Surprisingly, Snape is the reason everything started and finished. He gave prophecy to Voldemort and due to Snape Harry knew how to defeat him.
Yeah, if Snape had never given the prophecy, then the entire series would have not happened/been completely different.
But if he never gave the prophecy harry would be happy
@@sudhanshurai78 But then Voldermort could technically still be alive because he never tried to murder Harry and Harry would never have killed him, but I get what you're saying.
wait didn't Trelawney give Voldemort the prophecy...?
@@BATMADZ_ Trelawney was the one who told Dumbledore, Snape who was a death eater at that time, eavesdropped and told Voldemort about the prophecy.
Snape is such a complex character, and Alan Rickman played him so splendidly. Rest in peace, Snape and Alan, always. 😇

Theory I have for why Snape picks on Neville so much: since Neville was the other child the prophecy could have been about, I think snape is angry that it turned out to be Harry rather than Neville. If the chosen one was Neville, Lilly might still be alive. So now he does all he can to punish Neville.
Good theory👍🏻
Great theory 👍👍
So snape punishes neville for being alive?
@@emilygrace619 pretty much. If neville was the chosen one snape really wouldn’t have a real reason to hate him, since lily would still be alive. However I think he’d probably still have the same feelings towards harry even if lily lived.
good point
You know how everyone forgave Darth Vader who killed millions and didn’t forgive Snape
First of, Vader led to the deaths of billions.
Second, forgiveness is not even the point of his redemption. The thing was, that Luke believed Vader could be turned back and help him defeat the Emperor despite the things he did. It wasn't that, "he was good all along" but that "there is still some good left, burried under everything he did".
I agree with you
I mean, there are good reasons why Anakin is better than Snape and reasons why Anakin is worse than Snape. The main reason I think Anakin might be better than Snape is that before he became Darth Vader, he was much more kind and caring. For example, he didn't treat his Padawan learner Ahsoka or his clone troopers the way Snape treated his students. However, once Anakin turned into Vader, he ended up slaughtering the students in the Jedi Temple. While Snape turned to the avatar of light out of his love for Lily, Anakin turned to the nexus of the dark to save Padme. Both Snape and Anakin were ultimately responsible for the death of the women they love. I find that people forgive Vader more easily because Anakin and Vader are seen as two separate individuals living within the same body, while Snape's bullying and vindictive personality has been with him all his life.
Well, and I’m just stating a point, Vader was really the product created by Anakin’s fear of losing padme, plus he was aware of the terrible things he did and believed to be beyond redemption. Snape while he loves lily was still doing the death eater things.
Vikkran behind the scenes he killed millions

So basically snake was the antihero?
@@5uspicious_Person anti villain maybe?
@@ANP4158 I'd say Antihero because during the events of the books he never was evil, he joined dumbledore and remained by his side even when he played triple agent. His bullying and mistreatment of others wasn't out of malice, but out of habit from his own issues.
Snape died looking into Harry's eyes, the eyes of a boy who survived because the woman he loved had died. The eyes of a boy who looked like the spitting image of his father; the man who bullied him, then married the love of his life. Imagine having to look into those eyes at that moment; the eyes that both pained you intensely and made you feel love more than anything in the world. Snapes final moments were perhaps the greatest we saw in any character.

Snape never stopped to think “What’s Lily gonna think of me for bullying her son just because he looks like James?”
Snape: Nah!!!! She is okay with a little of harsh discipline
exactly! imo snape wasn’t in love with lily, he was obsessed with her. he only wanted to protect lily for himself, not caring how much it would impact her when her husband and son died. he threw a hissy fit when lily didn’t like that he was hanging out with the death eaters and called her a mudblood.
love comes with respect, that is not respect.
@@baileyyh72 It wasn’t until he changed sides and worked with Dumbledore that he finally learned what love truly meant, even though he never showed it as much.

harry was a reminder that lilly didn't pick snape so harry must suffer even as snape helps keep him alaive

We all fans still sad about Alan Rickman's pass away. His acting made us understand his character so much more and this video may comemorate his pass.
I would argue Alan Rickman is the main reason why the character is so popular. He brought added likeability to an already complex character, which to be honest, was missing with book Snape.
I agree so much.
@@alexlazzerly3677 He said that he was told to do some of that by Rowling.
Ok but why has NOBODY spoken about Snape telling Phineas Nigellus not to call Hermione a Mudblood while he was Headmaster?
Surprised nobody's talked about that. Most of the shittiest things that Snape did were before his redemption at the hands of Dumbledore. Obviously his treatment of neville, harry and hermoine is shit but being around the company of DEATH EATERS for decades will mess with your head.
@@mosorireayewale2820 He was a 40 year old man, not a child he had no logical reason to bully a bunch of school children because the girl he creepily obsessed over wasn't into him. He was just a petty jackass.
You act like not being xenophobic is somehow notworthy when most people aren't and shouldn't be by default.
He only did that because he has guilt over that word since using it killed his friendship with Lilly. It was the straw that broke the camels back. And most of what he did wrong wasn’t before his”redemption” with Dumbledore. How about tryind to send Sirius to the dementors. How about bullying Neville and Harry? All after his supposed redemption. He is very selfish and childish and his motivation is guilt. Not the actions of a good person.
@@occheermommy While I agree with you on Harry and Neville I dont about him trying to send Sirius to the dementors. Keep in mind that when he did that he did not know that Sirius was innocent therefore that does not make him a bad person. As far as he knew at the time he was sending a mass murderer and the traitor responsible for the Potters deaths to the dementors.
Well actually the whole Harry Potter is based on the Dumbledore-Snape conversation. Severus Snape was one of the best charecters to read and watch(thanks to the brilliant acting of legendary Alan Rickman). JK Rowling ensured that till the end of 6th book we can consider him as a double agent while from the very 1st book she was clear about him. Although he has some negative points like he's not a good teacher, but I still consider him as an Anti-hero and one of the main reasons for the huge success of Harry Potter.
No I didn't think he was the best character to watch. The movies made me too frustrated, the way they portrayed Snape. Of course, Alan Rickman had nothing to do with it and didn't write the script. But I still think they didn't do the book fans justice

" We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on...that’s who we really are.” This quote fits Snape perfectly
As Rowling mentioned, snape was all grey. He bullied children for no reasons but he also saved harry's life and wizarding world also.
He hated Harry because he looked like James. But when he got to know that he was having his mother's eyes he spent his rest of the life protecting harry.
Rowling did her part very well on writing about snape. He was the villan who put Lily and James' life at an end but also a hero who risked his life everyday to protect the son of love of his life and saving wizarding world.
I wouldn't say Snape bullied students for NO reason. An irrational one, or one that held no moral value maybe, but not for no reason at all.
@@mx.confused Snape was a bully but not to all, he was to Harry, Hermione and Nevile but not the best to the others
@Agent Duckie ummm...............
@Agent Duckie Jesus! That's the most disturbing thing I read. Where did you get that idea? Like, point out a scene from the movies/text where Snape misbehaved with female students.
@Agent Duckie I was referring to you your comment above. What makes you think Snape would be a predator to girl Harry, when there's literally no evidence he ever misbehaved with his students?
i think we can all agree that snape is an undeniably complex character who we will never be able to fully figure out.
When Snape killed Dumbledore, I had a feeling he was not what the author wanted us to believe. What a tragic character he was, loving something he lost and couldn’t have.
If only he didn't call her the wizard equivalent of the n-word and didn't join a racist group that targets people like her...
How Snape treats Harry summarised simply who he sees in him.
When he sees James in Harry (coz Harry looks very much like his father), Snape hated him.
But when he sees Lily in Harry (All those years protecting him and the last moment of his life looking into Lily's eyes), he cares for him.
Thought?
Very Complex
Yep
That fact that he saw James in Harry not Harry himself, make it even worse.
Yes, but it makes it worse. It means that when Harry is not in immediate danger, Snape chooses to ignore his "love" for Lily, so he can play out his revenge fantasies now that he has power over the James stand in.
Snape only love lily and he couldn’t overcome her death(all thanks to his drak deeds) my point here is that snape couldn’t overcome lily’s death and that’s why he agreed to protect Harry. It’s not because of his love for Harry. He is a bully and selfish person who agrees to become good because he is guilty of the death of his love.
Snaps wasn’t on Voldemort’s side or on Harry’s side
He was in Lily’s
He was _in_ Lily
Snaps 😂😂😂😂😂
You made a typo... Right?
He wished he was in her
@@oi6915 Lmao.
Basically, Snape is a hero who had an awful life yet was still one of the most important parts of Voldemort’s downfall, and truly sacrificed everything to save the Wizarding world. However he acted like an unnecessarily large asshole to people who have had lives fraught with pain just like him, who he really should have empathised with and been kind to, instead of bullied. He also willingly joined Voldemort and only really cared about saving the Potters because of his love for Lily.
ye
Could he have succeeded if students didn't fear him? At a certain point, there is a limit to how much you can do and keep up your image as a Death Eater.
he had more of a, uh, unhealthy obsession with lily-
@Hubbacat Snape loved lily, sure. But did lily see him like that?
He had an awful life because he chose wrongly. Every sacrifice he made, was for Lily.
"He tried to save the Potters"
He tried to save ✨Lily✨
He didn't care if Harry and James died, only that Lily lived.
Does "hide them hide them all" mean nothing to you?
@@rubenmanukyan9337 He only cared about Lily, yes in the movies he said hide them all, but in the books he only said to hide Lily, which disgusted Dumbledore.
@@maggied363 Dumbledore even said: You disgut me, leave
Then he protected ALL them with Fidellius
exactly
So? Why he should care a scumbag that bullied him for no reason and stole the love of his life?!
Snape is the kind of guy who would laugh at a little girl in tears. Then he’d run into a burning building without hesitation to save her life. He was not a “good guy” but he was a stand-up guy, because he did GREAT things without hope of reward or recognition - that's a real man right there. "I don't care if yall appreciate me or not, it's my duty so I'll do it regardless"
If Snape didn't laugh at little girls in tears he'd be a stand-up good guy. I guess he was a good person anyway.
Ex-fucking-actly! If only the rest of the fandom could reason like that! Snape is basically the Oskar Schindler of the potterverse: a grade-A asshole in his everyday life and a fucking hero when it matters
Well Snape didn't help Hermione when she got jinxed and her teeth grew massively. So technically he didn't help a crying girl at all. Regardless what snape did in the end. It doesn't excuse the fact he treated non slytherins horribly. I still don't like snape despite the good he did.
@@AhsokaTano1999 What he is saying is that he would save a dying person which he would if he had the opportunity. And to be honest someone had to treat the slytherins well everyone else din't really like them
I don't think movie Snape would've laugh at a little girl tbh but book Snape might have.
I actually think Snape is good. Regardless of all the bad stuff he did he always ensured Harry’s safety and we all know why that was important.
He’s a good hero but a bad person.
Like say a guy cures cancer then punches a puppy. You owe him a respect but he also punched a puppy. Add ten extra good points then you have Snape.
Yeah
I think he’s more bad, he’s on the good side when it’s comes to Dumbledore vs Voldemort, but he’s a bad teacher and shouldn’t bully Harry and Neville.
@@rainbow_slayz someone commented earlier saying that he’s just had a crappy childhood and made bad decisions. I don’t know this just my opinion.
Because he was obsessed with Lily. Just because he did ONE good thing doesn’t mean he’s good at all
Honestly I thought of Snape as a good guy because I saw the movies first before being able to get the books and yeah there is quite a difference between them.
Movie: I was fascinated by Alan Rickman's portrayal of Snape
Books: Not really a good or bad person more like an immature adult who can't let go of the past. especially grudges....
Yes same, I watched the movies first and was able to forgive Snape and feel bad for him and even thought that James was the villian but then I started reading the books (I am halfway through the fourth currently) and honestly he's too horrible in his ways of bullying Harry and Neville while James actually matured and stopped his bullying in the end
Literally how I feel.
@BTB designZ I don't see how him joining the death eater makes him a bad person? He was an abused and traumatized child that also got bullied in school (hell Sirius nearly killed him). He is the "perfect victim" to join a sect.
@@damonle7221 See I always saw it more as seeking revenge than being a good person.
Snape really didn't have anything to live for by the time the books started.
He had few if any friends, he was in a gray area where no one was sure if he was Death Eater or spy. He lead Slytherin House and very obviously favoured them.
And Lily, the woman he obsessed over, was killed by his boss.
He finds out Voldemort is still alive and that Harry is the only one who can kill the noseless bastard.
Snape could have been doing things for good reasons, he truly could have, but considering how much disdain and anger he held towards Harry I see it more as if Harry survives then Voldemort dies. i.e. the guy who killed Lily dies.
Which is if anything, an act of selfishness than an act of good. It just so happens that it helps a lot of people too.
as a person who both watch and read the books I agree with you.there is a lot of difference
When Hermione got her teeth enlarged and he said he saw no difference that made me really hate him

He is too complex to say "he is good" or "he is bad". For me, he is a man who has had no luck in life.
I mean he joined the deatheaters in the first wizarding war, that was all his own fault and not bad luck.
He had incredible luck. He was never found out by Voldemort, the most powerful dark wizard of the time. He isn’t really bad by the time we see him in the books, but definitely was prior as he joined Voldemort. In the books his worst qualities are being jerks to people.

Just wanted to make a point. I think one of his worst things was bullying Neville. Some people defend this saying he is doing it because Neville could have been the chosen therefore lily wouldn’t die. I think this is no argument as there is no reason for bullying a child and this could mean he would never have switch sides. Last thing could we have a studio tour.
Snape is my favorite character but I agree the bullying of Neville was pretty hard to read, bc he unfairly targeted him I think even more then Harry. And then when Neville performed better when Snape wasn’t there rly shows how much Snape destroyed his confidence
I'm not really sure about my argument but I think Snape treat all the student the same as he treat Neville except Slytherin students. But Neville took it harder than every student therefore he is really scary of Snape that make him his bogart. I mean in school we have at least one teacher that we really scary of, as why his bogart not Bellatrix but Snape it was because he still a baby when his parents got tortured and probably he couldn't remember clearly.

Is it possible he was just trying to make Neville grow a pair for his own good? Especially if he knows there's a war coming with lots of evil people about to do much worse things.
Snape is undeniably my favorite HP character. He s not a bad person, he's a good man filled with bitterness and resentment. And yet, he still protected hogwarts and harry himself
BUT i know he gets very rude at times, especially when he puts the blame on Harry for what his father did to him, and on other gryffindor students
Ive been bullied too, but i d never take revenge on my bullies kids.
His treatment towards students makes him a bad, he is brave but bad
Yep, well to me, Snape is my favorite character and I really think Snape is the real anti-hero to be honest in the Harry Potter franchise.
he’s a terrible person that did some good things. that’s it
Brave doesn't mean you have to be good...
Snape is the perfect grey character and also possibly the most relatable character in the entire series .... His true and deep love for Lily made him risk so much that he basically had to become a highly skilled wizard almost on par with the levels of Dumbledore and Voldemort .... yet he was not above petty human emotions such as jealousy and hatred ..... His conflicting treatments of Harry reflects that as Harry reminded him of both his love for Lily and his hatred for James at the same time ..... Such a great character played superbly by the great Alan Rickman .... For us Potterheads, Alan Rickman will "Always" be Severus Snape .....
My take on Snape is that he was on the good side, did many major good things, but a terrible person in general. I don’t see him as an _evil_ person, but I definitely don’t see him as a good person either.

What ya’ll say, you can’t deny that his backstory is one of the most heartbreaking yet heartwarming in this series’s.
A guy is sad that his crush doesn't want to be with him, because he hangs out with people who discriminate her. He later calls her a racial slur and joins a group that actively wants her dead. Only changes sides when, because of his actions, she is put on a personal kill list of his leader.
Truly heartwarming.
@@mibo250401 apart from being his crush, she was his only friend remember, and he had a lot of backstory apart from that shit lmao
I agree but there was so much more character who had really really heartbreaking back stories but they still manage not to be horrible people, like Minerva McGonagall, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Luna who's mother died in front of her (AND HARRY POTTER WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE IS HEARTBREAKING FOR GOD'S SAKE)
@@notshubhransh It’s true about Lily being his best friend.
But everything else about his backstory was done better with other characters and so disqualifies (for me) from being “the most heartwarming and heartbreaking”.
You want a character that didn’t have a great home and managed not to be a terrible human being, you’ve got Harry and Neville (Grandma Longbottom was a badass but she played a big role in Neville’s insecurities) and even another Slytherin, Regulus Black.
You want a character that was bullied throughout school and managed not to be a terrible human being? Again, Neville and Harry.
I’m not invalidating his backstory, but those elements he shares with others were done better, and his individual (that I listed) are not great.

@@adyashamohanty5753 see. I thought so.
But if Snape didn´t tell the Order that Harry is in the Department of Mysteries, Harry and his friends would probably be dead. I can´t see why Snape should be responsible for Sirius´s death because if Snape didn´t tell the Order, most likely some of the children would die. Yes, he told Sirius that he is a coward, but it was nothing important because Sirius insulted Snape every time (calling him Snivellus for example) just like Snape insulted Sirius. They just hated each other and in my opinion, Snape had a bigger reason to hate Sirius for bullying him at school, but Snape definitely didn´t want anyone to die, neither Sirius, and he wasn´t responsible for his death.
as a person who likes snape's character (he is my second fav hp character), i highly disagree because if snape had gotten over their horrible past and if he never insulted sirius for staying in one place knowing sirius hated that (it is basically guilt tripping too), maybe sirius wouldnt have gone to the department of mysteries and even tho I am not defending sirius's bullying, it was when he was a child, and we also know that sirius (And james) stopped bullying and became better... i do believe that snape wouldnt have thought his words would have this much of an effect but it unfortunately did
@@kanishkar1089 I think Sirius would have gone to the Department of Mysteries anyway, because he would want to save Harry... just my opinion
In the first place, Dumbledore should have told Harry where Voldemort was going to lure him to avoid the whole thing.
Harry certainly blamed him for it, but this was a case of projection on his part. Harry already hated Snape anyway, the alternative was blaming Dumbledore or himself and it was easier to rationalise his existing hatred by blaming him for Sirius's death as well.
I’m now rereading HP for the third time. To me the book version of Snape I have neutral feelings for because while the truth of his actions were revealed and redeemed, there were things that were unnecessary that he did that’s to me is almost straight up unforgivable. Yes I agree, he’s better than Umbridge HANDS DOWN. I don’t hate him but not the biggest fan of him. However, when I was Alan Rickman play him, I actually enjoy and care for Snape to better understand his character. Tbh Snape is both bad and good and constantly fights both sides of himself
It also helps that movie Snape is a better person.
This can be seen where he tries to protect the kids from Werewolf Lupin.
Movie Snape is a significantly better person than book Snape.

Imo Sirius literally almost killing snape by sending him to a werewolf lupin is worse than what snape did to Sirius leading up to his death as the intentions were totally different. Sirius never even apologized to snape as he couldn’t have cared less whether he survived or didn’t. I can understand why snape continued his hatred for Sirius into adulthood, he almost lost his life because of him
exactly, the fact than ppl forget about snape's past which lead him to become the bad person. that past also included james and sirius bullying him. not everyone overcomes their past without having scars and traces of that.
@@vidushisharma4875 and on top of that, in the books James dies at a very young age of 21. In the movies James, lily, and snape look MUCH older than they would be in the books. He's complicated and that's what makes him a good character. I wouldn't enjoy being around him if he were a real person and I'd call him out on a lot of things. If HE had to choose, he wouldn't have been a teacher. That was Dumbledore.
He made mistakes and was willing to make amends. That's his greatest attribute. His worst attribute was that he was petty. Getting on Neville is one thing, but how he treated Harry was even worse. The boy is INNOCENT and didn't deserve any of the poor behavior from Snape.
I was sad though that we never got to know Harry's parents, James especially, as well.
Here's what I think-
I used to hate Snape, with a burning passion. I hated the way he was so biased with the students- especially with Harry and Neville. I thought it was creepy how he loved Lily that long, even after she got married to James. After watching this though- I'm not sure. The way he was a spy for Dumbledore was amazing- it would take a very skilled wizard to do that- which he was. However, the way you said he was driven by his love for his childhood friend- who is *dead*- rubbed off in the wrong way or me. I feel very undecided at the moment. I used to just hate him, and that was that, but I suppose you really do have to look at both sides. I will call myself a neutral Snape person for the moment.
I'm confused that you think the moment people die you stop loving them. Did you never lose someone in you life? I mean good for you but that is just not how feelings work.

They bullied him because he was a creep who was obsessed with the dark arts and hung out with death eaters. I would bully someone too if they were a nazi. Not to mention he was the one who started it all by insulting James for wanting to be in Gryffindor.
@@JohnCena-ew1mf No, it was james who said he would better return instead of being put in Slytherin or something along those lines when he heard snape telling lily that he would like her to be in Slytherin too in the train. James started it all first
@@irai_nesanOfThamizhOrigin That wasn't a personal insult unlike Snape who said James would rather be brawny then brainey, he basically called him stupid. So no, Snape started it.
@@JohnCena-ew1mf Again, no. Snape didn't said james rather be brawny than brainy. He said Gryffindor had brawns while Slytherin had brains (of course that isn't totally true as Ravenclaw excels in brains than any other house) so that isn't a personal insult either. Also I don't know how james didn't started it first while he was the one to interrupt the conversation snape and lily were having without being invited and talk down on the house snape was saying he would like to be in
Still doesn't justify his actions. He probably knew sirius was innocent but still kept silent about it and instead he was going to send him to dementors.
Excellent video, it proves that shape was grey and that he wasn’t obsessed with lily in a bad way.

So technically Snape sent Sirius to his death was kinda a revenge. When they were in their school days, Sirius sent Snape to his death at the Shrieking shack (to get killed by fully transformed werewolf, that is Lupin) which James later saves him.
I don’t think he anticipated Sirius getting himself killed, to be fair.
@@MrSean24601 nor did Sirius!
Siruis was a stupid kid who probably figured Snape wouldn't even make it past the whomping willow. Snape was an adult man who let a comrade die because of ancient history from high school.
As Dumbledore said Sirius should not have taken the mocking seriously.

Besides these are fully grown adults, they all signed up to fight, and knew the risks. He didn’t force any of them to go. It’s not like he lured any of them into a trap. He didn’t know anymore than they did what was going to happen.
Frankly Harry is more responsible for what happened to Sirius. If he had never gone to the department of mysteries in the first place then nobody would have needed to come and rescue him.

Supposedly, Dumbledore did it because some lessons need to be learned the hard way, like dealing with a bad teacher. It also probably made Snape's role as a Deatheater--which was vital to the war effort--that much more believable, but I agree Snape took it way too far, especially rubbing Sirius and James' past detentions in Harry's face when Harry was more than likely still mourning Sirius. I understand he was upset that Harry almost killed Draco, but he should have told Harry the truth about the book and told him to never use Sectumsempra again, maybe even forced Harry to destroy the book and tell the truth to Slughorn, anything but psychological abuse.
I'm on Chapter 14 of The Goblet of Fire, and Snape just made Neville butcher dozens of boxes full of live horned toads, so Hermione has to teach Neville a scrubbing spell to get the guts out from under his fingernails. Fuck that shit.

1:00 Snape was cruel to Neville for this reason: if Voldemort had chosen to go after Neville rather than Harry, Lily would still be alive. To Snape, Neville was a living reminder and representation of his guilt from revealing the prophecy to Voldemort and the potential alternative for what could've happened, and as a result, from Snape's point of view, Neville embodied all of this and that made him detest and bully him.
Thats not a good justification at all, Snape was the one who told Voldemort about the prophecy first of all and none of that was Neville's fault. If that is true Snape is a horrid person who deserved to die.
@@JohnCena-ew1mf Yeah I know. When Snape soon heard about Neville's boggart he treated him even worse than he usually did
Snape said, "Life isn't fair." Right, Snape, right. And Harry and Neville know absolutely NOTHING about life being unfair, now would they? They both lost their parents, because of Voldemort, and have been relentlessly bullied and taunted not just by you, Snape, but also your little band of sniveling snakes! Harry had to live with people who cared NOTHING about him, and Neville's parents didn't even know anymore who their own son was!
So, yeah, Snape. These two boys know nothing about life being unfair. I rest my case.
There’s a theory that snape hated Neville because if Neville had being the chosen one, lily wouldn’t have died.
And Snape would've probably remained a Death Eater
It was because of Snape that Voldemort even learned of the prophecy so if thats true he's a huge hypocrite.

Snape is more complex than that, i don't think the terms "good" or "bad" are enough to describe him. His love for Lily (which verges on creepy obsession) was really the only reason he decided to defect from the Death eaters.

If we consider what happened to Snape's childhood, I don't think we can call him bad. Because the big trams, the indifference and lovelessness of his family, the James gang who constantly taunts him when he was 4-1. If all this happened to me, I don't think I would be much different from Snape. We can't call Snape too good because he did too much unnecessary harm to Nevıl and Hermione. All were childish. He only had to take his grudge against the Marauders from them. But if we look at the rest, it would be better to say that he is a good person who has lost the first and only love he had in his life (but always kept him like the first day) and made very wrong decisions in order to feel confident.
He is a complicated, but I think she really loved Lily and we know what Snape told Lily at the memory of 7th book about his father "He doesn't like anything." He didn't really see love from him but being a agent takes a lot of guts and I think he is good, even his dark arts love.
