Homestuck music is DMCA-proof if you want to listen to it. Lots of bangers. Toby Fox aka Mr. Undertale himself worked on the music for it in ages past. Don't even try to understand Homestuck. That's it's meme: "Let me tell you about Homestuck". It's a really goddamn long webcomic with games, videos, forums, and an insane and hyper dedicated fanbase that has been around since the early internet days. If you delve too deep you won't come out.
> Don't even try to understand Homestuck Seriously. It takes _at least_ two read throughs to fully understand the plot thanks to time travel shenanigans and non-linear storytelling. And honestly, non-linear is putting it lightly.
Yes made by his brother, who lives in the ancient past, who is his son, who is the alternate version of dave, dave whos brother and father is dirk, who made the same comic in the original timeline.
Man, this takes me back to the first time I heard this theme... a flash animation where dirk was viciously beating up his 13 year old brother... good times :)
This is actually my first time listening to this version of Beatdown ever - I kinda fell off of Homestuck hard after the comic ended (even if my youtube avatar hasn't changed since then) so I've not heard any of the video game sequel/spin-off stuff yet. really cool remix! Thanks for helping me re-discover my love for the soundtrack!
To tell you I literally cried when I saw this was an understatement. Please for the love of everything do Jake's Theme and Nepeta's Theme. Also do you consider the original Homestuck a game or not asking for possibly future paid request!
Hey, never too late to give the comic a chance. If you can soldier through the slower early acts it develops into a really good story, especially right in the middle. And the comic's music is like 90% bangers. (Don't read it on the official website, though, there's a much better unofficial offline version of it. The official website has had broken formatting for years and it's gotten even worse now that flash is dead).
@@Venas254 I would link it but youtube tends to be pretty weird with hyperlinks. If you look up Andrew Hussie's linktree, or just "Unofficial Homestuck Collection" you'll be able to find it pretty easily.
Pesterquest is a semi-canonical spinoff game for a Webcomic called Homestuck. Homestuck has flash animations despite being a comic and an original soundtrack to go with them, many of which songs are unused in the comic itself. This song was originally released in volume 10 of Homestuck's soundtrack but was unused and repurposed in Pesterquest. Explaining what Homestucks about would take way too long and goes against the point of the comic as it's a very long story that you're not really supposed to understand going into it. It's well worth reading but can kind of be hard to get into without someone to help guide you. Speaking of which, if anyone wants to read it I can happily explain how to start. Also if you value your sanity stay away from the fandom. It's where all of Homestuck's bad rep comes from.
New here! Going through your channel and WOW I've never seen someone actually reacting firsthand to Homestuck music. I know this video is a little older but I'm hoping that you take a look at more of the music. This is from a game spinoff of the comic Homestuck, so I dont think you'd actually listen to the comic's music which is... genuinely unfortunate because the soundtracks from that are almost all absolute bangers, BUT I hope you pick up more of the music from Pesterquest and Hiveswap Friendsim, which are both essentially 'friendship dating' games based off of the characters (though Pesterquest is significantly more meta in a way that really only makes sense to people who played the game and read Homestuck), both of which are made by the makers of Homestuck! I recommend giving 'Roxy's Theme 2- (Even In Death)' and 'Nepeta's Theme- Requiem', which is a very personal favourite of mine.
My favorite part of the song is the last minute or so, where there's a chorus harmonizing in the background, and it sounds like a church choir. It truly fits his character.
I think I got a comment spam-filtered because I had an URL in it. Rephrasing to avoid that: This is a remix of a song that was originally called "Beatdown". The first couple mixes of that are tracks 20 and 22 on the album "Homestuck Vol. 1-4", which you can find on Bandcamp. That version's not VGM, but you might try it sometime on your own time.
We said that when he did Megalovania, but the Undertale fans didn't really come. There's only a few Undertale songs and no Deltarune on the list. Still holding out hope though!
@@chroipahtz well i can already hear Pumpkin Party in the distance :o), and after dipping into the Toby Fox related content he can probably expand to Toby Fox's musical Inspiration that is all of the Touhou stuff, anything from that Genre on the list yet?
Okay, as someone who has read Homestuck but not played Pesterquest, I am hearing this for the first time, and it's really interesting how it's kind of a slowed down Beatdown (Strider Style). I mean, it makes sense considering Ultimate Dirk is partially Bro, but still, I wasn't expecting this...although with how this uses motifs, I really should have expected this.
Homestuck is not a game but i think you should still give the music a try, Toby Fox(The composer of Undertale, to wich you reacted to Megalovania) also worked on Homestuck's soundtrack before doing Undertale
so to explain about this, though it is spoilers for homestuck's sequel (as well as spoilers for homestuck): Ultimate Dirk used to be just Dirk, one of the many heroes of Homestuck. in the sequel something...HAPPENED and he basically had an epiphany that gave him a connection to every parralel version of himself, giving him their knowledge and memories and perspectives as well as given him incredible power. It also, from what I have heard, drove him insane and gave him the desire to be the 'villain' of the story so the 'story' doesn't have to end or something. so what you're hearing is a song for a domineering manipulator driven mad by his own power to the point where he has an arrogant and self righteous attitude even as he does terrible things. and this song plays as he confronts the player for interferring in his life.
The best part of Homestuck is the music. The worst part of Homestuck is the fandom. Unfortunately, it is hard to engage with the former without potentially attracting the attention of the latter.
The fandom's mostly dead these days, so most of the terrible bits of it are easily avoided. Aa long as you stay away from homestuck's twitter community, you're fine.
Watching this while waiting with baited breath for the Carne Vale reaction 👀Man I had no idea you reacted to this "Filthy" really is the perfect way to describe the synths in this song-- I LOVE when composers do that thing where it sounds like a note is SNARLING, it's like you attached the note to a ripcord and yanked it through a giant pile of meat and then SWUNG it around your head
I think this technically still counts as VGM since Pesterquest is a legit videogame (albeit of the visual novel variety). Though I'd love to see more homestuck related stuff too. The series is full of bangers.
It is technically VGM since Pesterquest is a visual novel. Though that is a _very big_ technicality since the song actually predates the game by about four years. It _also_ predates the character that it's named after, and its original title is Beatup.

The face on his shoulder is a tattoo of a character's face from an intentionally shitty comic in Homestuck named 'sweet bro & hella jeff.'
