  • New Age and the Charismatic Movement Part 2 with Steven Bancarz
In this episode, my friend Steven Bancarz came on the show to pick up where we left off, discussing New Age beliefs that are masquerading as a Christian world view. We spoke new age practices such as yoga, contemplative prayer, dream interpretation, and the pseudoscience of zero point energy.
Steven takes a good chunk of the show to quote from the charismatic book “the physics of heaven” to show how pervasive new age teachings have become in modern charismaticism.
THIS IS NOT AN ANTI CHARISMATIC/PENTECOSTAL VIDEO.
in this video, we only discuss the aberrant patterns of some popular but not normative views within the pentecostal-charismatic movement. Steven and I both believe the gifts of the Spirit are for today. Steven and I had a blast doing this episode and I plan to have him back soon to discuss more.

Please help tim keller flee catholism its corrupting his understanding of the gospel.
CAnswersTV. . - This personal testimony is for all the many people who contact me, Larry Wessels of Christian Answers through our RUclips channel at ruclips.net/user/CAnswersTV on a regular basis about having relatives or loved ones in the Roman Catholic religion or who have friends or relatives who are about to convert to Roman Catholicism. In my own case I was never a Roman Catholic but was rather raised in the Lutheran Church from birth. My problem, which is the same problem for almost everyone born into the world (unless you are John the Baptist - Luke 1:15, "For he will be great in the sight of the Lord; and he will drink no wine or liquor, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit while yet in his mother’s womb.") is that I was not born as a true "born again" Christian even though I was baptized as a baby to begin with (John 3:3-8, Romans 8:1-17, etc.) but rather born as a lost sinner (Psalm 51:5, Ephesians 2:1, Romans 5:12, 1 Corinthians 2:14, Titus 1:15-16, Jeremiah 17:9, Romans 3:10-18, etc.).
Being a lost sinner yet masquerading as a "Christian" although I didn't know it at the time because my parents made me go to their church as I grew up brainwashing me into believing I was a real "Christian" although I was evil as any unbeliever & more so when I got to college. As evil as I was on a regular & unrepentant basis, I justified myself that I was okay with God because I went to church every Easter & Christmas (although I skipped a lot of Easters) while I attended the University of Texas at Austin, Texas. This fake religiosity made me think I had a hellfire insurance policy so I was free to sin all I wanted & I did. With this type of of religious delusion going on in my life throughout my college experience it came to pass that I met my future wife my senior year who was born & raised a Roman Catholic. My opinion at that time was everyone who claims to be a Christian must be okay so being a Protestant or Catholic didn't matter at all. To make a long story short I ended up marrying my wife in the Roman Catholic Church to make her family happy although I remained a very nominal almost nonexistent Lutheran in name only.
After marriage I attended Roman Catholic services with my wife from time to time because she wanted it that way & to me it really didn't make any difference one way or the other. God, however, had other plans for me on May 16, 1981 about a year after we were married. That particular day I was supernaturally "born again" by the power of the Holy Spirit like the Bible talks about & suddenly everything in my life was turned upside down! For more on that see my testimony video "D & D Dungeon Master Testimony: Dungeons & Dragons, Wargaming, Violent Video Games & Wasting Time" at ruclips.net/video/V41a_5INzVY/видео.html .Wow what a change & suddenly when I read the Bible it started to actually make sense!
This sudden drastic change in my life obviously did not set well with my Roman Catholic wife. The more I studied & shared the Bible with her the more upset she got. She went to her friends for help & they told her I would get over this religious fervor in about six weeks and then I would return to my normal godless secular self. The problem for her was six weeks came & went & then months came & went & all I was doing was getting stronger in the Word of God & in my zeal for Christ.
Things really started hitting the fan when I started to tell her that her Roman Catholic religion contradicted what I was reading in the Bible. In fact, after I was "born again" on May 16, 1981 I only went one final time for a Sunday morning service with my wife to her Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Austin, Texas & immediately spiritually recognized this place was a tomb for the dead not a place to honor, praise & glorify the Lord Jesus Christ (I had never noticed that before I was "born again"). Once again, to make a long story short, my wife ended up getting enraged at me for attacking her religion & started to throw away Biblical study materials I was collecting. She started to use sex as a weapon & refused to sleep in the same bedroom with me until I repented of all this "Bible stuff" (this went on for almost two years). I was seriously thinking she was going to divorce me & leave me just as 1 Corinthians 7:15 says, "Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us to peace."
My wife's side of the family are all staunch Roman Catholics especially her mother who regularly went on pilgrimages down to Mexico to honor the Virgin Mary. This only increased the tension in my marital situation. More than once I got in some serious theological discussions with my wife's mother that got her blood absolutely boiling probably because she had no answers to anything I brought up from the Bible even though I was following the command of 1 Peter 3:15, "but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;" meaning I was trying to present to her Biblical information in a well meaning & kind manner without trying to start a fight. Unfortunately that situation with my mother-in-law came close to being a Galatians 4:16 occurrence, "So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?" Total destruction of our relationship was saved when I followed the Biblical command in Titus 3:10-11, "As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned." From then on I talked no more about the things of God with my mother-in-law thus we got along fine after that.
The strained marriage I had with my wife over religion finally came to an end somewhere in 1983 when my wife got the bright idea to have her two priests that she grew up with at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Austin, Texas straighten me out on the things of God since she didn't know enough of the Bible to refute me. My wife got her priests to schedule a meeting with me in their office to discuss with me why the Roman Catholic religion was the true Christian faith. I gladly accepted the invitation from the priests & arrived at the appointed time with my wife coming with me to see what would happen.
I have to say, after 39 years in public Christian ministry at the time of this writing, & after having been in more debates with people of multiple religious backgrounds than I can count, that this was the easiest debate discussion I ever had. For 30 minutes I lectured the two priests chapter & verse from the Bible while the priests struggled to quote two or three Bible verses they were aware of. This was a ridiculous encounter since the priests seemed to know next to nothing of scripture. This was like going into a cornfield & beating up on two scarecrows but more importantly my wife was there to hear it all. After 30 minutes the priests were done with the meeting & my wife was done with the Roman Catholic religion. After that my wife joined me in attending a good Bible based church & a couple of years later was water baptized thus rejecting the baptism she had as an infant in the Roman Catholic religion. Two days ago I was in the presence of the Holy Spirit, and was told my discernment would be elevated, that I needed to pay closer attention to my dreams, and that the gift of prophecy would be given in the moment it is needed to fulfill God’s will. When I gave my life to God I laid my life down on the alter to be His hands and feet while I am here. Each one of our gifts given by our Father will be different, because we each are walking a different life, filled with different problems we each will face, so that when we come across a brother or sister in Christ we may help edify and strengthen them, and to help to illuminate the path to repentance and restoration in the body of Christ. This podcast here helped me discern and truly see how narrow the path we walk truly is. I thank God that He sent His son Jesus to walk the path, and show us grace as we walk along, learning and growing in Christ; to help mature us in His way and His will.

I was similar to you but recently began speaking in tongues (I am speaking Arabic). Also, I've been having visions. All have lined up with scripture. All have edified other believers. Some have confirmed things from the Lord for people. I say all of this to say pray for truth. That's what I did, and the Lord showed me that I was denying His power to some degree. He used 2 Timothy 3:5 to get my attention. He wouldn't let me off the hook with that verse. My doctrine has not changed, other than I believe in all the gifts now. I think many of us in a cessationist or extreme skeptical view of the gifts (my view- they were only possible MAYBE for a missionary in an extreme remote village etc) is based on no experience of what these gifts SHOULD look like in a biblical function of them. When we see them used correctly, they're very amazing and undeniable that they're from the Spirit. In fact, the Holy Spirit used visions, tongues and interpretation of tongues, and words of knowledge for me to be able to lead THREE people to Christ this last week! These were 3 church people. All adults. All 3 different occasions. People everyone assumes truly knows Jesus. And the coolest part was I didn't do any of it. I didn't explain anything (keep in mind that all 3 already knew the gospel well as a head knowledge), but 2 out of 3 just, on their own at the Holy Spirit's prompting, said, "I'm not saved. I need to be saved." At this, I made sure they truly understood the Gospel and led them in confessing their faith in Jesus through faith in grace alone. It was the most supernatural thing I've ever seen! You could see the conviction that only the Spirit can bring. It wasn't man made guilt. Gosh, you would have had to be there to appreciate the awesomeness of it all. Anyway, I urge you to pray for truth. God has not changed. He used tongues, signs and wonders, prophets, etc. He hasn't changed. Sam Storms gives some very good scripture based exegesis on the spirtual gifts. Check out his articles, sermons, or books. He is also Calvinist but a Continuationist. Pray for truth. None of the true Church want to miss out on anything the Lord wants us to be using!

    • @deanag1043
      @deanag1043 3 года назад

And, I agree, so far, I have thoroughly enjoyed how Remnant Radio has handled the Believers both cessationist and continuationists. Instead of dividing the two, they are bringing us together. And I love this! I have a friend who puts a big X on the "charismatic" church in our town. I told her Paul doesn't do that to the church in Corinth. He doesn't call them false teachers as we tend to do. I told her Paul corrects them and calls them "brothers". So, clearly, they're Christians, even in using the gifts incorrectly. Since being filled with the Spirit, I have had opportunities to help some new "charismatic" friends with their incorrect doctrine in a few areas (I did pray and ask Jesus to fully immerse me in His Spirit and that's when I began speaking in tongues and prophesying). Also, I am not convicted that He is not preparing His Church for some things to come where we will need all the gifts of His Spirit to endure.

To know this was not of yourself and have God working through you, doing miraculous things to draw someone to Him, or even to just minister to that person through the power of the Holy Spirit--its such a gift/privilege to be used in that way.
And He's so perfectly faithful. When we trust Him for it He does it. It's heartbreaking that cessationists are so deceived into unbelief that they can't trust God for His promises. We're not perfect either --just different hang ups.

Blue Jay Aves I must confess to give a brief description will most certainly undermine the many high points and Biblical Scriptures used to prove the burden and purpose. Nevertheless I will try to give you some of it in short. The book deals with the root of all the issues, humanism. It is the first curse, Adam and Eve becoming as gods. The book reveals that through the three major epochs of world history (premodern, modern, & postmodern) humanity has been on a rapid digression from God and a rapid development of humanism, where we as humans become the god over our own individual world, creating our own truths and demanding that everyone accepts it. The book uses O.T. history, N.T. history, and world history to show this digression. It also shows how humanism has invaded Christianity (law of attraction/new age) and is portraying itself to be Christ. The beast of humanism is putting on the Christ-like mask and is changing LAWS and seasons. The apostate church is riding the beast of humanism and now humanism is destroying in our world everything that represents the true values of Christ. It is a flood of deception to carry the Church away and only the remnant of God’s true & faithful will survive it. 6=the number of man (humanism) and 3 of them is the symbol of epitome. Our God is holy, holy, holy (3 times for He is the epitome of all holiness) humanism will reach its peak, even being masked behind Christianity and will destroy all but God’s remnant. It’s the war of Christ vs anti-Christ, carnality vs Spirituality, certified Gospel vs perverted Gospel. This doesn’t do well justice but I pray this gives you a fair idea of the burden of the book

I remember when I came back to the Lord after walking away for over a decade, I started out mostly listening to the teachings of Bethel. (I need to add that I believe Bill and Kris are saved. I think they're just in error on some things. I still love them as my brothers in Christ. I hate the witch hunting going on!) So anyways, my focus started slowly shifting from wanting to know God, to wanting to always have an experience. I listened to so many supernatural testimonies that I developed an intense hunger for them.
One day I was "soaking" on my bed, and I really wanted God to speak to me or show me something. I hadn't been getting anything for a while and I was frustrated. He then showed me a vision of me sitting by the banks of this beautiful river. My feet were in the water. Then this river boat came up to me. It looked like an gypsy merchant boat. He handed me this golden, beautiful egg. I was mesmerized with it. After he left, I took the egg and dipped it into the river. The egg immediately turned into black muck and was washed away.
I think this vision speaks for itself in relation to what was going on at the time. I wrestled with it for a while. I eventually accepted I was off this area. I'm thankful for his hand over my life and in keeping me from straying from the truth. My desire for those things is now in a healthy, Biblical place. Paul says we should desire the gifts, but obviously they should never take precedence over Him. If I never see another vision, or I never have a supernatural encounter, I will still be full of joy and peace because I have the privilege of knowing God and having his Spirit live in me. That is the goal. That is my prize - Him!
This episode was so good! If I never have to hear "quiff popping" again I will die a happy woman 😂

Watching the Holy Spirit do ALL of it was amazing! Anyway, i agree 100% that witchcraft practices like tarot cards and lucid dreaming and all that have NO PLACE in the church or in any true Christian's life! But if the Lord does truly give a dream or vision, He always gives a meaning and has a purpose for it. We can't throw the baby out with the bathwater. I did that for 30 years of being a Christian. And I've seen in 1 week more true salvations than in 30 years of witnessing. I think many of us have relied on our own human intellect and ability more than we understand. Anyway, I do agree, but also know from experience now that God has not changed and He still uses dreams and visions and all the gifts of the Spirit to bring people to Jesus and/or edify His Church.

Thank you for this message. Growing up charismatic and also being very discerning with new age (yoga, being slain in the spirit dreams etc) this is so helpful.
One thing I would mention as a word of caution, I see at times you are laughing at the interpretations and ideas, please think of this from The Lords eyes, He doesn’t think this infiltration of false light is funny.
It also will not be received well by deeply deceived charismatics if you are laughing at them.
Please consider how you can have a spirit of gentleness to correct your deceived brothers and sisters in The Lord. It also comes across as pride.
Thank you for being willing to call this out biblically.

Great conversation. Having come out of the new age, I love the point made that we should focus on our relationship with God and knowing the Bible not so much any set formula or practice. Such a great message in closing. As a massage therapist I will say that Cranial Sacral (named for the area where the sympathetic nervous system is found) therapy is hugely helpful in treating clients because its focus is ensuring that the nervous system is working optimally. Great for injury rehab! It’s true that in his later years John Upledger used dolphins to treat patients at his dolphin retreat located on highway 1 on the way to Key West, Fl. The fact that what’s weird and unknown to the majority of believers makes it a tricky topic because it’s documented and did work. Wikipedia doesn’t agree but the people I’ve had on my table and helped would say otherwise. One caveat is to make sure that your therapist isn’t also doing energy work. God bless you all!

I love this discussion, what about being still and knowing that God is God with regards to contemplative prayer? When I heard about this I began to see myself just going in to be with my father. I didn't ask Him for anything or recite His word back to Him I was just with Him. It seemed to benefit me greatly and brought a lot of peace into my heart. For a time I needed God to silence my mind and renew it because all I heard was an accusing voice every time I went inside my mind to think. I filtered my prayers and identity through the lens of me being guilty and worthless. I should say that during this time I was reading my Bible and a professing Christian but I still could not seem to quiet my mind. Just some thoughts.

I do hope you realize that the phrase, by his stripes we are healed, has nothing to do with physical healing in that particular context. It is obvious from the rest of the scriptures around that particular phrase, that the author was talking about the physical bruising and Stripes of Christ causing the spiritual healing of all of those who believe on him. It's a type of parallelism contrasting the physical difficulties of one and the spiritual benefits of the other. Yes, there is instances of healing in the Bible. Yes, you can show why the church needs to pray for healing. But, by his stripes we are healed, is nothing to do with actual physical diseases or healing. People need to really stop grabbing texts out of context to shoehorn them into their pretexts

As far as the book at the beginning of this video- I haven't read it but as I'm sitting here listening to this, I see alot of what I've heard in churches and Christian groups being represented here. They don't describe the "physics" of it but I've heard the idea that when we as Christians speak things it happens. They use the Bible to back it up but it's never say right with me. As a mom, I don't condone when my children demand things of me. However, when they ask for things, I'm more likely to listen to their desires and needs, and I imagine God is the same way. He's the One with the power and the knowledge of what's best, and we aren't. I've literally seen people say "I decree and declare I'm gonna get this building for my ministry cuz I have the power to say so" and that just seems wrong to me. However, taking it to God in prayer and asking His blessing and open doors for it to happen if it's His will, that does seem right. Alot of these things that have been twisted like this, it seems like witchcraft with the label of Christianity on it.

The last part of this podcast really resonated with me. Having spent 46 years in the Pentecostal denomination, I’m recently in more turmoil over my view of correct theology than ever. There are so many teachings I have accepted as truth that are based on repeated man made tradition rather then proper interpretation of scripture. No man has all of the Bible precisely figured out, but to give certain aspects a pass, just because a said leader speaks it in the name of Jesus or under a Christian label is lazy and ignorant. Pentecostalism at best, has extremely questionable beginnings. It’s path of spiritual destruction in the modern church era, is something I have witnessed firsthand. I believe it is because of man’s tradition and a hyper focused view of the Holy Spirt joined with an insatiable desire to experience supernatural manifestations. This is how a denomination becomes an idol and stumbling block to true faith in Christ for a many. God have mercy on us.

Love it! Awesome information and great conversation. Thank you so much, each one of you, dear brothers in Christ. I find it so difficult to rightly divide new age from the charismatic church’s teachings, since I was not deliberately in the new age before my salvation (almost 2 yrs ago), but know now that I was, before my salvation, inadvertently in new age practices. Now as a believer I find myself nervous about being tricked into practicing cleverly disguised new age, since I had been following some teachers and practices that are not rooted in correct bible interpretation.
Can you recommend books and/or resources on how to better interpret scripture accurately?

The majority of Christians are simply lost and confused since they do not truly understand scripture or the promises of God. Having spiritual discernment is an essential part of the Christian life but yet many lack this wisdom plus it’s not what most Christians are believing it to be. I am someone who possesses this gift and I can tell you that it is very easy to discern a false teacher or any other person. Sadly, very few believers possess this ability even though it is available to everyone of them. Most do not know anything about it while many others just cannot comprehend the scripture about discernment. To gain the gift of discernment you must possess the wisdom to understand the 1 John 4 scripture that tells us how to test the Spirits. If you can grasp the meaning behind this scripture you will then realize that you can communicate to Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
After I discovered the secret behind testing the Spirits and I found that I could communicate directly with Jesus, I now possessed the wisdom to learn scripture directly from Him and I then became a true disciple. Over these last six plus years Jesus has taught and explained the scriptures to me and He has purified and sanctified my heart in God’s truth. And believe me when I tell you, that Sanctification is a very hard and time consuming process. There are many Christians who believe that they are sanctified or born again or filled with the Holy Spirit but Jesus has shown me how they are simply misguided and deceived and how they do not understand scripture. Since I have been sanctified this means that I am truly born again since my heart is now pure. Because my heart is pure this then means that I can no longer sin nor can I ever get sick again. And because I now know that I can never get sick again I do not carry health care or insurance and I just laugh at the hysteria and the ignorance that is surrounding this Coronavirus.
What many Christians fail to understand is that sin is the reason they have sickness in their lives. They also do not realize that a child of God can reach a place where he cannot possibly sin anymore. And if you reach this level where you overcome sin then the devil cannot touch you with sickness or disease, since Jesus is now present in your life.
“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.”
      ‭‭I John‬ ‭3:4-9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
“We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
      ‭‭I John‬ ‭5:18-19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
So why is it that sin brings sickness into our life? Well look here where God warned us about the consequences of sinning,
Psalm 107:17. “Fools, because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.”
Translated it is saying that you are a fool if you do not follow God’s laws and commands and you go and sin because then you will have pain, suffering and sickness. So this means that if you are someone who can get sick or someone who is currently suffering then you are a sinner who is not following God and you are simply following the devil lies. So once again, if are someone who can get sick then you are someone who is definitely a sinner. You may not be someone who is breaking the laws of men but you are most definitely breaking some laws or commands from God.
You see the majority of believers have been deceived by the devil into believing that forgiveness of sins is simply referring to our eternal salvation and that is so wrong. If you read Matthew 9:2, Mark 2:5 and Luke 5:20 you will notice that the man was immediately healed after Jesus forgave him of his sins. Also read John 5:14 and you will see how the healed man was warned not to sin anymore or that something worse would come upon him. These scripture are clearly relating to us that sin is the cause of our sicknesses and that we can reach a place where we can no longer sin. As I said above, I am someone who did as scripture instructed and so I can never get sick anymore since I have truly been born again and I now possess a pure heart that can no longer sin.
Now allow me to warn you about something. There are many deceived believers who will take a scripture like 1 John 8-10 and they will twist its meaning to claim that a Christian can never stop sinning. There are also many who will not accept or believe that sickness is because of sin. So do not fall for these deceptions of the devil since every Christian has the ability to overcome sin and the sickness or suffering that it brings. You just need to simply believe that it is possible to overcome sin and then have the desire to see it come to pass in this earthly life.
I Praise God for I am someone who has lived it, I have done it and I am now an overcomer who has truly been born again.
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭NKJV
“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
      ‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
In closing, Jesus had me do a video titled “How to Discern the Spirit’s” and I explain what the scripture is relating to us and how it is done. I also have a writing with the same title in the comment section of the video. If you would just take the time and pray to understand what I am relating in them and practice it when you are alone, I can promise you that it will change your entire life overnight. For you will now understand how to communicate with God and you can now have Him answer all the questions that you may have.

Jesus Is Lord and if you had read my message throughly you would understand that you are simply one of the many who are lost and deceived since I referenced how souls like yourself are clueless about 1 John 1:8-10’s meaning.
You are so misguided about God that you believe that this scripture means that a Christian will always sin. You cannot comprehend that this scripture is simply stating that everyone is born a sinner. It is saying that this is why we need to repent and confess our sins to God so that He will then forgive us. It is also stating that anyone who believes that they have never sinned is then calling God a liar. But nowhere is it saying that a believer will always sin as you so apparently desire to believe. Only a wicked evil person will believe that a Christian cannot stop sinning and that God will just forgive them for all the sins that they commit. So you had better wake up to reality and stop living in your delusions.

John Paul Jackson did have two courses on dream interpretation for over $300 each. A third course was required that taught about prophecy and being a solid christian according to his interpretation of Christianity.. He had some examples of symbol interpretation and charged a monthly fee of about $30 to access his website for more examples of the meaning of particular symbols. So even though he did not sell a book with the symbols, he made a lot of money on these courses and his website. He did teach how to determine if a dream was from God or not. He used ideas for some teachings that he said he got from the famous secular psychologist, Jung. Some of the symbols were based on the Bible meaning of words, but some were from people's experiences. They said that God often gave people their own set of symbols that were meaningful to them. The pastor of my home group that was under his ministry started getting into researching the occult and I ended up leaving. I have been just digging in God's Word since then.

I attended a conference at my church with NAR (todd white, Heidi baker etc) “pastors” and after the main event some stayed to “worship”. This consisted of todd white laying his hands on people like a shaman and commanding “more fire more fire”. In turn people would fall over and shake, sometimes laughing hysterically, other times just catatonic. I didn’t know what to think. Some people stayed laying for a few hours. It looked like a rave with worship music and no drugs. Bizarre.
Day 2 conference, other attendees started that maniacal laughter before we were even in the doors. They literally were falling over each other before the doors opened. They told me they were “in the spirit”. It seemed wrong and off. That’s when I really started to study the Bible.
After that I studied who the Holy Spirit was, what he does, and what is the fruit. That crazy laughter, rolling on floor out of minds is not the Holy Spirit. What I can’t figure out is if the pastors are in on it or deceived. Are they imparting demons? Are they demonic but still God works through them / their events sometimes? It’s all too weird and I just don’t get it.

My parents believe most of those wild manifestations are real and I'm not sure where to draw the line myself, but what I do know is I was seeking a supernatural experience for years, believing those moments were the point of my faith, meanwhile not even knowing the gospel!! That deception might've just sent me to hell. I also have decided I won't let just anyone lay their hands on me to impart something, pastor or not! It's not easy to sort everything, but what I do know is that I should study the Word more and listen to respected teachers to hear the various perspectives. It's disconcerting not knowing exactly what's real or not.

I would consider myself charismatic for sure. But I also love his Word and believe a grounding or foundation in the Word of God. It troubles me and saddens me that their are charismatics out there that give the whole a bad name

Enjoying your casts they are awesome ..... if we are a new creation and God has given us a new heart and we are born again of the Holy Spirit how can our heart be wicked and evil I dont agree with that in the new covenant .... can i sin yes i can flesh out but that does not make my heart wicked

Huh. That is weird. But… there ARE demonic spirits that interact with our world. It’s right that Steven ignored it, anyway. I fooled around in new age beliefs - that I didn’t know were new age. For a time, my house was disturbed. I prayed a lot and ignored it, no matter what. Over time, these episodes stopped happening.

Vain repetition in worship - yes that bothers me too. Seems like it is trying to produce an altered state in worshipers. Usually followed by the "receiving of tithes and offerings..." Angels singing holy, holy, holy - just discussing this with a Christian brother a week or so ago - could they be worshiping Father, Son, and HG? The classic hymn comes to mind. Last line in song is: God in 3 persons, blessed Trinity. Maybe the songwriter had insight into this. Just a thought.

Overall, I really appreciate Steven and the hosts, and think there’s a ton of truth here. But on the “soaking music” issue, either I have not been exposed to what they are talking about, or they are possibly assuming generalities that are not always there… I often listen to soaking music and will just be still and listen for a while before a time of prayer or reading the word… It is not because I think there is some spiritual element to it, or that it will cause God to come near me or anything like that, it is to put a transition between a fast-paced day full of distractions, and reading the word, praying etc, and wanting to do so undistracted. Slowing down, and listening to some “soaking” type music, just helps my brain to get unhurried and focused.
Maybe the intention of the soaking music is really what matters, not sure, I just don’t think wanting to slow down and focus on God/Worship, etc, is really a dangerous state of “altered consciousness”… 🤷🏼‍♀️

“Popping a Quiff” - was coined by the “What the @$#* Do We Know?” movie. That movie was based on the teachings supposedly channeled from Ramtha, the 35,000 year old spirit of a warrior from the lost continent of Lemuria. (Quote from Physics of Heaven Book)
And now I know why that phrase “popping a quiff” irritated me so much.

I've enjoyed these interviews with Steven, and hope you guys have him on again. However, I must point out that Keating's centering prayer is not at all the same thing as contemplative prayer. Centering prayer is a highly controversial--if not generally rejected--specific form of contemplative prayer, but contemplative prayer itself is a category of spiritual practice that has been a major part of the life of the church throughout the ages, regardless of sect (i.e. Orthodox, Catholic, & Protestant).
Moreover, Thomas Merton has his warranted controversies, but he was one of the most influential spiritual writers of the 20th century, and the contemplative prayer of which he wrote was not the same thing as Keating's centering prayer. In all gentleness, please drop the lone brush with which you're painting these two figures, and pick up a book on church history or Christian spirituality instead :D
Again, these two interviews have been really fun, and I hope there's a third awaiting us listeners!

At around 44 mins in: Faith is the substance, is like saying "faith substantiates" in the context of the verse in Hebrews.
We need to remember that language changes over the years, so when the King James version was written there were sometimes vast and sometimes subtle differences to language in our current day times.

great chat guys but the idea of entering the courts of heaven I think think was misinterpreted heavily. There is some very good and biblical teaching on this that when taught right is very empowering. God is our father but the idea of the court room is more to do with how the devil uses things eg.sin, doors weve opened etc to gain access or block the break through we are praying for. this is what the book of Job is all about! I urge you to look into some good teaching on this topic. Sid Roth does an interview with Francis Myles that is a good brief look more at this topic. God Bless

This is also huge herecy teachings - demons teaching, some strange mix of New Age(?), Progressive Christianity(?), New Thought and Christianity. I would really like to know about the teachings, because his legacy is still active today. This guy was on the beginning of the New Thought movement.
