Since 2017, I church hopped trying to find a pastor that didn’t just tell stories & anecdotes, but dove into the whole Bible & encouraging followers to focus on getting closer to Christ. I haven’t found any yet. It’s mostly good music, activities & programs to get people to come & bring their tithes & offerings.
For me, the process is called reconstruction, beginning with getting rid of false teachings I fully believed for over 40 years, pausing to heal from the grief, then carefully and fearfully rebuilding from the foundation up. It's been the hardest journey ever, but the most necessary. I'm so grateful the Lord rescued me.
Thank you Julie for this podcast. I went through a prosses while I was housebound and sick. For two years I faced horrible physical suffering in my life. I revisited why I believe what I belive. I came through it a biblical Continuationists. Divine healing is for today. God helps us during sickness and suffering. God bless you
"losing my faith" in the long run was my best event, because it led to me "regaining" it. Of note to this video, a good part of "losing" my faith was getting booted out of a church for having the "wrong" thoughts about something tertiary (tithe or else). My foundation was on something shaky to start with.
I was told. While I was a being delivered in the meeting…. By Jesus. Himself. And then…. Some large guy comes and throws his hand on my stomach and demands “I look at him straight in the eyes…….. literally forced me to gaze at him……then I get told. You’re disruptive…. Come on! It’s actually shocking. 😢
When you mentioned secondary issues, I completely agree. Old earth, women leaders, KJV only, etc plus all the myriad of dispensationalist views. Unfortunately I take issue with describing creation as in Genesis as a "secondary issue". It is definately not. Without the creation account, there is no fall of man and no inherent sin in all of mankind and no need of salvation. If evolution is true, then the Bible clearly fails to address why Christ and his cross are needed at all. Jesus himself clearly referred to the creation account plus Moses, Abraham, Solomon etc as literal events plus people. To disbelieve the creation account is to call Jesus a liar and to discount the need for his salvation. It is not a secondary issue.
The Lord is cleaning his church...deconstruction is God's restoration to truth... ( from my personal experience.) 14 years ago i left the laodicean church and joined the philadelphian church.❤... rev 3
Thank you both for this much needed message to the body of Christ!! I have been saved for over 50 years and I spent a summer in Switzerland at L’Abri studying under Francis Schaefer shortly after my salvation. In addition I was introduced to the supernatural and miracles soon afterwards due to singing in the choir at a Kathryn Kuhlman meeting, both of which made me realize that I would never be content with religion and the dead formality I have experienced in most of the churches I have attended. I also have gone through spiritual abuse many times. Due to health issues I have been not able to attend recently any worship services but my relationship with Jesus is closer than ever and I have fallen deeply in love with him. I am grateful that He’s been so faithful and am praying fervently to find my tribe to fellowship with and serve him. So heartbreaking that so many believers have, like me been ostracized and rejected for being honest and standing up for the truth as they see it. 💔❤️🩹
Former Pentecostal/ Charismatic here. I don't really like the word, "decontruction". I call it longing for the real, organic meetings, like the book of Acts church. I left organized religion maybe 30 years ago. I've been hosting house meetings off and on that long. We are a group of friends who are more like family. We eat together and lift up the name of Jesus in our lives. We use the gifts the Lord has allotted to us. We give to the poor that are in our group and outside the group as the Lord leads, and we share the Gosple. We preach the Kingdom and believe Christians are post trib. Everyone is equal in speaking and interacting. Our motto is that "God wants a family, He wants you in it." Families are not a spectator sport. It's for freedom Christ has set us free.
I love this. What you're doing is what I've really been feeling and wanting in my own life. I just was thinking last night about what "house church' would look like and everything you described was what I felt God was showing me or what was on my heart
Julie. Absolutely love this…. I had to leave my home town. And go 12 thousand miles away to find the true Jesus. If some could please answer a question? Is being a pastor a “JOB” ? Or a calling? Have so many things to discuss but all my “friends” follow blindly this so called pastor. So can’t go there for help. …. Love your pod casts as they really help. Thankyou
Deconstruction can definitely be the right word if we are willing to be explicit with it and admit we did what jesus described as foolishness and built the house on sand. Best to tear it down with our own hands and rebuild fresh on the rock of obedience to the Word. So grateful for the gift of repentance in my own life. The semantics of the term can be firmly rooted in Christ’s parable and so is a fully sufficient analogy! but it’s up to us to define it clearly if we use it! And best for us in our testimony of “deconstruction to not generalize but be specific in the ways we have strayed or been led away from obedience and how we are returning to alignment with the truth.
No one who actually knows someone who has been through deconstruction would ever call it sexy. Losing the identity, community, and life you've spent 30 years building is excruciating and traumatizing. You shall know them by their fruit...
Gr8 Show! It helps me! I'm in the deconstruction but am one of those 14% percent that actually walked away. I just think I couldn't see clearly if I were in the building. Had to do a total elimination to reconstruct! 😅
If we take the verse, “Train up a child…” and look back at the last 60 years, we see one of the roots of the problem. Over the years, we moved the children out of the sanctuary, got rid of boring theologically rich hymns, got rid of midweek prayer meetings, often Sunday evening services went with them, exchanged exegesis for narcigesis, exchanged discipleship for personal experience, hymnals for big screens, a simple piano and organ for a full band and or orchestra, intimate fellowship with people who knew you for anonymity of a large crowd, a pastor greeting you at the end of service at the door for a celebrity being rushed out the back, we traded the simple yet deep for the shiny and shallow. I think the deconstruction started decades ago. What we are seeing is not deconstruction, but reconstruction and resuscitation of a near dead church. Those deconstructing are those children who had no training, but were well and proper entertained and fed a nutrition-less diet and are starved for a real meal and seeking a small simple table to dine on the meat of the Word with fellow Christ seekers and followers.
Really good talk 😊 I think deconstruction has been happening on an even wider scale than the church. Everything we've been taught about the systems, history, cosmology, and reality itself has had huge numbers of deconstructors. I believe it's a pouring out of truth.
Great podcast! O my so grateful this showed up on utube just now I’ve been on deconstruction since 1979! Chuckling because I thought I was one finding out I’m one of thousands! The ALMIGHTY calls those to stand alone teaching them HIMSELF to NOW forward to be for those who really are finding out the building called the church is not ‘the ecclesiastical body’! 😉 I’ve never called myself a Christian or born again I’m a follower of Jesus and how HE taught what the true Kingdom of GOD truly is. HE brought doctrine relationship not a religion! I will pray to travel to Arizona in February 2025.
I think its a pity you're going into theological doctrinal differences, because your journalistic exposures have been amazing even beyond amazing, exposing abuse and corruption. If you start promoting one doctrine over another people will judge your ability to do the journalistic work of showing truth ( not in terms of doctrines). It is unfortunate but i do think it is the case. I can and willseparate. Most people i personally know who have "deco structed" their faith, dont believe in sin anymore, are universalists, reject the idea of hell, and ultimately dont believe the inerrannce of the Bible... so it is questionable... in any case i personally think your journalistic work has been and is outstanding, exposing evil sych as the daystar debacle mike bickle and even michael brown's sad and yet insane behavior. Well done for all that. And blessings in your work as a journalist also in the future 🙏
Mrs. Roys, you are almost an ideal of the enlightenment liberal. You affirm that theology takes a backseat to “being nice to others” and admit that fundamental principles of reality, such as old earth creation vs young earth creation, “are secondary issues.” You say you attended a panoply of denominations but your “theology never changed.” This is Bentham’s utilitarianism with some emotional social welfare and sentimental harm avoidance added on. I think you should read some of the history of philosophy from the 17th century to clarify your thoughts.
People backslide because they want to sin. They offer many kinds of excuses--some of which highlight real problems--but there is no good reason to turn away from the living God.

The term deconstruction means what it means. Choose a different word. Inaccurate words used by leadership creates confusion.
People backslide because they want to sin. They offer many kinds of excuses--some of which highlight real problems--but there is no good reason to turn away from the living God.
A lot of people backslide due to circumstances in attempt to numb pain…
None righteous among us... We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God... Your the problem.
And your a sinner as well. Like the Apostle John said "Love one another".
Judgment needs to stop and you need to pray for people not condemn them.
