I'm amazed by how easily you can bring out the worst of Nomi LOL. It seems to me that the English version of Nomi still has a long way to go before it can catch up to its Chinese speaking twin. I learned that Nio's update 1.3.0 has major improvement to (Chinese version of) Nomi. Hopefully Nio's R&D can quickly fill the gap and make the English Nomi actually useful.

There are two reasons behind such placement. One is that the LiDAR simply sees more on top, second is that it’s not on the bumper, so being a n expensive part, it won’t be damaged in a regular mild accident, making the insurance premium insanely costly.

I’ve been following this brand for a while now, waiting to see what they bring to Europe. The cars themselves look really intriguing and could be a challenger to Tesla and some of the mainstream brands. I will certainly be wary of buying one until things like servicing and battery swapping are announced and where you can get your car serviced/repaired etc…. Also the price point, they are very, very expensive! Great review though

Baas is definitely the way to go. It would take 6 years for baas subscription to become more expensive than buying the battery and with baas you get battery swap which is one of the main selling features with nio. I'm not sure how it works in germany but in china you can lease a bigger battery for roadtrips so unless you drive long distances often its a no brainer to go with the smaller battery baas subscription.

7:41 best part of the series, the relationships between Thomas and Nomi. Following this since last episode. :)
Back to the serious mode: definitely the silence and the less voice feedback is appreciated, this is of course cultural thing and personal preferences. I'd prefer to drive in silence and only listening to music or audiobook, if Nomi would try to interfere every 5 min telling me that something is ON or OFF, in 1 month I would end up in a mental hospital tight to the bed repeating "HIGH BEAM IS ON, HIGH BEAM IS OFF"

Interesting review Thomas as usual. Nice as this car is, for me the most important question here is who can afford this sort of stuff that is now coming out of the manufacturers. European and Asian. This car is listed at 74,000 Euros plus the price of a battery pack ! I'm pretty certain that for most people here that is completely unaffordable !
Not sure where the car makers are going with the price of EV's. I bought my current car,a new Audi Q8 55 TFSI in 2020 for about £63,000. That was enough for me. I cannot envisage paying more than that for a car whether I could afford it or not. As I am retired now, I probably could not .
I looked at the price of a new Mercedes EQE / S and a BMW IM and they are both veey very expensive. Well specced the price touches £90,000 ! That is quite ridiculous in my opinion
Not convinced by an EV still at the moment but surely the Manufacturers need to start developement of smaller more affordabel EV models that would then make more financial sense to the majority of us , if they need to convince us that the EV route is the way to go.
So, I will continue with my ICE Audi. It's a fine car. Powerful enough with range of 600 miles. So good for longtouring holidays to Germany where one day we might meet you Thomas !
Please keep up the fine car reviews. I think you are the best in the business. Clear, informative and with a sense of humour.

100kWh battery or even 70kWk costs I think half of that price, even more :) IMO PHEVs are beter for price and environment as you can build 10 PHEVs with this 100kWh and let them drive the daily 40km (as most people drive) on electric, rather than give one person 400km range that is used only once a week or even less an 9 other cars are ICE. Once a week it is OK to burn some fuel, keeping in mind to drive small range daily on electricity only.

This a wonderful review and not just for the comedy value of the rematch with Nomi.
What I really appreciate is that NIO have rethought their car from first principles. Elsewhere I made a crack about electric being like the move from horse and carriage to horseless carriages. With this NIO there is no hint of horse or carriage. Inevitably not everything NIO have rethought is perfect - think Nomi - but there is so much that is good, and it is interesting that Thomas reports in part that NIO have outdone Tesla. The Japanese - say Nissan and Mazda - have attacked the premium sector with less is more without a €20-30k price premium. NIO are attacking Audi/BMW/Mercedes head on without trading on price at all, or at least not very much. From what I have seen in this review NIO really can do premium on a par with the German big three.
The financing options are especially interesting with the battery swap option getting round most of the charging anxiety problems in many markets. A lot more wannabe premium car owners will be able to afford €1-1.5k a month than €100k upfront. Even if you are not wannabe, a no hassle monthly rental is attractive regardless of the detailed financial calculations.
Would I buy German premium or NIO. Neither as it happens. What I long for is an Alfa Romeo back on song and will forgive a lot of imperfections to get one. Meanwhile I like Mazda.

That Naomi thing is creepy. I'd have to rip that out (cut the wires) as soon as I got the car.
In any event, this is the first EV that has impressed me. The ingenuity of being able to do the battery swap is something I've been saying all EV should have from day one.
Not only that, they rather than playing follow the "Tesla" leader, they still have offer a traditional fully opening panoramic sun roof. That's something you don't see much of in the entire car industry.
One other thing you don't see is that very ingenious lounge seat for the front passenger. That alone makes this one of the only EV I'd even consider. This EV is full of features that are truly revolutionary.

Good review. Had test drive yesterday. Passenger leg room is an issue for us due to disability of passenger. This car beats them all. Quality experience matches all big German names. More rustique atmosphere than most of those. What I do not understand is why DC max charging is 125 for 100kWh and 140 for 75kWh battery. One would expect the bigger battery to have more room for faster peak charging? At 125kW this car is not up to its league in this aspect. On very long trips with several stops this may be annoying. Sunroof scores points, and also that a sunshade can close the glass roof. Not many cars have this. Can anyone tell me if this care really keeps the charging speed for a while, and actually also reaches the top speeds that NIO says it can do?

    • @tonypaca3015
      @tonypaca3015 Год назад

Charging is average speed but doesn’t this get 360 miles of range in Europe? Even at that speed of charging you still get more charge volume comparing with model y at 330 miles. Also I saw some tests where nio gets 87% of claimed range and model y gets 85%. Meaning nio real world range at 360 miles will be 313 miles and Tesla at 330 will get 280 miles real world range

Other estimates put the number of civilian deaths even higher, with some sources suggesting that the total number of deaths could be as high as one million.
In Afghanistan, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has been documenting civilian casualties since 2009. According to their data, over 38,000 Afghan civilians have been killed as a result of the conflict since 2009. it is believed that the population of Native Americans in the Americas before European contact ranged from approximately 50 million to 100 million people, spread across many different cultures, languages, and regions.
In contrast, according to the most recent estimates, the population of Native Americans in the United States today is approximately 6.8 million, representing about 2% of the total U.S. population. Native American populations in other parts of the Americas, such as Canada, Mexico, and Central and South America, also vary in size.
It is generally believed that India's population was relatively large and diverse in the 15th century, with a wide range of different ethnic and linguistic groups living in different regions of the country. Some estimates suggest that the population of India in the 15th century may have been around 100 million people, although this number is difficult to verify.
