I can't understand tha growing hate for Rossi from younger fans. He is a genuine role model. A sports star with no scandals, no drugs. Just a hardworking, determined human being.
Valentino is a Legend, you don‘t have to love him but you have to show him Respekt . If you want to hate him,you have to come there first where he has been allready!!!
No-one will ever come close. The achievements, the persona and the competitiveness 20 years on, it can't be touched. The greats come and go, but one still remains, blessing us with his passion, motivation and speed in his late 30's that most can only dream to have in their early 20's. Always the doctor, forever the greatest of all time.
Every video James? We get the point. Rossi is the greatest, blah blah blah, no one will ever get close to his greatest, etc. How do you know? How does anyone know? Just enjoy it while he is still racing and stop caring about the records and whether he's considered the greatest or not. There was motorcycle racing before Rossi and there will be after, albeit much more popular thanks to him.
+Oliver O'Flaherty don't worry, there's only one more left of this series so you don't have to put up with my comments for much longer... Or you could just choose not to read them? You're right though, it is just my opinion.... But one that is shared by many others. There will be other racers, sure, but will they be as great? I have my doubts. Do I think the likes of Marquez will go on and win 10 titles? I highly doubt it. And even if he does, will he ever win the hearts of the people like Vale has? Will he fuck. There's more to being the greatest than just number of wins and fastest laps. Vale has it all.
James C Marquez has his his own legion of fans that are just as blind and delusional as many of Rossi's fans. As do many if not all of the riders. When Rossi goes, fingers crossed so will the worst of his fanbase, ie - the ones who boo and abuse other riders, and leave or turn off when they realise he isn't going to win. So when the next generation of fans arrive, they'll almost certainly look to Marquez to fill the gap left by Rossi. He'll never be as powerful as Rossi is though, largely because Marquez isn't as ruthless and a bit more honest and humble. Wouldn't be so sure about him not catching Rossi's records however. He's 23 and already past half way if not beaten a lot of them already. Slightly off topic, may I ask what your feelings are toward Lorenzo?
+Oliver O'Flaherty I agree with you with regards to the whole booing thing. It shouldn't be in any sport but unfortunately when you're talking about someone as popular as Valentino, there will always be a minority of fans which let down the others. I personally do think Marquez is ruthless, and I think he learned a lot of that from Rossi. He still looks up to him, despite the infamous hate for him last year. As for Lorenzo, I can't stand the guy. Seriously quick in the dry, when the conditions are 100% and when he's feeling great, but when any of the aforementioned criteria aren't 100%, he's average. Last weekend in Assen is complete proof of that, every rider on the grid went past him - embarrassing. He has the attitude of a spoilt school kid when things don't go his way and I just can't warm to him. Interestingly I warm to Marquez a lot more, but I can't fully accept the actions of Marc last year. He's matured a lot more this year though and it's refreshing to see. How about you?
James C I honestly think Lorenzo is just misunderstood, and I think that if half the people who call him arrogant and spoilt and things like this did half as much research into his character than they do to the likes of Rossi then they would probably realise he isn't all that bad. Many journalists say that off the track he's a really nice guy and not at all the same character. He has reasons for appearing arrogant and it's largely down to how he was raised by his father, who was incredibly hard on him when he was growing up. Yes he makes mistakes and says the wrong things but who doesn't? The way he deals with the booing and the abuse from Rossi fans is brilliant and it really does just make him stronger. He knows he has the respect of the people that matter and that's the people who understand him and what it takes to do what he does. As for his struggles in difficult conditions, it's clearly a confidence issue and many riders suffer from it, he never used to struggle as much as he does now and having raced myself and struggled whenever I saw rain drops on my helmet, it's a mental block where you just can't push anymore no matter how hard you want to. But at least he keeps bringing in the points - that's what wins championships.
Actually, the reason why Valentino Rossi started calling himself "The Doctor" has been explained by Vale in his autobiography. It was back in the days when he was riding the Aprilia 250, and at the time his nick was "Rossifumi". A night, standing and discussing with his friends at their favourite bar (it was such a scaramantic thing), they were talikng about a peculiar habit that have the italian bar-men, that call everybody that came into the bar not by the name, but by his or her title, like "the engineer", or "the lawyer". So, he guessed: "why can't I be a "doctor"? maybe I could be the doctor of motorbike racing!". They liked the idea so much that from 2000 the crew of Valentino started calling him "the Doctor", and since then, he has been the Doctor for everyone.
+Alex jr No, the lauream ad honoris causam in Comunication from the university of Pesaro Urbino came a little bit later, in 2005. Because of that, during the Mugello gp of this year, Rossi's helmet had written "Valentino dottore per davvero!" (Valentino doctor for real!). The two things are separated.
I’ve known the Punk since he was sixteen years old and I’ve never ever missed one single moment of any of his exploits!! Damn I love him like no other, that’s all!!!!
I just want him to beat Agostini's race wins record, win a 10th world title and retire. When The Doctor leaves MotoGP, i go with him. Let the spanish do as they please with the sport after that.
Totally agree. I believe he will for sure beat Agostini's win record, and I pray he will get the 10th title that he deserves. Everyone knows he deserves his 10th, unbelievably unlucky last year, but probably wasn't the fastest, although would have won the title if the infamous actions of Valencia didn't occur. This year, by clear the fastest, but a mistake and an unlucky engine failure in Mugello. One thing you can be sure with Vale is that he will never give up and failure only motivates him further. Who would have thought after the heartbreak of last year he would come back stronger? He has.
+Alex jr I've got my doubts on that. I might be proven wrong and if so fair play to Viñales. He's certainly special, but will he adapt to the Yamaha straight away? Will he make mistakes? He looked real strong at the start of this year and qualifies well but in the race he's not really been anywhere.
+James C trust me I watched his first race win again terol in the 125cc and he out raced him in just his 3/4th race, apart from Suzuki he'd never raced on the same bike in consecutive years and bar his rookie year in Motogp he'd won at least 3 races a season I honestly think he's as talented if not better than Marquez because I'm almost certain if vinales started on a full factory Honda/Yamaha he would also be a rookie champ but only time will tell I guess
Valentino' special about him is his been love by the people & some of them not even know about motor racing in general ... his persona is greater than life so to speak ..
My favorite memory is Valentino Rossi taking M J for a ride on a race track in a BMW he scared him so Bad no confidence in THE DOCTOR IT WAS PRICELESS !!!!!! ROSSI U ARE THE FUCKING MAN !!!! We love you in SEATTLE WA 🏁🏁🏁
Valentino e nosso Airton Senna em duas rodas!! vc é. o maior piloto que ja existiu na motovelocidade!!! parabens! !! E na formula 1 o Senna foi e será sempre o maior piloto da história do automobilismo! !!!
I can't understand tha growing hate for Rossi from younger fans. He is a genuine role model. A sports star with no scandals, no drugs. Just a hardworking, determined human being.
Some people just love to hate on a very happy and genuine person.
its because the young folk are thick as fuck. if you know racing you know rossi is the goat,
One word......JEALOUSY
No hate here all hail The Doctor

Thank you for this comment! Grazie
Abe was rossi's favourite rider
I thought it was because he had some doctor qualification or something similar to that ??
+Alex jr No, the lauream ad honoris causam in Comunication from the university of Pesaro Urbino came a little bit later, in 2005. Because of that, during the Mugello gp of this year, Rossi's helmet had written "Valentino dottore per davvero!" (Valentino doctor for real!). The two things are separated.
+Stefano Sabbioni ohhhh ok I didn't know that
Guys, this series is great. Looking forward to Episode 5!
Simply the best rider that has lived ♥️ from Ireland 🇮🇪 and Uk 🇬🇧

Amen brother
Well said but I have to say I've got a feeling vinales is gonna win titles when he's Rossi's apprentice next year cos he's special
+Alex jr I've got my doubts on that. I might be proven wrong and if so fair play to Viñales. He's certainly special, but will he adapt to the Yamaha straight away? Will he make mistakes?
