Apollo5: Agnus Dei from Mass for Five Voices by William Byrd

A performance of the Agnus Dei from the Mass for Five Voices by the Tudor composer William Byrd (1540-1623), written at the end of the sixteenth century (c. 1594/5) during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Byrd, whose 400th anniversary was commemorated earlier this year (2023), wrote much of his late music - including this setting of the mass - under the cover of secrecy, during his clandestine commitment to Catholicism at the height of the Reformation. The recording is taken from Apollo5's album HAVEN, released on 20 October 2023.
