learned a lot. currently dealing with my 1997 dodge b3500 van, purchased it as a work van. overheating problem of course, replace the thermostat, thermostat house both radiator hose, the radiator, coolant temp sensor, did a coolant flush and still over heating. didnt think of the fan clutch but i will be replacing tomorrow
Just serviced my fan clutch by adding some silicone oil. I noticed a slight drop of engine temperature when the car accelerates and idle in traffic stops. The fan sure spins alot faster than before.
Just replace my radiator and fan clutch and thermostat. Had a really hot day and my vehicle just starting to overheat. Water was coming out of the overflow. To place the parts and it was fine after that.

Okay, late to the game but the problem you mentioned @6:08 just started happening to me. Over the past week this has been happening more and more. I have a 2007 Chevy Colorado and this happens every time I step on the gas, it doesn't matter what temp the motor is. So here's my question: If there's no "wobble" in the fan blade and it doesn't spin freely when turned by hand, can it still be a bad clutch?
Great video. I've got a 5.7 that won't reach operating temp. It's winter in the mountains. The truck still blows hot air but won't fully get to temp. I've replaced the t-stat and ECT sensor. Tomorrow I'll dive into the fan clutch. Hopefully that is the issue. Thank you for the in-depth video.
I just replaced my water pump along with the fan and fan clutch. Before I swapped them it was not sounding like a helicopter after I changed everything to new it started sounding like a helicopter after I hit high speed the fan noise goes away but once I’m back in town/city I can hear the fan again any idea why? Thanks In advance.
I replaced my water pump the gaskets and thermostat as well as the heater hose connectors because it was leaking coolant and it would over heat, but my truck no longer leaks coolant but over heats if I run the ac and I’m idling in a drive thru or idling for more than 35-40 min will not if I’m driving. I really hope a fan clutch will because I have to rev it up to cool down.
Another feature about fan clutches is that some are reverse and you need to get the correct one for your vehicle as I recently learned when I bought the wrong one for my 2001 dodge ram. The new one spun on like crazy when the engine was shut down; it should stop with the engine on shutdown. I had to go back to the old one which turned out to be working correctly ...stopping with the engine shut down
Hi I recently replaced my water pump, couple hoses and the fan clutch, cleaned the fan blades off. Every morning on a cold start the fan clutch stays engaged. Even if I let it sit for about 4 minutes, the vehicle temperature has not moved much and when I drive off it is still engaged. Until I reach a certain RPM then it will disengage. We had a really cold day and it still did the same thing, it was engaged as soon as I started the vehicle. Even if the vehicle sits for about 5 minutes it is still engaged and still engaged as I drive off, but then once I reach a certain RPM it will disengage and the vehicle is only maybe 120° on the thermostat, I replace the thermostat as well but it's also running 10° colder than what it usually does, instead of 195 it only runs about 175 on really cold days, maybe 185 and it is supposed to be 195° thermostat. It was a Murray fan clutch and I think it is bad, I don't think that it should stay engaged especially when it's 26° out, and the vehicle is not even warm or heated up, what is your opinion

My ford econovan 94 is overheating „Slightly“ only up the hill or on the highway. Changed the thermostat and did a radiator flush. Someone was giving me the Tipp to change the fan clutch. But in every video ppl say that it would then overheat in traffic and stop and go. My car does not do that. Does that sound more like a hunker up radiator?
Thanks for the video mate. I have pajero 97. Got heating problem twice. First time did raditor servicing. Thought it solved but another over heating occured. Found water jacket freeze plug blew up leaking all the coolant. My mechanic was telling the fan clutch has problem too, its been connected directly without the clutch. Thats how i landed here. So as per your video the fan is running 30-60 percent less speed than the pulley since it was connected directly without pulley right? Also will it have effect on AC as well?
Would a bad fan clutch on a 2005 Dodge Dakota SLT 4.7.L cause the engine to run hot driving up hill for extended periods until it gets back to level ground ? . My truck only begins climbing in temp from 49% on the temp gauge to approx 80% when driving up hill. But when I get to level surface the engine temp goes back down to the mid range on the temp gauge ...any input would be greatly appreciated 👍

Hi. I got a new fan clutch for my motor I put in my truck . can't find the right fan blade for it can you help. The fan clutch is 2705, and I need a 17" blade to bolt to it
Hi Lynn I just put a fan clutch on a 60 motor in a box van I don't know what you would call it but it's a box van and I put a new fan clutch on a new fan and a new thermostat problem with the temperature going up to say 250 no signs of overheating through the water system I don't know what's wrong could you give me some advice
So my fan clutch spins as soon as i start the truck, and it takes about 5 seconds to stop fully. Does that mean the clutch is done? Does that mean its cooked? Will spin freely
i currently have no fan clutch on my cuda's 340. If i install one, will this bring my fan closer to the radiator and set deeper into the shroud? are we talking an inch or two if so? TIA

Very likely.
Maybe your radiator and condenser coil is dirty. You should wash it your radiator and condenser once in a while.
