- A Classic Fixx Tune from 1983. It was the groups debut hit from their 1982 CD SHUTTERED ROOM.The FIXX were a Five man band that originated from England UK ,they went on to have quite a successful career ,and put together a string of Hits such as Secret Separation,Saved by Zero,Red Sky's At Night and their biggest hit TOP 5 Smash One Thing Leads To Another. They still perform World Wide Tours with the Original Line-up.Cy Curnin on lead still can sing.
If you are playing this in 2024 ''YOU ROCK '' THE 80'S The Best , would 'nt trade it !
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG BY THEM. IT'S AWESOME!!!
agreed brother
I want to go back and rock the 80's again 🎸🥁😎
THAT WOULD BE A DREAM! I WISH THERE WERE SOME GREAT OUTDOOR 80'S BANDS GETTING TOGETHER BUT IT''S NEVER CLOSE TO HOME.@@jeffreyhusack2400
I was a freshman in college when this was released. Saw them live at my school in 1984!
Two chords and the song is instantly recognized by anyone who lived during that time.
as a kid of the 80s i am proud of my music.
💯
It was and still is the best ❤️
Best decade for Music!!!
@@bryanjackson405oh yes m8
We had it good didn't we!? ❤
40 years later, this song could not be more relevant today.
It's about the cold War. Now because of the US and anti democracy idiots here we are again. Now China has entered the ring. This is a disgrace to our families that fought for freedom.
Goosebumps still when this comes on after all these years
I got goosebumps at the part that starts at 2:07 and that's when I came across your comment. 🙂
My thoughts exactly.
@@V8AmericanMuscleCar I must agree.
I completely agree
Yup .
We kids whom grew up in the late 70's and 80's are lucky. What an age we lived in.
Rock on Kids!
Nobody sounds like the fix l miss this band MTV days 80.s
Red lites at nite😮
This only peaked at #76 on the Billboard charts in Nov. 1982. If I remember correctly, it was played a lot on MTV.
Sorry had play another time
You are correct. I remember the horse falling and the haunting song.
Yup it was indeed played on MTV, that's where I remember the song from.
Would explain why I never heard it when it came out
I heard this going home last night and I just had to find the video. The 80's were the best.
1983!!! Year I graduated high school. Forever '80's!!!!
1986 for me. .It was all about music back then and it was great music. We walked the neighborhoods with our boom boxes rocking out with no complaints ever!
1986 for me.... still remember this well !
@@melissanative1799 1983!!! Year I skipped school in the 9th grade to go see Iron Maiden in Dallas, Texas. Forever '80's!!!!

The Fixx they are so fine and we all love their music 🎶 🎵 in 2024 enjoy greetings from California hello to all their fans
This song gives me a type of feels that I can’t put my finger on.

A strong 2 chord haunting melancholy. First thing I saw when I got cable in 82.
Hypnotizing and eerie for sure.
The Faulkland War
When i heard this song on the radio in '83 i fell in love with The Fixx, and still love them now 40years later💥💜💯
Nice
👍 wording time frame 😮😊
All these years I never knew how deep this song really is. Very relevant today.
Unfortunately so true!
We knew somehow
The intro has been hypnotizing me since 1983.
Myself as well. I was 19 in 82'. A Canadian kid with sooo many UK relatives over here and over there. At the klubs as a 19 year old then, this song as well as "its my life" were the only songs that made me sit, sit only, and think and ponder, forget about me vs girls and 3 a.m. for that night.
lennomenno me too. amazing.
I agree. The start is particularly amazing.
It is hypnotizing I think for me it’s the way the guitar and bass come in especially the bass
@@finaljesus The bass on this song is thumping!
I had a good friend who passed away too early, this was her favourite song, 35 years later, I still tear up when I hear this.
This song describes today's time more than it did the eighties!
Crying parents tell their children
If you survive, don't do as we did
A son exclaims there'll be nothing to do to
Her daughter says she'll be dead with you
While foreign affairs are screwing us rotten
Line morale has hit rock bottom
Dying embers stand forgotten
Talks of peace were being trodden
Stand or fall
State your peace tonight
Stand or fall
State your peace tonight
Is this the value of our existence
Should we proclaim with such persistence
Our destiny relies on conscience
Red or blue, what's the difference

Yes, so true we all need to wake up and reach out and love one another.
We need the return of preppy boys sulking in their parents' mansion to save the day once again.
@@professorsasha9100 Has it occurred to you that those preppy boys, as you call them, are the ones calling the shots in most Western countries today? What would you prefer? Communism? Globalism? Or do you just like trying to look like someone who knows all the answers, but won't tell... instead, just handing sh*t on bands that created iconic music?
This was Before MTV went stupid !!!
What anniversary?
Like Weird All "Dare to be stupid"?
I think MTV were already stupid by this time and I think they messed up the beauty of the Fixx's songs with insipid videos. Their songs (the Fixx's songs) were strong enough on their own without dumb videos to accompany them.
@@bandfromtheband9445 troll!
yea,and the good music was easily found on any decent radio station, and there was no fear of someone not liking the song and having it taken off the airwaves

70's was pretty damn good too.
70s, it started it's slide in the 80s this song is a perfect example.

Great music from the 80s. We watched this video on MTV. Years ago
I saw The Fixx last night at the Newton theater in NJ and they still sound great and are entertaining! Cy still spreading his peaceful messages of love and hope. 🕊🏳 Still relevant in these times.

This song takes me back to the Fall of '82 I was 18 and driving to my girlfriend's (at that time) house and they were playing this on the radio on 93.3 WMMR. I lived in Marlton,NJ and she was from Voorhees,NJ which is a neighboring township. Every time i hear this, I'm back in my '78 Ford Fairmont Futura driving down the road to meet her. That's the Power of Music!!
Skinzz listened to that station while I was in Ft. Dix in 83-84
I went to Burlington County College in Pemberton from 82' to 83' and that was right around the corner. My oldest brother was stationed at Dix around the same time you were there. Where were you from originally?

Amen! I fell in love with this song the first time i heard it IN 1982 when it was fresh ... i was 10 years old in 1982! The whole "Shuttered Room" 1982 album kicks ass and everyone should hear it once
A song that makes me feel both excited and melancholy at the same time. Excited because it instantly takes me back to late ‘82 - early ‘83, which was an insanely great time for pop music. Melancholy, because it was never this good again.
82 might have been the high water mark of western civilization
I agree. Strange how some of the music from the 80s was more predictive than we previously thought.
@@christinahicks-goldston4274 The most intelligent and forward thinking authors, song writers, and movie directors all pretty much knew where we were heading by the early 80's.

Yes, Leftists still make false equivalencies and push an ideology of slavery on free people.
2023
The lyrics are wise. If only people gave a damn
1982 what a great time 11th grade in High School great times.
Deserves about 100 million more views
Yes, and it also deserves more Likes than it gets from the views it's already had. But would you believe that the # of Likes being more than 1% of all the views, as this one has, is very rare on RUclips? Look at any other great songs on YT, incl Zeppelin, and you'll see what I mean.
My fav song. I play it every morning 🌄
Those viewers don't deserve it, leave them to thier slop, the viewcounts have spoken.
I feel so lucky that I grew up in the 80s. I was a freshman in 83. Graduated in 86. Some of the best music ever!
This is the best 80s song ever.Even in 1982 it sounded fresh and it doesn't have any 80s cliche sounds.2022 this song still Rocks.

I'm listening still in 2023❤️
I’m listening in 2023!!! And probably will for years to come. I love this song.
When I joined the Navy in 1989 I was surprised I lived that long.
It's amazing how many songs from the 80's are still so relevant today. It says so much how man hasn't change so much in 40 years!
My favorite band of the 80's. They lasted well into the 90's too, and that was not easy to do in those days.
Back to a time that's lost, but never forgotten. Only reason to pay homage to you tube. To be able to travel back in time and capture it with 3 or 4 minute videos. This ability has really gotten me through tough times in my life.
I miss the 80s
Still watching. Oct. 2019. Who else is with me?
I’m with you. Twelve year old me and 48 year old me. Same person. Same ear for musical quality.
In 83 i was in 2nd grade. but, stilled remember this song on the radio.
If you get a chance to see the Fixx live, do it. They are still awesome and still sound like this.
I fucking LOVED the Fixx. Thought they'd have the staying power of a U2, but to no avail. Great songwriting and expression. If anyone asks why you think yesterday's music is so much better, direct them to this video!
they live in you...fool
You're an imbecile. Shut it !!
Me too.Powerful band
Odd. Billy states something that makes 100% sense, kiwiyank(mix of NZ & USA commonwealth)states they live in you(you=We, as they do)then tops it off with "Fool", "Fool"is the point where the argument started. kiwiyank(mix of NZ & USA commonwealth)is Incorrect.
Song is so much better than the sound quality here allows it to be.
Ahhhhhh. Those early days of MTV. Back when they actually played music videos. Great memories. ♥️😏♥️
Was beginning high school. I wish time froze back then.
The drum and bass combo in this song are thumpin! I miss the eighties, what a good time to be alive!

I was 14 when this tune came out/childhood Cold War lulliby/thanks To our friends in The United Kingdom for the second music invasion in the 80's. Hi to all my Gen X people.
Saw these guys on the beach in Ft Lauderdale Spring Break 1983...a good time indeed.
Ah, like a cool breeze from the past refreshing one’s soul.
Every time I hear the song, I see a vision of American, and Russian ICBMs pointed on an angle at each other with the backdrop of a red sky at night.
Great song along with one thing leads to another, and saved by zero 🙂
The strange thing about living as a young person during the cold war is that we had a vague sense that it could all end at any minute. This gave life a certain meaning and urgency that seems to be missing today. Young people today don't have that anymore...even though technically, the risk of a sudden apocalypse still exists.
I was birthed in Kanada in 1963, and we did the Stop Drop & Roll(under our school desks).
They seem to be more self destructive overall than we were in the 80s
drott150 beautifully stated and I agree with you.
drott150 there was an urgency about it that was all over the media. We were constantly reminded that the world could end any second.
Every time I see a contrail, hear a low-flying jet, or hear an EBS test on the radio, I freeze, for just a second, and wonder whether this is the nuclear attack. After so many years living during the Cold War, it's just ingrained.
09/2023 ..... still listening to and breathing Fresh-air with FIXX ..... Happy and Safe tour guys"

I love when RUclips randomly puts something up that I loved and completely forgot about.
In 1983 I got a Sony Walkman and this is the second song I heard on it. The first one was Thomas Dolby “Blinded Me With Science.” I was 12 years old. Today I turned 50 years old.
The 80's .. some of the best music, ever!..💯🤘
Love 80s music!
I grew up listening to music in the sixties and seventies but the best music came from the eighties. I miss that decade.
Ken, I was created in 1963(to west coast hippy parents)so did the 1967 onwards music thing. Late 80's i was a toddler then little kid, early to mid 70's was a kid to pre-teen, mid 70's to late 80's I was a teen then a young man and girls and all they brought enhanced the music at each period mid 70's onwards.

So appropriate for today.
Miss my childhood I loved the 80s loved this song
I remember this video on MTV before rap ruined it all for us.
Rap has nothing to do with MTV. They barely played it when this video hit the airwaves, back then in the early '80s. And when the mid to late '80s came around it was divided down the middle with just as much Rap as New Wave and/or Rock. If you hate Rap so much, then tell your ppl to stop trying to make it theirs and leave Black music tf alone! How 'bout that?! 🙄
The Fixx.. knew something we didn’t..!!🥳🎶🔥🙏🥰❤️👍
