    A Thing to note about the Guard Tackle. You are actually guarded for almost the entire start animation. The guard tackle will also completly negate the knockback of any attack hitting your guard(as long as you can guard against it).
    Last but not least, if your guarded tackle is hit by a monster attack, you'll also immediatly skip to TCS/Rageslash.
    The move will slow you down by a bit, but it can fullfill almost the same role as the strongarm stance.

    • @alfamari7675
      @alfamari7675 2 года назад

      Ya I've been wondering what all the hype around strongarm stance is. It's just a guard tackle that uses 2 wirebugs instead of 0? And this is now revolutionary? Seems like an inferior downgrade.
      I can see it being good if it now gives TCS hyper armor like rage slash, or gives focus 3 without having to slot it, but I just dont understand what properties and what it brings to the table that guard tackle doesnt already do for FREE.

      @alfamari7675 2 года назад +1

      @@thechugg4372 He only said that power sheathe and offensive guard increase his damage. And I don't see why offensive guard wouldn't work on guard tackle. You also cannot see "his damage doubling" in this video because there is no side by side comparison demonstration to actually compare it to. Its all just strong arm stance on different monsters hitting different hit zones with maybe different builds and skills. Everything else he mentioned in the video is exactly equivalent to, or inferior than, guard tackle. This goes for every other youtuber who talks about strong arm stance aswell. The only time I've ever heard any real reason to use strong arm stance is python's comment that mentioned the damage boost. Literally, every RUclipsr and video falls behind python's 1 single comment. Because that's literally the only thing worth mentioning about the ability. (Although I dont know where he got that information since nobody talks about it and it's not on the wiki.) Everyone else wants to talk about how it mechanically functions like guard tackle but without mentioning any reason why its actually better, just that out of nowhere this duplicate and at times inferior mechanic (ignoring the dmg boost and only looking at charge skipping) is now broken in sunbreak even though it's been around since base rise release. I'd bet these youtubers dont even know about the additional modifier when they make these videos. Which is the reason it makes these videos so confusing. It's like saying "guys guess what? Sunbreak just released a new move called 'new' guard tackle that let's you skip charge levels and it costs 2 wirebugs, greatsword is now broken op in sunbreak!"; meanwhile everyone that new about old guard tackle in base rise: ??? These video's should honestly just talk about how it gives a 1.35 modifier, that's it, that's whats new, that's whats good, that's whats strong, that's the only thing different, that's it and that's only it. If it didn't have the 1.35 multiplier it wouldn't be worth using. The charge skipping isn't worth mentioning as it's something that's been in the game since base rise. So if you aren't emphasizing the 1.35 modifier you might as well be talking about guard tackle.
      This is a crticism of these videos' and their formats, not the move itself (only because python has been the only one to tell me why the move is different in the first place).

    Elemental surge slash is top tier in multiplayer, which I strongly believe its true main purpose. Solo hunts go with traditional tcs strongarm but in multiplayer specially afflicted hunts go with elemental surge slash because its guarateed you gonna miss most of your strongarm tcs. Blue scroll = surge slash combo then red scroll = tcs just for sleep nuking monsters head if you had the chance ofc, alot of adhd players out there wont give a shit and just wakeup monsters with tickle hits.
    My favorite elemental surge slash gs is the silver rath because its easier to build with and you can squeeze alot of damage in that shit
    ab 7
    resentment 5
    agit 5
    fire attack 5
    crit b 3
    wex 3
    dereliction 3
    blood rite 2
    recovery up 2
    defiance 2 ( really good at level 3) level 2 not so much and you can use flinch free instead
    chain crit 1
    part breaker 1
    crit ele 1
    element exploit 1
    final boss head, arms and boots
    silver rath chest
    malzeno coil
    You can actually fill in the four slot head piece of crisis +4 instead of recovery up 2 then remove 1 level of challenger and slot in level 1 crisis for 20 more damage
    I do have a good charm but you can remove challenger as necessary because per level and uptime it is the worst even compared to resuscitate which is a 3 level skill compared to 5 of challenger so it is the least priority. Armor augments aint really a problem because getting resentment is not that rare even wex and crit boost because rerolling all depends on your patience (post update i have no idea how rerolling works now). Any monsters that are weak to fire you can literally melt lmao

    Surge Slash Combo has a lower DPS than just charging up TCSs, but it's a lot easier to use. You don't need to time any counters or position yourself so the monster will be in striking range 5 seconds from now. It's a much simpler weapon like S&S, where you run up to the monster, dodge its attacks, and hit vulnerable parts during the openings.

Also being able to have 2 ways to skipping strong charged slash (guard tackle and strongarm) can be really good in certain situations.

    Yeah Strongarm doesnt work that well with Surge Slash. I use Adamant Charge for mobility and super armor and it works super well with status trigger. Head waist Goldian and the rest Risen Chameleos makes for a super powerful poison build hitting 3k on the training dummy with a TCS. Its nowhere close to the 5k+ with Strongarm but its super solid and you shouldn't feel like you're lacking in the damage department.

  • @LeonStephan
    @LeonStephan 2 года назад +3

    Strongarm is indeed strong but super hard to use because the monsters move a lot and by the time you trigger the counter, the monster is either too far away or preparing a followup, both rendering Strongarm kinda useless. The game doesn't cooperate a lot with Strongarm.

  • @svgmike6619

    Main reason some GS mains like myself don’t do the skill swap is for repositioning.
    Even in solo hunts, we understand that we can get a big chunk of damage, but in a real fight it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that more than half the monsters in the game have a knock back that can throw a hunter off, to exploit the system it requires timing, and it’s simply easier to reposition instead of waiting for the perfect time for the monster to get a hit off. This is what causes less times in speed runs mind you, unless someone specifically has their auto craft set to mini BB’s it’s not beneficial.
    Also shoulder charges provide Iframes; while skill switching to animation cancel into a normal GS charge does not.
    To do both maneuvers require specific conditions for the latter to be the better option, but more times than not a reposition is favored over the skill switch. This would especially be the case in solo hunts as GS excels in run and gun play styles until a knockdown which then makes the skill switch animation cancels viable for the hunt.
    Hope this makes sense to anyone who also questioned why most GS mains don’t just animation cancel with skill switch.

    • @darkhero2
      @darkhero2  2 года назад +1

      Good input. Of course it's not something you can do all the time, the only way to consistently pull it off is if you have practiced a run, which I'm sure most people don't . But the reason I bring this up is that I play with many GS mains and none of them knew about this so I wanted to put it out there, for those that weren't aware. Simply that.

    • @svgmike6619
      @svgmike6619 2 года назад

      @@darkhero2 interesting thanks for putting it out there for other GS mains.
      Also for a tip on the surge combo your having trouble with, it’s also important to mention that the surge combo is better utilized off a knockdown as you get higher damage in total from it when compared to the normal charges; not that it’s impossible to learn how to use it all throughout a hunt, but for testing purposes you get more bang from your buck off of knockdowns.
      Good luck and hope you enjoy your hunts more.

    Don't hate me everyone, but I honestly don't like Strongarm Stance. Not as in I'm bad at using it, I'm talking conceptually. It and the new Swaxe counter just feel like such uninspired additions to the weapons that don't mesh well with their weapon identities, and are also broken as frick. Like, really? After base Rise, did Swaxe and GS really need counters? Especially ones that are so braindead and easy to use and still do frankly stupid amounts of damage? These weapons hardly look like themselves anymore in Sunbreak.
    Do you remember pre-Rise, when all of the short video clips of weapons doing cool stuff that people posted, actually looked like they took insane amounts of planning, skill, timing, and more than anything positioning? For GS and Swaxe in particular, it feels like nowadays 90% of those clips are just counters now. Flinching a Scorned Magnamalo or any other monster out of its ultimate attack isn't impressive when your counter has about a gajillion active frames and high damage and flinch values. What's ACTUALLY impressive is something like landing a perfect TCS in World/Iceborne to flinch the monster moments before it hits your hunter, because you didn't have some counter to take care of the timing and positioning for you. I hope that they stay FAR away from this counter and I-frame crap in Wilds and really go back and focus on the positioning-oriented gameplay that Monster Hunter has always had.

    My issue with the GS in Sunbreak is that the counter into true charged slash makes the weapon incredibly boring, the counter is not as flashy and stylish as the counters in LS, sure it makes for fun moments when and if you land the true slash cause with how much monsters move in G Rank is nearly impossible to hit them unless they stay still for long periods of time, which most don't, or when they get downed or sleeping. And trying anything else, you lose out on damage unless you play elemental GS. What I want back is the bonk GS playstyle from Iceborne, k.o. ing monsters with GS is always fun but due to the k.o. skills being nerfed in Rise its nearly impossible to pull off.

      It depends on peoples personal preference and the monster you fight. I went through all of sunbreak without using strong arm not because i hated how it worked, its because i didnt know how it worked. But once i figured it out, it clicked like butter with me. Personally with me, i use it as a free way to get a tcs off through small barrel bombs. Most monsters i dont use it on sense i know i gotta wait for them to slow down example being seregios and Zinogre. Anywho, i dont see Strongarm as a problem skill, its a simple case of if you dont like using it just use hunting edge or adamant charged slash. No one forces you to use that skill except yourself.
      But back to talking about SAS, i personally love it and its insanely fun. Mainly because monsters can counter my counter attempt, like gaismagorm and Scorned Magnamalo, as well as all of the afflicted monsters. They are built to counter specific moves especially both adamant charged slash and Strongarm stance.

      You saying like there's no oter ways to play gs, new combo is incredible, rage slash...Yes i hate it as it makes gs a no brainer, but it actually makes you hunts easier, new counter can be used not only as damage dealer but also as a panic move if you dont have time to dive. But i appreciate you iceborne love, best part for me, as your gs strikes feel so impactful, when in rise you have those damage sponges who dont care about your attacks. Yes rise gs is fun to play, but iceborne one is more satisfying, as it still wants you to learn a monster, but gives you pure happiness when you land a hit, monster falls, his head breaks etc. Rise: okay you did 6k damage, ok, do it another tree times and i will flinch
