    Great video! Side note. You forgot to mention David Robinson and Sean Elliott!! They helped set the foundation of the dynasty, too. Won NBA titles for the Spurs in the late '90s and early '00s. Their first NBA title for the Spurs ever! Along with younger Manu, Duncan, and Parker.

      Robinson was the first piece. In fact, it was the injury to Robinson and their first decision to tank while Robinson was injured, that got them Duncan. Robinson is one of the best NBA centers of all time- forgetting him is completely ridiculous. Remember the year where he had 73 points in his final game of the season to eclipse Shaq for the scoring title?
      The very beginning of the Spurs dynasty was Duncan and Robinson . Especially right after they drafted Duncan- Duncan hung out with Robinson all summer, while Robinson taught him stuff about the NBA, and they learned martial arts together! It was cool.
      Also, how do you do a piece on the spurs, And somehow, Kawhi Leonard’s name is also not mentioned at all?

    • @sleepyheadz
      @sleepyheadz 10 месяцев назад +2

      You were correct in pointing out Robinson, Elliot and Johnson's contribution.
      What you didn't mention is the 10 years that Pop wasted from Robinson's HoF career. They tanked to get Timmy, and that set the blueprint of success.
      That blueprint also meant drafting Europeans as key supporting casts. Pop just hates how the AAU is not developing players properly. European players are fundamentally sound and are natural team players, unlike US born tiktokkers.
      If they somehow lucked into getting the #1 pick again, it might not even be a surprise if they traded up with their Raptor's pick to also get both Sarr and Risacher, from the French league.
      Decent PGs are a dime a dozen, but getting solid wings like Risacher to pair with Wemby and Sarr would make the Spurs overmatched at every key position.
      With the new big 3 on rookie contracts, it won't be hard to sign great value players like Malcom Brogdon who would be excellent in controlling the pace that Pop likes to play with.
      Wemby has shown that he can be bullied physically, so replacing Collins with another big heavy center would spare Wemby from taking tough hits.
      So it all depends on the draft sequence this coming summer. Who knows, the Raptors might play punk and drop into the bottom 6 and take back their pick.
      Whatever happens, the Spurs definitely have the assets and caps space to complete their rebuild within the next two years.

      @@KierenCates the thing with having reischer and sarr is chemistry. Every team has their own championship formula but all has to be in good chemistry and a fellow french with close age will have a good impact. After Zaccharie Risacher (who will probably be taken before Spurs pick), the best fit for their two picks could be Nikola Topic (1st pick) and Reed Sheppard (assuming 2nd pick via Toronto). Sheppard is small but a solid defender and lights-out from 3pt and would be a great option against smaller opponents (like Trae or Steph). And he's likely to fall far enough in the draft that he's available. Spurs are going to need 3pt shooters to keep interior space open for the likes of Wemby and Topic (a downhill paint scorer), but who aren't a liability on D -- after Risacher, Reed Sheppard is the next best option, plus he's got the kind of 'character' Pop likes. Thoughts?

    • @Deemo257

      Spurs can win the top Pick. They have the worst record in the west, plus with raptors essentially 🔒 into 12th spot, they could very well end up with the 7th or 8th pick. Which would go to The Spurs from the poetil trade. I see them having two top 10 picks and very likely a top 3 of their own.

    Spurs have interior defense with Wemby and perimeter defense with Sochan; now they need to surround Wemby and Sochan with shooting; so ill go with both Risacher (a 6'9 wing and is hitting 40+% from 3 plus a capable defender) and with Sheppard with Toronto's pick (a point/combo guard that is hitting over 45% from 3 and also a capable defender). with their 33rd pick go with the best available wing (maybe Dadiet or Evans) and with their 44th pick go with a defensive minded center (spurs struggling defensively when wemby sits) or trade the pick for more future assets.
