Learn the hypnotizing guitar melody in Books of War (instrumental) featuring MF Doom and RZA. This melody was first adapted by Omegah Red, where you might be surprised to learn that it's actually taken from a popular Cambodian song called Kaun Komsott by Ros Sereysothea.
This Books of War guitar lesson focuses on the main melody which includes many sliding techniques, mostly played along the B string. The beginning of the lesson starts with showing you the bass line that the melody is played over, if you also care to learn that. Once you have memorized the notes, try playing along with your acoustic or electric guitar, in time with the examples in this video. Yes you can use a sound clip from this video if you like! This guitar is made by a company called Luna. The particular model I have is called the Luna Fauna Dragon, I believe there is also a Phoenix in this series.

I'm pretty new to guitar and tbh I was wondering if there is any certain type of guitar you specifically need or does any work. I wanted to try and learn this for my first little mini lesson.
Any guitar will work as long as it's in tune. For a beginner, it will be easier if you have an electric guitar, because it's a bit lighter on the fingers. This will be a challenging first lesson, but you will get it with persistence!

@@gitbad the song is about a woman that's been separated from her family and misses them intensely. The singer Ros Sereysothea disappeared during the Khmer Rouge era. She had joined the government Army . I guess they used her for propaganda purposes . As you know the country fell to the Khmer Rouge in 1975 & the rumour is she was captured, tortured & killed.
You may ask how I know ? Well i grew up in the 80s watching Vietnam war films and have been travelling to SE Asia since 2012 & married a Cambodian woman. It's a beautiful country & people that's recovering from genocide. Go there bro. Oh yeah I use your rendition as my ringtone .

Thanks! My guitar is a Luna Fauna Dragon, made by Luna guitars. They also make a phoenix in this design. I got mine off Ebay about 10 years ago!
