When the Patriot Act was passed, it seemed strange to me that they wrote such a huge bill in a week's time & some how all of Congress "read it" and they were so proud to stand on the steps and have a press moment to show unity. Gut told you something wasn't right.

The country is eventually going to collapse. The issue in this country is not political parties but of the morality of its people. I was too young to be aware of the Patriot Act. When I did become aware of it, I initially supported it. This wasn't because of "nothing to hide, nothing to be guilty of", but because of ever evolving technology and I think requires some sort of surveillance. However...to use it for political purposes and turn everything your political adversary says, does, or even thinks into a red flag...yeah I'd say it's time to remove the law. That and the TSA, they need to go too.

I have voted Republican since 1994 but I was very leery of the Patriot Act. Sooner or later it seemed pretty likely that the Department of Homeless Security would turn against Americans.
My dad said at the time, he'd rather be somewhat unsafe than setting up endless institutions that propose to protect our safety. He's prob saying from beyond...I told ya so.

I think most of us on the right were terribly naive, to think the Patriot Act would ever end, and it wouldn't be used for political purposes. We were wrong, and we're paying the price now.
