Hi Scott, I could be wrong, but I think that you don’t have the intro proper. Instead of doing the hammer on’s of the D string what I hear is a see, pull off on the a string, third fret, and a B, pull off on the same string, then a pull off from the third fret E string pull off (tuned to D, of course) then a hammer to B then the same type of hammer on the D string open the hammer to the second fret to E, bac to D. That is exactly what the bass player is doing. Like I said, I could be wrong, but I’ve been listening to this song and playing it for 40 years and I’ve never seen or heard that series of pull offs on the D string. I’ve never heard and you know that goes that high either way, I appreciate your video, and like I said I could be wrong, but I will qualify this by saying I have perfect pitch so I think either I’m not hearing those higher notes that you’re pulling off on one string and I just tear the base and copy that or I just can’t hear. Ha ha, keep it up bro I don’t mean to rain on your parade. It just threw me for a loop and I’m pretty sure that there is no one string call off of several notes. The first pull off note is actually C to A. Just my two cents you can delete this comment if you want I don’t even comment on this kind of stuff usually but like I said, I have perfect pitch and I was listening to the song earlier this morning and then your video popped up, and I saw the description and it didn’t match my ear. Maybe I’ll go to the ear doctor. Lol.
I kinda feel like hitting the B note on the 5th string instead of the C during the intro sounds good as well, the 6th instead of the flat 7th, any thoughts?
You have a gift for breaking things down and explaining them so they’re easily understood. You just earned another subscriber! Thanks!
This is a great lesson for a great song,
Thank you for sharing sir. I may be from the city, but I DO have long hair and I love this guitar playing and lyrics!
Always liked that song. Thanks for breaking it down, Scott.

Great lesson, How about The Ride by David Allen Coe?
Great tune! I've played it many times. I'll have to do a lesson on that one.
