At my Catholic boarding school in Belgium (my family weren't Catholic), we always had a chocolate bar wrapped in bread for breakfast on 6th December and a small chocolate St Nicholas in the evening, with a hot chocolate drink. I've never forgotten it - slowly and surely, I inched closer to the RCC and finally converted at the age of 40. Bringing up my own children as Catholics was one of my biggest joys.

I'm celebrating the feast of Saint Nicholas with my college friends. I'm bringing them candy canes, mandarins, and chocolate coins and placing them on their desks!

😊 I love all these ideas. I don’t have anyone to do this with but I can do them anyways. Giving something up is a great. Praying. I do do a Nativity scene. I have my moms nativity.🥰 it makes me feel so much love that I have it and I feel them around me and feel how much love they had for their relationship with God. My mother’s devotion was so amazing, well both. So I will incorporate some of these thank you so much. 🙏🏻👏🏻♥️😊 Have a blessed day.

I have been doing the advent wreath with my family since I was a baby, I still say the prayers from that old book with my family. We also do the Jessie Tree.

I have been able to streamline the Advent wreath with the Jesse Tree. I got a beautiful pewter (I think.) Advent Wreath with the Jesse Tree symbols engraved on it. However, I can not find the corresponding scripture reading to go with it! So I have to hunt that up. We also have a wooden Advent calendar where each box has a nativity figure in it. Baby Jesus is in the 24th box of course! I think I want to read Luke as my special devotion. That’s a great idea. We always have chocolates in our shoes for St Nick and we always eat Mexican on Dec. 12th. Very nice video! Thank you for it.

Thank you Heather! I just bought the Jesse tree book by Dean Meador Lambert (you suggested in your older video), is this good or is this the one that’s not truly Catholic? Thanks Heather. This is our first year doing the Jesse Tree, so I wasn’t sure. ❤
So YES! We loved that book! I used it for 5 years and you will love it! There are a couple very small things that aren't Catholic and we didn't even really catch it for the first couple years but still amazing!

Any more suggestions on what to give up during Advent?
Last year I waited to open the Christmas cards that I received until Christmas Day.
Each time I would get one I’d set it aside and be reminded of “waiting” for the good tidings inside.
Plus it was so nice to read everyone’s warm wishes on Christmas Day.
