Classic New Haven Apizza: Apizza or a Pizza? || Really Dough?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 18 авг 2019
- Mark and Scott are back on the road and of course they have to make a pitstop in New Haven, Connecticut, the birthplace of apizza. A typical apizza is made with a thin crust, oregano, and tomato sauce, then sprinkled with pecorino romano cheese. After Mark tries to take the driver’s seat on picking out what pizzeria they’ll visit, they inevitably go to Scott’s choice, Zuppardi’s Apizza. The duo tries clam apizza, a New Haven favorite made with coal-fired thin-crust topped with grated cheese, chopped garlic, and fresh littleneck clams. Will Mark be convinced that this apizza is a pizza?
What makes a pizza, a pizza? Lucali owner and old-school Brooklyn pizzaiolo Mark Iacono has a strict pizza formula: sauce, cheese, and dough. That’s it. But renowned pizza enthusiast Scott Wiener believes that the beauty of the slice comes from its creative customizability; even if it’s topped with cheeseburgers or constructed with paella. Scott travels all over America to spotlight the country’s most unique pies and make a case for whether these new customizations can, in fact, still be considered a pizza. This time, he’s taking Mark along for the ride on an East Coast road trip to try the craziest concoctions claiming to be pizza... but are they really dough?

Craving more?? Check out Mark and Scott's last episode where they taste a pizza donut: ruclips.net/video/XsmWvjoZrGQ/видео.html
Are the guys going to Stamford?
When's the merch coming?!!
I'd love an Apron with "Flour, Water, Yeast, Nothing Else"
this really really really looked super tasty. it doesnt need the lemon sprinkle btw
I love that you add the chunching sound effects to every bite. Its not that obvious ;-)
When is their next season? It’s been too long!
Miss this show 😔
I came for the Pizza And stayed for the character development. Amazing stuff.
This series turned into a full soap opera
The post production is also amazing. really great work i think.
@@TheDaSilvaMatheus I disagree. They go overboard on the post production. It's too much. It's also getting more and more scripted. I miss when they were more natural.
@@IDiggPattyMayonnaise that is why it is it's more funny hahahhaha 😄😄😄funny😄
Aidan Gallagher technically yeah a pus pus Is a butt
when are they gonna travel the globe tasting different pizzas
Hopefully soon!
@@thrillist Hopefully you can get Mark out to Korea! Pizza there is crazy different. He's gotta experience all things K-Pizza. From the Pizza's themselves to the delivery culture
@@thrillist Would love to see you try Swedish döner kebab pizza. With Béarnaise sauce. A true classic over here. The go to hungover meal for everyone it seems. Another classic: banana, curry, pineapple, chicken and peanuts. The Africana. Lol.
Just Do it.

No I want a crossover with frank of best pizza
2019 was such a good year for Pizza shows, life was good before 2020 - bring this show back!
9:30 "We need to lock the door!" 😂😂😂
OMG I laughed so hard when she said that!
iknow im gonna look stupid but why did she say that ?
@@leonbelmont4028 it's all scripted
@@kasperia2542 i know but what was she supposed to mean by that(english is note my native tongue)
Mark : it’s not a pizza it’s Apizza .
Result : gets locked out after Scott leaves him
Damn you could really tell Mark loved the clam pie. Never saw his face light up while eating like that ever.
The smell hit him in the face when he walked in the door.
Scott is the type of guy to remind the teacher for homework
i was that guy once.
I have an unhealthy hate for him....seriously...,I just want to meet him and slap him...
Doug demuro??
@@54F1_ I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SAY THAT
Mark Iacono’s Pizza Rules:
⬛️Composition
◾️Real pizza needs to have the finest ingredients.
◾️Dough. Sauce. Cheese.
▪️Pizza dough should be made from flour, water, salt, and yeast. Nothing else.
◾️Pizza should be round or square-no other shape.
⬛️Experience
◾️When you walk into a pizzeria, the aroma should punch you right in the face.
◾️Pizza should be baked in an oven.
▪️Pizza tastes best served right out of the oven.
◾️Pizza should look as good as it tastes.
◾️Pizza should be eaten with your hands, never a fork and knife.
◾️A city’s got flavor; you should be able to taste that when you eat there.
You forgot at 500 degrees
Are you his publicist? Damn!
Savage Sage he has said that before and that’s why they were able to flashback to that instance in this episode, but it’s not one of his most core rules that he’s stricter on. I excluded it and other minor rules/comments for this list
Levi S. Not in this episode, but he has previously in the series. Since he has included salt before, I figured it’s better to include it than not in the list
M just a fan and pizza lover
This series should never end...never ever... this is not just a food show...it's more than that, it's a therapy, it's magical, it's pure, it's a stress buster...and above all it's POSITIVITY which is lacking everywhere in our world... SO NEVER EVER END THIS SERIES.....
This was a great series. I would love another series with these two.
I was like "Clams on pizza, really?"
Shown the pizza being made "huh, it doesn't seem that bad."
Mark : "This is phenomenal!" then ordered second pizza.
I've never been so wrong in my entire life. I really love this series!
I've learned over the years even if something sounds bad you never know till you try it and sometimes it ends up being amazing
Honestly, this is the best looking pizza they have ever tasted its up there with the salmon grilled one. This looks so fucking good!
The fact that you guys make this scripted drama so good is amazing.
Mark FINALLY gets to relax for a bit. Brilliant thinking. =D
Can someone explain to me why my jaw ALWAYS dropped when theres a new episode of Really Dough. Ughhhh. God. Thank you Pizza Gods.
#bless
@@thrillist #blessedt with a T in the end.
James you got a bit of shit stuck to your nose
At first I thought Mark wasn't eating the crust. And then I realized my man was saving it to sop up all that pizza liquor. A true master.
It's time for Scott to take Mark to Italy. Make it happen, Thrillist.
Danger Zone if you watch the pizza edition of ugly delicious on Netflix, Mark goes to Italy to try the pizza.
that subtle “we need to lock the door” was priceless haha
Mark looks so happy. This warms my heart
“You need to respect Connecticut”
Wow I think Mark is having a Grinch moment... his pizza heart is growing!
Finally.... 😭😭😭 he love the pizza even without cheese and tomato sauce 😍😍😍
Raymond Maglonzo IT’S NOT A PIZZA
@@eric69571 its apizza
Its half a pizza
I saw this place on the pizza show on munchies. The people who run it are amazing. Happy you guys did an episode there. Once again great episode!
This needs to be a show on netflix or something. the chemistry between the two is fantastic and the writing is so much fun
That fresh clam pizza at Zuppardi’s is truly next level!
I wish I could try it! It looks like the best pizza they have ever tasted on this show
It’s truly great. But the white clam pie at the original Frank Pepe’s in New Haven has a slight edge over it. It’s been named #1 pizza in America for over 20 years running..
@@j3dr905 I live in Southington CT. The white clam pie at Zuppardis is truly superb. The clams taste sooo damn fresh and delicious.
People need to watch the older seasons of really dough to appreciate this version of Mark.
I could listen to Mark all day, every day. From liverpool England
9:34
“We need to lock the door” 😂
I love how them just talking about the steps they take to making the pizza matched perfectly with how he described it. 🍕
This is the biggest cliffhanger in the history of cliffhangers
I'm from CT, and grew up eating at Pepe's with my grandfather (RIP). Last time I went I spent probably 200 bucks just to eat Pepe's pizza all week while I was visiting. I just wish I could bring it back to Chicago with me because the casserole here sucks :D
I'm really surprised, I thoroughly enjoy this show and look forward to new episodes. Fantastic job. 👏👏👏
i swear to god, bring the show back.
"we need to lock the door" right after they leave lmao
*3:15** gotta love how humble Mark is!!*
This series is amazing! Such a good chemistry between Mark & Scott
This is the first pizza joint Mark has really connected with. You just know in your soul that pizza is good. The crunch did it for me. Side note: Mark is a nice looking gentlemen!
Great video, as always!
Also, the reason why it’s called “a’pizza” is because in the Napolitano dialect, “a’” means “the” in English or “la” in standard Italian. If you want to use the male version, in Napolitano dialect you say “u calendario”, which means “the calendar”. In this case, “u” means “the” in English and “il” in standard Italian. Thus, “apizza” is dialect for “the pizza”, and the dialect comes from Napoli e Salerno.
I absolutely love and adore this show. Everytime I see a new video posted I get all giddy inside!!
I already figured out how this ends. Mark and Scott are the same person with a split personality.
The first rule of pizza club no one talks about pizza club.
@@celestialether1184 damn, you beat me to that reference I was going to make the same joke hah
Bite Club
i love these guys ,just having fun among two different guys ,and just allowing the viewer to get involved, with their " what else are they going to do next " !...
These videos are some of my favorite moments every Monday.
This, This is why I watch this show. So much chemistry. I love It!
Every episode that drops comforts me like coming home after a long day
I honestly never know what to expect from this show 😂and I love it! ❤️
I like this concept more!! Mark finally out of his shell. This series has a structural story and so funny! Keep it up, Thrillist!!!
Love this! Such a good series!
"You need to learn how to be a good friend"
Said a guy who kidnaps his friend
And leaves him at apizza place
At the start when Mark squeezes a lemon and it's spritzes to the side, it was like one of those silly fail video.
This is better than any tv show right now ! DONT STOP GUYS !
the best thing that currently exists. ty thrillist for this show and send foodz.
one of the best episodes from this season!
Love these! These two are great together!
Love this video ... " You wanna hang with the big boys ... You gotta eat fast " thanks Mark ❣️
I have never seen Mark SSSSOOOOO damn happy. Looks AMAZING🤤🤤🤤
that shot of the lemon squirt completely missing the slice will haunt me forever.
Still waiting for next season...
This was an emotionally satisfying journey.
Seeing Mark happy after eating apizza brought such a big smile to my face!
The editor´s humour of this show is just ridiculous, i love it.
"It doesn't work that way....you wanna hang with the big boys, you gotta eat fast"
Yesss justvsaw the to be continued!!! So happy!
The editing is hysterical
Regardless of his pizza purist rules, you can just tell mike loves clam pizza…. Clam pizza is really something else 🤤
I can watch this all night.. actually I am going to... these guys are friggin awesome!!!!
My fave episode. Now im craving for a clam pizza!
Seeing Mark just devour this pizza made me smile and laugh and I half shed a tear. Everything about this show is just amazing -- the production value, the character development, the simplistic writing and approach of the show, the content and how purposefully it was chosen, the list goes on. So many shows don't feel authentic when you look at the interactions between the hosts and the businesses but here you don't feel that at all. Really Dough? doesn't even need its own Netflix show -- this is the peak pizza content I look forward to every week. The only downside to these episodes is that they are so short.
Binged watched all 3 seasons pretty much nonstop. Love this series! What’s up with Season 4 dough?
probably not happening soon cause of covid :(
The people that run Zuppardi's are truly amazing. A family tradition and great abeetz.
Still waiting for season 4 in 2021 !!!!
Glad to see Mark happy and in his element!
The big boys have entered the Pizzaria. If you're not fast you're last! 😂😂
Prolly my favourite episode so far.
This is honestly one of the best content on foodie YT hahahah
In this episode. All I can see is the truth no drama no script. Mark and scott enjoys the apizza and that's it. Love it by the way. More episode please.
Till the last couple min when they go back to the fake drama garbage.
Just watched the Ugly Delicious episode of this....
This is the most wholesome "really dough" episode I've ever seen
These are the best. Keep it going.
"You wanna hang with the big boys, you gotta eat fast."
Lmao
Why does this series not get more love like fr
This has more layers than The Young & The Restless.. keep it up guys!
Man, I wish Season 4 would come out...
The way they fight over how much slices one gets-
Thats me and my sister.😂
Great show I love all the pizzas you have.
I always watch this show with a NY slice in my hand!
Pedro Molina from s’barro?
That’s what’s up!
The double plot twist has got me twisted like those garlic knots.
Lmao we need to lock the door🤣
I ve seen enough about this place. It's definitely on the map now.
Scott is such a talent!! Love that guy.
The most wholesome episode so far
mark iacono looks like the pizza version of john wick hahah
This is some of the best content ever
"we need to lock the door" i cracked right there
One of the best series
I get why I love this so much. It's like watching a dog and a cat eat pizza together.
"we need to lock the door"
this is becoming a recurring gag lol
He really missed that slo mo lemon squeeze 😆
Best episode yet.
that episode was amazing
