@@1john4six Hi, I think I follow you. Is it your stance that I must say the actual words, Son of God, when I refer to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? I'm curious how you would handle this verse? Romans 10:9-10 King James Version (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
It doesn't say anything about the need to say Son of God. Anyway, as for me, yes, I believe that Jesus Christ is the the only begotten Son of God. And he saved me. He died on the cross for me, in my place and took the wrath of God that I deserve. And he rose from the dead three days later, that's who my savior is, the SON OF GOD, Jesus Christ. Someday in the near future, I believe that some professing Christians will demand to see MRIs and EKGs of peoples' hearts to see if they have been regenerated or not (half joking). Please clarify if I'm not understanding what you are saying. Is that your belief, that we must confess Jesus as the Son of God, or else we are professing a different Jesus. Like if I say: Jesus the Lord and Savior, are you saying that is someone else than the Son of God. Man, I don't know about what you are doing, but I'll watch a video or two of yours and see what you are all about.

Hi Steven, I came from a non-Christian household. When I was 17 I did magic mushrooms. Which was an experience that took me out of atheism and lead me to Christ. I didn't meet any beings but I was confronted by own sin and the hurt I caused in the world and I was overwhelmed by the love of God and that I could have a new start. How do I make sense of that? Am I just lucky?

Steven Bancarz I didn’t even realise you wrote this book. I just bought it and am looking forward to going through it. I am constantly confronted with people who spew all of this new age stuff, without even identifying as new age. Mushrooms, DMT and all of these things come up all the time. It is interesting how they always work so hard to make sense of life and the universe without Christ. They go out of their way to deny him 100% of the time. Again. I look forward to reading your book and hopefully understanding how to approach them about the evilness of this stuff.

I am really thankful and excited about these episodes. I have been listening to Jeff and Steven for a long time now and I am thankful to see the unity here despite some minor (non-essential) differences but I am especially thankful to know that you guys will be covering the Bethel Redding movement.
Back up a few years ago and following a viewing of "Finger of God" on Netflix, I was amazed to see what I THOUGHT was from God. You see I was brought up Baptist and that stuff was pretty fringe for us Texas Baptists, so I was really excited to see all of the healing and "signs and wonders" - or so I thought. It was around that time that I was visiting a local Pentecostal Bible study of seemingly sincere and passionate believers when something I'll never forget happened.
One of the women who had recently been to a Heidi Baker mission trip was going through all of these visions and dreams that she had been having. She said that she saw Jesus in the flesh and that he was "so interested in us". She said that he would walk and talk to her daily and that she could see him as clearly as she sees the people in the room. She said he would often just stand next to her and be so curious and interested to see what she was up to - she said he'd ask her "Whatcha doin?" like lovers might say to one another. She also gave other accounts of angels and "Fire Tunnels" (which I found out later in a Photography Documentary on Netflix called "Tales by Light" that Fire Tunnels are used to this day in Pagan ceremonies) and healings, etc... It was all very convincing and fringe to say the least.
This went on for a while and then another woman began to say "someone in this room has a spirit of perfection and God doesn't want you to have that." Well, I've been told that I take the Word of God too seriously and that I need to be more relaxed, to "let the Spirit guide" me. I wanted to be humble before the Lord and not reject what he says so I began to feel my emotions rise up as my skepticism diminished. Slowly my hands began to shake and it was about that time that I felt a spiritual entity touch my hand! Embarrassingly and involuntarily I screamed out "NO" and threw my study paper on the floor. Everyone just looked at me like I was crazy, then I began to weep uncontrollably (it was very embarrassing and very un-characteristic of me). Shortly after my sobbing they asked me if they could pray for me and everyone gathered around me and laid hands on me for prayer. I left there feeling pretty good, but also still a bit skeptical and confused because it was such a strange experience and nothing that happened seemed to line up with the Word - which also concerned me.
Over the next few days my wife and I played back what had happened and we began to recall how the lady that was with Heidi had us participate in this strange game where we thought of an animal and then she prophesied over each person based on the animal that popped into their head. We also participated in some weird cold calls but they didn't call it that, they seemed to think it was the 'Holy Spirit' that was bringing things into our minds. There were also lots of strange things in the room such as dream-catchers and stuffed animals everywhere. Looking back I can't believe I was so naive but to be completely honest with you, I didn't buy into anything until the end where the "incident" happened.
Guys, listen, spiritual experiences are so difficult to get over and to see objectively, but thanks to God's grace I wasn't going to take any chances, so I started digging and testing everything that happened with the Word. It was then that I also began to dig heavily into the principals and theological positions of people like Bill Johnson, Heidi Baker and the like. It did not take me long to find all kinds of red flags. So after months of study I began warning my friends and family. This movement has literally permeated the church around me here in Northeast Texas. Unbeknownst to me at the time, even some of my own family members were defending the "grave soaking" thing - and these weren't Pentecostals. Heck even the First Baptist church here has began to take notice and buy in!
I share all of this to say - God's people need this guys, and we need it often. We (the Church) need discernment when it comes to the New Age because the lines get blurry when it comes to spiritual experiences so we need leaders like you guys who are sincere about teaching others to be careful and "test everything" BEFORE IT HAPPENS, just as God has clearly warned us to do.

I saw many people there fall to their knees, laughing maniacally, and when I went through I fell to the floor too, albeit no laughing. The whole experience was really weird... my spirit didn’t sit well. It wasn’t until another seasoned Christian told me to stay stay away from those pastors. That it was heresy. I live in Berkeley California, and this place is nothing but an occult ran, pagan city. I've studied on spirit science. After being saved the Lord opened my eyes to how the enemy operates. I know exactly what is being said on this video, is so true. I've had out of Body experiences surfing large waves, when I was in a constant state of prayer to Jesus. Left my body and saw the Galaxy pass behind me in the blink of an eye. Saw the light, and felt the holy spirit. Then he said "you haven't done my will on Earth" and went back Just as fast, to 60 feet under the Pacific ocean, where I was able to anchor to the sand and get out of the rip current. Went into study and prayers about that word from the Lord. At the time I was living for adrenaline, money, and self. Living like a devil but called myself Christian. I was a baby. But thankfully he who started a good work will finish it... I started living for others, and found true spiritual freedom helping those on the street in the ghetto of northern California. Sharing Jesus's love, and gospel. I have to thank apologetical ministries for teaching me so much to defend the truth against some of the "smartest" atheists around UC Berkeley... But ultimately all Thanks and glory to our father and king Jesus.

I was wiccan for decades, was very well versed in Tarot, dream divination, "white magic/spells" candles mainly, but as the entities/demons gained more and more access to my various homes/area's in my life, things, of course, got way dark. I actually "got so good" at all these practices, including all the occult practices you guys, and Steven in particular, discuss. Many obe. Met my archtype, premonitions...everything you can imagine. My daddy was a free mason, my mom practiced some minor witchcraft, there was a big demon in our house who repeatedly attacked me in a very specific way, not sexual, but more intimately than I've ever encountered again in my own experience, or heard about. Anyway, Jesus came to me, and discipled me, and I am 100% out of all of it. I really want to help people too, but Idk how to use what I've been given yet haha! I was in the New Age/Occult in the late 70's & early 80's. After reading Dr Martin's "The Kingdom of the Cults" chapter on Theosophy, I realized that either the New Age movement was true or Christianity was true, but that they were NOT teaching the same thing (which is what the New Age movement claims). Constance Cumby's "Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow" also clarified so much for me but mostly immersing myself in the Bible and the church. Bless you Steven and thank you, Apologia.
It is strange for me to see how the things I was into when young were very fringe. Now being a Bible believing Christian is on the fringe.

Thank you for the show. This is great material. I've also had a run-in with a spirit imitating the Holy Spirit when interacting with a cult. At least in my experience as a Christian I could hear the still quiet voice of God at the same time telling me that I knew what the truth was. That REALLY made the false spirit mad and it tried to force me to believe. To my shame I let it overpower me (there was a girl involved and I really wanted to believe that certain things were true) but God didn't abandon me. He allowed me to practice free will even though it was destructive free will, but He was there waiting when I came to my senses and helped me rid myself of the false spirit 2 years later. One awe inspiring thing about the whole experience was as the false spirit kept forcing itself on my more and more to overpower me, the still quiet Voice never changed a bit and was infinitely stronger. There was zero way that the spirit could out shout it or remove it. The only way was when I made a bad decision myself.

I was given some spice/synthetic marijuana and vaped an entire 8ml tank full. This resulted in a supernatural experience that made me think I died and went to hell. I had no other way of describing it but it felt like people brushed it aside as a simple hallucination. What y’all described as demonic oppression really resonated with me. God used that experience to bring me back. Now what he said about hyper charismaticism and how their supernatural experience is their god really got to me. I have family in the UPC and their supernatural experiences they claim in Jesus name is their god. It breaks my heart and I’m overwhelmed at the idea of witnessing to them. Wow, always impressed when Steven exposes the unfruitful works of darkness. I am blown away by the statistics he quoted on the number of Orthodox Christians in the US. This makes me believe that John 16:2 is closer than I thought. Its fascinating to witness the level of occultism spewing out of hollywood on a daily basis, while the person next to me is oblivious. What breaks my heart is the lack of discernment of the lukewarm Christians I know and try to discern. For instance I had one "Christian" friend comment on FB, " what a great man, the founder of Burning man, (who's name I don't know) was and that she hope's he rests in peace after he passed away". I tried to explain that (burning man) was nothing more than a massive pagan ritual steeped in occultism. I assured her that unless he gave glory to Christ, was a born again, sanctified and justified that he was most definitely not resting in peace. Another example of blind so-called "Christians" I have came across, now get this, this guy is a Christian youth camp directer, when I asked him how he felt about the CIA finally admitting and taking responsibility for the tons of cocaine they brought into the US, his response was, and I can't make this up, "WELL MAYBE THEY HAD A GOOD REASON FOR IT". With "Christian leaders" like this, no wonder a majority of our youth is turning to new age.

I was in the new age for many years. I was also a fully certified student of Doreen Virtue. Thankfully, I followed her exit from na and conversion to Christianity. May I ask what made you a fully certified student under Doreen Virtue? I am just curious and am a Christian that is learning about New Age and how it crept into the church. I did not know any better until this year 2020. I did not know who Doreen Virtue was until earlier this year and just loved her testimony. Are you seeing that many new age people have come to know Jesus by both your and Doreen's testimony? So happy for you! 🙏

@@cat-bg3rv 👋 :) Doreen held classes and provided certification for her students. The classes were expensive and extremely popular and were marketed as a means to self-employment. I never 'made it' much to my chagrin and disappointment. It was suggested to me that my Christian brother's prayers had protected me. Though I had some evil stuff happen to me while I attended those workshops. I couldn't understand what or why at the time but must have been satanic. But as there's no such entity in na I didn't know what to do with the experience. I thought that I had failed at being spiritual at some level. Just more na satanic deception. Like how could someone who went to Angel Intuitive be evil? That was before I learned of lucifer being an angel of light. Doreen taught us that evil could not appear as love but we both know differently now of course. Like I said I had no context for the evil I encountered so I tried to focus on 'love and light.'
      Hope this makes sense :)
I know Doreen has helped many others find the truth in Jesus Christ.

When I was a teenager, I looked for ways to find out about the afterlife because I had lost my mother when I was nine years old and I needed affirmation that she was ok. My mother had been an avid church goer and was very serious about her faith and I truly believe Jesus was with me when I lost my mother because I felt this peace inside that got me through.. but I lost it as time went on as i grew up under an atheist Jesus hating father...because I no longer had a religious influence I sought out different ways to seek answers, being completely ignorant at the danger at what I was trying. I began using a ouija board and ended up bringing something into my house that shook my bed the minute I would begin to fall asleep, and I would feel it around me no matter where I was in the house. Things would fall and move in other rooms and a couple of times I witnessed a mist at the end of my bed. I became very depressed and started sleeping with the only bible I had every night..eventually we moved and the activity stopped but I think it took a long time for that entire experience to be behind me. This stuff is real and i wouldn't recommend the new age way to check it out..i couldnt write a quarter of the things i went through without this post being a mile long...believe me, dont try it..without Christ u are powerless against this stuff and it is a miracle that I went through it in the shape that I did. I got baptized when I came back to faith and completely repented of all of this. 100 years ago we couldnt see bacteria either..doesnt mean it's not there..it is..dont be stupid and assume the same thing about stuff like this.

It’s possible that the “symptoms “ Steven had were because he was participating/yielding to false teachers. When I say “false teachers” though, I’m not referring to their motives, but their actions. Sadly slot of well meaning people are getting lured into pagan practices via books sold in Christian bookstores, DVD”s , “Christian” television etc etc which promote pagan practices as “ Ancient Christian & Hebrew practice” , specifically things like”soaking” (a form of Eastern meditation dressed up to appear Christian). Contemplative “prayer”, “Practicing the presence” , “the Silence”, “Cloud of unknowing “, breath prayers and more. People like Richard Foster, Bill & Beni Johnson & their crowd (NAR, Patricia King, Todd Bentley, Shawn Bolz etc etc ) and other authors I can’t even think of at the moment are selling “Christian”books and holding youth conferences etc leading people into these practices.
Too many Christians don’t know the Word of God for themselves, or have no discernment to recognize false teaching of false unbiblical practices. Too many fall for the twisted arguments of these “teachers” and authors because of ignorance.

So, I was not raised Christian or New Age or any of that - and I was not raised to be opposed to any of it- religion and spirituality were really just not present in my home, even though I was near certain there was more to life than the physical etc.
    Two questions:
    1) When I was younger I used to experience some of the phenomena mentioned in New Age practice- I.e. astral projection , shadow people, lucid dreaming - and I never sought it, studied it, or put anything into it. Is that typical? Is there something that maybe I could have done to open that door and not realized- if so, how do I make sure as a believer now that this kind of stuff doesn’t take place?
    2) when I became a Christian, at 15, I went to a church that was considered to be charismatic. I’m much older now but for well over a decade this was my normative - I’ve been to some churches that would fall into the realm of being considered “hyper charismatic”. And some where I truly believed they were/are just Seeking to walk with God But it is still considered to be charismatic because of things practiced within the church such as a belief in tongues, healing, and the prophetic. They are also heavily rooted in the Bible and prayer ....
What do y’all think about the later- does all of that fall into the “New Age” seeping into the church or is there any level of practice in which those particular experiences could truly just be rooted in scriptural truths and a natural manifestation of God (I.e. like when Pentecost happened and people were healed in the Bible and set free of infirmity and demons etc. ) ?

I brought up the dangers of meditation and yoga to my Bible study group. Now I'm talking about very well read, mature and loving Christians who looked at me like I had 3 heads.
A few of them said yoga was fine because it was merely stretching and that God knows the intentions of their hearts and that 'meditation' is actually what (Christian) prayer is.
I replied that they are opening the door to Darkness because yoga positions are physical, Hindu 'prayer' poses and praise to 'Hindu gods', which is a pagan practice and idolatry.
The mere act of doing these poses gives justification for that which is NOT of the Light, to occupy a space within them.
ALL of them had half smile smirks on their faces and a couple members told me it's important 'not to read into things'.
My heart is heavy. Long time brothers and sisters in Christ (who know me quite well), immediately put up a wall and changed the subject.
I will be photocopying pages 311-317 called, 'Yoga in the Church' from Steven and Josh's book, 'The Second Coming of the New Age', and handing it to my Bible study group for discussion.
Please pray for The Holy Spirit's guidance over me in presenting this to them, so that eyes, minds and hearts will be opened to this real and ever-present danger to Christians everywhere.

Great interview! Thank you Apologia for having Steven, very informative. Reread John chapter 6, 4:13, maybe even over and over again, and hopefully find your way to Jesus' one Holy Catholic Church! If you can, I also suggest reading the book "The Last Supper" by Scott Hahn.

I believe we can learn from each other's experiences, so I would like to add my own testimony to Steven's... not a salvation testimony, but my experience with an OBE.
I don't believe that we are really "outside of our body" during these kinds of experiences. I hope my own testimony can help us to understand it a bit more. I believe these
are very strong delusions.. just like those who at Medjugorie thought they saw the sun spinning in the sky. These spirits/demons are able to produce extremely realistic
    images and sensory perceptions.
My own OBE didn't feel "more" real than real life. I had mine as a Christian, when I had ignorantly brought a New Age magazine into my home to 'see what they are telling people now".
I had been messing with New Age beliefs & practices before I was saved, but had gotten nervous about astral travel when I read about people saying you could get stuck outside your body,
so I had prayed, asking God to not let me do it if it was bad/dangerous, but to help me do it if it was ok. Before I got saved I never did experience the OBE though I had really tried.
But when I brought that magazine into my home after having a 'thought' to see what they were now telling people, with no intention of getting involved in New Age practices again.I had brought it
home to research it, for apologetic reasons. At least that was my intent, though I don't believe the suggestion was my own thought.
I believe a demon took advantage of me bringing the mag into my home, taking that appearance of evil as justification to gain more direct influence over my body/spirit/mind, and created the OBE experience in me.. however that technically works, in an attempt to try to seduce me into doing it on my own. When I took that mag into my home, I FELT a spiritual pull from it, but shrugged it off. But that night I had the OBE..
I had been sleeping, and suddenly woke up to find a fork in my hand. Confused and groggy, I got up to go put it in the kitchen. As I began to walk downstairs, I suddenly "tripped" and then began to FLOAT downstairs! I realized I was having an OBE, and not realizing it was demonic, thinking it was somehow "accidental" ... because I knew less than I do about it now,
I justified messing with the experience. I tried to put my head through our Kitchen wall which had a porch on the other side of it.. thinking I could look out at the porch... only to find myself in pitch darkness. Though my "spirit" eyes were open, I got confused by the sudden darkness, and tried to open my eyes - at which point I was suddenly, and for a split second, both upstairs looking through my slit eyelids which were opening from my attempt, and downstairs in the Kitchen in my 'spirit' at the very same instant - In the next I was suddenly upstairs in my bed. And AGAIN found a utensil in my hand. In my disbelief at what was going on, I squeezed the metal.. I could literally FEEL it.. and suddenly a "bat" thing started flying up near my head. I knew in that instant that it was representative of a demon, trying to get INTO me. I reached out and grabbed it, could literally feel my nails (in the spirit) digging into it's rubbery little body, shouted "In the Name of Jesus Christ!" and then suddenly found myself laying down in bed (I had been sitting up, grabbing the "bat") I then realized that the entire time, I had been only subconciously aware of feeling my husband's hand across my stomach.
God gave me a dream several days later, a very vivid dream (totally uncharacteristic of how I dream in the natural) in which a woman wearing my coat, using my keys, walked into my apartment
as if she owned the place. She had blond hair and green eyes... exactly as I had pictured my "magic genie" back when I first got lured into New Age practices (without knowing that's what they were).
I knew exactly who this "woman" was. I said, "What are YOU doing here?" She responded with a very mocking voice, "what do you THINK I'm doing here?" The Lord made me to realize that her wearing the coat and using my keys was indicative of the fact that I had basically GIVEN her the authority to come and go as she pleased, and to mess with my body. I had given her my authority over my own spirit/mind ... maybe my body, idk.. and over my home, by taking that New Age magazine into my home.
The day after the OBE experience, I was telling my husband what had happened, when suddenly I had a very vivid vision of flying up through the stars in my spirit. The vision was accompanied with an extremely strong, almost palpable temptation to try astral travel. I told my husband about the vision right then and there, and prayed the Lord would take the temptation, because it was just too strong for me to handle on my own. The Lord took it, and that was the last of that type of experience. I have had other experiences that were also linked to objects of false worship, but that's another story.
I don't know that I believe that the OBE was 'actually' leaving my body to go somewhere. I believe it is more likely some kind of illusion these spirits can create in our minds.. and our senses. It felt incredibly real. I literally could not tell the difference between me going downstairs into the kitchen in my "spirit" vs real life, feeling the utensil in my hand.. all of it felt very real. Not 'more' real than real life, but just as real as real life. I understand how those with "alien" encounters think it's real.. I believe it is the very same kind of experience.
I believe lucid dreams are very similar.

Love both of your channels. However, I am wondering why there are new age ads in this video.
