I love 9x tech. Enough to make it crazy, but not so crazy that 1 strat hard counters everything else like it does in 256x.
x9 tech is nothing compared to x9 civ bonuses mod. Just enjoy free instant spawning Goth infantry, 50 statring Chinese vills or 9 dead wolves per Magyar hit.
It's mental, really. I remember how enemy Celtic spearman succesfully escaped my Frankish scout because he couldn't beat him.

Depends. Now that Romans exist... +18/18 infantry armor in Feudal Age is quite a lot. You can literally rush in Feudal Age and move speed would be the only issue. May still have troubles against, ironically, vills who can get up to +9/18 and 160 health and at a much cheaper cost (450 gold).
The Inca vills start gain infantry blacksmith upgrades effect in Castle Age. Stacking that with loom, they may become much stronger. Less melee armor than the Roman infantry in the early game, but 160 health is no joke either.
9x loom. That's like putting on 9 sweaters, can't pierce that.

i reckon best civs would be ones with OP unique units like mongs and mayans and also maybe incas for cheesy vills.
@David Canavan Spanish supremacy... In Imperial Age. Meanwhile, the Incas are upgrading their workers and their whole infantry since feudal, just to put an example. Meh, Supremacy is awesome but useless, like Torsion Engines.
@David Canavan Yeah. The true role of Supremacy is to flood the salt market to keep down the prices.
Inca villagers would just be insanity. Even just the 9x looms is enough to make the villagers harder to kill than the town centers they usually rely on for protection, add in 9x blacksmith upgrades and they would be almost invulnerable. Usually losing TCs is so bad because you also lose villagers, or at least have to relocate them, here the villagers barely took any losses and often didn't bother leaving the archers sightline, and Inca villagers wouldn't even take the handful of losses that these ones did.
@@faroncobb6040 maybe something like a 3x tech or 4x tech would be a different enough gameplay style without making certain strats OP
@@faroncobb6040 not sure if it got fixed, but when I tested previously only the first blacksmith upgrade of each type got applied (as if the upgrade itself didn't apply, just a check if the given upgrade had been researched)
Ask capture age to give a view that shows players fog of war in different shades while still showing the entire map. Just very colored light shades could work really well methinks. Different shade for each player in 1v1 as well as different color/transparency for what they both see.
I'll take a wild guess at the 8th minute and say that the eco first is going to be better because the growth is exponential on the upgrades, whereas the military bonuses are linear

Well, when Tatoh's knights are hopped up on that many bloodlines having bracer a few times isn't really gonna make the difference. He had more than 3x the total HP pool...
I just kept hearing rats and archers so I was imagining crossbowmen launching rats towards tatoh.

This was awesome, would love to see more of this for sure. 256x is fun for the ridiculousness, but 9x and 3x are entertaining without getting just silly. Watching the experts play and their strats is awesome. Moar, plz

I think Teutons are one of the best civs for this. If they can boom, then Teutonic Knights with 8-9x Squires would be incredible
Spanish would also be incredible, considering they would save so much gold on Blacksmith Upgrades
Daut totally threw the game. When he thought he was winning he just completely didn't even mind his economy. Despite having food he stopped making vils for several minutes. He clearly was not applying himself.

All techs arn't enabled, you won't get a unit if your civ is lacking that unit, but if your civ is lacking an upgrade you will be able to research it 8 times instead of 9.

I mean, in what other game can a player suddenly lose 50% of his villagers, with the explanation "I accidentally deleted one of my villagers"?
That was the highlight of that game for me, from a humourish standpoint. It was purple, I think and he had a strong position at that point.
And I LOVED the guerilla attacks with villagers. And the idea to use siege towers! And SO much more!
It was like an entirely different game and so dynamic!

How do teutons get husbandry??
In the 9x mod, if a civ is missing a tech they get that tech 8x times instead of 9x

How does this mod work with civs that get free upgrades? Do vikings get one free wheelbarrow, or nine?
Daut should have went Cav archer so he could of researched husbandry along with his archer upgrades

in a 9x tech game, you go for eco + range. You have to keep looming and fletching and wheelbarrowing all the time, if you neglect any of these and your opponent doesn't, he can exploit that weakness. As a Teuton you really should also keep fortifying your castles all the time so that they can take a little beating while you go for that +45 range for them. The most powerful civ would still probably be Mongols, thanks to mangudai that can be upgraded with both speed and HP in addition to range and attack and armor. Mangudai is a damned beast. Also your castles are significantly better when you keep fletching throughout feudal. The Rattan archer is garbage precisely because it lacks the speed and HP upgrades.
Bit of a shame that after 25 range they dont auto target anymore.
How are my chances to play the next noob match?
I want to see aztec monks with 9x techs, the amount of hp those monks could get would be bonkers
Gummiel I've done monks on 256 tech and the hp goes up so fast even if you aren't Aztec because the upgrade is "+50%" instead of "+15" which means it scales up real fast.
By my math you should get up to 1153 hp even without Aztec bonus
at that point you are better off making monks yourself and researching heresy
It is probably too late at that point to do anything :P even making your own monks, the aztec gonna be having your wastly outnumbered, and his monks already having all those upgrades gonna be both fast and really long range too from the normal effects of those upgrades that many times :P

It would be a much different game if you could only research your civs upgrades 9x. Slow knights would change the game.
