I just have to say that I used to watch this series all the time when I was little. This was MY source for fairy tales, not Disney, and I love them! Minus this one I have to say, because I was seriously traumatized by 3:48 haha. I think I was about 6 and seeing somebody bleed from the eyes was too much XD
This whole thing is hilarious but when they showed them babies all nonchalant, I died. Then the way he casually said the witch died of hardening of the heart.. LMFAO
In fairy-tale land, everything is out of convenience of a happy ending. Good people/Love gets their happy ending and bad people/evil gets their just dessert. Supposedly the whole universe is fair and square.
I’ll bet that’s how Hansel and Gretel’s stepmother died, unless we’re supposed to believe that the stepmother and the gingerbread house witch were one and the same.
LMAO!! I LOVE the absurdness of this tale! :D A woman giving birth alone to a two healthy babies in the heat of a desert! A blind man searches for someone through forests and cities and whatever and stubles through a desert looking as healthy and strong as ever and happens to come across the one he searches for! But I especially love that magic tear! This is so over-killing it's hilarious! xD And the perfect ending with how the witch died! ;D
When I was kid my mother told me about that story but this film and that time we were just listening. Once upon a dain had daughter she have big hair when her mother come back to home she called her daughter by big hair then her mother climb, one day a prince saw her and remember that words as her mother says, it's big story i can't write but you can imagine
Don't blame FTT for this episode's weirdness or being unrealistic. All such related complaints here of are irrelevant because, as someone has already stated, many "of the 'unrealistic' complaints should be taken up with the Brothers Grimm and their 1812 version, on which this episode is based. The earlier versions differ in a number of ways, e.g.: 1634 - "Petrosinella", a Neapolitan fairy tale, in which a woman steals parsley and is caught by an ogress. She is then forced to promise her child to the ogress. When grown, Petrosinella is wooed by a prince, they successfully defeat the ogress while escaping to the city by Petrosinella's use of "magic arts". 1698 - "Persinette" Charlotte Rose La Force's adaptation of the Italian tale, changes quite a few things. - the husband pilfers the parsley, - the ogress is a fairy with an enchanted garden, - the tower isn't gloomy, but a beautiful home of many rooms filled with elegant furniture and rich clothes. A prince finds Persinette through her singing, discovers how to reach her, marries her in the tower and continues to sneak visits to her. And the rest, well, you should read it; this is a worthwhile rendering: fairytalearchive.wordpress.com/2017/05/03/persinette-1698-by-charlotte-rose-de-la-force/ . Enjoy!
I still have my VHS tape of this in my attic, but haven't watched it all the way through in more than 20 years. I can remember every scene so well though that I know exactly what every comment posted on here for this video refers to!
Twin sister: Hey , who is that guy ? Twin brother: I don't know . Twin sister: Who ever he is he doesn't look so good. Twin brother: Yes , mommy knows him?
Wow, I really liked this version...it was hilarious. XD Jeff Bridges was awesome as Punzy's dad, and a real sweet prince. The Witch was excellent; I loved her, and she was very pretty. So is Shelley as Rapunzel. =) (Interesting, though, how there's no real explanation for the name Rapunzel in Tangled...) Anyway, this ep is pretty faithful to the earliest versions of the tale, so most of the "unrealistic" complaints should be taken up with the Brothers Grimm...xD
I remember seeing the eye bleeding part on tv when I was 5 and being traumatized. I never thought it was blood though. I thought his eyes melted and that orange liquid was eye-goo.
This was a nice little story I always loved Rapunzel. Especially her golden hair I'm glad they are happy ever after.and the prince played by Jeff was sexy.
You can read my comments now as i watching this movie clip i miss my childhood because that time it's not in our mind it is a film but our grandmother and mother just tells the story like that. Thanks
The prince came to visit her at night over the course of several weeks to brig her the skeins of silk she used to weave into a ladder... You gotta listen to the narrator in the beginning of the last part for the story to make sense.
Hmmmm anyway thank you. Tree in the middle of dessert? The blood? And she got pregnant and give birth in the middle of that dessert without water, food? Disguisting yeah? Hmmmmmm the story are different too.
2:34 No Rapunzel you have to stay here this is you're home now and you're not safe with me anymore, you're precious Prince is trying to get you and live with you and of course I'm still gonna get rid of him when I get back to the tower so goodbye Wa Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.
In fairy-tale land, everything is out of convenience of a happy ending. Good people/Love gets their happy ending. If it's a grim fairy-tale or how do we call it "real life" then the price would probably died when his head smash that log and all that blood came out of his eyes. Rapunzel would probably die in the desert. The End. Evil wins.
You know, as crappy as this was, I actually teared up a bit. :/ Maybe I just want a prince who could magically find me in the middle of a random desert whilst blind.
The best part about that video is that the Rapunzel tells prince to lie his head on her lap 😘😘😘and kisses him when he gets to see its really romantic 💑💑💑💑
What are the odds for the bird to repeat those specific words? Any of them not to mention all. Or did she silently cast some spell on it so that it would say whatever it knows? She did that witchy hand gesture thingy in front of the bird. :P

Mikae Dillon OMG ikr, back then when I was little I didn’t know this was the true story
I'll never forget that blood streaming out his eyes. One of the scariest scenes from my childhood. It's pretty comical now though.

hahaha... that bird is a snitch, and that blood!! it's flowing
That's one strong grandma there climbing up like that
Is the backgrounds.. Paintings?
And what on earth is it with the effects? XD
ALRIGHT!!
all we need is rapunzal to cry and we can cure all the blind!!!
One eye, I think he's still blind on the other eye. No tears fell on it.
blinded - poor him , in another version he was turned into a bird and her kiss turned him back lol
Finally a true adaptation to the story , I don't care about those funny comments.
And her friend, Teri Garr from the first Faerie Tale Theatre episode, The Tale of the Frog Prince was in Mr. Mom.
I dont get it. How did repuzel get pregnant just by kissing the prince, thats just so crazy.
+Nicole Shivers Um, I think other *things* were going on during his nighttime visits. Lol
they did not just kiss they did something else
Nicole Shivers oh they Netflix and chill but they didn’t say it
Oh and when she got pregnant she was 14 go and search if you don’t believe me
I used to be so scared when his eyes started bleeding!
OMFG Is that JEFF BRIDGES!!!! :O
1983 effects weren't so good
Haha they had a baby with kiss?😂
Really how old are you
omg.......😂😂😂😂
I'm not kidding how old are you
I don't get it you have to have sex to have babies OMG dose that mean they have sex
Seriously you just now got that like just now ok ok ok well whatever
LOL. You are so right. We're just missing the vein steed.
It's a great story......I have watched full version
OMG! I remember this! I think this was shown at school at one point.
Anyone notice that she cuts Rapunzel hair with safety scissors
Split-ends 101
I loved the part when he knew he can't see even with his eye closed.
Where did she get the clothes and cloths
Wait..when did this movie released??
SOO'' THIS IS THE ORIGINAL RAPUNZEL?? I REMEMBER HER ON THE POPEYE THE SAILOR MAN MOVIE!!! :)
This video and Into The Woods would make a good mash-up..."I was only going to leave you there until you learned your lesson!"
um Into the Woods already has Rapunzel..
Where are these babies came from lol
Shaving without a razor when you're blind must have sucked. Respect.
What Year From That
My question is where did she get clothes for their children?
This is in real or not
Thats amaze😊☺omg👍👍👍💖
Damn, that witch scared the hell out me in the old times...lol
Why is this on my recommendation after 10 years? And why did I watched it?
Rapunzel doesn't know what a man is, but she knows what blind means? Goodness. xD
They vow to be husband and wife. The prince only visited her at night. It doesn't take a lot to figure out how she got pregnant.
Wheres part 1
