- Village of Carpentersville President Bill Sarto demands that his chief political opponent, Paul Humpher, be removed from office for being convicted of beating his wife, and due for sentencing. When trustees Ed Ritter, Kay Teeter, Judy Sigwalt, and Keith Hinz refuse to allow a motion for discusssing the issue -- Bill Sarto loses all control. He screams at his fellow board members, calls one a "convict", says another trustee's son commits adultery, and ends his speech with what other board members take as a death threat. Recorded April 1, 2008, at the Village of Carpentesville Hall. (NOT an April Fool's Joke!)

This would be an example of how NOT to have a procedural argument. Even in a low level elected position a certain decorum and grace are required. Personal and ad hominem attacks are totally out of order. While I have felt like I wanted to just stand up and scream sometimes during committee and on the floor you have to maintain. Judy SIgwalts son had sex with the convicts wife, and when the "convict" (Humpher) found out about it, he beat his wife with a baseball bat. He was charged. For some reason Judy backed her son, Humpher and the wife, all 3 of them, and Sarto thought it was a disgrace that a convicted abuser was still on the board. He wanted not only him off the board, but he wanted Sigwalt off too, as she is the combative one against him in every video. If Humphr was kicked off the board, Sarto claimed the position vacant but Humphr refused to step down so Sarto wanted to force the position vacant. If Humphr was kicked of fthe board, it would balance the power as well, because Zalinksi and Sarto were the only 2 on the same page in all votes, they were always outnumbered 5-2 in almost every vote, the balance of power wouldve made it more even, so Sarto jumped on this (and rightfully so), but the board knowing that they would lose some of their own power all voted to keep Humphr on, Humphr refused to step down (and stayed for years after), and eventually Sarto was voted OUT as village president a year later to the guy named Ed Ritter who is the male who is combative against him in this video. Having worked for a city in IT, and having to sit through council meetings to make sure nothing technical goes wrong, it’s usually highly entertaining when council members hate each other.

Yet extremely frustrating, I was in a similar position and never saw something as aggressive as this but it’s a good microcosm for local government / board meetings in general. frustrating is the one word that comes to mind

Sarto and the chunky brunette were voting to have that wife beater removed but the rest of the board wants to keep him on. The issue is how can you set laws against the citizens and punishment but when one of us (board members) commit a crime and is arrested those laws don’t apply? And it’s true. This video is like an excerpt of the US Gov and normal politicians. In this vid it’s in micro form for us to understand and some of us still don’t bc that’s what our system is FREEDOM.
