I think the reason why the scale is not shown like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, because till date Bhansali showed the palaces and Mahals suited for Rajput Kings and. For Peshwas for that matter. But at the time of Sambhaji Maharaj, there were no big palaces built. There were only forts which were made by stones and mahals made with woods. Maximum luxury they could show was Shamianas only. I am disappointed that Bollywood has portrayed Hindavi Swarajya as the Maratha Empire, making it look like just a regional kingdom. We Maharashtrians, and even Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, never called it the Maratha Samrajya. Shivaji Maharaj's dream was to create Hindavi Swarajya across the entire Indian subcontinent-Swarajya meaning self-rule, free from slavery or foreign domination. His vision was to recreate Hindus' Bharatvarsh and establish a Ram Rajya, a kingdom of justice and prosperity for everyone. When Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took an oath, he cut his finger, offered his blood to the Shivling, and said, "हे हिंदवी स्वराज्य व्हावे ही श्रींची इच्छा आहे" (He Hindavi Swarajya vhave hi Shrinchi ichha aahe), which means "हे हिंदवी स्वराज्य हो, यह श्री की इच्छा है" in Hindi, or "The creation of Hindavi Swarajya is the will of Ishwar (Lord Shiva)." But Bollywood has changed this to say Rajya instead of Hindavi Swarajya, making it sound like just any kingdom. If they are using Shivaji Maharaj's words, they should keep them as they are without changing their meaning. Shivaji Maharaj never wanted to build an empire-his goal was always Swarajya, self-rule for the people. Changing his words and vision disrespects his mission. By calling it the "Maratha Empire," Bollywood is trying to make it look like a family-based, regional, or secular kingdom, which is not true to Shivaji Maharaj's divine vision of Hindavi Swarajya.
Absolutely! I remember reading the Amar Chitra Katha about Sambhaji as a kid and for me, he was more cerebral and his story, was simpler but more impactful. Seems much closer to the reality and what you are saying about the ideology of Shivaji Maharaj than this hyper masculine, aggression filled movie. Sambhaji Raje's story inspired me. Chhaava trailer disappointed me and even made me cringe in parts. Why don't they show the Maratha rulers for the very intelligent, democratic, mostly secular and amazing strategists they were? The Maratha regime under the legacy of these kings were one of the few to actually integrate and coexist with the culture of the people they invaded. Like the Pallavas. That trait, flexibility and soft affects have to be respected. Being gentle and showing tolerance is not a weakness Only the war aspect is shown here and their personality itself is reduced to that range of only hard facets. That is very sad. Liked the costumes though. That's all.

@dhimankalita1690 yeah to cheer up! But the dance showcased in trailer is a traditional marathi dance form "Lezim" so we don't see this an unnecessary input. These warriors were humans firstly they would dance and cheer in there free time. No judging there 👑
Sambhaji raje was scholar too , they need to highlight it too. He could converse in 13 languages and written multiple granths like budbhushan in sanskrit himself. That is why people might have shown gripe. Everyone in maharashtra have watched his story in 772 episodes in extruating detail. No film can do full justice and people should be happy that amarathi audience might get inspired to read up on that history rather than cribbing about it.
Do read about Dr. Amol Kolhe, who came with the title role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a grand Marathi serial Raja Shivchhatrapati in 2009. You would get pumped up listening to its title track by Ajay Atul. In 2017, he came with Swarajya Rakshak Sambhaji, playing Sambhaji Maharaj himself, again a grand Marathi serial. His contribution has been immense in instilling the belief in us that the story of Chha. Sambhaji Maharaj wasn’t a story of a defeat, rather it was about Courage and how his Balidan was crucial in the history. Both of his portrayals have garnered huge recognition and respect in Maharashtra.
During the later half of the series, Amol Kolhe left Shivsena and joined NCP Sharad Pawar and the serials climax also reflected the NCP ideology of appeasement, the show ended with very mellowed down sequences in a hurried manner, especially no torture sequences shown at all.

As a Maharashtrian who's read about, heard stories of and watched movies about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj since childhood, I think Vicky 's portrayal is on point. He gives us everything that we associate with Sambhaji Raje. Passion, aggression, love for our soil and our Shivaji Maharaj, love for our religion. Everything. I first thought they should have picked a Marathi actor to play the part but Vicky changed my opinion. Just one drawback I found is that Vicky seems to have missed getting our Marathi accent right. Let's see. Excited for this one. *छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज की जय!!* *जय भवानी जय शिवाजी!!*

@dhimankalita1690, if you don’t like it, then just don’t watch Indian movies. India is known for its joy and celebration during festivals and functions. If something good happens in our country or homes, we celebrate-it’s in our culture. You can’t write a song or screenplay , so stop acting like you know better. If there is rage and complaints about Vicky's pitch of acting, it is due to lack of understanding of Ch. Sambhaji's personality (as Jammy pointed out) . One thing is for SURE, Vicky will never go wrong with the 'pitch' of the character he is playing. However, I am apprhensive regarding the treatment of action and choreography which may stick out like a thorn in a rather great movie.

Indian movies are evolved from nataks, and natyasastra was evolved from ancient stories, legends, religious scriptures etc. in which characters/people used to express their happiness, sadness, grief, excitement, love etc. mostly through poetry and songs, hence songs became a medium to enhance emotions in movies but nowadays(since 80s-90s) songs are made for commercial purposes, without adding anything to the story or character development. Maybe that's why it feels forced.

If it was a south Indian movies with bulgar songs, there would be no complaints. But a movie that portrays a real man, that's intolerable. Such is India.
regarding the grandeur of the sets..... it is worth considering that Shivaji and Sambhaji weren't kings with a rich lineage. They became kings... out of the commoners (hence the name - rayatecha raja). And for them to establish their presence, they mostly had forts as their abode, not palaces. Comparing it with the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movies which showcased the opulence of Rajputs or Peshwas of an already established Maratha empire would be unfair. I may be wrong but I do feel the sets actually do justice to the story.
It's no surprise to me that this PRIVILEGED generation who sitting in their SOFAS are writing on TWITTER that Vicky is too Loud in portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj ...... Who can blame them TBH
From the trailer Vicky's potrayal does seem very accurate. How can anyone say otherwise ? Look at his eyes. Its almost as if he is possessed. The loudness during battle and prep scenes is required, that is how fierce the Maratha kings were. Chhatrapati Sambhaji especially so. He was a scholar, a poet and at the same time a fierce fierce warrior. His physicality as well has been defined the same way. Even when he died (I am not sure if they will even be able to show half the brutality of the torture ), his fierce exchanges with his torturers are well known and documented. Vicky seems to have nailed it. Screw the haters.

The trailer alone establishes Vicky and Akshay as fantabulous and amazing actors, whether it be dialogue deliveries, pitch, action and the way they're carrying themselves... Only thing I wish is less use of slowmos and more prominence to fast paced smooth actions as slowmos do ruin an action sequence if used quite frequently

All well said, there is honestly no reason to compare it with SLB. Every director have their own ways of presentation and storytelling. They needs to be different. If everything looks same, it becomes boring to look at those templates. Ex. We have KGF and the ripoff templates post that.
It's correct grammar. The sentence means that he refused to abandon his faith, i.e. the Hindu faith, for Islam, as in for accepting Islam. He refused to let go of the Hindu faith, refused to go 'for Islam'.
In my opinion the people are complaining because a popular Marathi TV series based on the same source novel by shivaji sawant had a slightly calm and composed take on sambhaji maharaj's charecter . So here in Maharashtra the people's perspective of sambhaji maharaj is from that charecter played by Amol Kolhe

Just watched the trailer. What an acting by Vicky kaushal. All the dialogues didn’t seem to be over the top and actually has weight in it. Especially when Vicky screams at Akshay khanna "if I die hundreds chava will born but when you d!e, the mughal empire will die" depicting what actually happened in the history also the kind of power aurangzeb too hold. This is no "i am great but he is less" movie. But, a Lion vs Vulture (chava vs aurang) fight. No one is below the belt. This has become very rare in Bollywood nowadays. As, most films be like "Muslim hain to dushman hain"
Anyone who complains about Vicky Kaushal "shouting" in the trailer is beyond stupid. WTF is a fierce badass warrior who can open a lion's jaw is supposed to do to hype up his soldiers, and people? Gently Whisper? PRATIK BHOSRADE IS SUCH A CLOWN 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂

PS1 and PS2 did not do well in the north belt because our own Tamilians do not like to talk about the bravery of the Cholas but, put the good for nothing Dravidian movement on a pedestal!
Its not about the decibel level, the one gripe was how they all are speaking in PROPER HINDI, with no marathi touch.. like the one I witnessed in Bajirao Mastani. Its like they are just cosplaying maratha dynasty, only with costumes. Vicky's demeanor is like any other king, I can't see a peshwa were it not for the costume. I am no maharashtrian, but when I saw Ranveer singh and the peshwa and PC as Kashibai.... it felt so ethereal with their demeanors. I can't see that here. PS: I know they both are different movies, but with how the similar the characters are, considering the times they are portraying, comparison is inevitable.
'Vicky's demeanor is like any other king, I can't see a peshwa' - Well the thing is that he's not playing a peshwa in this film. He's playing the role of chhatrapati. Peshwas were prime ministers... chhatrapati was king

Gashmeer Mahajani delivered an exceptional performance as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in the movie *Sarsenapati Hambirrao Mohite*. Similarly, Amol Khole portrayed Sambhaji Maharaj with grace in the Marathi TV serial *Swarajyaraksha Sambhaji*. However, two recent movies in this genre failed to resonate with the audience, mainly due to low production value (but it doesn't matter if efforts and not acting direction good ), repetitive historical drama, and miscasting of roles, leaving viewers questioning their appeal. As for the new trailer, while it looks visually impressive, it feels overly loud, and the sight of "Amcha Raja" (Our King) dancing comes across as a bit off-putting. Why would such a revered figure be depicted that way? 😤
You cannot compare rajput architecture to marathas. Maharashtrians are not slowly or flashy or over the top. They are simple Live simple life and their homes are simple no matter how rich they are. There were forts not palaces in the maratha empire.

Man I just know Akshay Khanna is about to drop one of the best villain portrayals in Indian cinema history, I hope I'm not wrong.
May be that could be the reason
Also SS Rajamouli movies like Bahubali
It's visuals and set design is on a similar level as Sye raa narasimha reddy

I am a Bengali but I can say You and your blood are blessed 🙏
But the problem is that it is like that ...
Being gentle and showing tolerance is not a weakness
Only the war aspect is shown here and their personality itself is reduced to that range of only hard facets. That is very sad.
Liked the costumes though. That's all.

Maybe that's why it feels forced.

regarding the grandeur of the sets..... it is worth considering that Shivaji and Sambhaji weren't kings with a rich lineage.

Yup, shouldn't have changed the original quote "Hindavi Swarajya vhave" to "Rajya vhave", this was meant to unite the community against the forced conversion of Hindus by Aurangzeb.
I cringe everytime i watch indian actor insert a dance number. Even in historical fiction the include a dance number. I can Never take indian films seriously lmao
As a maharashtrian, I understand the sentiment of people who worship chatrapati sambhaji. His work and life story has been portrayed beautifully on marathi TV, films and plays.
Vicky and producers had a huge task at hand. I hope their version works and won't hurt people.
Gonna be fireeeee…. One good movie for 2025 for sure

@@dhimankalita1690i mean kings use to dance in early times too lol.. may be not in sync but dance for sure

I watched on phone and I got goosebumps.. imagine watching ot in theatres.. hell ya.. bring it on.. 🔥🔥
Its ''हिंदवी स्वराज्य" not राज्य Bollywood Dont play with our Emotions and Facts.. 🙏🏻😡
Vicky Kaushal justified his role in the movie, excited to watch it. None of the Marathi actor played Sambhaji Maharaj s character in that way.
It's look cheap
Peshwa : Ranveer Singh
Chhatrapati : Vicky Kaushal 💯🔥
The best trailer I ever seen from Hindi cinema
Akbar : Hrithik Roshan
Chhratrapati Shivaji Maharaj - Sharad Kelkar
Problem is that every time a maratha warrior is depicted like a punjabi warrior as if there's no difference punjabi kings were known for their out loud signs meanwhile Marathas were known for ganimi neeti which was later studied by Vietnamese troops and stood against usa the whole identity of a maratha king who is smart/agile/stealthy and fierce is depicted in just one tone, they used to work battles with their stealth traps and not by just hurting shoutings on it and don't get me started on the dance things sad point about this is neither bollywood nor marathi cinema could depict maratha warrior kings as to what they were rather they just look like another south inspired movies which is loud
I wanna suggest u a marathi movie which i saw yesterday and loved it
Phulwanti, it is based on a novel withh the same name. The movie is set in eighteenth century in pehswa era.The story revolves around Phulwanti, a profound bharatnattyam dancer and a peshwa scholar who get into a battle of her art and his intellect.I highly recommend u to watch it. Its pure cinema.l
I am pretty sure that Phulwanti was a Lavani dancer. (Lavani was a classical Marathi dance.)
lavani not Bharatnatyam. Lavani is a folk dance form .
Chava is amazing. I liked everything from the film but there is just one thing i didn't like, that is rashmika as yesubai. They should have casted an authentic Marathi actress for accuracy. But overall trailer is good❤
Vicky kaushal is officially the BEST ACTOR in India right now..and no one can change that mind. This guy deserves every bit of it.. THIS WAS A FUCKING LONG DUE!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is opulent to the point of looking fake. The scale in Chhava looks more period appropriate honestly
AR Rahman has given us the Jodha Akhbar and cannot wait to see what he has given for Chaava 🙌
Though the budget might be low the costumes and detailing for the film is on point
Jodhaa akbar jihadi terrorist propaganda movi
for me, chaava trailer is visual 'spectacle'
but, emotionally 'sceptical'.
Bollywood look stupid specially in action
Have you seen beginning scene of Gladiator or Kingdom of heaven the warrior should be confident not screaming with insecurity
I am a proud Tamilian and I care about any Hindu warrior who fought against the Muslim invaders to preserve our Hindu Sharanya vulture and identity. PS1 and PS2 did not do well in the north belt because our own Tamilians do not like to talk about the bravery of the Cholas but, put the good for nothing Dravidian movement on a pedestal!
Too loud ??? I thought Vicky's energy was a notch down based on the character
we are not missing sanjay leela bhansali scale but SS Rajamouli Vision & scale like Bahubali🔥🔥🔥
'Vicky's demeanor is like any other king, I can't see a peshwa' -
Well the thing is that he's not playing a peshwa in this film. He's playing the role of chhatrapati. Peshwas were prime ministers... chhatrapati was king
@@KavyaSingh-k8v The biggest blunder here is that they casted Rasmika... I mean there plenty of good marathi actresses out their and you chose her!!!!!
@@cubbak8 thank you for the information. but my point was I don't think even a maratha king should've been portrayed using the normal hindi, they could've worked on the accent to make it look a little more authentic.
@@KavyaSingh-k8v hmm
🛑 I don’t know what ppl r talking about that Vicky was too loud 😳.......I also do NOT think Vicky’s Temperament n pitch or grit were spot on either!!! He needed to be more forceful n passionate here. I can see Ranbir, Ranveer, even Shahid doing more justice in this role....Vicky is a great actor but not all roles are suited for every actor.
Bhai ek analysis video banane ki request hai. Indian tv industry ne 90s se aaj tak kai supernatural shows banaye hai. Jo early 2000s tak hit bhi huye. Lekin aaj hum tv shows ko hi chance tak nhi dete. Kyu aur kya ye sahi baat hai? Kyuki mene great concept & vision but limited target audience (eg Naagin) ya flop shows bhi dekhe hai....
When I watched the trailer I was really intrigued but didn't know its getting criticised.. wow people are really unpredictable
They should have opted for a pan india release since the scale looks quite large.
I too got goosebumps when Vicky kaushal shouted har har mahadev. I can't wait to see this movie in the theatre. It's a must-watch movie.
बाकी secular शेवट दाखवल्यास काही खरे नाही.. just because avoiding real history.🚩🚩🚩🚩
" Chapri" movies become blockbuster hits only cause the population of chapris far out number jammy viewers.
The urge to shout every word after watching the trailer >>>
Casting Rashmika just for her face value is a poor choice; Marathi theater has far more talented actresses.
You cannot compare rajput architecture to marathas. Maharashtrians are not slowly or flashy or over the top. They are simple
Live simple life and their homes are simple no matter how rich they are. There were forts not palaces in the maratha empire.
