Great video. Help a lot. I had to remove fan shroud on my 2003, a little different from video but no big deal. Nut was a pain, broke a strap wrench and had to borrow correct tool from pep boys. I bought part from you because of video. transaction was perfect and no issues.

I changed the fan clutch on my 02 4.2L Trailblazer and now the fan clutch is stuck on. Sounds like a fan boat going down the road. P0496 code as well. Does the PCM need flashed or do I need to try an OEM clutch? Bought this one from autozone.

I want to know if you can just put a regular Fan Clutch on the 2002 Trailblazer 4.2 rather than going back with the Electric Fan Clutch???? Why is this electric when some of the Bigger SUV's with the Bigger Motors have Non Electric Fan Clutches. You do a great job fixing this and telling us how to fix it or do it, plus you give the size of almost all tools you use. Thanks. I. Stephen's
+Steve I Thanks for watching. It is recommended to put the OE style part as a replacement, unless proper modification and updates are made. This looks almost nothing like the 2004 4.2 Trailblazer I'm working on. Do I need to remove the boots attaching the bell to the water pump to use the clutch tool?
Some people say after you change the clutch fan you need to reset the hvac system is that true?? Do i need to reset anything after this install or no????
Is it possible to put one of these on wrong?? I bought a brand new one from online idk if i got a faulty one or what but the fan speed is really high?any suggestions?
That may work for that envoy but it's nothing like what I had to do to get the one on my 2002 trailblazer off. I had to remove the front brace over the radiator and remove the bolts to get the shroud pulled up so I could take the fan clutch out through the front of the shroud. On the plus side I didn't have to remove the serpentine belt.
+Chris Barrera Thanks for watching Chris. If you would like to leave us a review on Facebook it would be greatly appreciated. Here's a link to our page facebook.com/1AAuto/
Hello mike i noticed you replaced the fan along with the clutch. May i ask why you did this and is it necessary to replace the fan as well? Or was the fan itself damaged?
+JayzBeerz Thanks for watching. Yes, our fan clutch has a limited lifetime warranty as long as you own the vehicle, and in the event of failure during intended use if caused by a manufacturer defect. one more question what does shift solinod b performance code for? i did a resent tranny flush and changed 2 solinod on it and today at a light my truck vibrated 3 sec and turned off on me but turns on agian when u turn it on 🤔
You may want to check the fan when the vehicle is up to temperature to see if the high speed is kicking in. Hope this helps point you in a direction. 1aauto.com

Changed out fan clutch on 03 Trailblazer today....have been reading that the PCM needs to be reflashed by the dealer. Do you really have to do this or can you just clear the codes with an OBD scanner and then remove the negative battery cable to restart the PCM. What good does flashing do, after you change the fan clutch.
+Jackie Waggoner Thank you for checking us out. You may attempt and clear out the codes with the OBD scanner, but in some cases it is true that the dealership specific software must be used for this reflash. 1aauto.com
+Nestor Rios Thanks for watching! The process Mike shows in the video is really the best way to do it and should release any fan clutch nut. If you continue to have issues you may want to take your vehicle to a reputable garage so they can try and get the part swapped out! 1aauto.com

i changed my fan clutch and water pump and when i put everything thing back together my heat blows out cold air and my car is over heating.. any ideas what could be the problem?
+LeMark Wash When the vehicle is cold, you may want to check the level of the antifreeze to see if it needs to be topped off. There could be an air pocket in the system. Hope this helps you out

Does this method(not removing fan shroud) work for the 4.2 as well? Getting ready to do my fan clutch and water pump this weekend.
Good way to bust up yer radiator. Pull the shroud out w the fan clutch. Way easier.
Thanks 1A Auto your subjections was gratly apreciated and I was able to fix he Fan clutch on my 02 trailblazer

Is there a reason the shroud wasnt removed? I assume it would've allowed a lil more work space
In this video, it appears you replaced the fan as well as the fan clutch. Just curious as to why replace the fan? Thanks for the video!
Probably protocol due to brittle plastic
Is it possible to put one of these on wrong?? I bought a brand new one from online idk if i got a faulty one or what but the fan speed is really high?any suggestions?

Hello mike i noticed you replaced the fan along with the clutch. May i ask why you did this and is it necessary to replace the fan as well? Or was the fan itself damaged?
+J. J. Thanks for your question! If you fan is still in good shape you will be able to re-use it. Thanks!! 1AAuto
I seen the fan clutch and water pump replacement sold together as a unit. Are you suppose to replace both at the same time?
+Travis Irving You do not need to replace both at once unless it is needed.
Can someone tell me how long the process actually takes? Also was this video done on a straight 6 or v8
Ok white fan out...black fan in...putting belt back on, back to white fan....good video just picking on ya, great price on parts!!!
dose this method work with the 4.2L engine or just the 5.7?
Very helpful, but my 2002 is different from the 2003
trying this this weekend thank you great video does this fan clutch have a lifetime warranty?

My 08 envoy fan clutch does not have that wire harness connected to it. So some models not have ?
one more question what does shift solinod b performance code for? i did a resent tranny flush and changed 2 solinod on it and today at a light my truck vibrated 3 sec and turned off on me but turns on agian when u turn it on 🤔
Great video. Question, why not just zip the fan mounting bolts out with an impact and remove the assembly whole?
You can't. The fan trout is one piece.
Shroud
I did everything in this video . worked great . now I'm getting a check engine fault code saying that the high speed fan. what could be wrong
You may want to check the fan when the vehicle is up to temperature to see if the high speed is kicking in. Hope this helps point you in a direction. 1aauto.com

How am I supposed to hold the pulley onto the water pump to use the fan clutch tool is I need to take all the bolts out just to use the tool?

If I installed the same fan clutch as before (when a dealership flash was done) would I have to do it again?
What do you recommend if there’s too much resistance on the fan clutch nut? I can’t seem to be able to loosen it

What is the clutch connected to? The water pump?
I replaced my clutch, but I still got a p0526 code. I don't know what else to do, I've checked so many things. I have an 04 envoy 4.2l
Try getting a diagnosis from a local mechanic. Thanks for watching our video! +The Upscale

If the car is getting up to temp but the fan never kicks in is the fan clutch
What actually size is the adjustable wrench
So anybody else notice the color change to the fan once he started to put the belt back on
+Ugandan Army Thanks for the feedback!
What if threads are stripped
I would just pull the shroud off with it ,instead of fighting everything
p1481 code btw
Way less complicated than procedure in GM Service Manual.
Didnt say anything about removing the top radiator hose either.
