@@cesarvazquez961 you have to be sent flying from a hit, where you're able to use wirefall. easy way to test is training room dummy, set turtle to aoe, use rage slash to tank hit, if you get no buff icon, you didn't activate it. just make sure to remove everything but counterstrike, and no cats, for clearest data.
WEX talismans becoming obsolete really hits home. I got super-lucky with them early on, but in about 300 hours I think I've only seen Attack Boost on a talisman maybe once or twice, and not with usable slots.
@@MKPwrz it's good and bad at the same time. More focus is faster charges which means more hits but since you're charging so fast the rage slash kinda becomes riskier to do since you're leaving your hyper armor state faster while also increasing the odds of not benefiting from it's damage boost when you get hit.
this is not the case, resetting rage slash with tackle keeps the damage buff, focus is not a detriment to rage slash in the slightest, but i can see how people would get confused
@@Ippiki9 that's also a recipe for a quick death, tanking hits constantly just for the rage slash boost is not the most efficient way of playing dps or survivability wise.
I really like these build videos! Keep them coming! I've been having tons of fun with Valstrax set + valstrax swax, the concept is basically the same as the rage builds in the sense that you need to get hit to hit harder since you got Invincible Gambit (I've a clip tanking out an Apex Rath heavy explosion attack with half health and no buffs LOL). Trick is I swapped out a single piece from the set, opting for the Almudron Helmet for those sweet 2 level 2 slots and Rapid Morph, and the extra flexibility results in very strong builds, imo. Is that 5% damage loss from not having Dragonheart 5 really that big? I feel like the added flexibility is really nice
So I recently went back and wanted to see if Tigrex had a shot of dethroning Rampage GS. As it turns out it can outdamage it, but the talisman you’ll need to CONSISTENTLY outdamage rampage is a crit eye 3 wex 1 with a single 2 slot. As for gear the rampage set in this video altered for heavy affinity support is needed. Attack boost ramp up is needed on the GS for the outdamage. Note that rousing roar can be used solo or in a group, but the 2ish(?) minute timer on rousing roar leads to longer hunts losing out on long term damage. When it’s all said and done, specific quest mods and hitzone, A TCS from this set yields ~2000 damage, but considering the lengths needed to make the GS work, your better off investing into Rampage GS for the consistency over bigger numbers
LS is more complicated now. there's lot more options where its more or less like swaxe in a way, with elemental being competitive for some match ups. GS was simpler to test so opted for it first. but dont worry, daddy will deliver
I’ve been tinkering with my Focus level on GS rage builds. I took it down to Focus 2 and it felt far comfier for super armour attacks. I dunno, feels like Focus 3 is detrimental to Rage Slash, as you come out of superarmour too quickly. Free up more room to beef up those big hits and make more use of resentment
I started playing focusless GS and it really didn't make a difference other than giving me more wiggle room. Other skills are much more important imo. Just know your shortcuts to RS/TCS.

I was able to make a rampage val build with the attack boost 4 mod that actually eeks out the sharpness type 1 route…. Granted I got a talisman with attack 3 2-1, but slotting 4 levels of attack put it over sharp type 1 build by 6 or 7 hit points of attack and way comfier in sharpness. Worth a shot!
The tldr for Greatswords is Rampage is the new Tigrex, especially for Valstrax sets, and Narga is still Narga. Though there might still be some niches for Tigrex in having extra 1 slots. You can also run Rampage at blue sharpness with the attack ramp up instead, you can reach innate 100% natural affinity and be able to just outhit Narga at the cost of a level of focus while having a very comfy amount of blue. It's not the meta redefinition I was hoping for with 3.0, but Rampage Greatsword does at least mix things up.
Im so sorry to ask but how does Rampage GS gets to 100% affinity? You get 50% for free weakness exploit in Valstrax armour but how do you get the remaining 50%? Thanks in advance i appreciate any help i can get to make a good build.
Affinity surge ramp up (which is 20% affinity) and then either rousing roar cat or max amount of Ce you can slot in (this method requires a rlly good Ce charm, a 2-2 slot would only yield you 1 lvl of Ce if you want focus lvl 3)

you have to do the mystery melds (4th option) and then from there it's just rng. charm farm is essentially the endgame loop. get lucky, be happy. dont get lucky, cry a river and curse capcom
I have a talisman with two level 2 slots and skills: fortify and meastro horn. Is this also a good charm? I just miss the level one slot on the talisman
usable, could be better. fortify is nice tho if you die a lot, and well, your dmg numbers will be trippy if you cart twice then hunt with speedruns buffs and activate vals armor xD
Can I make the narga version with an atk 3 qs 2 1-1 tali? I’d have to sacrifice something but I’m not quite sure what, or if it would still outdamage the rampage one
you can build the rampage one with 3-2-1. for narga, i think it'd be worse than ramp if you settled for less. so yah, narga is only competitive because of my charm, otherwise you lose 2 skills worth essentially which would make rampage surpass it, less you, say, go full resentment for the +25 atk with the 3-2-1 charm (2 resentment decos). could also go 1 max might/latent power and 1 crit eye for 100% crit, which might make it competitive to the builds shown.

Yes. You can slot in the dragon attack on your talisman and also finish the resentment at the same time. Use Rage slash here for potential activation of resentment.
It's fine and to add element damage to GSs that have element. They are level 1 decorations so the cost is fairly cheap. It's best to do this on talismans like the one you have. Your priority for damage on GS should be crit, raw and element in that order. And element is usually dead last because there's so many crit and raw skills to consider but like I said the cost of increasing element damage is cheap so it's okay just don't expect it to beat raw or crit skills on GS.

I got so lucky ehile making an ls build vecause i got the mist god tier charm. I got a 3 attack and 1 quick sheat on a charm that has a tier3 slit and a 1 slot
It’s middling ground. Yes you have less time to get the attack counter boost, but also consider that some monsters hate to stay still so even a second could be enough for them to move out of range again. It’s mostly preference.
i'll do 1 for most of the weapons :) just with my quality i like my vids in it'll take a bit to put them all out, as with work n stuff, only so much time to work on them.
counter only activates if you get knocked off your feet if i'm not mistaken. you'd have to test in training room and see if you get the buff after using rage slash and setting turtle to hit you. if you get no buff icon or increased attack in status page when you hyper armor the attack, counter isn't being activated.
It's kinda like in iceborne. the alatreon great sword had so much dragon damage and sharpness it could keep up with a lot of the other higher raw based weapons.
its only 5%. are you testing in training room? cuz you're numbers will be skewed there and not reflect in-game, with buffs factored. you also may do more dmg on 1 hit, but your dps is way worse as you just lost 40% crit by using vals sword, meaning you'd crit less often. dmg isn't everything, even for GS.

you would get the final focus. so handi 2, cb3, focus 3. i dont think its worth going below 2 handicraft, as you'd have to sharpen twice as much (unless you get protective polish, which for greatsword specifically idk if you'd deal more than 10 attacks in 30 seconds), so 1 extra skill of dmg isn't worth losing focus 3 i feel.
I haven’t done much charm farming but I actually have a crit boost 2 charm with a level 2 slot. It’s basically the only god charm I have but it’s still insane

@@DS_DoggerX I was joking, but only slightly. Element got such a boost this update with the elder dragon, narwa/ibushi, rajang, and Valstrax weapons. For most weapons, element reigns supreme, meaning you want to use an elemental weapon for specific matchups. This was already true before the update for a lot of weapons but it’s even more true now. For greatsword, element was not very good in 1.0 or even 2.0, but it got a big boost in 3.0. Will it beat narga? Yes, in specific matchups. Chameleos GS is now fantastic, Kushala GS beats Narga easily again monsters weak to ice, etc.
@@DS_DoggerX by critlet and rawlet I just meant people who only use Narga and, to a lesser extent, Tigrex weapons. Go element, make a lot of elemental sets, it’s super good and super fun.

But even though I haven’t done the math, I just can’t see Narga beating Kushala GS against Rajang, for instance. Kush GS has 25 less affinity than Narga, but it has 10 more raw and a whopping 45 ice. Please do check it out, though.
Quicksheet 3 wirebug whisper 3 still the best on GS. Since the GS can easily make huge damage. Much better you have the quickness to hit the monster. ;) Try it for yourself

@@stephenjohn2131 You always want to run Affinity Surge as your ramp up for 20%, then Crit Eye 6 and Wex.

Use rampage wepone and layer that wepone to valstrax

i'll do 1 for most of the weapons :) just with my quality i like my vids in it'll take a bit to put them all out, as with work n stuff, only so much time to work on them.

I have been using counter strike on this armor set because I get hit a lot I feel like it's pretty good
counter only activates if you get knocked off your feet if i'm not mistaken. you'd have to test in training room and see if you get the buff after using rage slash and setting turtle to hit you. if you get no buff icon or increased attack in status page when you hyper armor the attack, counter isn't being activated.
@@PWARGaming I just get hit a lot and because the buff last for 30 seconds I get a lot of uptime lol
I’ve managed to do more damage with the Valstrax Great Sword than the Narga Great Sword
It's kinda like in iceborne. the alatreon great sword had so much dragon damage and sharpness it could keep up with a lot of the other higher raw based weapons.
How much does wyvern exploit increase damage?
its only 5%. are you testing in training room? cuz you're numbers will be skewed there and not reflect in-game, with buffs factored. you also may do more dmg on 1 hit, but your dps is way worse as you just lost 40% crit by using vals sword, meaning you'd crit less often. dmg isn't everything, even for GS.
With true charge and WITHOUT resentment activated, I did 1896dmg... Narga GS is still OP

So I have a crit boost 2 with a level 2 slot charm which skills should I go for for the white sharpness build?
you would get the final focus. so handi 2, cb3, focus 3. i dont think its worth going below 2 handicraft, as you'd have to sharpen twice as much (unless you get protective polish, which for greatsword specifically idk if you'd deal more than 10 attacks in 30 seconds), so 1 extra skill of dmg isn't worth losing focus 3 i feel.

@@DS_DoggerX I was joking, but only slightly. Element got such a boost this update with the elder dragon, narwa/ibushi, rajang, and Valstrax weapons. For most weapons, element reigns supreme, meaning you want to use an elemental weapon for specific matchups. This was already true before the update for a lot of weapons but it’s even more true now. For greatsword, element was not very good in 1.0 or even 2.0, but it got a big boost in 3.0. Will it beat narga? Yes, in specific matchups. Chameleos GS is now fantastic, Kushala GS beats Narga easily again monsters weak to ice, etc.
@@DS_DoggerX by critlet and rawlet I just meant people who only use Narga and, to a lesser extent, Tigrex weapons. Go element, make a lot of elemental sets, it’s super good and super fun.

@@DS_DoggerX yeah that’s why I said I was still kind of joking. Narga is obviously awesome and super viable for any fight. But even though I haven’t done the math, I just can’t see Narga beating Kushala GS against Rajang, for instance. Kush GS has 25 less affinity than Narga, but it has 10 more raw and a whopping 45 ice. Please do check it out, though.
Quicksheet 3 wirebug whisper 3 still the best on GS. Since the GS can easily make huge damage. Much better you have the quickness to hit the monster. ;) Try it for yourself
