This is a full GBC conversion for Mega Man World 2 by SpecialAgentApe, with an included soundtrack hack by forple.
Features:
Full color conversion
Soundtrack selector: Press the Select Button on the title screen to switch between a remixed OST and the original OST.
Redone soundtrack by forple also includes redone sound effects; those wishing for the original experience can disable it.
Slide and tiptoe graphics corrected
New sprite animations added:
Mega Man blinks while riding Rush Marine
Mega Man’s damage animation now has an extra frame
Energy tank’s “E” blinks on and off like the other entries in the series
New tile animations added:
Metal Man’s, Top Man’s, and Air Man’s stages have received animations and graphical touch-ups similar to their NES counterparts
The magnet generators in Magnet Man’s stage are now animated
Water is now animated in every level containing it
Redone graphics:
The final boss’s graphics have been redrawn by Kensuyjin33 to be more on-model with the rest of the series
The Mag Fly enemy was redrawn to be more on-model while retaining its hitbox
Redone pause menu and icons, along with weapon colors
Bugs fixed:
Mini-bosses in Wood Man’s and Top Man’s stages now disappear when you change screens while they are onscreen
Other changes and features:
Quint’s arena now plays the boss theme
The sky in Crash Man’s stage now changes with Mega Man’s elevation to mimic the effect seen in the NES title
Using Hard Knuckle now makes Mega Man’s hand disappear, rather than him firing it from his gun

Method to stop Wily early: military uses surveillance satellites to see where ever a giant skull fortress is being constructed.
nice, i know they did the US version of these colored hacks a while back. Makes me wish we got that Capcom collection for the GBA that was going to do the same thing.
Capcom allegedly lost the source code which is why the release date for the GBA Collection kept getting pushed back (I was managing at GameStop during that era) and it was eventually canceled

@@thecunninlynguist the game got ported to Windows 95 and that has been the basis of almost all the other ports of it since. I think that stems more so from the unconventional hardware configuration of the Saturn that the source code being lost and the Windows port being more hardware/programmer friendly. The original Panzer Dragoon is an unlockable extra in the Xbox port of Panzer Dragoon Orta, and that game is fully backward compatible on Xbox One, and if you play it on One X/Series X it gets a massive resolution boost of running at 1920x1440
So it is out there and accessible
I'm normally a purist, but that revamped soundtrack goes hard.
Ready for Mega Man World 3 DX to be released soon. Same for Mega Man World 4 DX. And I am aware of a MMW4 LDX one existing, but with how these have been streamlining after Christmas 2022, I'd say this is as close to a Mega Man Mania revival on GBA as we will get.
That's pretty much the idea. Not sure if you're aware but this is part of a project that not only colorized the GB games, but also to revive Mega Man Mania as a whole.
@@megamix5403 That is the best info ever. Thank goodness. Still keeping my eyes open for a Mega Man World 3 & 4 DX release. MM4LDX is okay, but most of what is presented seems more for Super Gameboy. I still like it. But I do love the overall quality that specialagentape and marc_max has given. Very spot on to NES quality and all put into a Gameboy Color upgrade.

I have a soft spot for this game, it was the first Mega Man game that I owned and beat (mind you, it *is* easy compared to most MM games).
Also remember the password to Quint with 4 E-tanks to this day... entered it from memory into the Switch Online entry this past week.😅

@@napoleonfeanor the original MMII GB soundtrack is infamous for its high pitch and odd tones. I recall reading somewhere that the peogrammers made an oversight and the sounds play at the wrong pitch in the final game

Finally, our ears have been saved with this Remix of the original soundtrack.
Seriously, the Boss theme from the original game was downright terrible.
If this was able to work this well, on a Super Game Boy, I'd have bought a flash cart for it _yesterday._ Listening to the remix OST is just... bliss. This was basically my sole GB mega man for all the time when the system was new.

If you want to play with the classic soundtrack, please, use the Supper's hack, which is compatible with this hack, which doesn't make your ears bleed.

It's a gameboy game. That's as good as it can get (and that's really good for the console)
