I swear why can't we have this kind of stuff now it is amazing and it kept my imagination alive even now. If I ever have kids I am showing them this kind of stuff because its so pure and may even help keep their imagination alive.

This mermaid show was extremely beautiful and moving. The mermaids responded with much elegance and grace with their surroundings, they were mermaids probably in another life. When faerie tales are believable it's because it exists in your soul. The music of ancient traditions billions of planets away in grand scale oceans. It's a celebration of wonder and love for the deep sea and grace of the waters of what dreams is known to the water gods or goddesses.I love this film, beautiful.Hard not to.

What people so used to special effects dont know is that even water is hard to replicate. So for being made in the 80s without or very little green screen, this is very good! I always felt like I was underwater with the mermaids during the ocean scenes! And I'm 23 so I'm hardly "old". I grew up on FTT!!

This brilliant production was beautifully displayed in every detail. The women look like real mermaids and their voices are enchanting like they came from another planet with a deeper ocean. They were graceful, and responded with natural elegance and wonder. I liked all the characters in it. The purple witch was exotic and wildly eccentric. This story had outstanding detail and extra production care for a believable affect. Not many stories show mermaids with this passion and realness. luv it!!!

Yes, that's Shelley DuVall. she's also the creator of this show, waaay back in the 1980's. She's more like the hostess for the show, in this particular episode King Neptune is the narrator.

I can really identify with the character of Hans Christian Anderson's Little Mermaid because she's shy, sensative, and compassionate, but she is something of a misfit because she's in love with humans and I think I see a lot of myself in her

The mermaids of this movie were brilliant depicting the legends of the under waters, and they were beautiful and very sexy. Them with their long hair flowing wildly, and perching in the mystical blueness. There are dreams and memories on planets beyond our solar system, oceans far deeper and older with depth. There is much devotion in such heavens that have been around billions of centeries never dying. When someone shares it like this on screen, it leaves you in mystifying wonder. Loved it!!!

Even though I admit parts of it do look really fake, you have to keep in mind that for the time it was made, with very very limited special effects, it was good!
I mean, imagine this as a play in a library or school theater or something- you don't need special effects to get into the story there, right?
