I love Vander. He's a good man and a loving father, but he utterly failed as a leader of Zuan. He lost his will to fight so he settled for making a deal with Greyson to secure "peace" for the lanes. This "peace" however is a facade. Living condition remained as horrible as ever, and the lives of the people we as impoverished as ever. The moment that Topside willed it, they sent the enforcers down and started brutalizing his people. We his people confronted him about this and said that they should not stand for this abuse, his only response was "We can't fight back, we'll survive this trust me". This type of apathy, inaction and adherence to maintain the status quo is what drove people like Sevika into to arms of Silco. Even if Silco was a bastard, he had an actual plan and a drive to free Zuan from oppression.
I love this comment! You're right , Vander was a chill and genuinely awesome guy but a horrible leader. He wanted to keep peace and not even so much as protest against Topside. This mentality would have kept Zaun in subjugation for much much longer. Whatever we feel about Silco, they needed that bastard.
@@Dragonblade722 Rubbish. Vander didn't lose the fight or have become weak. He just become wise and patient. He has a long term plan that was doing great for the lane. Only impatient and foolish people like Sevika and Silco think Vander was weak. They were fools.
@ What plan? You mean the one where he gives himself up to the enforcers leaving the lanes basically leaderless. Or when the enforcers were brutalizing his people and he said don’t worry about it. Yah what a great plan that was.
That would be such a fever dream, although I highly doubt they'd vibe though. Ambessa is a warmonger mostly interested in personal gain. Silco's actions are all centered around liberating Zaun. Vastly different priorities
Funny thing, they aren't that different really, but different priorities. Silco is interested in Liberating Zaun at all and any cost. Ambessa will do absolutely anything, (including burning the whole world to the ground) to protect her family's interests.
@KingJosh-u5t Yeah but that partnership would be mutually beneficial, both have more than enough business guile to recognize that, and while yes their personalities and goals are different, they are both extremely intelligent and competent, dedicated above everything to their stated goal, with pursuit of power and dominance over their opponents by any means necessary as primary means to achieve their ends, even though yes the way they go about this vastly differs, with Ambessa being more of a hard power player while Silco prefers soft power approach. In short Ambessa is ultimate wolf, Silco the ultimate fox. Also them valuing loyalty/family above anything else. Not to mention both of them being underdogs in their respective scopes (Silco in Piltover, Ambessa in Noxus) I think they'd have this strange love-hate relationship of disliking each others methods but admiration for the way they go about it. Also no trust whatsoever as they can trust one thing - everything s/he does is in his interest, because that's what I would've done. And yeah, art of people shipping those two together would be hilarious, which might have nothing to do with the plot, byt I don't care! 😄
@KingJosh-u5t so both have family/their people as first priority their whole life is dedicated to and they are willing to do anything to achieve that? Yeah
great video man, it is absolute necessary to talk about Silco, for me he is the most interesting character in arcane and one of my favorites. I love the fact that people see him as "'villain" and at the same time he is not, and that is what makes arcane so especial
No power ever gave the people freedom without violence. Silco brought them to the table, to the point they were willing to grant Zaun independence. Vander was a great community organiser and made sure nobody went without, but it was clear that the people of the Undercity were slowly being strangled. Silco cared about Zaun, Vander cared about the people. Whether or not what Silco did to the Undercity to achieve this was worth it is the question. I'm kinda annoyed that Arcane basically ignored the obvious outcome of the finale. Sevika gets one vote for the Undercity against, what, six for Piltover? She, and they, will be sidelined for ever. Ask Camina Drummer about it.
You're right, Zaun getting only one representative is not sensible and is hardly just. That said, it's progress. And hopefully, they can make greater strides from there. Thanks for watching
Small correction: Silco didn't create Shimmer, it was actually Singed that created it to keep his daughter alive, and Silco weaponized it for his own means. Love this video btw! I feel like it's really high quality!
ABSOULTELY AGREE. It's kinda hard to stay sane with the insane amount of Silco haters out there, but this voice of reason is just so satisfying to listen to so THANK YOU for pointing out the good things that make him a complete person with good and bad traits, not only as a villain that knows for no kindness and is blinded by his vision of independence no matter what it takes.
"No one is positions of power is innocent-Singed" Powerful Zaunites like Silco oppressed powerless Zaunites. Powerful cities like Piltover Oppressed Powerless cities like Zaun. Yin-Yang. No one is truly good or truly evil. Silco killed Firefighters. He paid enforcers to kill them, jinx killed them too. Firefighters are the only ones who truly cared Abt Zaunites. SIlco too in the end gave up Zaun's independence to save his daughter, jinx. Silco is no hero. His belief of "for the greater good" is flawed.
Of course, Silco's methods and his belief that his cause justifies his actions is horrible. However, we can't deny the fact that he was the only one willing to do anything about Zaun's oppression.

What? The alt universe show that Vander was right. If Silco follow Vander, Zaun would have prospered.
@ It’s more likely with Silco there to give Vander a kick in the ass, Vander was able to stand up to topside and get actual peace.

Silco is definitely an interesting character, and his story needs to be told.

I completely agree! It's even more interesting to see how Silco continued to influence Zaun after his death
Silco's impact was definitely underrated.

You know, i wonder what Silco's reaction to Viktor colony and farm would be. BEFORE the robots.
That's an interesting question though. I genuinely don't know. I reckon he'll be amazed at it.
