I'm kind of a newer subscriber and really enjoy your content and I hope this channel grows. There's not enough youtubers covering punk. So I really appreciate what you do here.
I'm VERY excited for Tim and Jesse working together again. Super stoked, this guy is The Punk Rock Hater. Hates everything for the click. Tim and Jesse together is HUGE
They changed the name because there is a band called bad optics from Seattle already that has been around the punk scene for a little bit, and they are making waves a little, and they politely asked Tim and Jesse to change the name so that they could keep their band name that they've been working on for a few years.
I like bad optics better as a band name. I’m stoked for this project. It opens the door for one off op ivy shows in the future. I’m glad they buried the hatchet and are making art together again
Umm forever in our veins forever?!!!? Dude whatch yerself brother I'm the huuuuuugest nerd out mall rat OpIvy and rancid nut there is I know of ❤❤❤ let's go or 2000 in my.ass opinion BAD OPTIX
They changed their name to DOOM REGULATOR as ‘Bad Optics’ made them aware they were upset. They changed it promptly out of respect it seems. I preferred BAD OPTIX, but we need a bit of doom regulation during these tough and rough days!
Hello… 46 year old guy here. I was a young buck even after Operation Ivy was a thing. They’re in their 50’s now… the world has changed (for the worse) in the last 30 years…and honestly… nothing really matters anymore. End stage capitalism dreams. Peace.
I hate to say it, but Doom Regulator is a terrible name compared to Bad OPtix. It seems like self-sabotage. Lol, is there a new Rancid album coming out?
Tim Armstrong didn't want to be in a little "humble, punk rock/ska band" he wanted to sell out! Like Green Day. Therefore, FOREVER ruining Op. Ivy!!! (OH WHAT COULD'VE BEEN!!!!) 🥺🥺😩😩😫😫
I feel like I'm too old for emo-gi's but I do like pancakes. And waffles too. They remind me of the song The Brews by NOFX. But I don't really like NOFX. I do like your channel though. That's the whole reason I'm writing this comment. :))
Ok, wasnt a fan of this channel, then heard Dan Framton's opinion of Rancid (2000). The most underrated Rancid album. One of my favs as well. I guess I have to subscribe now.
If you weren't a punk back in the day , you probably wouldn't know but operation ivy broke up they started a band called Downfall and recorded one record then after that band they started Rancid....
Man, hope they come to Gilman. I remember when Lint used to sell tye dye on Telegraph. Saw Op Ivy many times around the bay area. I always used to wear my two tone ska shirt with my MA1 jacket and docs… Lint even complimented me on my shirt once, sweet! Hope they play at Gilman.
Doom regulator sounds waaaay better than Bad optix. I thought bad optix was a terrible band name from the jump. Plus I really dig the traditional ska sound they're going for instead of ska-punk. Fits them better.
i loved the new song. rancid is my favorite band but the only album of theirs i didnt like is the 2000 self titled. i think you just dont enjoy reggae. tims reggae album "a poets life" is one of my favorite albums. and i'm not sure where you were, but there was a ton of buzz when this new song came out. it filled all my social media feeds.
@@wantutosigh1117 yeah i hear that from a lot of people. that was more of a hardcore record imo, and i like hardcore but i dont love it. i like rancid best when they have their ska/reggae influence combined with their 77' sound. and i'm a sucker for a good chorus
There was a band called Downfall between OPIV and Rancid. Similar to OPIV. There's some stuff on the RUclips. Really good actually. Not sure if Matt was involved or not. Sounds like it to my ears tho.
Ok for one.....its not nor was intended to be an Operation Ivy reunion...its a whole new project. 2 you're literally the only person hating on it. Shit sounds dope...i guess you're sad that its something original amd not some recycled watered down attempt at recreating Op Ivy....so you basically invalidated your whole argument when you started by saying "this is not the op ivy reunion we wanted"....tool.
Do u get this mean when u disagree on best pizza toppings too? You're a vile, disgusting waste of human trash, you know that? You wanna get mean and petty, I can get mean and petty. You literally have no idea who you're dealing with here. Stfu, gtfo and never show your sad, pathetic face around here ever again, Brian. You have the media literacy of a 6 month old baby and a temperament to match. BRIAN
Tim and Matt didn’t form Rancid for a while after Op Ivy broke up. Op Ivy was getting too big so they broke up. Tim started drinking heavily and doing drugs and going nowhere. So Matt called him up to start a band to try to help his friend get his life together. That’s when Rancid formed. Pretty sure there’s videos of Matt and Tim talking about this.
@dougsangalang 1 second ago This song is Rad! hate to be disagreeable but Dont be swayed by this this video review! Decide for yourselves. IMO Dope production thought provoking lyrics , time bomb Tim does it again with this supernatural guitar hook and with the mastery of an architect building a bridge . 2 legendary pioneers of the 2nd wave , respect for 1st wave Jamaican Rocksteady kings. Perhaps your expectation was the thief of happiness with regard to your review . Perhaps listen again and beware to first Free your mind. There’s Black magic in this music if it grabs you there’s nothing to fear it just means you have IT.
Raid is a good song and calls back to thr opivy track "Take Warning" with horns added. Like bad optix vs doom regulator but like some have said it is the name of another band.
Well we only heard one song. Hopefully there's more songs more in a hardcore/punk direction. The new Classics of Love is straight on hardcore so maybe there's more songs like that style. With a name like Doom Regulator I'm sure there will be.
hey howzagoin'?

Bad. It burns when I piss
you're timeline is completely off they recorded "Living in a Dangerous Land" in 2013
I'm VERY excited for Tim and Jesse working together again. Super stoked, this guy is The Punk Rock Hater. Hates everything for the click.
Tim and Jesse together is HUGE
Very true. Kind of a whiney tool at times.
Yeah, but the first single does kinda suck
STOPPPPP!!!! Their days are OVER!!!
They changed the name because there is a band called bad optics from Seattle already that has been around the punk scene for a little bit, and they are making waves a little, and they politely asked Tim and Jesse to change the name so that they could keep their band name that they've been working on for a few years.
Lame ass name!
I’m just happy my dads are back together again
Hot take but Rancid's first demos before Lars is some of the finest punk I've ever heard.
I like bad optics better as a band name. I’m stoked for this project. It opens the door for one off op ivy shows in the future. I’m glad they buried the hatchet and are making art together again

BAD OPTIX
Im sure he came up with the name "bad optics" after his doctor prescribed glasses with the wrong strength. That must be it.
They changed their name to DOOM REGULATOR as ‘Bad Optics’ made them aware they were upset. They changed it promptly out of respect it seems. I preferred BAD OPTIX, but we need a bit of doom regulation during these tough and rough days!

100 they should have kept Bad Optix, I keep expecting Doom Regulator to be Tim's stab at doom metal (which I wouldn't mind, tbh)

What are your thoughts about "Living In a Dangerous Land" by Tim and Jesse on the Ska Against Racism album?

2000 is one of the best, if not, the best.

Doom regulator? Sounds more like a band on tour with sunn or something.

They should've called themselves Bad Sequel such a missed opportunity
Wow, a few big events blended with some extra fictional drama and in the wrong order.
This guy has the same level of observation and sarcasm as myself....I love and hate him for it.... ❤😂
I think Raid is a badass song. Can't wait for the rest of the album.
I think there's a new Rancid Album out next week
before rancid tim and matt had a few non-succesful projects like downfall etc
it's not a seamless switch from op ivy to rancid

You crack me up kid, keep on keeping on!
I love Doom Regulator
an unbeleivable amount of misinformation in this video
Very into this song. So glad to hear them together again. It hits the right spot for me, hope there's much more to come.
Why not embrace cringe to grow the channel, seems to be where it started...
I love how many ppl did actually spam the pancakes!!!!!
Let's see how long we can keep it going!
They’re missing Matt Freeman. He’s one of my favorite bass players

What a tale 😍
Man I'm pumped for this. Tim has so many good side bands/projects
You should do some videos about Osker, and what happend to their singer.
What you do here is entertaining, you here that algorithm?
Love the op ivy history

I’m not gonna lie I listen to more reggae these days than punk and the bad optics song is pretty bad😂
It's good af but the vocals don't match at all

not a disappoint

I don't even care what you have to say. Titling anything disappointing about Doom Regulator (Bad Optix) has to be whining bullshit.
Ya ok bud

Raid is great.
You wanna do creator clash, call out Sam hyde
call me
Raid is great. Stfu. They changed it bc of another band.
Calm down
There was a band called Downfall between OPIV and Rancid. Similar to OPIV. There's some stuff on the RUclips. Really good actually. Not sure if Matt was involved or not. Sounds like it to my ears tho.
matt was in downfall. then they formed dance hall crashers and promptly quit to form rancid
The Downfall Leaks are legit worth listening to. Perhaps moreso than operation ivy. Very disappointing we don't have an official release or remaster.
@@stevedevotion7311 thanx for that. I always forget they were in DHC for a minute.
@@AB1138- i agree, they're great songs. A studio album woulda been amazing. I would even take a well done single or 2.
@@briantomcollins they had recorded a small albums worth of songs. Some higher quality rips of a few of them are floating around all the muck.

Downfall was Tim & Matt's first band after opiv. Unless you count DHC
Dear God! Is there even a god?? Two fifty-something men are not the same as they were in their teens?!!
I thought they changed it because a super small band with the same name made a bunch of noise about it.
Dude all you do is trash Rancid and OpIvy in your titles to get clicks. NOT PUNK. Just greedy.
Hahaha it sure did! It took over
4:50 yeah bad optix is a much better band name.

The song was more or less a 60s rock steady styles song with vocals over it
Methinks I shall comment because you asked so nicely. I liked the song, it didn’t blow me away or anything but I’m looking forwards to more.
Frampton is trolling us all making it sound like he actually likes Rancid.
Wait..
Im not supposed to "watch another upload"?!
Im confused here.

man you're a big disappointment
Funny hearing someone who wasnt even born tell a story they read on the internet
It's literally a brand new song. I'm also 40. Eat my sh1t

I liked the song Raid tbh
they changed the name. LOL
