Now the difference between the XLR and the Allante is, the XLR is a cool idea, a Cadillac Corvette, that sounds cool, the Allante is in that Chrysler TC range of who cares
This was like old home week for me. My daily driver is a second generation Prius, my show car is a 1991 Allante and I interviewed Jay at the Lemons Race at the Autobahn in Joliet, Illinois a few years ago. Keep up the good work.
Neither of you seem to have heard of the 1923 "copper cooled" Chevrolet. Built 700, scraped half before they left the factory and another 250 sent to dealers and returned. Sold 100 to customers and bought 98 of those back and literally dumped them into Lake Erie. Only two survived, one touring bought by a stubborn farmer (in a museum in Reno) and a roadster bought by of all people Henry Ford which is in the Ford Museum in Dearborn. So GM has a long history of crappy cars...
I remember when they were first coming out my grandfather was talking about the shipping from Italy. He said he was kind of serious about getting one. But he went to more affordable luxury route the Cutlass Sierra.
But when you're inside one, it bangs loudly & the windshield frame rattles strongly all at the same time at the slightest whiff of a road imperfection once it gets up over 25-40mph or so. The 1987 I was in (& am now purchasing🤪🪓) doesn't have the speed-sensitive adaptive damping of the later 🧩🧩 of 💩, so it was (is...🧐) EVEN WORSE!👹
When I watched that Married With Children episode as a teenager, I thought the car name was a fake, imaged by the writers of the show. It was many, many years later before I found out it was a real car. Why did Cadillac allow it to be used in the show?
Watching the vid now so maybe you guys do mention it but - donald trump had a gold alante when it was new - i learned that doing a last minute book report on art of the deal in 5th grade
That fact doesn't surprise me. Nothing about that narcisitic douchbag surprises me. Thanks for one more notable (for car guys) fact about *the worst* US president ever.

@@azhurelpigeon For good measure I'd say 70s American cars kind'a suck too. Weird I have to say this, but concepts are not real cars. The Viper is the only thing you mention that is cool, but it's so late that I don't think of it as a 90s car.
@@fredygump5578 Uhh the viper came out in ‘92, that specific generation model came out in ‘96. You just seem to have an unfounded bias against this era of American cars based on a lack of knowing about them. It’s fine, I mean I used to hate almost all 90s cars as I used to only like 50s & 60s classics, but the more I’ve learned about cars as a whole the more I’ve learned to appreciate all cars. Hopefully you can do that too at some point 🤷♂️
Lemons racing is the thing I most envy of the USA
Freedom loving people doing cool shit because they can.
Stay free America.
Agree!
Allante mafia coming for you two...R.I.P. ... Thanks for the good times.
I was going to come in here and complain that you didn't include the de rigueur Bundy Bounce clip. But now, I have nothing to complain about.

this just made my morning, love everything you do, thank you Nick and Jay
I’ve always wanted one of these. A pos SL can’t winter. This is front wheel drive “sports car” can winter. Pininfarinna winter beater? Yes please

It's coupes as heavy as the allante that make me not worry about needing to shove a bunch of batteries into a lighter car to convert it to electric
All the reasons you listed why people hate it is why I love it.
Thats my car at 34 secs.. Great Show. 👍
Q: "What is a Cadillac Allante?"
A: One of the worst mistakes ever made by General Motors.
Northstar Engineers: "Hold my beer."

Kelly Bundy?
You can see that cloudlike Cadillac suspension at work, it sort of floats over bumps

Always appreciate a Steve McDaniel appearance!
Better than an Allanté Al Dénte

They can't stop it. The 1996 Federal Trademark Dilution Act (“FTDA”) specifically allows for parody exclusions.
Paid product placement!🤗

I don’t hate all Allantes just this one. The car doesn’t have any side mirrors and they drive like it.
I think that you're mistaken about the competitors to the Allanté. The real product-comparison was the Chrysler K-Car.
No, Chrysler had their own version. Look up the Maserati TC...🤨
@@joerosen5464 That "Maserati" was based on the LeBaron K-car. So, yeah … you agreed with me. LOL. I'll take it.
