When I attended Cosmetology school, one of my instructors taught us that trick using a #2 pencil. It really does work. I also have a tip on how to see if a lip color may look good on you. Instead of swatching the color on the back of your hand, swatch the color on your fingertip and then hold it in front of your lips. The color and texture on your fingertip more closely resembles your lip than the back of your hand. Another trick is for setting your face without using too much powder. You dip your fluffy brush into a loose setting powder. Then tap the bottom of your brush handle so the powder gets down into the bristles. And then set your face. Because your powder is distributed evenly into your brush, you don't have to keep dipping it back into the powder.

After I apply all my makeup. I take my moisturizer and dollop some down my neck to blend the foundation seamlessly so there is no transition of colors from face to neck area. I have never seen anyone mention this tip before so thought I would share that with you.

Hi Zabrena a tip for applying mascara to the bottom lashes is to put a cotton bud/q tip under them whilst applying - stops the mascara getting on the under eye during application (you can also use a tissue, but the cotton bud holds them further away). Best wishes.

As a makeup artist, all of these tips are something I use constantly in my arsenal. When I do photo makeup, wedding makeup, or my own! These tips are often found from the artists that need their makeup to LAST. The most... unconventional things, almost always make makeup look great, last longer, and feel quality on your face. I love those tips

Best tip I learned from the MUA who did my wedding makeup was to warm the lash curler before using with a quick blast of warm air from a hair drier. This is the only way my lashes will hold a curl.

One thing I've done for a long time is, if there's an area of eyeshadow that just won't blend, or looks choppy, dip an eyeshadow brush in setting powder and apply back and forth over the patchy area. Even if I'm wanting a quick eye look and don't want to blend for ages, I'll apply the shadow , quickly blend, then use the setting powder. It's amazing what a difference it makes, especially if you feel the eyeshadow look isn't going as good as you'd want

Tip: If you find that your base makeup looks cakey, try blotting your foundation with one ply of Kleenex before applying powder (think about putting flour on a wet countertop - if you dry it off a little the flour sits nicely on top. Same works with makeup).

As I've gotten older, and my eye bags have bags that have bags that have wrinkles, I have gone back to lipstick type cream concealer, even with my oily skin, and in a shade even a half tone darker than my face. The pale shades just cast more shadows in the wrinkles.

Ha! I’ve been using a no 2 pencil for years for my brows. It’s the perfect color if you’re going gray too. I started one day when I got to work and realized I forgot to do my brows that morning. I didn’t have a brow pencil with me. I saw a pencil in my desk cup, grabbed it and ran to the bathroom. I was amazed at how great it looked, especially with my brow color.

Zabrena, please keep it coming with more of these makeup tips from makeup artists. It helps a lot!

  • @ts4686
    @ts4686 3 года назад +1

    Great tips Zabrena! 🥰
    Tip 1:
I always use the dab setting spray beneath my eyes, which you showed, but slightly different for us very dark circles people
I dap setting spray after corrector and before concealer. Then when I'm finished I use mac fix + and a all over face setting spray (combo of dewy and matte) 🥰
    Have a great week! 😊
    Tip 2:
I have struggled with applying lashes for forever! The inner corner NEVER would stick, especially on my right eye for some reason, no matter what I did or tried. Urgh 😒
but now instead of applying glue to the lash, I rather apply the glue to my eyelid, just above my lash line. It works like a charm! The lash stick immediately and secured all the way. Nearly too well, so be precise when you apply the lash. I super much recommend this method for people who struggle with applying lashes! 😊
    Tip 3:
To get fuller looking lips, I apply concealer to the outer corners of my mouth. Set with light dusting of powder. Then line your lips further in from the corners, but still line the top and bottom following the lip line (or overdraw if you prefer). Line it a diffused liner or lipstick, and always use a lighter shade in the middle/inner lips, and then a good gloss for extra plump.
This will make your lips appear bigger, because you're kinda shortening the width, thus giving the illusion of bigger juicier lips 💋 😊
    Tip 4:
When applying highlighter, apply a little diffused line along the top of your eyebrows for a super healthy youthful dewey look. Start from the inner brow, and end around the arch.
Sometimes of you apply highlighter to your forehead it can just look like oil shine. But just a little diffused line above your eyebrow will give some life back. Try it! 😊

I like to use setting spray as my primer. Let it dry them apply a very light dusting of translucent powder before foundation. It really helps to keep oily skin from getting shiny. Also, having a light coating of setting spray on your eyelashes really helps in keeping my lashes curled and gives mascara something to adhere to for more volume and length.

I learned this from one of my makeup professors and it is hands down my favourite trick, if you can train your brain. When putting on your mascara, start with the lower lashes (as long as you are planning on it for your look.) Then coat the upper lashes. Doing it in this order lessens the chance of wet mascara getting on your lids.

I have very blonde eyelashes, and find the wiggle method never really worked to coat my lashes. I find that the rolling method works better, because it does 3 things at the same time: coats the lashes with more product, separates the lashes, and curls them. Most of the time when people are putting on mascara, they are using one section of the wand, switch eyes and use one section if the wand. If you put the wand at the base of the lashes, and turn it as you pull up, it uses 1/4 to 1/2 of the wand, so more product is on the lashes, and the bristles comb through at the same time (most wands have bristles that are meant to comb through that way). Game changer! It makes my puny lashes look longer and fuller, and helps hold a curl all day. I also never put mascara on the back of my lashes, because I once saw a makeup artist say it weighs down the lashes and causes them to lose curl throughout the day. Also, if you are having trouble with mascara transfer in application, find a mirror and put below your eyes when applying, so you are looking down. Most people stand in front of a mirror and tilt their head, but that automatically puts your lashes close to your lids. Tilt your head down, look down into a mirror, and you'll find it keeps your lashes down and away from the lids.

Thank you so much. Surprisingly, I’ve gotten out of the habit of wearing makeup every day, but I will definitely use these tips from now on 🥰

Great vid! One of my tricks (I'm sure I'm not the first to do it) is to use a felt tip liquid eyeliner (waterproof) for my upper waterline. I hold it like I would a mascara wand and use the length of the felt tip to get right to the waterline without having to pull my lid up. And then I try not to blink all the way til it dries haha

Zabrena I absolutely love your tips, and definitely will try them. I’ve adopted a previous tip (using a little powder on top of primer and then putting on makeup), and I love it! Such a great tip!

To get to the base of my lashes I found using a lash fan brush is best. After trying a few of them I would highly recommend morphe's m131. It is also great for highlighting under the brow.

My bff since 1st grade used anything stiff like the magazine inserts when applying mascara. Same way as you did. I love these tips! I use my makeup sponge to press in setting spray.

The first thing I thought of when you started with the tip to mix matte/hydrating primers, I have now been doing that with foundations. I use a longwearing formula on my forehead and nose, and a matching color foundation in a more hydrating formula on my cheecks and elsewhere. (I use Lancome Teint Idole and Loreal's True Match.) It works great. To keep things less bulky, I put each foundation in an empty contact lens case, so I can dab on some of each easily. After drying, I use a big fluffy brush to buff it all together
