Yay, Neva! Our minds are thinking alike again! I want new spring fabric but need to use what I have first. This quilt pattern is great for scraps and especially for a last minute baby quilt! Have fun playing in your scrap pile. 🧵😀🥰 Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I have made numerous quick baby quilts like this, with the stripes going side to side. I love YOUR colors and fabrics. Very pretty. Anyone would love a special gift like this. You explain and demonstrate very well. Thank you for sharing this with us.😊🎉❤
Glad you enjoyed this video, Liz! These two fabric worked really well together. An easy quilt is even better when it looks awesome, too. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I love strip quilting. I made one out of kid stuff, dinos, animals and such. Turned out really good. Now I'm pumped up to do another one. Thanks for the fun. 🤗😸
So glad you enjoyed this video, Pat! Easy quilts are a great way to showcase gorgeous fabrics to let them shine. This will also be a great Valentine and Easter quilt. I need to get busy! Thanks so much for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
You win Lea, I made two for twins coming in October since I saw your awesome video. I loved how you shared to contrast a dark and a light. This is often so overwhelming to me when trying to choose fabrics that work amazingly together. Thank you!😊

I made one similar to this but, with different size Christmas fabric that all coordinated with each other. I used white in between each fabric strip. It turned out really cute. I love the colors you chose for this one.
The Christmas fabrics sound wonderful, Linda! I'm anxious to try some different ideas with this pattern. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Hi Lea Louise, Yeah this is definitely an awesome baby quilt. I can see it bigger in colors that won’t show stains and use it for a picnic quilt. Wouldn’t that be so nice? Does people even go on picnics anymore? I don’t know, but it’s a good thought. Lol Good video, I’m learning lots, so thank you for sharing. God Bless ❤
Great idea, Pam! Yes, there are still a few picnic-ers out there. My dtr-in-law always brings along the denim rag quilt I made my son and it works perfectly for a picnic. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial! Thanks for watching and blessing to you and your family. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise

I love the wavy line quilting you do! It is my "go to"!! I haven't been quilting THAT long yet, but I have learned a lot from you as well as several other quilting "vloggers"! Thank you so much for your time and videos!! Great KFC fabric!
Right, Lucille! So simple yet incredibly stunning. It's all about contrast and it really worked well here. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
It really is super fast, Victoria! Love the contrasting color blocks - such an simple design technique. Glad you enjoyed watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Great idea, Sue! Many traditional quilt patterns use small pieces in their blocks That was great when everyone used calico - the very small print fabrics. But the new fabrics are too pretty to cut up so tiny! Have fun putting those favorite fabrics to use! Thanks for watching. Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
When using a walking foot, it's not necessary to lower the feed dogs, Carolyn. The walking foot actually has feed dogs too to move the top fabric along. This way multiple layers move together reducing, if not eliminating uneven edges a the end of a seam. I use mine a lot and it reduces arm and shoulder strain from trying to keep the layers of fabric moving. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
I've just watched your video and subscribed, I'm in awe of how simple but beautiful this quilting style is. Is there a tutorial for how you do the edging? Thank you so much 😘

I have a question about the spray basting. I have used it, but find that i get puckers on the back. I have tried everything and can’t seem to keep that from happening. Any suggestions?
There could be a couple reasons, Kathe. Here are the steps I take when basting. The backing is secured in place with either pins or tape, making sure it's taut. I spray it then center the batting on top, spray again and lay the quilt top in place. Let the quilt top lay loosely when you spray baste it. This way as you are quilting you can use your hands to hold the sandwich taut. As you're doing that you are also putting extra tension on the backing so it's less apt to bunch up as you quilt. Check out my walking foot videos if you haven't seen them. I'll include the playlist link below. ruclips.net/p/PLDqkQjWsSDqlKfvHKjyssSUq71XNt9kbJ Let me know if you're still unsure of what's happening. Thanks so much for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Thanks for those kinds words, Laura! When I go to a quilt shop or quilt show it's all about the fabric. When I see something I like I grab it as I've learned if you wait it's gone. The blue print is a Kaffe Fassett design called Millefiore and it comes in many colors. The white fabric with blue dots is by QT Fabrics but I don't see this exact design on their website. I'm sure most quilt shops would have something comparable. You can probably find these fabrics easily online, too. Have fun shopping! Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Great to have you following along, Chantel! A walking foot is a primary quilting foot for me. I use it to quilt all my quilt sandwiches as it keeps the fabrics moving together smoothly. That means less chance of tucks on the backing. I also use it for bindings as it works great going through multiple fabric layers. Plus it's perfect for rag quilts. You'll see me use one in many of my videos. Here's a playlist of walking foot tutorials that shows how it can be used. Thanks for watching! Hello Louise, I'm watching this video I think it's a great idea using strips to make a quilt top. But you did not say what the final size came out to be? I was wondering if you could give me that information please. Because I'm wanting to make a quilt say for a 5 to 8 year old. Using this method because I think it will be put together quickly. Thank You for the video.
This quilt used seven 6" strips cut from the width of fabric, Marion. It measures apx 38" x 40" making is a perfect size for a baby quilt. It could be fun if you make it a large square and join four of them together for a larger size, too! Sure appreciate you following along! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
Yes, I use #11 Schmetz Quilting Needles and like how they sew. I also keep #14's & 16's on hand for heavier fabrics and rag quilts. You can find the like below the video in the description box. A good, sharp needle makes such a difference in how easily you can sew. Don't continue with a dull needle because it'll make larger holds in your fabric and sometimes pull threads. Little things can make a big difference! Thanks for watching! Happy Quilting, Lea Louise
