Most career and job search strategies bombard people with messages telling you to a-million-and-one things like: craft an outstanding resume, write an attention-grabbing cover letter, do an extensive job search, go networking often, reframe your weaknesses, upsell your strengths, impress the recruiters, and upgrade your technical skills.
While those may be a necessary part of the equation to building a meaningful career, it isn't the right place to start. Starting there often leaves even the highest performing professional feeling frustrated, uninspired, and beginning to second guess themselves.
Job postings are like advertisements. They were written by hired hands to attract candidates.
You need to be applying business development strategies to your worthy career goals.
If you don't do this, you can count on having negative thoughts creeping in about what's wrong with your resume, your background, age, experience, or anything you might think is putting you at a disadvantage.

Hi Dr. Lee. I love your content! Could you make a video on what you should do in your first 30/60/90 days as a leader?
Woohoo! I’m gettin me a promotion! Thanks for these great tips!
Thanks Dr Grace. Good advice!
Many times, promotion comes from internal restructuring of the company. Hence having awareness about it will increase the promotional chances by knowing those areas & skillset needed for the same.
Two important questions to find solutions for are -
Q1: Why company should give you the promotion? (Restructuring, retention of good employee, increased company scope/area, Expansion etc)
Q2: What values I will add if I get the promotion? (Excelled in current role and have aptitude to excel in additional scope, Mentoring others, acquired additional skills that includes technical as well as soft skills (difference between current role & role after promotion), representing company confidently at different forums, think your journey i.e. Learner to SME to Strategic to Leadership etc
Anyone who can provide more reasons for Q1 & Q2 !! Together, we can increase the chances of our promotions!!
