      I was just thinking the same thing. Wooden frame with rubber was my idea. But couldn't think of a way to attach if no hitch or no bumper it could be attaced to. Newer bumpers would be a pain. Maybe hard rubber that could go over the cables instead of the towee Lol

  • @ktmers

    I know absolutely nothing about towing vehicles but while I was watching you I had a thought, what if you had a solid piece of say 2" square stock that you could weld a loop to on both ends and hook to a hitch receiver on the towing vehicle and the vehicle being towed? It would keep the vehicle being towed from rocking and possibly hitting the wrecker. You could also make it two pieces ie one piece of square stock inside of another and drill holes through so you can adjust the distance you want the two vehicles to be apart. Like I said I know nothing about towing just when you put that lower line from the wrecker to the jeep I thought " what if that was a solid piece" Love the rescue videos , keep up the good work.

    I am sure the offroadgames will be cool but honestly I wonder about the format this year. It would seem to be placing random youtube fame above the core content of the channel. I think one of the most compelling parts of the content is the passion everyone has for driving the cool things that get built. This seems like a marriage of authenticity and genuine passion for motorsport and the recovery game. Throwing abject amateurs into the drivers seat is not without appeal but perhaps an episode worth of appeal as opposed to an entire event. I think what the wrecker games did so well was to showcase the joy and the fun that is manifest around shared interest. That was so apparent among the participants in the same way it is when watching people who love the game play sports. I'm no expert but I care about the channel and the content and while I know all channels evolve I do wonder about this particular evolution. I will keep watching no matter what you do but I thought I might share my $.02

    I'm surprised that you guys have not fabricated tow bars so that you do not have to manually brake the vehicles when they are being towed on the boom.

  • @markellyfarm
    @markellyfarm 6 месяцев назад

    Could you make like a reverse tow bar to hold the distance between the wrecker and the vehicle if being towed in reverse? You could just use a ball hitch coupler on the vehicle side if it is equipped with one. You would still lift the rear-end with the boom.

    Is there any way to make some kind of brace that goes between your off road tow truck and the rear of the vehicle being towed that will keep it from hitting the boom and damaging or breaking the rear window? Love these videos my favorite channel by far. 😃😃

    The Wrecker Game's wouldn't be the same without the FabRat's crew this year. I'm just a fan.... love all your RUclips buddies channels!!! It should be like last year. RUclips Buddie's showing thier wrecker's capabilities, limits and how fun stuff they can do @ the Wrecker Games. Plus, you have new Wrecker invites. Just need to add more fun and more challenging events this year. Stick to fun wrecker stuff and leave the offroad stuff for the OffRoad Games or the Offroad Challenge for offroad rigs or crawlers. Any more wreckers dropping out this year... It would be sad... if it's just the Corvair, the Banana and the RazorBack Wrecker @ your own Wrecker Games this year!!! Don't get me wrong... I'm a fan of Matt's OffRoad too!!! Love your recoveries, awesome builds and contents. I also love what you do for your Community, Family, Friends, fellow employees and people who need your help. Keep up the awesome work Matt's OffRoad. Hope to see the FabRats crew change their minds about the games??? Don't forget, It was awesome, when Paul snapped that rope... Myself and your fans love watching the Wrecker Game last year and thank you for a job well done!!! Hope and prey this year will be the same... but more fun and more challenging obstacles.

    For wrecker. Could you have triangle tow bar from 2 points on rear of wrecker? As wide as practical to rear hitch receiver on towed unit.ideally a big spring, or shock. You would need two hinge areas. But much safer.

    I live up towards SLC. Were getting HAMMERED with snow rn. I shoveled. Dropped the kids off at school and grabbed some groceries.. maybe 40 minutes tops and there was another 6" on my driveway when i got home. I had to make another run to the auto store for pne of my projects and on the way there and back i pulled 3 cars and 1 truck out of the snow in my freaking Audi A6😂 just a generic recovery rope not the yankum or matts or trail maters. Those ropes are too pricey for me. I carry em just for emergencies or days like today. Help a few people out. Nothings plowed. Super dense slick snow. I think its HILARIOUS honestly. 2 subarus, one was that crosstrek one was an outback, the truck was a rwd f250 with big ole knobby tires. Everyone is stuck and im just yeeting my car around like WEEEEEEEEE!!! Quattro season baby😂 if i wouldve charged em all 50ish bucks each i wouldnt have had to work today😂 also helped push some kia fwd car into a walmart parking lot that a few other guys were trying to help push. We got it but they sure werent going anywhere after they finished sbopping😂 the parking lots arent even plowed or packed in. Also bizarre idk how it hapoened but there was an older jeep wrangler BACKWARDS on a one way street with its chassis slid halfway up into/over the snow drift (3-4 feet high) with no driver around. The local PD was on that one though. I love snow days like this.

      Haha that's funny. I used to pull people out with my Audi around SLC also. Lots of people with horrible tires that shouldn't even be on the road. Trucks are surprisingly useless in snow because there is no weight over the rear wheels and they never have snow tires on. My girlfriend at the time hated me pulling people out. That's another reason she's the ex. Lol

      Where are you connecting the recovery rope to? The tow loop welded to the spare tire/battery compartment or do you have a tow hitch installed? The tow loop doesn’t seem strong enough to be yanking on it pulling out multiple cars and trucks.

    • @notyouraveragegoldenpotato
      @notyouraveragegoldenpotato 6 месяцев назад

      @@seashackf1 so about that...😅 we went camping WAAAAAY up in the middle of BFE in put favorite spot, I drove my truck my s.o. drove the A6. Literally pulling into our spot we've gone to for years she ripped the rear lower valence off. So I just wrap it around the rear bumper crash bar. You cant really see it unless your down on the ground, it actually looks kinda mean tbh. Its on my list of 1 trillions things to do. Its Rock solid bolted to the frame. I don't even think that A6 has a welded tow hook. I haven't spent much time under it. It's usually the missus grocery getter. Didnt have a welded tow hook like the B5 and B6s.I have 5 audis, that A6 3.2 is hers. Very Nice but boring to me. I have 2 built big turbo A4s and 2 S4s. One a 2.7tt avant (also built and upgraded biturbos and aloooooot of boost), the other a 4.2 v8. I have pulled people out before many times by the welded tow hook In several of those cars as they all have it. Definitely isn't the strongest thing ever but I've never needed to slam the throttle and rubber band the recovery ropes. I just pull and out they come🤣

      @@mediocreman2 amen. I got into audis because of my Ex wife. I got royally screwed like every man in Utah. Factually Worst men's rights state in the nation. I had a nice A4 I had just got after driving a 500$ clunker for YEARS slaving away to make us enough to get a house. She always got the newer nicer car. Decided to cheat on me. I had to give her MY audi A4 but I still had to pay for the damn thing🤣 I was a single father at that point living on basically buttered pasta. I found a much older audi. 2001 (B5) for cheap. Simple 1.8turbo 4 cyl. Said why not it was all I could afford. Wow. That Kickstarted my life. All of a sudden I was wrenching, meeting local communities. Learning and learning all DIY because I had ZERO money because of the lawyers and divorce. Found some tuner friends, one lead the racing engineering research team at the u of u. Next thing ya know he takes me under his wing. Within a year I've touched and trouble shot and replaced fixed or rebuilt every single thing on that car for pennies on the dollar. Helped a guy I'd never met before from the local audi cars and coffee rebuild his A4 from a bare block at the shop he worked at a porsche bmw Mercedes performance shop. (He didn't work on the cars and didn't know anything) the owner was there on that Saturday and watched me assemble his bare block motor in about 2 hours from memory. Offered me a job on the spot. Now I'm building tuning and modifying porsches🤣 learned ALOT more there. Hell Jay Leno drove one of my builds on his show. I've got pictures of my puppy Belgian malinois sleeping I'm the passenger seat while wired up under the dash🤣 now I have 5 audis. 4 built. 2 of them absolute monsters either big twin turbos or huge single turbo usually around 30psi tunes. I buy em and fix em and flip em. (These 5 are mine though and I'll never let them go🤣) I did it all for pennies on the dollar. My ex cheating on me led me down a path that literally defined my life and led me to incredible things and experiences. So.. thanks ya C yoU Next Tuesday I guess🤣 gave me a passion to get me through the dark years. Now it's just the fun years and my kids all giggle like maniacs when the boost hits and just keeps going up and up🤣

      @@notyouraveragegoldenpotato nice. reason I asked is because I have installed a hitch on the two S4’s I’ve had and you use the tow loop as an anchor point along with mounting to the spare wheel compartment. With the V8 these things are a blast to tow with. I tow an ATV or dirt bike and you don’t even feel it back there. Could cruise at 80 and not even know it’s there. Had someone one time come up behind me at a light and move over to the next lane to not be behind me with a trailer. I could hear him floor it when the light turned green. I then did the same and smoked him. It was hilarious seeing the his passenger laughing in my rear view mirror.
      I’ve been dailying them for 12 years now. First had an ‘05 Avant (for 6 years), now have an ‘08 sedan with only 100k miles on it it perfect condition for the age and mileage. There was a noticeable difference between the two. B7 is more refined, like all final years of a model. I’ve only done OEM + mods to the brakes and suspension except with an O34 super stiff rear sway bar which is an absolute must for all Audi’s. I’ve also refreshed all the control arms just to make it feel like new again. Makes a huge difference on the handling.
      For the engine On the ‘05 I did put in a JHM intake spacer when I had to replace the valley pan gasket. Haven’t had to do that ‘08 so it’s stock aside from the mandatory intake box flapper delete. Never had a B5. I love the V8, but know the B5 engine is way more tunable. On that note, since you’re a tuner for much more expensive cars and you tune S model, what’s your opinion on engine mods. Knock on wood, both my cars have been extremely reliable, knock on wood. I do all the maintenance my self….belts, vc gasket, shocks, control arms, wheel bearings, rotors, etc and want to keep it that way. Historically nothing has really been worth it bang for buck wise since it’s NA. JHM, APR, etc tunes didn’t seem worth it. Recently I heard about Jackel Motorsports tune and it actually does seem like it makes enough difference to be with while. It’s been a few years and people are saying good thing about it. My fear is they are pushing things to far that aren’t good for the motor. Do you have any knowledge of it and if it’s any good?
