The problem is..The law-abiding citizens have their rights removed, they comply, and the criminals keep their guns and the citizens have no way to protect themselves and their families.
No 'real' people at this meeting.... the public gallery has been filled by a self-interest group. The Mayor had to remain polite with the crowd in order to show care. There must have been a real reason why the 1970's Council felt they needed to be able to empower the Mayor to make on-the-spot emergency powers.
Resist Tyranny. The Government by the People for the People must be saved. Thank You to the Citizens for showing up and speaking on behalf of Free People everywhere.
It really ticks me off that politicians don't want to ever hear what the "people" need to say. They want all the power and the money that we have but screw us. Then when they have a snoot full they just walk out. Shows me that they have no real answers for us. My vote this year will be for the only people so has the balls to stand up for the people of the state of Wa. and has been trying for the last 22 years.......Tim Eyman. Get the job done.
Rebecca Hagemann they came in and discussed COVID-19. In fact if you watch the city council meeting you’ll see about 5 people talk into the same mic and stand 2’ apart from each other. The same safety concerns they were preaching were thrown away when it came to them. We had a right to voice our opinion and they shut it down. That’s wrong.
Could not agree more... the Council, it seems, had published their agenda (e.g. what the meeting was all about) this self-interest group had basically all piled into the Council chamber to disrupt Council business. The council was staring in the monster's mouth of an emergency and wanted to reassure their townsfolk as to what they were doing about it. Not discuss the rights of a gun toting self-interest group.
@@whatthesamhill5682 the point is that the public gallery should be for 'normal' voters to be able to attend and witness the discussions and decisions of their representatives ... not used to fill up available seats by one single group and - no not every group is a self interest group. I used to be a political campaign manager and one thing we used to do (although i was always uncomfortable about ir) would be 'rent-a-crowd' pulling in our own supporters to hog the microphone at council and community meetings. the desired result is that the people you are trying to scrutinise leave the room, get pissed off or ignore you... sometimes that was just the EXACT intention of the rent-a-crowd - but leaves that lone voice who could have asked a spot on question silenced.
For those under the impression that the city council meeting was about taking away gun rights or alcohol sales: The council meeting was about how to deal with the Covid 19 crisis, it had nothing to do with guns or alcohol and it’s a waste of precious time and resources to distract from putting safety plans and preparations into place for the public health-this includes YOU and your family. For those of you who need to know what that means, it’s about making sure the Whatcom Health Department is doing what they need to do, it’s about organizing to take care of homeless people, it’s about ramping up testing, protection against transmission of the disease, and making sure the hospital is prepared for a large influx of ICU patients. Again, nothing to do with guns or alcohol. Tim Eyman erroneously seized on the wording of an old law to create alarm and panic where there was no need to have any. Again, as it was said in the video, the City Council of Bellingham clearly stated all of this on their website previous to the meeting, including asking the public to direct comments and questions via email because we are social distancing and in a state of emergency-they are not silencing the public, they gave us another avenue to speak instead of in person commentary in order to protect people from possibly spreading or contracting Coronavirus. This is not a drill nor an emergency test, we have a serious crisis happening, it’s not a partisan issue, it’s a protecting the vulnerable issue. Tim Eyman is not a trustworthy reality filter, look with your own eyes. Think for yourself. If you read Fleetwood’s statement he clearly says the meeting is not about gun control. You can also watch the meeting for yourself to find out what it’s about, instead of making assumptions based on false information.
Everyone should be at home 🏡 and practicing social distancing 🚷. Why not just have it streamed live for the sake of the governor’s declaration. 👮🏻♂️I kept waiting for the security guards to take him outside. No means no, not keep asking in different ways. 😒
The funny part is you somehow think that one parties better than the other, when both clearly are un-American!!!! someday you’ll wake up and realize both parties want us to fight each other because that’s where they get their power if we all stand together as Americans, they have no power

Oh, excellent projector work. The AV club would be proud.
Fire them and elect people who care about all people. Not just themselves!
Jeez, I hope they counted the chairs after Tim left.
Tim Eyman is one of the great snake oil salesmen in the history of our state.
He's the perfect Republican. A liar, a cheat and a thief.
