@laimejannister5627 his body language told us what we knew which why he didn't bother running with the ball because it would be send back anyway and also smart on him so no one hits him low and potentially get hurt.
We practiced a screen play in like 10th grade football all summer. The first time we run it in a game coach called it to the right. But for some reason we had only practiced it left side. I was our right tackle and had little to no idea what I was doing and ended up getting hit by the pass and my friends still make fun of me for it
A buddy of mine had the same reaction too when he was on our high school football team 2010. He got the ball and just looked to the sideline like, "Do I run now?". We caught up and joke about our season that year.
Lions also had a good one today where some tackle who had someone badmouthing him just did the “oooh im so scared” look on Seattle’s sideline for like 10 seconds
I was thinking about when Nick Foles threw to a lineman while getting sacked, then saw an article on Google about this play - about a minute afterwards.
23 on the Jags was like "Yeah! Those guys up front deserve some love!" Legit, you could see some hesitation by some of the Jags players after that pass was caught. 33 kinda just looks and pauses for half a sec. I'm sure they were confused, lmao.
I think the play should stand. It’s basically one of those times when the QB tosses the ball and it just lands in the defenders hands when they weren’t even looking for it. Just this time it was a lineman. The guy was just standing there, and the ball dropped right into his hands. 😂
I think if Smith had batted the ball down on purpose it might have just been a regular loss of down because Kelce wasn't too far off and we all know how NFL officials love to bail out top QBs.
I love how his body just shuts down trying to process what to do next once he's caught it
