Taylor first started building the Miata. His dream was to put these lofts up and after 15 years his dream has become a reality.
15 years??
ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME TAYLOR
🤣🤣I mean, you can't say he hasn't been busy lol
Haha factssss 😂
You should move the compressor outside under the back lean you built
That Bendpak lift is such a cock block in the workshop. Especially with so much space around the side of the building.
Can you imagine if it wasn’t there and he could put a 2nd floor on half the shop for storage etc. put a lean to for cars off the side of the shop.
It would have been so much nicer to have the rear door off to the side and line the lift up with that, and then have a single 20ft wide lift. He could have still done that, but it would have meant moving the roll-up door
@@AW-yv9sqAbsolutely this. Such an ass from elbow way of doing it.
So much space taken up by things sitting doing nothing. Equivalent of painting eyes on his glasses and wondering why he can't see.
The entire layout of his workshop annoys me so much 😂 all the garage doors are on the wrong side
@@claybrinkman533I've been saying this since I first saw this shop layout. I never would have put that bay door in the center of the back wall. That stacker is such an enormous waste of space. Half of Taylors videos are now just moving stuff around inside a very poorly setup space. There's so little room to actually do any work.
Next video Taylor has decided to switchs the cross beams cause they drive him crazy being the wrong way lol
Mini splits are not good at removing humidity fyi. You may want to throw a dehumidifier in there for pulling the extra humidity out.
You could put the stairs against the back wall that way you don’t block the front of the loft with it and it will make it feel more open
Stairs in the back and overhang in the front.
The most awaited project since the shop build itself
Those blower wheels on the mini split come out pretty easy. Usually just a screw on the right side. They’re super easy to pressure wash after they’re out! Just an fyi for next time
Great to see! I give 8 weeks before the hangout loft turns into "temporary" storage.
A big overhang would be cool, also a walkway behind to get back and forth would be helpful probably. Put some sort of diamond plate down between the loft platforms maybe? On the hang out side you should do some sort of wall covering too.
yes to all of those things, i hope he does
For the stairs, could you put them on the outside wall, or near it? I know the AC unit is there, but if you could kick the steps out 18" and have them over there, it could give you a little more room in the center of the shop. Looks like R2 is proving his worth yet again!
I keep checking back in for part two.
Just living my dream. One day I’ll get there. Great work Taylor.
Hell yeah! Favorite youtuber, dropped a shop upgrade vid. Cannot wait to finish watching this one 😁
Its good to see Jose in the shop helping out .
Patience paid off big time. Those lofts are great.
Loft time loft time loft time heck yeah
Yes! another check list item done. What's next? A drag strip pass on the green truck? Or a klutch kickers win with the Vette?
Klutch kickers isn't a thing currently, hard to tell if it will cone back or not. Heard lots of drama in regards.
@@codycollins8415 they bought a new track one or two months back. They're trying to be back ASAP
Definitely have a dehumidifier in the garage to help the AC units pull moisture out of the air.
Another brilliant video, you’re so talented!
Im so happy for you dude. Ive been following you since you painted the miata the first time and this project is on my top list of projects you have done so far haha! And I am so excited to see you drift agian, cant wait!
I'm honestly surprised you haven't moved the air compressor out of the shop. Could go in a little Hush House behind the shop and clear up a few more feet of shop space.
That blower wheel comes out of the mini split head fairly easily. There is a set screw on the right side then it pulls out the left side.
I installed hundreds of these units in Middle East. The trick is you need to install 1 inch slop down towards water drain hole,
Condensate water must drain as fast as possible and the only way to slop 1 inch no less no more. I get when you look at it,
It look like crooked or unprofessional installed it but that’s the way it works great. The reason air blower is so close any water it picks up and drops comes out. Good luck.
Looks good, hope you're gonna finish it nicely and make it a great lofty place to think up amazing great things!
Who knew 10 years ago you would be doing this, everything changes. Wish to have one of the look down areas in a shop with glass windows they just look so cool
Someday I truly hope Taylor will devote as much time to his racing program as he has playing carpenter/shop builder.
Imagine the possibilities.
We need pt 2 yesterday!
Taylor you could have gained an extra inch or two if you cut a hole in that pillar by the plug on the wall. Basically a hole to let the plug come through and still be accessible but still give you that extra little space upstairs. I know, not the ideal situation to cut into your new stuff, but it might come in handy later on.
I understand your Tokyo Drift dream. Something to consider is that heat rises. The top lofts will be hotter always then the main floor, without it be walled off and its own AC. Then you also lose the loft feeling. Just something for you to think about
So excited to see the shop coming together as you first envisioned it a loooong time ago.
DANNGGGG Taylor that came out so nice! I wish my shop was bigger so I could do that. Straight goals my guy! 🫡👏🍻🔥🔥🔥🔥 love it man. Great job.
Hell yeah! Shop upgrades are best upgrades. I’m so excited to watch this come together. Congrats!
I'm gonna guess the truckdriver was very happy to see your forklift when he came to unload.
Would probably not have been so fun without it.
Finally!! Was just thinking i need some taylor ray in my life
Wow! Look at the directions manual😮💨 Nothing but a thing for Taylor!!
Don’t forget to clean your outside condenser coil. Do not use a pressure washer or it can bend the fence. Just use a water hose with a spray nozzle. Just not too hard. You can use some coil cleaner on it and you’ll get even better performance those are usually the dirtiest
LOFT CONTEEEEEEEENT!!!!🥹
That pallet truck is a life saver!
Could definitely use a set of jackshaft overhead door openers.
I'm surprised you didn't think about the fact that if it didn't fit perfectly - it's metal, you're not stuck with just the adjustments they built into it. You could always drill another hole to have the bolts exactly where you wanted, or slightly elongate a hole to make it fit perfectly wherever you needed.
I know your feel Taylor, i have a area with wooden beams and rotten planks in my barn that i'm actually renovating, i can't wait to have this project finished :D
Don't forget to consider lighting under there, once the flooring is on, you will lose a lot of lighting from the overheads, a set of stairs on rollers with locking wheels that can be stowed away under the flooring would save on overall room, then you could use the 1 set of stairs for both sides? (may just be a headache to move if you have a car in the middle space)
So excited for this build, been a long time coming
The rain ASMR in the background was a nice touch. 👌🏻👌🏻
So satisfying remembering the first time Taylor mentioned he wanted to do this and now it's officially happening
Mini splits. The outside needs to be cleaned. Use simple green to clean the outside radiator thing. If the head leaks go outside and use a vacuum to suck the water line. Get the fin cleaner for the inside split or use hydrogen peroxide.
6:16 wax'd laces will keep the doggos caged up =)
Nice looks amazing quality
Did him an his olelady spit up? Havent seen her or her vehicle in a while
Long have we waited for the Loft build series. I am here for it. Let the good times roll!
I suggest you paint/seal the decking (both sides) before installing. Add a little sand into the paint for that non-slip goodness. When you adjust the conduit on the wall, change it from an obstacle to an opportunity for adding power up and lighting down. Could you build extensions onto/into the posts and add a tire rack(s)?
Blow and clean out the outdoor units as well!
Never clicked so fast
Awesome video, I’ve been very excited about the lofts. I’d love to build one in my shop eventually. I’m a fourth year Architectural Engineering student and just thought I’d mention that the “beams” you’re referring to are actually columns (the vertical members). Beams would be the horizontal members of the floor essentially, which then end at the girders. The girders being the horizontal members between columns that all of the beams tie into! Hope I’ve taught some people a thing or two about structural engineering! Great vid and I can’t wait to see it finished with the hangout area!
One thing to consider that I thought of when you mentioned possibly moving the one mini-split is that you might still want to consider doing something for your AC up in the lofts. It's not a secret that heat rises and in a space with that much height, all of your cold air is going to hang out down low meaning your lofts could feel pretty warm. You could still move one of those wall fan coils up to the loft but it would probably be a bit complicated and honestly, not necessarily the best performing option since the lofts will be open and most the cool air will still just fall down to ground level. I'd consider looking into a large diameter ceiling fan for the middle of the shop(something like Big-Ass Fans) with a thermostat control. Those are pretty good at circulating the air to get a more even temperature throughout the space. It would most likely help the lofts and also could enhance the rest of the shop's comfort as well.
You should finish the underside in white panels with pot lights. Then it won't matter that the beams look like.
@15:30 your backs must’ve been sore the next day 😂😂
Good idea to hose out the fins on the external units regularly too, just stay away from the electrical area (easy done). Remove cover and fan and hose debris from the inside outwards
U were talking about the stair case being to far out, the steal your using is slotted and bolted together u could always drill more slots to make it just a little smaller. I built a lot of buildings using that system as the roof and around skylights and doors in buildings, the owner sometimes changes the door or window layout mid build so u add more slots/another piece and or chop some off
Sweet I love it. I used lattice in my basement to hide the floor joists. Metal screen which comes all different sizes may help to hide the fact you wanted to turn the frame 180. Try a piece and see
Dude, I was so ready for you to start this project I'm excited. I have been watching your channel for a long time ago I love the hard work and dedication You definitely take pride in building your cars.
Why is it that only Taylor can make video and for ten minutes it about cleaning a air conditioner and we are here for it and enjoy it lol
THE DAY WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR #BUILDTHELOFT
The most anticipated lost installation on youtube. Can't wait for part 2!
I still believe you would be happier shifting the stacker directly behind one of your two posts and building one large loft instead of two smaller ones. Would be easier to get cars onto it. And make accessing the rear middle door easier
Ive put up a couple lofts in my day. That kit looks fantastic, well built with many options.
I got same size shop I was going to build mine out of wood but now I'm going to just get one of these looks great.
Clean the fins for the exterior radiator for the HVAC--the outside unit
Been around since the bc days . Still my favorite channel
It's always great seeing the shop transform. It looks good.
love the shop what a dream
Should put everything heavy, tire machine & air compressor, on makeshift pallets. 😂
I’d say metal skids. Use a couple pieces of box tubing big enough for the forklift tines to go through and bolt it to the bottom. It would have made moving them around much easier
There are some diy filter boxes for the mr cool units that allow you to run a real fliter which you need in a shop setting. A good hepa filter for the ac units would help your whole garage and the ac units.
Cleaning split units was super common for me back home tropical climates will gunk them up really bad. The old school method is a sheet metal trough hung around the ac unit then using a pump bottle to spray clean the coils and fan. The humidity causes mold to build up really fast
This video was incredibly entertaining, loved it!
Good height, someone can chill in the passenger seat of the Miata.
I've been waiting for this ever since u built the shed lol
Dude I've been looking forward to this since the first mention of the loft but seeing what you bought to do it with made it sooo much more awesome. That kit is just so perfect I thought you'd just build it yourself out of wood or metal but man a good well built kit like that powder coated and adjustable is so freaking nice and saves so much time and effort and I think the end result will just be so much better then you would have built from scratch "no offense" but also the fact that if you ever move you can take it with you or if you ever really change the shop up those things are basically modular to fit so many different ways. So I for one am so stoked to see the final result
One of the most anticipated Taylor videos to date
Can't wait to see it all come together, looks like a solid plan for the 2nd loft 👍
Clean your outdoor condenser to!
That makes it so easy. Congrats on the next step to finishing the garage.
You should include a motorized lift for the lofts. I bet you can fabricate it really easily. I have a 30x30 garage and looking to do that.
Not going to lie, I love listening to the sound of the rain on the roof of the shop.
Thinking out of the box
4 post mezzanine on the floor 10ft high second mezzanine floor 10ft then do a metal roof with metal trusses
Do a tiny home or another shop mail order nuts bolts and only concrete in a bucket on the corners
I’d make a exterior cover put the compressor outside
Awesome content
Imagine all the mould spores those machines were blowing on you, I am surprised you both didn’t get really sick. Nice mezzanine kits for sure 👍
Maybe it's just me but I am not sure about something like this "exceeding expectations" is a good thing. For something like this, I would make sure I knew exactly what I was getting before committing. But it looks great and all's well that ends well. Love watching the evolution of TR's shop.
You can get yellow extension forks for your walkie stacker unit FYI and then you would not have to pay for lift gate service it would handle that long pallet
They slip on and off just put them on when needed. Amazon or ULINE
I do need to get those. But I need new wheels for it. The drive wheel is so worn the machine sits like 1/2” off the ground so it frames out very easily. So I don’t think I could make it to the road at the moment. Lol which most trucks that deliver freight deliver with a full size semi truck.
In a workshop you gotta clean your filters almost weekly, the fans build up static electricity and overpower the statitc filters when they get dirty, ie the dirt just goes through the unit and sticks to the fan.
