Basically, Ellen sacrificing 80% of world pops to end the curse of tragic killing and war cycle of 2000 years. Another choice is letting Marley and the world destroy Paradis and the titan curse continues for god knows how many thousands of years more. Not an easy decision for a 15 years old kid.
80% of that world wanted to destroy Paradis, so it's justified. Eren saw the future, and already knew that peace was never an option. Paradisians have a right to live, just as much as those other non-Paradisians regardless of population. Think about it this way. If Paradis was Earth, and everyone else were Aliens, no one would have qualms about killing 80% of the Aliens population in order to save Earth, regardless of how much more significant the Alien's population was compared to Earth's.

The non-Paradisians have enough numbers to keep replenishing them, no matter how much you kill. Eren had to even the playing field, if Paradis was to ever have any hope of survival. Those non-Paradisians weren't so "innocent" either. They were just ignorant to the plight of those around them. For Paradis, there was no other choice, but to wipe out 80% of the other nations population, before they had a chance to attack again. It was kill or be killed. The end justifies the means, but only as a last resort. This was Paradis's last resort.
Annie, an excellent character She was the only Warrior not to be brainwashed by Marley's propaganda, the first one to not see the Eldians of Paradis Island as "devils" and yet because of her duty, she has no choice but to obey the commands of the Marley military. By being the cold badass she is and avoiding making friends, she's saving herself from being emotional, to not be attached to her fellow cadets. However, even she could not fully withdraw her feelings. Saving Connie at the supply building in Trost, crying when she had to remove the ODM gear from Marco and sparing Armin for seemingly no reason on the 57th Expedition. A catalyst for Eren unable to transform immediately following the underground capture attempt because of his conflicted feelings. Isayama should bring her back somehow even though she's still in crystal in the final arc of the manga. Imagine her either choosing to continue her duty and side with Marley or finally choosing Eren and the Paradis Island military and fighting alongside them against Marley. As her father said, she'll come back... because she promised
My prediction is that at the end of the next chapter eren and zeke will release only the shiganshina wall titans, Annie will feel it like how all titan shifters felt the power of the founding titan in season 2, and then after that hopefully we'll get a whole chapter (120) dedicated to her where she wakes up and gets out of the crystal (with everything being from her viewpoint). That's the only way isayama can pay us back

(MANGA SPOILERS) Yeah, I feel that Annie will appear again 100%. The actual arc is happening in Paradis and we have already seen that the jaw titan can destroy that crystal and now Falco will inherit that titan (maybe he won't be on the Marleyan side). And Annie has been a pretty popular character in every popularity poll made in Japan so I won't lose hope, I want to see her again too :)
Well said. At first, I was really pissed on her but now, it all makes sense. Out of the 3 warriors, she was the kindest one and less cruel? I felt like Bertholt is kind too but then he massacred innocent people twice even though he must realized it by that time that the people of Paradis are not evil.
Joey Mar Ampong Well as he said, they came too far to stop and turn back. Even Annie knew this. Him being the colossal titan meant no matter what, out of all of them HE had to do the most in terms of destruction and death, and in the end he decided if that’s what his life was meant to be, then get it over with and maybe someday he’d be able to stop and, just like Reiner, remember those times, even if it haunted him. So it wasn’t a matter of him killing innocents twice, since if anything, that meant Reiner would have had to bust through the walls by himself, and they can’t risk him out there alone and tired. Being the colossal titan meant that out of everyone, he had to be the one to do the most damage, which was ironic since he always seemed to be the gentle guy of the group. They each have blood on their hands, and Annie knew the truth from the beginning. Marcell and Bertholdt we’re slowly figuring it out, but Reiner refused to believe that they as warriors were doing evil things, and the fact he held that denial the longest out of all of them leads to his constant memories of all the things they had done. Bertholdt realized that he was right, that Eldians behind the walls were innocent and unknowing, but he knew after what all 3 of them had done, there was no point on going back on it now. They were knee deep, so to speak, and even Annie knew this. I never understand why people assume Annie is all fine and dandy even though we gradually see Bert and Reiner go through this for even longer, and how it effects Reiner years down the line. They all did bad, and they all felt that in the end. So why people stand by Annie and shun the other 2 makes no sense to me.
Annie completely lost hope on humanity when she was young, she didn't care about marley or paradis she only want to see her father again, when she was entering the crystal she was crying because she knew reiner and bert would go back to marley without her she knew she wouldn't see her father again and when she finally woke up she joined the alliance for the smal chance of seeing her father again but when hange told her the ugly truth she was completely broken she didn't want to get attached to anyone again but she saw hope in armin she saw future in him and even tho she was fighting herself so she wouldn't be attached to him so much because she knows he's mostly not coming back she will decide to go back to him and the alliance, she'd rather die with armin and the alliance while fighting eren and not live in a world were she failed to protect her father and stood in a ship doing nothing while eren killed the rest of the people she cares about
To be fair eren wouldnt have become the man of devil if only his friends lives a normal life But there goes the devils and the people they call themselves a god, they ruined the kind of freedom that eren had and destroyed his dreams so he became the devil and a god
@@anshi5098 What was happening was that annies dad and some other eldians saw erens message about the rumbling happening, and wanted to escape the area. The guards were not eldians and didnt know that the rumbling was coming, they were asking for proof, and then annies father started fighting the guard in order to get past them, and whatever happens to him next is currently unknown.

@@Ribsi Mikasa's voice actor ( Yui Ishikawa ) has a song using the same melody as this one ( though the lyrics are different, it's called " No matter where you are " and is sung from Mikasa's POV to Eren ), I don't think it's a coincidence.
@@VDA19 I do know this song. Yui's got a beautiful voice ngl. But it's a character song. It tells who Mikasa is. Kaji Yuki has done one as well called "helpless world". Though I don't think it's a coincidence that "No matter where you are" and "Call your name" have a similar melody.

Annie is the definition of someone who did not get loved enough for who she is despite all her efforts she felt undesirable so she didn't care for anyone as nobody can see what she really needs till she gave a promise for her father and that promise meant a lot for her cuz it was the symbol of love and compassion despite what she was about to make she knew that nobody will forgive her except her foster father she wasn't a bad person all she needed was a little bit of care and attention and sombody to lean on and by her side

The tragic fact that Eren loved Mikasa so much and wanted to fulfill his promise to wrap the scarf around her forever so bad, but couldn't. Some fans, who do not like the ending, need to realize that what confuses them is the exposition of both Eren’s selfish and selfless desires and decisions in Chapter 139. Our complexities make us humans, not destroy our characters-same for Eren Jaeger and the others.

(138 Spoilers) It really hits hard when you realize how no matter how hard she tries, Mikasa will never be able to save Eren. He’s destined to die. Eren was the one seeking freedom, but if you really think about it, Mikasa was the one trying to free Eren from his destiny all along. They ran away to live at peace. But in the end; the cycle will repeat.
@@HellooBrooklynn Unlike Eren, Mikasa always had the freedom to choose. It was simply hard to let go of the person she cares about the most. She had a clear objective to protect the one she loves. But Eren barely had any free will, if any at all. Ymir set him up to be this vessel for freedom since he was young. He was always chasing after something he could never have. He was the true slave.
The sad thing is, Annie didn't want to do the things she had to do. It hurts my heart a little, because when I first watched Attack on Titan, I didn't see the deeper meaning. And by seeing the other seasons and reading the manga, along with listening to the music--the world they live in is cruel. Annie knows this, and doesn't want to do the things she did, but had no choice.
At first i was mad abt the things she did, but when i try to understand deeper, i know the reasons for her actions and i felt so bad for her she deserves better:( they all deserve better:(
This anime really stuck with me. The plot twists, storyline, characters and their development and backstories, the OSTs, the moral grayness. No one is right or wrong. Depends on what POV or in their case, their birth place.
After Chapter 138 I think it's quite clear that the male version of this song shows Eren's feelings for Mikasa and this version shows Mikasa's feelings for Eren.
No, the version of Mikasa was No Matter Where You Are. It's also a melody of Call Your Name. Basically CYN is Eren's POV and NMWYA is Mikasa's POV. The songs answer each other. It's beautiful.
I love this song, not only is it just beautiful and one of the best from the soundtrack (imo), but it also fits many characters like Mikasa, Annie, Sasha, even Ymir and Historia mikasa: "we dreamt a new life/house, some place to be at peace" Annie: "I dont have that power on my side forever" Sasha: "im crying missing my lover" Ymir and Historia: "I wish I could be with her till my last day" and ofc they all fit the "im standing alone, calling out your name" and the "I lost my dreams in this disaster" part
me too im literally crying every night from the moment i finished reading that damn chapter.. it started from 2013 and now 2021 im very attached to this masterpiece i can't belive this sht is ending really i can't believe it but we must accept reality this series literally changed my point of view of soo many things in this shitty world theres no wrong or right everybody is a slave of something however there are consecuencies and there are limits. But one of the most important lessons ive learned from this masterpiece is that human lives are very very fragile your mental and fisical health is very very important you can live a long life if you take care of yourself , all those deaths of the scouts, the sacrifices are very real, i think that a person must chase after their dremas with no hesitation, don't live the life that others want you to live like historia did , there are still so many lessons but even if this masterpiece is ending it was a honor for me to form part of this fandom i met lots of aot fans which maked this aot expirience better, the memes, theories etc anyways take care of yourselves guys and remember to keep pushing forward. shinzou sasageyo!

There is something wrong with my eyes and it's been happening for months, I keep thinking I'm abnormal, I don't get why this is happening. I'm starting to get insecure about everything, my ears have gotten so worse and this all happened in the span of 1-3 months and it's so fucking ridiculous. I want to badly be slim but nothing works. I barely eat food anymore, It's not because I want to lose weight but I just can't. My dad is terrible and abusive but I do not want to go into detail about what he did. I just need someone to talk to. My eyelashes and eyebrows have been falling out, I used to be so pretty, my eyelashes were so long but it's coming out and landing onto my eye every time and it's so fucking annoying. Annie is one of the best character in the show. She's what Mikasa could have been and infact they share a lot of things in commons. Their both physical powerhouses and Excel in combat. They're both driven to protect their love ones. Mikas has Eren and Annie has her father. Annie doest care about anyone else other than his father and wasn't even brainwashed like Reiner and the other kids. She knew the lies of her country and did what she could to save her father and to give him a chance. "Soldiers" in their country are given certain privileges hence the reason most of them wants to be a warrior. She's distant and cold towards Eren and his friends because she knows her job. She doesn't want to get attached and half ass the job but she failed. She couldn't stop herself from caring. She saved Connie when she didn't need too (Connie was one of the top scouts so him being dead is actually good for them). Spared Armin which costed her greatly. Helped one of the Royal guards being beaten up. She was crying and hesitating about Marco because she knows him and among the three during that time, she looked like the most troubled. Reiner needed to remind him about the mission, his father to do her job.
@Hazel Pham Annie has no family or friends within the walls that she needs to protect, you'd see her breakdowns from final chapters when she developed emotional attachment with our boy arumin and with his dad during the battle so basically Mikasa's actions aka losing her cool whenever eren getting in trouble and sometimes armin in danger is due to the fact that those 2 are special to her, also how she cried so much upon losing ms potato girl. both embodied with deep emotions hidden from their stoic aura

One of my favourite female characters. The first time I saw her I already like her. Even after revealing her as the female titan and killing Levi's squad, I still don't blame her. She didn't get brainwashed, avoid making friends to not get emotionally attached. She showed that she has feelings and she hates to kill people in many instances. She's just another victim just like any child soldier irl. Fulfilling her duty as a warrior by getting blood on her hands. She got anger outburst, that's her way of coping after suppressing her emotions too much. Just like how Hange tortured Sannes, and how Sannes tortured pastor Nick. Armin killed the girl who tried to shoot Jean. People kill because of different opinions, or simply by being in a different group.

//ch138 spoiler!! I'm not a shipper but I can't believe some people in this fandom are still in denial that Eren cares deeply for Mikasa. Yes, this song is obviously Eren's POV. The first panels of chapter 1 and now, chapter 138, are enough proof. This story started with Eren and Mikasa, and it will end with Eren and Mikasa. You can ship whoever you want to, but don't deny canon content in respect to the author. Besides, this is not a romance manga, as it focused more on the tragedy of war, life, and death.
The song is actually in Eren's POV and Mikasa's POV. The person singing in the first part about a girl who gave all her love is Eren then it shifts into the perspective of that girl he's talking about ("I said I gave all my love to you") which is Mikasa.
SPOILER: Can't believe that Armin and Annie actually became a couple and no longer have the curse. Literally the best possible ending for them. Edit 3: Now even Yams drew an art of with them, Annie wearing Armins cardigan and him hugging her. Lmao Edit 2: Bruh they appeared in the romantic commentary of EM saying both confessed in the boat and in the guidebook it literally says, their hearts are connected. Edit: Yes it is confirmed. Literally they are already married for the Japanese. She spent her whole life trying to get back to her father and live in peace but she went with Armin and left her father. Really you all need to see that Yams style with romance is like that. I don't care that they weren't show kissing or hand holding in a time skip because Yams has spent the last 10 chapters showing them fall in love. Even in this chapter just look at her eyes when he appears. They spent the next three years living toguether in Marley. Even their last interaction as characters it's them both and she looks at him fondly. Or her asking for reassurance from him (this is so telling) and going to stand by his side, already knowing the contents of the letter before he read them to the others (Shared a cabin?) Or even Annie who spent her whole life trying to reach her father and live peacefully but she has gone with Armin and left her father... It's obvious. So much so that for Japanese, koreans, Chinese they are already married... We were never going to get anything more explicit than this. In fact not a single couple have actually had a fisical or endearing term in this whole story that didn't result in the immediate death of one or in a morbid act of display or was some NPC with no face. It's obvious that they are a couple, by the standards of this story, it is as canon as it gets. You don't need everything to be spoonfed to you. The same for Falco and Gabbie, you know they will eventually get married on the future.
For years, this song has always been one of my favorite AOT's song. And after chapter 138. I can say no more. Damn you Isayama and the composers. Just one more chapter. I think Gemie's version voice is the most fit for this song.

this is personally my all-time-favorite ost from SNK and i played this exact song while reading the manga of sasha's death. so glad they used this, it hits even more that they used an orchestral version too :( i really hope they use this as well when annie's back.

Basically, Ellen sacrificing 80% of world pops to end the curse of tragic killing and war cycle of 2000 years. Another choice is letting Marley and the world destroy Paradis and the titan curse continues for god knows how many thousands of years more. Not an easy decision for a 15 years old kid.
80% of that world wanted to destroy Paradis, so it's justified. Eren saw the future, and already knew that peace was never an option. Paradisians have a right to live, just as much as those other non-Paradisians regardless of population. Think about it this way. If Paradis was Earth, and everyone else were Aliens, no one would have qualms about killing 80% of the Aliens population in order to save Earth, regardless of how much more significant the Alien's population was compared to Earth's.

In most wars, people don't actually give a shit about the war, and just want to live their own lives. But guess what? That doesn't make them innocent. That just makes them compliant bystanders. We already saw what happened in the alternate future, where Eren and Mikasa lived together. Everyone in Paradis were to be wiped out. The non-Paradisians didn't give Eren a choice, so they paid the price. They knew exactly what the Founding Titan was capable of, and still they attacked. You can't say you didn't deserve to be attacked, when you try to wipe out a nation, and they retaliate back.
For Paradis, there was no other choice, but to wipe out 80% of the other nations population, before they had a chance to attack again. It was kill or be killed. The end justifies the means, but only as a last resort. This was Paradis's last resort.
Annie, an excellent character
She was the only Warrior not to be brainwashed by Marley's propaganda, the first one to not see the Eldians of Paradis Island as "devils" and yet because of her duty, she has no choice but to obey the commands of the Marley military.
By being the cold badass she is and avoiding making friends, she's saving herself from being emotional, to not be attached to her fellow cadets.
However, even she could not fully withdraw her feelings. Saving Connie at the supply building in Trost, crying when she had to remove the ODM gear from Marco and sparing Armin for seemingly no reason on the 57th Expedition.
A catalyst for Eren unable to transform immediately following the underground capture attempt because of his conflicted feelings.
Isayama should bring her back somehow even though she's still in crystal in the final arc of the manga. Imagine her either choosing to continue her duty and side with Marley or finally choosing Eren and the Paradis Island military and fighting alongside them against Marley.
As her father said, she'll come back... because she promised
My prediction is that at the end of the next chapter eren and zeke will release only the shiganshina wall titans, Annie will feel it like how all titan shifters felt the power of the founding titan in season 2, and then after that hopefully we'll get a whole chapter (120) dedicated to her where she wakes up and gets out of the crystal (with everything being from her viewpoint). That's the only way isayama can pay us back

(MANGA SPOILERS) Yeah, I feel that Annie will appear again 100%. The actual arc is happening in Paradis and we have already seen that the jaw titan can destroy that crystal and now Falco will inherit that titan (maybe he won't be on the Marleyan side). And Annie has been a pretty popular character in every popularity poll made in Japan so I won't lose hope, I want to see her again too :)

Well as he said, they came too far to stop and turn back. Even Annie knew this. Him being the colossal titan meant no matter what, out of all of them HE had to do the most in terms of destruction and death, and in the end he decided if that’s what his life was meant to be, then get it over with and maybe someday he’d be able to stop and, just like Reiner, remember those times, even if it haunted him.
So it wasn’t a matter of him killing innocents twice, since if anything, that meant Reiner would have had to bust through the walls by himself, and they can’t risk him out there alone and tired.
Being the colossal titan meant that out of everyone, he had to be the one to do the most damage, which was ironic since he always seemed to be the gentle guy of the group.
They each have blood on their hands, and Annie knew the truth from the beginning. Marcell and Bertholdt we’re slowly figuring it out, but Reiner refused to believe that they as warriors were doing evil things, and the fact he held that denial the longest out of all of them leads to his constant memories of all the things they had done. Bertholdt realized that he was right, that Eldians behind the walls were innocent and unknowing, but he knew after what all 3 of them had done, there was no point on going back on it now. They were knee deep, so to speak, and even Annie knew this.
I never understand why people assume Annie is all fine and dandy even though we gradually see Bert and Reiner go through this for even longer, and how it effects Reiner years down the line. They all did bad, and they all felt that in the end. So why people stand by Annie and shun the other 2 makes no sense to me.
Annie completely lost hope on humanity when she was young, she didn't care about marley or paradis she only want to see her father again, when she was entering the crystal she was crying because she knew reiner and bert would go back to marley without her she knew she wouldn't see her father again and when she finally woke up she joined the alliance for the smal chance of seeing her father again but when hange told her the ugly truth she was completely broken she didn't want to get attached to anyone again but she saw hope in armin she saw future in him and even tho she was fighting herself so she wouldn't be attached to him so much because she knows he's mostly not coming back she will decide to go back to him and the alliance, she'd rather die with armin and the alliance while fighting eren and not live in a world were she failed to protect her father and stood in a ship doing nothing while eren killed the rest of the people she cares about

The guards were not eldians and didnt know that the rumbling was coming, they were asking for proof, and then annies father started fighting the guard in order to get past them, and whatever happens to him next is currently unknown.

The tragic fact that Eren loved Mikasa so much and wanted to fulfill his promise to wrap the scarf around her forever so bad, but couldn't. Some fans, who do not like the ending, need to realize that what confuses them is the exposition of both Eren’s selfish and selfless desires and decisions in Chapter 139. Our complexities make us humans, not destroy our characters-same for Eren Jaeger and the others.

The sad thing is, Annie didn't want to do the things she had to do. It hurts my heart a little, because when I first watched Attack on Titan, I didn't see the deeper meaning. And by seeing the other seasons and reading the manga, along with listening to the music--the world they live in is cruel. Annie knows this, and doesn't want to do the things she did, but had no choice.
At first i was mad abt the things she did, but when i try to understand deeper, i know the reasons for her actions and i felt so bad for her she deserves better:( they all deserve better:(

But one of the most important lessons ive learned from this masterpiece is that human lives are very very fragile your mental and fisical health is very very important you can live a long life if you take care of yourself , all those deaths of the scouts, the sacrifices are very real, i think that a person must chase after their dremas with no hesitation, don't live the life that others want you to live like historia did , there are still so many lessons but even if this masterpiece is ending it was a honor for me to form part of this fandom i met lots of aot fans which maked this aot expirience better, the memes, theories etc anyways take care of yourselves guys and remember to keep pushing forward. shinzou sasageyo!

What journey it’s just a show
Annie is one of the best character in the show. She's what Mikasa could have been and infact they share a lot of things in commons. Their both physical powerhouses and Excel in combat. They're both driven to protect their love ones. Mikas has Eren and Annie has her father. Annie doest care about anyone else other than his father and wasn't even brainwashed like Reiner and the other kids. She knew the lies of her country and did what she could to save her father and to give him a chance. "Soldiers" in their country are given certain privileges hence the reason most of them wants to be a warrior.
She's distant and cold towards Eren and his friends because she knows her job. She doesn't want to get attached and half ass the job but she failed. She couldn't stop herself from caring.
She saved Connie when she didn't need too (Connie was one of the top scouts so him being dead is actually good for them). Spared Armin which costed her greatly. Helped one of the Royal guards being beaten up. She was crying and hesitating about Marco because she knows him and among the three during that time, she looked like the most troubled. Reiner needed to remind him about the mission, his father to do her job.
That's why Annie is best girl for me. Shes flawless in a way.

To think that attack on titan came to an end with a scenery that incarnate every single lyrics of this song, especially when eren said "i don't want to die" "i don't want mikasa to love someone else" "i don't want her to forget about me" it's jst like this part "i wish i could be with her till my last day"

One of my favourite female characters. The first time I saw her I already like her. Even after revealing her as the female titan and killing Levi's squad, I still don't blame her. She didn't get brainwashed, avoid making friends to not get emotionally attached. She showed that she has feelings and she hates to kill people in many instances. She's just another victim just like any child soldier irl. Fulfilling her duty as a warrior by getting blood on her hands. She got anger outburst, that's her way of coping after suppressing her emotions too much. Just like how Hange tortured Sannes, and how Sannes tortured pastor Nick. Armin killed the girl who tried to shoot Jean. People kill because of different opinions, or simply by being in a different group.

I'm not a shipper but I can't believe some people in this fandom are still in denial that Eren cares deeply for Mikasa. Yes, this song is obviously Eren's POV. The first panels of chapter 1 and now, chapter 138, are enough proof. This story started with Eren and Mikasa, and it will end with Eren and Mikasa. You can ship whoever you want to, but don't deny canon content in respect to the author. Besides, this is not a romance manga, as it focused more on the tragedy of war, life, and death.
The song is actually in Eren's POV and Mikasa's POV. The person singing in the first part about a girl who gave all her love is Eren then it shifts into the perspective of that girl he's talking about ("I said I gave all my love to you") which is Mikasa.
