For me casting was the main issue. Having a 58 year old play a 20 year old is just not acceptable in the realm of this film. I liked Aamir towards the end when the character aged but this film needed an actor in his 30s.

We can't deny the fact that "Boycott Bollywood" had a major role to play in this failure. Ofcoz now the audience is smart n they really wants to invest in the movies worth watching. OTT rise and good content in it should pave the way to the good cinema. They sooner Bollywood accepts it, the better.

The main reason behind bollywood movies floping i can think of is high budget and costly theatre tickets . what was there of 80 cr in raksha bandhan . Karthikey 2 is a better movie with beautiful scenic location is made in just a budget 25 cr .Bollywood needs to think about it & Should reduce the budget of these feel good movies . My thoughts on why Bollywood is failing in some movies -
    1. Movies are expensive. Ticket costs minimum of Rs.200 and going with friends and family costs a big amount, hence people prefer only to watch best movies in theatre.
2 .Negative Image of bollywood after SSR death and nepotism is still the ongoing issue , some people are boycotting the films for this .
3.There was an era when people went to see khan's films without even thinking but now people prefer good content over any face . Hence films with good content are seeing golden days now .
    4. OTT Platforms are more popularised . They give you convenience, abundance of content , privacy and also they are on cheaper side than watching movies in theatre..
I think these are some points and they are interlinked

Honestly I think the death of SSR is just an excuse to boycott all the movies. People didn't watch his movies in theatres when he was alive. Byomkesh bakshi, sonchiriya were good movies but didn't do well. And those who are boycotting Amir because of PK are forgetting that SSR played a pakistani guy in the movie.
They boycotted Kedarnath where he played a Muslim guy taking Hindus to the pilgrimage.
It's all just an excuse to target amir because he had criticised his own country.

Ahh enough with the SSR cries, nobody watched his movies either when he was alive. You are disrespecting his death by bringing him at the forefront of your hateful agendas for A-list stars in bollywood.
And no one gives a shit about Nepotism, there is reason Koffee with Karan has done 7 seasons bcz we watch it. You can cry all you want but people enjoy watching celebrities and its not like nepotism is a brand new thing, it was there before its gonna be there after. Point is they aren't making compelling movies. In a world of globalisation where you watch Dinosaurs and Superheroes and complex war thrillers, no one wants to watch cheesy hindi movies we've already seen a thousand times.

Also, Bhool Bhulaiya 2 is a pretty good movie with a mix of comedy and horror. Neither is really good, but it does manage to provide a good, timepass movie experience. Also, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani have the ability to bring audiences to theatres, but sadly Amitabh Bachchan alone cannot garner audiences anymore. Even if LSC was a perfect remake it wouldn't have worked on BO. Let me break this into different demograpics-
Type 1( The Niche audience) At maximum there are about some 1M+ people who want to watch content oriented movies, even if the movies are slow, they can appreciate technical aspects ( which amount to 8-10cr lifetime biz). This type of audience like movies like Anurag Kashyap's upcoming Dobaaraa who are more prominent on social media only.
Type 2(The middle ground audience)- Audience that can will only watch content driven movies if they are entertaining be it in comedy or have some emotionally manipulative. This type of audience like movies like BB2, JJJ. etc
Type 3( The escapist/Mass audience )- This type make up the largest portion, if the movie is liked by this type then only your movie will be a blockbuster in BO. they like movies like KGF2, Dhoom3 etc.
LSC was too slow and not emotionally manuiplative for audience like Type 2 and it didin't have anything for audience like type 3 so it wouldn't work even in BO even if it was a perfect remake 🤞

It's not the boycott as much as it is opening our eyes to new ventures. I saw RRR and KGF because the set up was so big and it showed in the trailer too. Watching movies and dramas during lock down from Korea, south India, Thailand and other countries really put things in perspective. Even the OTT platforms have noticed this and have started to add more options from other parts of the industry. On a normal day, I would rather watch a Korean OTT drama than spend 700+ on a movie I am not even sure about. Plus with price increase, you don't go to the movies alone and you don't just watch the movie, it's either accompanied by lunch or dinner. Because honestly out of the movies that were boycotted which one was amazing and was unfairly looked over. I saw Rocketry over the weekend and balled my eyes out because it was so engaging meanwhile you yourself commented that you couldn't feel the right emotions in Rakhsha bandhan. Bollywood needs to up their game, in not just scale but in script writing.
Also, the industry handled the whole boycott thing incorrectly and it is continuing to do so. They took the love and honor that the fans gave them for granted. Sure you can't please everyone and there are some unreasonable people but you have to agree that some of the statements that these stars have given have come back to bite them. Be it Karan joking about nepotism or Kareena saying don't come, don't watch, even now Arjun Kapoor calling the industry to stand against trolls - they are the ones alienating the audience. These artist need to open their eyes and read the room, the audience has changed and they are still stuck in star stuck India.

Even bollywood films that have flopped have the escapist theme. I dont think audience wants to watch typical entertainers for namesake, even the huge spectacle films has to be rooted, have a plot that convinces you to believe however far fetched scenes are. Prabhas mentioned that point in interviews but all I hear from bollywood actors is leave your brains at home and all those fake reasons to watch movies. On top of that trailers are really bad with actors like akshay, Ranbir kapoor and others not even convincing audience to invest in their characters. My entire taste of movies changed and my expectations and taste changed. I no longer wanted to watch movies with reputed production houses or bigger starcast but i prefer a good product overall with a good story line and great concept. below are the 2 movies i happen to watch in cinemas post lockdown
The Kashmir Files- i went to theater to watch this because of the word of mouth appreciation from close friends and curiosity for the reality showcased in it.
RRR- just wanted to experience this for the visual treatment given by SS Rajamouli which was meant for big screen

Following the rise of OTT post pandemic, it's all come down to word of mouth.
It's not the objective quality of the film/story. Or professional/traditional journalist reviews.
It's simply what first day viewers are saying about a film that matters. (+To an extent, how well it's appealing to current political sentiments /detached from it completely)
LSC could have pushed through the backlash only if it was an Extraordinary good movie. Being average or even above average doesn't cut it when there is a loud set of people ready to amplify every single negative aspect of the film and make people on social media or otherwise believe an above average film is infact bad and not worth the trip to the theatre.
At the same time any film that was expected to be terrible but was even fairly good, nothing special + mostly detached rom any political topics(looking at Bhool bhulaiya) will do much better as the WOM on that is going to good.
Films like rrr, pushpa, kgf2 and Gangubai (to an extent) are where the hype was high and the films delivered to the expectations and reaped the benefits of the hype and support.
I genuinely hope all the delays with Brahmastra are worth it. Everything related to the promotion of the film is pretty exciting, it's rooted in Ancient indian mythology and both the actors and the director are pretty well liked even in the anti-nepotism atmosphere.(Alia is a favourite social media punching bag but the general public reception for her projects is always positive and no one can ever deny her talent. Every one is excited to see the pair an screen. Ranbir has a general vote of confidence for his talent. Ayaan's previous films have all been well received. People like his treatment of characters) The hype is there. Hoping they've not dropped the ball too terribly anywhere and this film can have a good run at the box office.

The trailer of LSC gave a glimpse of what was in the store. So it was expected. The #hate campaign for Aamir is too much. He deserves respect for his past gems like #dangal, #tarezameenpar.
But, bollywood really needs this shake up to respect the sensibilities of people and start giving their writers, technicians their due. Down south, we know the choreographers name, lyricist is appreciated if the quality of dance and song is good. A good producer is called out in the film events. Fans are treated with respect. I don't see that in the Hindi movies at all now.. Remember Salim javed, kader khan and lyricists like prasoon joshi. Who do you have now? No one knows the #technicians names of Hindi movies. Bollywood should address the root problems. When you see interviews of the actors like #Arjun kapoor who is hell bent on talking about trolls rather than accepting the bitter truth that a well made movie is what public wants, the war is already lost. Imagine someone like him being in the brain storming sessions of how to revive the hindi movie industry! I stop my rant here and seriously hope for its revival.

I watched your review and it got me thinking as the points u raised and watching the trailer.. it was so obvious that the tone seemed bit too much than the original.
Still I watched the movie and to my surprise.. the kids track totally took me in. And I do agree with you that the older Lal .. is more connected to the kid than the younger adult Lal. BUT..
Being a fan of the original.. I still got invested in the story and the acting. The problem the audience doesn't go to enjoy the movie rather to have critic points. I only wanted to see if those moments which made me shed a tear while watching the original happen to me in its adaptation. And Yes that happened!... and it happened after going into the movie reading and watching so many bad and negative reviews. It remains a story that touches your heart and its adaptation is beautiful too. The reason of its failure in India is the agenda that was there from the beginning against it... thats my thinking as been seeing that a lot. And u can say that the audience that went to theatres 10 yrs ago.. arent going there anymore and they have resorted to OTT.
I agree ..aamir didn't showcase anything new in his acting from his past performances but haven't people liked shahrukh Khan in his early days when he was acting in the same tonality in all his movies.

The ONLY reason why I did not watch 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is because it was a remake. That too a remake of a film that is close to my heart. Rather than Kargil, if they had substituted the Vietnam War with India's disastrous IPKF operation in Sri Lanka in the late 80s, it would've made much more sense. Of course, in the real world, Laal's psychological condition wouldn't have qualified him for the Army to begin with.
I also think the premise of FG doesn't quite align with India's historical and cultural experiences. From the bits I've seen on social media, the movie seems like a rather pedestrian adaption of FG.
Needless to say, it's shocking that Aamir totally missed out on Tom Hanks's subtle performance as a man on the spectrum. Classic case of narcissism and patronizing attitude towards the audience.

Thorough the movie was quite long, I really enjoyed how sweet and wholesome the movie was and how many small messages were captured within the story. It was also quite admirable and respectful on how they focused on Sikh Events such as The Golden Temple Attack, Sikh Gen*cide in New Delhi, Aamir Khan watching another Sardar putting on his Paagri and then applying his own on the end. In this day and age even Punjabi movies focus more on comedy then Sikhism it’s self in a respectful way. I also loved the characters, now while Bala was a bit over the top, I do think that the comedy in the first half allowed the audience to settle in for the deeper aspects later.

What I feel now is how will the movie industry work??
The reason Bollywood movies worked is due to extravaganza... Which requires money. Now I don't see blockbusters coming that frequently... There was a time when every movie made 100 cr in the budget of 60 cr. Now it's reverse. Every movie is made close to 100cr and barely make 60.
I think people have lost faith in Bollywood. The last Bollywood movie i watched before LSC was Kabir Singh, that too cause i liked the original. Since then i have not seen any. I am not hyped for it....
And i think that is missing. The hype.
I don't think there is any movie creating Hype. bramhastra will also flop and so will Vikram Veda... There is no hype. The best Hype i have seen in past year was all south movies, pushpa, kgf2 and rrr.
I think the reason is simple, film maker don't know how to capture mass audience. Rohit shetty does that in Bollywood and i think he will be the one bringing audience back. I am hating myself for saying that but...
If terrible movies don't make money, this industry will fail.
Audience wants good content but with the money the actors ask, the producers won't make any profits.
But money is not the problem yet, it will be... Actors used to take percentage of the profits. Now they will go back to taking half the budget. Why risk their money when no one wants to see. And frankly, no one wants to see three Khans, Ajay Devgn or Akshay Kumar.

Much apt reviews in regional languages. It's obvious that you like certain types of genres, but it doesn't mean that all other genres are bad or weird. Wanted to share this review in a while. So just adding it now. Hope someone will make a video review/comparison of your reviews.

Correct finally someone observed. Also he continuously uses cringe words like " That interval block "
"Omg that climax" " The BGM was great " " The cinematography was superb " in each of his South movie reviews . Like he basically just used same words in each South movie and nitpicks when reviewing any Bollywood movie like they can't have a good bgm or cinematography ever and everything needs to be perfect for him to suggest a Bollywood movie. His bias is now irritating soon might unfollow him .

More than Aamir it was the RUclips critics who made the false propagandas against the film specially Suraj Kumar Pratik and made sure audience who had decided to watch it don't go . The general public reviews were good. Even I went to see it with my family and had a great time even though I had seen Forrest Gump.
Also the sudden love towards South movies have been killing any decent film from Bollywood. Even average products like KGF Pushpa earned great numbers due to these critics what else do we expected from LSC ?

@ab What content do u get in KGF ? Or Pushpa?
Mistreat women ? Show a criminal as hero ? Fight 1000 people alone ? Harass women's in name of romance ?
This ideas are so outdated which were relevant back in 90's but thanks to South movies they are back again . 1000 rs mein kiss karegi mujhko like wtf is this ? Tujhe kidnap Kiya kyunki tu meri entertainment hai ? Wtf ?
If u still think youtubers can't influence normal people or income then you are very wrong. We are living in a time where people suddenly respect KRK too . Nowdays people don't see newspapers they open RUclips and see reviewers dancing their ass off while reviewing a movie.
Also RRR got good response in overseas similarly LSC has very good response by critics there you can check out the reviews. Not saying RRR was great but it was visually stunning to see . Similarly LSC isn't a masterpiece but it isn't as bad as people here are saying.

    • @juanmata2131
      @juanmata2131 2 года назад

@ab Nope I don't want those things to happen in a movie but you are saying people want good content then how does KGF or Pushpa comes in that category ? How did they earned so much even after being shit ? Salman movies are trolled mercilessly you would know ofcourse. Same people left no stone unturned to praise KGF . And as i said check out the reviews of LSC overseas they are extremely positive.

    • @juanmata2131
      @juanmata2131 2 года назад

@ab Even i had watched Forrest Gump but i still enjoyed LSC and i mainly went because of my family and they enjoyed it and honestly it was good enough. You can still see the crowd infront of SRK's house during his birthday it's because of his experiments of movies that they failed like Fan, Zero now when he comes back with pathaan you would see how much craze it generates. Akshay had been lazy with his works anyone can see that he is asking for his own downfall. Also Kareena mentioned about the Boycotters which are trending those stuff and still watching the movies not for general public . South stars treats their fans well because they don't have their whole life infront of the public unlike Bollywood where media follows u everywhere. But in South fans can only see what they want to see they don't know anything about their personal lives. You can see recently Siddharth ( South actor ) visited Mumbai was seen smoking joints when he asked the media to not follow him as it doesn't happens in South .
Also you are now mentioning KGF was not copy paste but then u are also saying people only want good content lol how does good content exactly goes with KGF ?

    • @juanmata2131
      @juanmata2131 2 года назад

@ab Ofcourse Sid is not entire South. I'm just giving example of how they are not used to see such media people following them everywhere. Also Salman bhai isn't entire Bollywood you should know that.
Your main point was that good content movies would get appreciated but if u bring in KGF in that topic and say other absurd reasons like it was not a copy paste so it became hit then u are contradicting your own statement .
Also just like u and I have watched Forrest Gump similarly people like my family and many other such families in India haven't watched it so the movie was mainly meant for them only.
Also i don't care about Angry rantman anymore he just praises South movies even if they are bad i have unfollowed him . People were hating Pushpa and he still somehow praised it i knew right then something's wrong with him. I agree people maybe had enjoyed films like KGF and it's their personal choice just like u mentioned Heropanti . But to say it had good content is absurd it was plain horrible.
Good content movies are 96 , Super deluxe , Great Indian kitchen , Malayankunju , Jai bhim , Soorarai Pottru , Gargi , Vikram etc.
From Bollywood.. Article 15, URI , Batla house , Gully Boy , Gangubai , Runway 34 , Chichorre , Shershaah , Jalsa and many more and none of these were remakes. ( Mainly mentioned movies since 2019 )

I am not from India but I have been being a fan of bollywood since the age of 8 and am now 43, so my opinion on this movie as a viewer regardless of what happened BTS the transition between characters is justifiable when he is a kid he has that calmness figuring out what's different in him from others as adult he is full of energy as he came in terms with his life as an older man he is wiser. What I don't understand is why the new generation being so harsh on an industry that made such an impact in the entertainment industry.... please stop and think about the impact you make on a movie. You could not like a movie which is 100% fine at the end of the day it is a matter of preference but don't spread such bad reviews where even ppl who didn't watch the movie and were thinking to go will end up not going, depending on the amont of following you have you could contribute to the failure of a movie forget the rich ppl on set but think of the camera man, the light man the crew that are from your living class don't be the cause for them not having a job in the future, if a movie will fail let it be 80's way it was word of mouth and not bad mouthing on social media with a reach over millions just in the opening night causing it not even to have a weekend worth of income

Honestly, boycotting this movie because people feel it is problematic politically sounds hypocritical to me, because people are vividly talking about some films in a critical fashion, and they're just ignoring the problematic aspects of other films. All these reasons you have given are from the eyes of a movie critic, Jammy. All these points are technically valid too and now that I think about it reduce the rating I had given in my mind to this movie.
However, I haven't seen anyone who's seen the movie bring any of these reasons up before. I didn't notice these points while I was watching these movies & I'm pretty sure 99% of thee people wouldn't have either. I rather enjoyed the Bala part of the story & even bought that the Mujahideen soldier might get mistaken to be a Kashmiri local in the chaos of battle.
We all know why this movie failed. It's not the artistry or any of the reasons mentioned in this video. India is in a weird place right now and anyone falling on the wrong side of a certain section of people are bearing the brunt of it. Thankfully, some of part of South India still seems to be immune of this virus.
