The CX-90 is going to take Mazda to the next level. Inline 6 and RWD on a new platform. It's going to be more expensive and more premium but I can't wait to see it.
Just bought a 23 CX9..love it..would love to get the 90, but it will be about 20k more!!! ALSO...the NON touch screen is a HUGE PLUS! You can stay in your comfortable seating position without having to lean forward and "touch a screen"!!
So agree. You GET IT! And that's why I didn't mind pulling the trigger last week to get the 2023MDX. It is so much more comfortable leaning back and controlling the screen. Enjoy your new!
20K more? are you comparing gasoline CX9 with gasoline CX90 or by mistake you compared CX90 PHEV? because i see only 4K difference between a CX9 GT vs CX90 GT for gasoline models.. Am i missing something?
I have the CX-8 here in Japan. Same exact trim and color as the CX-9 that you’re featuring. The difference is the width and length. CX-8 is just slightly smaller but not by much. Same chassis, wheels, brakes, etc. The major difference is the engine. CX-8 has 2.2 turbocharged inline four diesel with 200 hp but with 450 nm of torque! That’s just as much torque as lot of V8! I love the grunt that my CX-8 offers. The few zonks that I have is just not enough space around the shifters, armrest, small sunroof, and completely useless third row. But other than that it’s a great family hauler. Thanks for the review as always Joe!
I was going to wait for the 90, but ended up getting the 23 CX9 Grand Touring and I love it, very comfortable and everyone gripes about the infotainment being dated and no touch screen, I absolutely love the cursor it keeps fingerprints off the screen and it's easy to navigate, so 2 thumbs up on the CX9
Hi! I'm in a similar situation. Have almost put my money on the 2023 CX9 GT, but still thinking if I should wait for the CX90. I'm sure it will be higher on price. What are your thoughts on owning the 2023 GT? There is a Signature available as well, but I'm not sure if its worth putting in extra 30k dhs.
@ashishdalwanimusic there are incentives to move the CX9's right now and there is room for negotiating, the CX90 in my thoughts is a new brand so my thoughts were let me wait a few year's and have them work the kinks out if any, I personally lease so that's why I'm going that angle, but this is just my opinion, I am very happy with my decision, good luck to you!
agree,we are at the same boat. I am organizing to buy the final version of cx9 as a 2018 model of CX9 owner. In my opinion this car can fight at 5 years or more. Let CX90 improve a lot more especially the transmission jerking too much than Mazda 6AT.
@ashishdalwanimusic I've had mine now for 8 months and tbh it was the best move I made in purchasing a vehicle, this car rides and maneuvers very well, they did a good job insulating it from outside and road noise, I was concerned with the same engine and drive train as the other models being it's a midsize SUV, but I've had no problems with pickup, the 3rd row is small, but would be good if you have kids or a small adult, I wouldn't spring for the signature because the only difference is the interior Nappa Leather, the bonus is you really don't see alot of them like you do the CX5 and plus they have such a nice look all of their own I've noticed alot of heads turn
Meh, still got a 2013 CX-9 with almost 240k on it kicking around. Been a great vehicle aside from the eventual catastrophic internal, timing chain driven, water pump failure that did happen 30k ago. I can wait.
I would wait in my opinion. From first looks I've seen of the cx90 it looks promising. That inline 6 with over 300 horses is intriguing. Also their interiors have been excellent too. They've really wanted to elevate that in all their models. Quality has been going up. Good changes by mazda
@@maga6319 what does reliability have to do with this buddy? I mentioned nothing on it and nothing on Toyota either. And you say WaY better. Its good yes vastly improved but not on the level on Toyota. Show me proof that they're better and ahead of toyota
I would wait too. I think Mazda should make a bigger display screen, 14 inch one like the new Lexus RX 2023. Mazda should also add the hybrid option for the CX90 .
I own a 22 cx9 and love it. I am in love with the cx90 reveal and very interested in it. But I think it’s better for wait and see once reviews are out on its performance, features, options, and price are all layer on the table. With all this in mind and inflation of course I would then make a decision whether it would be wise to jump into the cx90
I feel like I am in the same boat as you, 2021 CX-9 owner, with very much interest in the CX-90, but I want to make sure it's the right decision financially.
At the right price, a 2023 might be a good purchase considering it’s a proven model. The top trim 2024 CX-90 will be considerably more expensive, and it will have to prove its reliability.
Just bought the cx9 and so far very pleased. Did not feel I needed the rear wheel drive or 6 cylinder as this turbo is great and reminds me of the Volvo I had with the same style motor. The 3500 towing is all I need if I end up pulling something. Bose is great and car is quiet inside. Interior plush and again reminds me of my Volvo car but am SUV. Back is tight but with seats down has a good amount of cargo space. Overall a nice vehicle.
Joe, you r the best when it comes to detailing what specifications a car has and you do it in a very enjoyable and fun way, thank you. I enjoy your videos
Despite the fact that its on its 7th year of this body style, the CX-9 still looks great IMO. And is a great car overall. I agree the Signature should have painted cladding instead of the black plastic. They paint it now on the CX-5 Signature, so don't understand why they haven't done the same on the CX-9. And I personally think they use way too much chrome both inside and out. I'm considering trading my CX-5 for a CX-9, but will wait to see the styling and pricing of the CX-90 and CX-70 first. I think the 70 will be the sweet spot for me since I don't need a 3rd row.
After seeing the new CX-90, I’m so glad I have my CX-9 Carbon Edition. Don’t get me wrong, the CX-90 is a beauty, but I know it would be tough to upstage the CX-9 design. Anyway, the CX-9 is the best car I’ve ever owned and I really love it, so much that at times my kids and wife get jealous 😊. You should test drive both and see which one you like best.
Love your stuff, Joe. I'm holding out for the CX-90. Not that I don't like the CX-9, but I think that Mazda did such a good job on the CX-50 that my expectations are high for the CX-90.
Definitely waiting for the CX-90! Only about 14 hours until the big reveal. The CX-9 is a great drive, but lacks some must-have features. Hopefully the final product will arrive soon … and your review!
The CX-90 probably be much better than the CX-9 we love see the CX-90 the styling might look better same with interior with MSRP will be little higher. While current CX-9 still looks good would buy it because be cheaper.
I am waiting to see what the hybrid CX-50 will look like and what the gas mileage will be. I’m in no hurry for a new vehicle as my 2011 Mazda Cx-7 is still going strong
I think black chrome would make a difference on this vehicle and the black cladding is a major zonk it should be body colored. A panoramic roof would be ideal and the paddles should be bigger. Thanks Steven for your camera skills!
You just can’t do a pano roof on this design, because of both the progressive slope and narrowing of the roof panel. If it had a pano, the opening would end up too small. Also, I was told that a pano would make the vehicle too heavy, and upset the center of gravity. Cheers.
I have a 21 CX-9 carbon edition, and tbh the car is such a beauty that the black cladding, regular sunroof, and size of paddles are a non-issue. It already feels like a premium vehicle when I’m in the cockpit, and black caddying kinda goes with the CE.
Joe to be honest, I will miss the CX 9 for sure. However, I am really excited to see what the CX90 has in store for 2024. It seems like brands are doing this lately, creating full size luxury SUVs. Another example is Toyotas Grand Highlander coming up. Very interesting stuff going in in the auto industry today Joe.
Honestly looking forward to the 2024 CX-90, it needed an update anyway especially looking at vehicles like the Palisade, Telluride and more, it just seemed to be lacking in the segment. I had seen how the new CX-60 looks in other markets. I'm excited to see if that translates to the new CX-90, if so it'll definitely be interesting to see how the American market reacts
Mazdas sourcing and pricing for the cx90 is amazing. That price for all that standard equipment blows the competition out the water. $50k for the top trim brand new is crazy. The qx60 starts in the 50s

I paid off my 2016 CX-5 Grand Touring, so it's nice not having a car note. 135,000 miles and still nice and runs great! I hear they can go 300,000 to 400,000mi. I just bought a 2023 CX-9 carbon edition due to great deal, paid invoice price & Mazda loyalty $500 off & 0% interest from Mazda Finance, Man what a beautiful car! I couldn't afford the $55,000K-61,000K CX-90 trim I wanted, The CX-9 was 13,000K-19,000K cheaper and it's just as nice! NOT much difference, just a BIT smaller, and I don't bang my knee on the front AC vent like in the CX-90. I got in both the CX9 and CX90 and they almost feel Identical. Love that 4-cylinder turbo, drives like a dream! Maybe in the future I'll get a CX-90 but for now I'll get a CX-9 while they are on clearance sale, what a great bargain, my dealership in my area is giving $7000K off MSRP on the CX-9. Nobody else is giving $7000K off MSRP for 2023 six row SUV! "HIley Mazda Fort Worth, TX" while supplies last. I KEPT my CX-5 also, Love that thing! Why not? It still has 200K miles to go, I'll let my Son & Dad use it. P.S. I also hear the CX-9 is a better car and better deal than the 2023 Toyota Highlander from the Car Review Folks. Front grill looks good, Great White Shark on the road, so move out the way, fools or you'll get eaten up! lol, kidding. Great choice Mazda, Reliable Japanese car, retain their value, high quality beautiful car and big bang for your buck and extremely fun to drive all of them. I've had nothing but Mazda's now since 2007 and I have watched the company grow and their cars have just gotten better and better with age like a fine wine.
I recently bought 2023 CX9, my family really liked this one, I would love to own CX90 but price is definitely not going to be the same as CX9, again I watched your CX90 review, it seems like same luxury feel + third row comfort seat… to get electric price would be at higher side.. eagerly waiting for CX90 price..
Hey man, just wanted to say how much I appreciate your personality on these videos. Watching a lot of these things it’s easy to get bogged down in specs, but you’re one of the few Reviewers that make me laugh: I watch videos on cars I’m never going to buy just to check you out. Thanks for making them fun and be careful with those “Magic” 8-Balls, Keep ‘em out of the “Third” Row! See you on the next ride!
Mazda CX-9 Signature Is The Best Car Mazda Has Ever Made In History, Quality, Beauty Both Exterior And Interior Are Excellent 👌, Engine Is Super Reliable 👉 💯 I Have A Full Plan To Buy Mazda CX-9 Signature Within 2023 In Sha Allah 🙂☺️💕😍
I traded in my 2017 six for a 2022 CX9. I prefer models that have been out for a while with a proven drivetrain. 17k trouble free miles so far. The CX90 will have 1st year bugs as do all new redesigned vehicles. I never buy a vehicle unless it’s at least 3 years into the new model year so the problems can be fixed.
That CX 9 is BIG. Rides like a Cadillac. Wheelbase and length larger than almost all suspects: Pallisade, Sorrento, Highlander, etc.. Of course also Santa Fe, Tucson, CRV, Rogue, Murano, and Rav 4. I’m hoping to get it ASAP. Good deals may be available. Maybe next time the 90.
these days, cars all look-alike.... if you replaced the front Mazda badge with badges from Mercedes, BMW or even Volvo, can you really tell that it's a Mazda? :)
I have a cx5, and if ever i plan to upgrade, i would choose the cx9 over the cx90, all because i am avoiding 8 speed and cvt transmissions, i was used to driving 6 speed stick shift. Thats why, personal opinion, i would choose the cx9, it is beautiful too.

I test drove the 2024 CX-90 Premium pkg and sat on the Premium Plus wow!!! Mazda hit a homerun BUT still missing those extra safety features Kia Telluride has (Camera turn signal and rearview camera). I drove a cx-9 carbon and decide I want the Grand Touring for that 360 camera and save some money as CX-90 and Telluride are hot right now.
Just bought a new CX-9 Signature, Soul Red with a beautiful white leather interior. This will be a great SUV for us to travel the USA for the next 2-3 years. Let Mazda work out some of the new kinks that might occur to the new platform. This is out first Mazda and it's somewhat interesting, as we traded in our Nissan Rogue and was looking for the panoramic roof, power adjustable steering wheel. New features on the new CX=90. But, for a new CX-9 Signature for a bit under $47k, this was too hard to pass up. Zoom Zoom!
50 grand for this cx-9 not worth, you can definitely get better options with that price point, (highlander, tellruide, etc) also will you cover the CX 90 as its being released on the 31st?
As a CX50 owner, I think the CX90 really nice. However, if they eventually put the new engine and EV tech in the CX50, I personally think that would be the better route to go.
I recently read a book that claims Mazda has surpassed BMW in terms of driving experience and quality. Mazda is undergoing a rebranding process, positioning itself as a premium car brand with a focus on both stylish design and driving engagement. The company is no longer viewed simply as a budget car manufacturer with some innovative engine technologies, but rather as a symbol of prime car excellence for those who value both style and the joy of driving.
Greetings from your regular visitor from southern Ontario Canada the 2024 CX90 I understand according to Mazda Canada will be offering a phev with similar output in 320hp and higher in torque still offering the 6spd auto. Take care and thanks for the presentation
Loved the cx9 rental I had. Only complaint was the rear vents. I have a rear facing car seat and it gets HOT in SoCal and the vents aren’t optimal for my little one. That’s why I got a telluride because of the roof mounted vents
@@Leesher33608 Telluride is the better option one of KIA most reliable models and it's not the best choice to get a 1st year model in the CX-90. Good luck......

@@lemmuhj Their is a learning curve with rotary knob infotainment system and does Mazda think only one driver uses a Mazda vehicle? So every different driver needs to learn the touch and feel of the rotary knob. Having touchscreen infotainment without the rotary knob is easier to just touch the screen as needed for commands......
The fact this car hasn’t been redesigned in 7 years is shocking. Although, it is gonna need one pretty soon if they decide to keep it around with the cx90
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 I understand why they do. They do it for safety even if we don’t agree with it as consumers, they make the decisions. All about safety.

Wish the volume control button would turn the radio off without it coming back on next time the car is started! Holding it down turns the entire infotainment system off. There has to be a better way!
First of all, I think it would be not easy to compare the CX 9 and the 90, as they belong to different categories. The CX-90 is clearly aimed at people who want a luxury SUV, take a look at the MSRP. I get more bang for my buck if I opt for the more expensive CX-9 trims. Don't get me wrong, I love the CX 90 design and feel, but I don't need that much power in a family car... also, I'd probably choose a different brand if I wanted a midsize luxury SUV.
The CX-90 will be too large for my garage! I'm very happy with my CX-9. It's a 2019 but I only bought it in 7/22 (certified pre-owned.) I hope to keep it for many years.
Drove the highlander and the pilot before driving this... They both felt like Amish wagons compared to this.. Having a functional car thats fun to drive is a helluva thing.. and Mazda makes a reliable ride these days... You want resale? Buy the toyota and yawn while youre driving it.. or check these out.. U wont be disappointed
If the CX-90 is class competitive on cargo space and third row usability it might be my next car. If it continues to fall behind key competition on those things that matter a lot for a family vehicles then I'll sadly have to pass. I really like Mazdas but in most segments they really trail the competition on practicality. If they could combine their interior quality and driving experience with a bigger dose of what families need in terms of cargo space, I think they'd be killing the competition.
If you can get a good deal, need a reliable and reasonably good performing and luxurious family car (for four comfortably) right now, I would consider it still.
I have no doubt the CX90 with the inline 6, and the new 8 spd DCT will be a better vehicle. However, it is totally new, and I would not buy it as a FYI (first year introduction). The CX9 is likely more reliable, and a better value so I would lean towards that for now.
The CX-90 is going to take Mazda to the next level. Inline 6 and RWD on a new platform. It's going to be more expensive and more premium but I can't wait to see it.
I work at a Mazda dealer so I can’t wait.

Thanks for sharing that personal experience!
HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE 👍
What up Joe? Mazda Time!
They need to bring back the Mazda 6 and give it AWD with more hp
Agreed! I love my Mazda6 Signature with the Turbo! But I'd love to see the new inline 6 in a new gen Mazda6
In my Beavis and Butt-Head voice: "Ahahaha! He said wood."
The Mazda CX-90 is getting revealed this Tuesday.
I'll promise that I will buy this SUV in couple of months and I was thinking about that Joe.
That Type R looks hot 8:40
Mazda CX-9 Signature Is The Best Car Mazda Has Ever Made In History, Quality, Beauty Both Exterior And Interior Are Excellent 👌, Engine Is Super Reliable 👉 💯
I Have A Full Plan To Buy Mazda CX-9 Signature Within 2023 In Sha Allah 🙂☺️💕😍
Excellent point on fog lights scheme. There Mazda blew it and should correct.
Absolutely loved the review my man!
man Raiti after seeing the CX-90 with the I6 turbo RWD platform im sold it looks sooo good in the new deep ruby Artisan Red!
When you were standing in front of the vehicle and said it's a three-row SUV, I knew I'd be annoyed with the space for the third row.
This is an amazing car but it’s packaged comically inefficiently. It’s 5 inches longer than a Highlander, yet has less cargo capacity than a CR-V
@@davewilson7602 Less than a crv? Yeah right.
He crv has no third row...
@@BlueCarEnthusiast122 so what
@Rafa RS the "so what" is the CR-V and the CX-9 are in 2 very different classes of vehicle.
When you see how dirty touch screens get, I prefer the knob control.
I am right there with you Peter!
I agree everyone looks like they are driving the same cars. Blah.
Hey Raiti's Rides How Are You Can You Make The 2023 MAZDA CX-30 2.5 PREFERRED AWD
🇺🇸 *LOVE this CX-9* !! *My sister-in-love has a CX-9* !! *I'm weary to think the CX-90 would be electric* !! *Prefer the CX-9* !! *FAB video Joe and Steven* !! #RaitisRides 🇺🇸
Zoom Zoom!
OMG the narcotics and nursery rime LOL! You're killing me Joe. 3, 4 fold the floor? 🤣😂
Really starting to think Raiti’s IS my algorithm. Been waiting for this review.
50 grand for this cx-9 not worth, you can definitely get better options with that price point, (highlander, tellruide, etc) also will you cover the CX 90 as its being released on the 31st?
It depends what you like .
I have a 2021 carbon edition with the red seats. Don't like the plastic around the wheels and no touchscreen. Other than that it's awesome
ahaha the 8-ball reference Raiti knows whats up 😏
I love this gentleman…specially when he gets into the car and announce the price 😅/great video amigo 👍
Why not wait for the CX-90 unless it's necessary to buy a new one now
Fantabulous video review, Joe & Lory
Great video. 100%, the flat black trim should be same color as the rest of car. Doesnt not look good during the daytime.
2024
We need a 100 mile ev range phev
That would kill ev's imo
😂💀😂💀😂💀😂💀
Greetings from your regular visitor from southern Ontario Canada the 2024 CX90 I understand according to Mazda Canada will be offering a phev with similar output in 320hp and higher in torque still offering the 6spd auto. Take care and thanks for the presentation
I own 2021 gt model and I love it.
The type r just chillin in the back round🤣 8:44
Loved the cx9 rental I had. Only complaint was the rear vents. I have a rear facing car seat and it gets HOT in SoCal and the vents aren’t optimal for my little one. That’s why I got a telluride because of the roof mounted vents
Hopefully they integrate a new touch screen in the 2024
Mazda won't and the rotary knob infotainment system is outdated, it's 2023 not 2010.........
They’ve already shown interior shots with the rotary knob, it’s unfortunately there to stay. May be my dealbreaker between CX-90 and Telluride
@@Leesher33608 Telluride is the better option one of KIA most reliable models and it's not the best choice to get a 1st year model in the CX-90. Good luck......
@TheGingerLife08 I thought the same but the knob is effortless in that you don't have to keep leaning forward to touch a screen..you can keep your arm/elbow on the arm rest and not have to move your arm..it's very convenient
Going for the 90
The fact this car hasn’t been redesigned in 7 years is shocking. Although, it is gonna need one pretty soon if they decide to keep it around with the cx90
they prolly will just let this one retire and only keep the cx-90. After all, Mazda is a small company.
Mazda is slow/outdated and still using rotary knob infotainment system in 2023...........
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 I understand why they do. They do it for safety even if we don’t agree with it as consumers, they make the decisions. All about safety.
@@Dmassey15 So automakers who have touchscreen infotainment system don't care about their consumers safety?whatever. Look the real reason is (cost cutting) not safety the Mazda Miata currently has a touchscreen infotainment. It's cheaper to put the same screen and tech in all your models........
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 I thought touchscreen works when using carplay?
Wish the volume control button would turn the radio off without it coming back on next time the car is started! Holding it down turns the entire infotainment system off. There has to be a better way!
I hope the new 3.3 i6 turbo engine is as reliable as their 2.5 4 cylinder engines. Also glad they're going to 8 gear autos from 6!
Location?
I can’t wait for the All 2024 New Mazda CX-90 to arrive this year.
16:59 , What kind of watch are you wearing? Looks pretty good.
This vehicle looks is ahead of its time love it
You are so very right!
Beautiful inside and out. Wish Mazda would implement wireless charging in a vehicle at some point in the future.
Lmao @ narcotics to sit in the 3rd row 🤣
Is this good for short ppl good visibility
Review Landrover defender v8 brother !!
Bigger fog lamp. I have one and love it . Same color
The exterior is dated at this point and more like a high wagon than anything, but the interior is still nice. Good to have some wood to rub.
It is going to be really interesting!
If you can get a good deal, need a reliable and reasonably good performing and luxurious family car (for four comfortably) right now, I would consider it still.
I guess I'll have to wait till hell freezes over because I don't like SUVs.
Cool. Buy a car.
Was in the market for the cx-9 until i saw the cx-90, ill wait!
I have no doubt the CX90 with the inline 6, and the new 8 spd DCT will be a better vehicle. However, it is totally new, and I would not buy it as a FYI (first year introduction). The CX9 is likely more reliable, and a better value so I would lean towards that for now.
Hi Joe glad to see you and your awesome review, my question is why the Mazda CX -9 has the same exterior as the CX -5?
No it doesn't. There are some much difference.
It doesn't.
