Yamaha riders, especially Quatararo, have requested more horsepower for years. But Yamaha was afraid it would affect the balance of the chassis and screw up the handling. But with Ducati, Aprilia and KTM now faster they finally gave in and added power. And guess what ? It messed up the handling, particularly rear grip. So now they're trying to figure that out. You can't just change one thing on a GP bike without affecting everything else.
A lot of water in the beginning, video from a videogame and technical gibberish. V4 doesn't need any more cylinders and crankshafts than I4. However, it does need an extra cylinder head and a pair of CAMshafts
6:57 The V4 needs additional cylinders? 🤣. The whole video appeared to be amateurish already when the bikes were featured mainly through the GP video game.
I stopped watching after less than 4 minutes, it was clear you are unnecessarily wasting my time. You mentioned legendary riders, but did not say Rossi. And showing footage from a video game really reduces your credibility.
Yamaha has been building v-4 engines since the mid 80's both 2 stroke and 4 stroke so its not like they have no experience in the engine configuration.
Im surprised you haven't talked about yamaha already having a unique inline 4 design with it's cross plane engine compared to every other manufacturers using flat plane
Just to add a little more controversy and bickering back and forth. Yes Suzuki did run a crossplane inline 4 in MotoGp but never offered it to the public and selling on its showroom floors a normal flatplane crank inline 4 in the GSXR 1000 in which pretty much hasn't changed much since the liter band got lifted in 2000 when manufacturers were once again allowed to sell liter bikes to the masses legally were as in 2009 YAMAHA offered up the first mass produced crossplane crank inline 4 cylinder engine with that distinctive symphony that mixes that V4 roar with a sprinkle of traditional flatplane inline 4 scream more so leaning towards roar for that truly iconic and unrivaled sound that comes from the exhaust of a R1 because you can always tell when an R1 pulls up, rides by or races past you verses that of a V4 is it Ducati, KTM or Aprilla? Or inline 4 flatplanes, is that a Suzuki, Kawasaki or a Honda but for sure you will always know when an R1 with a crossplane rolls up
Interesting, if a little simplistic in places (as I find this video some time after its first release). This is a topic which gets discussed with a lack of factual information, with factories understandably 'keeping secrets', and most of us having only a minimal understanding of the dynamics of different engine layouts. We are never told whether these GP engines have one, two (or no) balance shafts, and this is an important aspect in the comparisons between V4s and in-lines. Also the unmentioned aspect of the 70 degree offset between the 'two side-by-side V-twins' of the Ducati V4 (and now Aprilia?) engine configurations. And by the way - the crankshaft shown in the Yamaha picture around 9.28 is actually a conventional four cylinder crank - not a 'crossplane'.
What a BS clickbait title! How can Yamaha abandon a layout they never used? There's no way they can switch to a V4 now, I suspect Fabio will move to another manufacturer and Yamaha will leave MotoGP.
90% of the video is BS. Yamaha stopped being competitive for a long while. Ducati is not concerned about yamaha at all . KTM and Aprilia are way better bikes right now. I do have a 2021 R1M and a S1Krr M but it is what it is.
Let's be honest here, Yamaha were racing V4 2 strokes, Yamaha has been lazy from the beginning. They were ok till riders were 80% and motorcycle was 20% of the equation (golden words by Jeremy Burgess). Valentino switched from a V5 to inline 4 and won races and championships. KTM started with V4 and caught up pretty quickly, so it can be done.
2023 is KTM 7th season in the Motogp class. It's took them over 6 year's to get to where they are now...... Which is best of the rest still a good bit behind Ducati! It will take Yamaha many year's to build a competitive V4 engine Motogp bike.

Lin Jarvis said months ago there will be no v four. The cost of developing such an engine from scratch would be way too expensive and take at least five years to be competitive.
I have followed thia sport from the start of motogp Era early 2000s. This question of why Yamaha opted inline 4 against V5 of Honda. The reason during that time was Toyota has made significant influence on this decision as it is significant stakeholder in the Yamaha. Toyota used to develop V engine format in F1 and they want Yamaha to stick to Inline format and develop it. Even now Toyota is big stakeholder in Yamaha. They will have a say on all this before Yamaha can spend millions on V4 tech.

The last three MotoGP winning Machines 2022 Ducati (V4) | 2021 Yamaha (Inline 4) | 2020 Suzuki (Inline 4). Yamaha should let Quartararo go, and get Rins or Mir… 🤔
I like yamaha because they are not afraid to suffer the "penalty for taking the lead".. Which means that they will not only develop new technology, but produce it and sell it - which allows it's competitors (Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki particularly) to improve on it's ideas on their production machines. Just look at the world of motocross - Yamaha gave us liquid cooling - but put the radiator in the worst possible location.. honda solved that issue by moving it where it resides now on all MX bikes! Yamaha gave us monocross (single shock rear suspension) but located a too large and heavy shock in the worst place. Again, Honda gave us the pro-link - improving on the idea. I have to give yamaha credit - they are bold...
But it’s not just changing the engine layout. It’ll need a new chassis too. Yamaha have never done a V4. When Honda and Ducati have had a V configuration for years. Also it’s worth noting that Suzuki did very well with an in line 4 so I think Yamaha’s problems are more than just the engine layout.
Sort of funny how a HUGE thing is made out of microscopic differences in performance from one platform to the next. It seems like it by far has more to do with the people running things than whether it is a V4 or inline 4. On a given day an inline 4 kicks ass just not consistantly ....get the right people and budget and rider combo and that could change overnight btw that V4 configuration aint helping Honda much AT ALL.....is it? there is no yamaha no more....yamaha is a joke nowdays...they wasted FQ20 talent just like that...since 2016 they know standard ECU give a big impact but still lead by old punk stubborn Jarvis...pfttt
Not very accurate. "Always" is way off base. Yamaha went many years more than once being 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th in the championship. The advantages of a V4 was obvious over 10 years ago.
You start with the inline has more power and end with the V 4 has more power. You have no idea what the truth is and no nothing about what they're doing!
Yamaha alreàdy have a V4 on the bench don't worry about that ! The problem is they had a great châssis until now , the big problem is putting à New engine in à New frame would take two years to develope , they left it à bit late and the other factorys are winning every week-end.
Like wsbk gave advantage of more cc horses to v.2 Ducati , inline for can have the same problem solving easily with less cost and stay in the game not to follow Suzuki. But honda has the v power and advanced gearbox but not the aerodynamic of the stable Ducati unmatched advance on all other teams
A lot of talking but no information. What is this regulation? How exactly does it affect moto gp? What are the manufacturers doing about it? Quit repeating yourself and say something worth my time.
Ppl are turning into pussy’s that why you have a hard time finding ppl to ride a hot bike. But their will always be a few of us willing and able to harness it and willing to give everything to win.
Poorly researched &/or written clickbait. Ducati are renowned to be faster down the straight, And Yamaha & Ducati (eg) don't have more or less cylinders. The clue is elsewhere in the dialogue, V4 cf in-line 4 - couldn't be a more glaring error. I gave up on this and should have done so much earlier.
Maybe rules will insist that all motogp bikes be same conguration? I would suffest inline THREE cylinder as best of both worlds and no one would have any advantage all starting from blank slate ....still narow like a Vee yet good torque and cheaper eaiser to make and maintain....even if slightly slower who cares! If they all use same thing?

there is no yamaha no more....yamaha is a joke nowdays...they wasted FQ20 talent just like that...since 2016 they know standard ECU give a big impact but still lead by old punk stubborn Jarvis...pfttt
"Additional cylinders" ??? What? Both motors have the same amount of cylinders dude. I believe you mean cams
He said additional cylinders and crank shafts I think he meant additional head's and cams😂
This is ancient news......
But if Yamaha switch to v4
The Bike will no longer be
An M 1
I am ready
Like wsbk gave advantage of more cc horses to v.2 Ducati , inline for can have the same problem solving easily with less cost and stay in the game not to follow Suzuki. But honda has the v power and advanced gearbox but not the aerodynamic of the stable Ducati unmatched advance on all other teams
A lot of talking but no information. What is this regulation? How exactly does it affect moto gp? What are the manufacturers doing about it? Quit repeating yourself and say something worth my time.
This is just click bait bull shit
Lame.
Ppl are turning into pussy’s that why you have a hard time finding ppl to ride a hot bike. But their will always be a few of us willing and able to harness it and willing to give everything to win.
Got fed up with listening to this guy rattling on before he got to the point !
Yes that is to know Peace out
Poorly researched &/or written clickbait.
Yamaha should develop a narrow angle v4 engine!
Click bait. Save your time.
Sorry Yamaha but you have catch up with modern era and future of motorcycle racing a V4 its the only way 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Is this a paid announcement? 😂😂
I don't like the fake graphics at all, make it real
To use motogp footage they’d have to pay for it. This channel is about making money, not spending it.
I won't believe that you stole 11 minutes out of my life to end with a nothingburger.
vr4 engine
First,I think you should go straight to the point about telling the news of the engine and don't just going around to take time wasting
Everyone knows RUclipsrs ask for subscribe all the time
Just go straight
I've been with Yamaha motorcycles for a long time.
R1
So if Yamaha is going V4 then it's not an M1
o Too many Yamaha's !
ugh, propaganda and old news.
More click bait!!
What an amateurish video, full of errors and dopey video game
BLA BLA BLA
Here’s an idea: make a video titled “The greatest quarterback that nobody has ever heard of” and then sit back and watch your Artificial Intelligence program spit out a lame video about Tom Brady using only video game footage.
🥱😴😴😴
you guys should sell Shamwow and not make moto vids jeez masters of the string along good bye
11 minutes of drivel....
This video is a waste of time

in-line fours Rule
But hey it's scary that the most winning Engine is the in line 4 Yamaha R1 / YZR-M1.. We don't know how this happened.. Yes we do it's the overall package it's Geometry Stability Handling Turn on a dime Engine dated barley changed in 10 years 2021 world champion Moto GP and was going back to back champion again in 2022 until the Ⓜ️🤡 who helps take every one on track out.. Quartararo knows who we're talking about they all know.. Champ Bagnaia has to put up with it now unfortunately..
American SBK champion
British SBK champion
World SBK champion. It's still winning every where 24 hour rece ect. We all know it's V4 or nothing .. Economics killing parts of sport winning on dirt world wide Yamaha Japanese manufacturers have always ruled like it or hate it ..
It's Fact .. Ducati is dominating now but they took a very very long time catching up ..Italian money pit.. Involved in a very small circle of racing in comparison to Japanese manufacturers..
V4 Yamaha will return 🏁
this video says nothing iys like a loop playing a dealer dont bother
Here we go again I've already seen this bull shit videos Headlines that Lie boring..
Jap, just do it, or u want to wait another 40years,bro benzima already sign with arab.....
This video is equivalent to finding out that Taylor Swift is getting railed by a football player and then immediately declaring yourself an expert on the NFL. Artificial Intelligence thinks that Nazis were black and it doesn’t even know who the greatest MotoGP (nevermind Yamaha) champion was. You’re so ignorant about MotoGP that you’re incapable of correcting the most obvious omission from your AI produced video. Commissioning some illiterate computer chips to produce a video for a specific fan base is a recipe for failure, as I will now demonstrate by disliking every single one of your videos.
