His behaviors, choices and lies were indefensible. The kennel video was Paul, holding his father accountable for the unforgivable betrayal of murdering his mother and himself, by speaking from the grave. Literally, he outed his father for the soul less liar he is. And, after knowing he was lying, watching his questioning in the car after the murders said it all. This guy was willing to throw anyone and everyone under the bus, including his own wife and son, to save his own skin. That evidence, standing alone, was what the defense could not explain away. Everyone saw the real Alex, who is as cold and heartless as they come.

No doubt Paul's video was the smokin gun. Without it, there's a good chance he walks. Where I think the defense failed miserably was their two shooter theory and their assertion that the use of two guns was not likely for a single person. They failed to recognize where they were, hog country. Here, a guy utilizing two long guns is normal! There were at least 5 or 6 men on the jury. Most if not all probably hunted and had gun experience. This leads to the 2nd issue with their theory. Their gun and forensics expert were from another planet I think. Anyone who's familiar with guns, shotguns in particular, knows both their claims of Paul being shot in the back of his head was hogwash! They knew how stupid and ludicrous these claims were. It's impossible for blowback, to send a pellet back the way in came at zuch a high velocity to embed it in wood and dent metal. Blowback gets its energy from the kinetic energy of the pellets and the expanding gas. Most of this engery is directed outward, not back. It's impossible for pellets to fly back as these two "experts" claim. This is just physically not possible. The men on that jury knew enough about guns to know this was just a defense tactic to try to dirty up the waters. In other words, they had nothing credible to go buy so they decided to toss any and everything into the mix. These two geniuses lost any and all credibility when they made these absurd claims. These men knew that and likely took offense to it. At minimum, they knew they were snake oil salesmen pedaling their goods. Essentially these two were saying, "Jury, you're a bunch of idiots and we know we can make you believe anything!" These men didn't buy it. They knew it was a ruse. They came in their fancy suits and titles, and figured they would outsmart some dumb country hillbillies, but they were wrong. It was they who were the dumb ones. The jury saw right through these magicians' tricks and they didn't buy it. Just because they live a different lifestyle doesn't make them stupid. The defense was banking on this but the jury showed them. Thank god these jurors saw through the fog. I knew they would. I had faith in their common sense and the prosecution did too. Thank you for your service jurors!

Thank goodness there are still objective and critical thinkers out there, 12 of which happened to be sitting on that jury. May Maggie and Paul finally rest in peace knowing justice has been served. The problem with juries is the average American doesn't speak Latin lawyer language and most people can't compartmentalize events from their emotions which is the only way to be unbiased. I think what stood out the most to the jury was when AM took the stand and tried to con them while being confrontational with Waters, pretending to be humble.

Just discovered this channel - such reasonable and calm overviews and considerations about this case. Wonderful to hear and very concise points.
I just imagined a hung jury in case the jury wanted to show discontentment about the investigation and lack of (more) evidence... after so many weeks of repetition and sometimes very boring days, they had their minds composed at the end. Good job!
I'm not in the US and it was fascinating to watch the culture of that area so evidently - maybe it's just my perception but no one there is a good actor and everyone is their true self? Transparent people, that talk in their manner and not fake anything. They all seem to exude their real selves - even Alex, who would look angry when the damning evidence was being discussed and relaxed when doubts were raised. At verdict he did seem... resigned. He didn't try to act sad or confused, I felt it as "well, this is it".
Defense closing was weird - discombobulated, dragging on, even a bit confusing. Then prosecution came and they did a GREAT job into packing the whole case in a neat pretty and organised package for the jury. To me, that would've solved any doubts a juror could be hanging on to. And the random SCREAMS were very weird (and funny) but again, it seemed like no one tried to be anything other than themselves. Got to learn a lot about S. Carolina and their people (at least in that area) seem to be approachable.
I don't know how Buster stands, if he has deep doubts or was in denial about the Dad... I hope he finds peace and the truth. I really hope he sees it. After the members of my family I loved the most, I know how it goes... you'll want to hang on someone that still maintains that "family" feeling, even if they're just an awful person. I had to let go completely and realise the one still here was not worth it... And that took a LOT of time and effort. To feel alone in the world... not easy at all. I hope he chooses HIS right path, forgetting his last name and doing HIS very own thing. It's heartbreaking.
Wonderful video - much love from far away!
