My lavatory didn’t. It got nicked. I phoned the police. They conducted house-to-house enquiries, all to no avail. Unfortunately, they had nothing to go on. Now that’s what I call lavatory humour!……..I’ll get my coat.
One funny thing to note is that the doctor's name is "Octor D'Quincy" even though he "dropped the d because it was a frivolous affectation". Those details are 👌
I'm born '90, and I watch it too... I first saw them on a free DVD with Wooster and Jeeves from the Telegraph, and i got hooked. They're absolutely brilliant!!!
Stephen Fry did a Radio 4 series around this time called 'Saturday Night Fry', it is exactly this type of humour and the episode I heard recently was excellent.
Alexander Kings I believe (I’m not an expert) that it’s a reference to descendants of nobility who used to have a surname starting with d’ - as in d+apostrophe - dropping that d’ in order to seem more ‘common’.
Hugh Laurie is in pyjamas, and this is unusual to me coz I think of him as Dr House or the Prince in Blackadder.. Stephen Fry is in a white coat, and it's the most natural thing in the world to me..
I hope my reply finds you well, as it has been 15 years since you posted this comment. As clever as this was, I like to think that even if the audience had surprised them with the other choice, they would have had a pre-planned dialogue just in case, to either insult the audience and/or redirect them to the "I've Got Rather a Sore Body." sketch. lol. Cheers!
The label. That's the British word for it. But you're right. "St Michael" was a brand name used by the company Marks & Spencer, back in the day. According to an article from "The Telegraph", they originally registered the brand name in 1928 but abandoned it in 1999. So this sketch is a little dated.
I wish I were born in the 70's so I could grow up watching this. But no, I am an 90's child, and what do we get? Little Britain... Apart from That Mitchell and Webb Look, and possibly a few others, modern sketch shows are dire. Look at Horne and Corden; how the hell THAT can be called comedy, I'll never know.
I was born in the 1970s, and I can assure you that most of the stuff on television during my childhood was dire, too. My memory of the typical evening's televisual entertainment is of endless nauseating "variety" shows. "A Bit of Fry & Laurie" was good, but there was little else to match it at the time. From the 2000s, I think you can easily match Fry and Laurie with Mitchell and Webb.
Now don't you two pretend that you don't like lavatory humour! You first worked together on Blackadder, and every other word out of Rowan Atkinson's mouth on that show is ‘moist’ or ‘nipple’!
Ahh yes Lavatories. Love them or loathe them, they are here to stay.

Stephen Fry is always disgustingly gorgeous, but especially in this sketch.
I love it when Hugh Laurie just repeats 'nipple' looking really pleased with himself XD
Good thing Fry played the part of the doctor. Dont think laurie would be a good fit for such a part.
don't be dirteh, I'm sure you know the rules be now
Yep he wouldn't make a good doctor lol :-D
well certainly not with a british accent anyway.
Brad Mclean One would have to be hopelessly addicted to painkilling drugs to think so.
Oh, very droll.
0:21 Stephen Fry is seriously channeling "Help" era John Lennon in places here. That hair is spot on Lennon.
I love the way that Stephen Fry looks at the audience with disgust at 3:15 upon saying the word "nipples".
its because people often mistake his last name as nipple, but its actually nippl-e
*drops lighter on counter*

"Would you rather I pushed it out of my nose?"
Why, Hugh? Why would you inflict that image upon an unsuspecting world?
Gosh, they're so young here!
"It's 'octor,' not 'doctor' -- I dropped the 'D,' considered it a frivolous affectation." I am SO going to say that to a patient one day!
And what was their reaction?
I don't get it.
Alexander Kings I believe (I’m not an expert) that it’s a reference to descendants of nobility who used to have a surname starting with d’ - as in d+apostrophe - dropping that d’ in order to seem more ‘common’.
@@ZumbaMarx Thank you very much.
its been 6 years, did you?

Wish I met a nice guy just like Stephen fry. He is a wonderful man and he is the sort of man I'd like to spend my life loving.
i love how fry n laurie knew which sketch the audience would want. like they previously set the stage to what they thought the audience would choose.
I hope my reply finds you well, as it has been 15 years since you posted this comment.

Ahh, Stephen and the word "moist".
"What, you want my address? Or do you want 'Mr Nipple''s address?"
:-D
At least Hugh didn’t have lupus.
It’s never lupus
Born 84 - Fry and Laurie are classic! (And Stephen Fry is a darling)
My god, this audience deserved it!
amazing minds!!!!!! i love these two sooooOOo much!
LOL this is the most intellectual lavatory humour I've seen XD
Was Stephen Fry straight, ladies would go mad...At least I do ♥
I think he discovered he was homosexual before he went to jail.
Same here
@@bradameerbeg6422 what does this mean? Before?
@@ivanriverooo he went to jail when he was 18 or something. It means he has never in any way fancied girls.
He was so superb in the tux as Jeeves. Plus I love tall men. We can at least admire.
Hands up if you miss the eighties!
OMG, they're so young.... DAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW
Peep Show is actually my favourite programme ever, but thank you for the other recommendation. I shall check it out : D
Hahaha! I wish comedy was like this nowadays!
the way stephen says "moistness" *faints*
Hugh: you old dog!
Stephen: *laughs* you're still going to die though!
😂
They look so young!
moistness new favorite word
This Sketch was on Alfresco in 1984.
STEPHEN IS YOUNG!!
"Loud cracking or flapping noise" 🤣
Exceptional.
I'm either going to become a priary care physician or an octor. You see I've dropped the M and the D.
They are so young here.
Hugh Laurie in a character in a hospital...what are the odds of that :)
I have exactly the same looking tie as what fry has :D
Rip earphone users at the begining😰
We British do enjoy our bottom jokes!
Groovy music.
yeah... i love it when they get pissed at the audience
Genius percolating, not quite ready for prime-time yet, but percolating
Stepppppppphenn
Damn that NHS joke 😂
They look so young in this
It's a bit surreal seeing a young Steven Fry.
You're welcome buddy. Since you love Peep show, I'm sure you'll love Coupling too.
'Rummage' is an acceptable medical term.
Just waiting for ryk mayall and ade to crash through
Oh, do we play "Who's the youngest?" game?:)
I'm born in "93, but one of my friends watches it as well. I dragged her into it.
It's so brilliant. xD
Check out the BBC comedy series 'Coupling' if you like sharp observational humour, or C4 comedy series Peep show. Both brilliant.
yeah, I was born in '83...and am one of the only ones my age that know of Fry and Laurie. proves what a geek I am! :D
Omg.. Stephen is so handsome here! *sigh* It sucks that I was born in the wrong decade.
Geez this could almost be Mitchell and Webb (looks- wise)
House and Harry Potter. Classic
teeheehee he said bottom :)
Lol Laurie's the patient... XD
For some reason Hugh reminds me of the Malcom in the middle guy at some parts... Only the way he looks though lol
Hahah the Doctor read the etiquette on the pyjamas and assumed that's his name hahah oh man I love british humour

Disgustingly??? He was just genuinely good looking (skinnier) back then.
Ploppies
@09cansucancan That doesn't mean I don't want to spend my life with him xD
Jobbie
'Moistness' . . . . . .
I used to like Fry and Laurie, but now they have descended into this sort of filth, I can never enjoy their work. So sad.
Ploppies....
They look like the typical House and Wilson.
the other one is dressed like wilson, and his hair looks so much like him
"genital fungus" that's the one i think
I thought they were going to discuss gender fluid at one point.
