That fight with the Rays had me of the edge of my seat. The runner seriously deserved way more applause for that, that was amazing.

Jaguar King is always so tough on himself for messing things up, even though his runs still end up being really great.
Ive finished this game on extreme difficulty once and it was insanely difficult so i really respect this speedrunner

I really enjoyed this run. I love that jaguar was thanking for donations, it's nice to hear the runner acknowledge these very generous donors.
During the guard rush near the 30 minute mark when everyone started clapping early. "Not yet Snake!.. it's not over yet!"
I felt really bad for Jaguar whenever he had a messup due to audio issues or getting a jump wrong or starting a cycle too early/late. The pressure must be killer.
I'm pretty sure this is my favorite game of all-time. There's fun everywhere.
I took an hour to navigate the Tanker.
I have never felt the fabled feeling of "Why is he so much better than me" until this speedrun of a game which took me 18 hours on normal.
I have so much respect for anyone who does the Ray fight on anything higher than normal. I almost lost my sanity on it
Jesus, that was hard. It only beat it after sleeping and playing with a refreshed mind. Same for the final boss in MGS3.

That was a good run! Jaguar King put on an enjoyable run, even with the mistakes, but how he handles them makes him a good runner. I know I don't have the skills to pull off this game on European Extreme, so being able to watch the run was something.
In all seriousness glad to see another Metal Gear game make it into GDQs.

EDIT: chokehold on solidus is why i never beat EE MGS2, glad to see even super high caliber players also struggles with that

I played the PAL version, European Extreme in 2003, and passed the choke hold part somehow keeping my wrist intact. It hurt for days.
This run is excellent. I remember when I was trying to earn the Platinum trophy for this game, I spent so much time on the Harrier and RAYs. Good run :)
gutted about the start, proper stitched up on the audio! I didn't follow Jaguar King until today, but this was one of the best runs I've seen on GDQ so far! Just wished you would have shown what rank you had got at the end! GG top runner! xx

Jeez I cried when I was a teen because I couldn't get past the choke on the Xbox version back in 2006. I quit playing for a year until I found out you can mash X and Y during the choke

It took my 13 hours to finish this...
So... what was the actual run time? He said they went by in-game time after the credits and unless I'm remembering incorrectly also said at some point that the WR was 1:36, right? So by the GDQ timer this was a new WR but presumably not in reality since they were all extremely blase at the end of the run. I am a little confused as to why in-game time would be longer though... so what in the world did I miss?

you can also totally own vamp by laying in the top right corner and using the nikita. but not if your tryingto stun kill him

mikhail bostick nope because they stopped the time after the solidus fight instead of the actual stop point after the credits, which means he wasn't as close to WR as you might think. Credits usually take a little over 10mins, so his actual time would have been around 1:42

Francisco Hernández Muñoz nope normally time stops after the credits but because this is a marathon and the credits take over 10 minutes they decided to stop after killing solidus

Except the bridge from shell 1-2. In the original, the bomb sensors could be killed by SOCOM, PSG1 was not necessary

I'm not bragging but I beat the Ray fight when I was in the teens but I had like 20+ continues 😂😂😂. But my strategy was very similar to the runners.
I remember beating those 20 things in extreme back in the day but i never beat solidus choke afterwards
at 43:55. Very deaf-blind-magic alike soldier.
Here's a tip for any of the metal gear button mashing scenes, get an electric toothbrush and remove the top of the brush. You now have a little nub that moves up and down very fast, great for button mashing. Thank me later
