It doesn't seem like a "blade" cuts the chain - I would expect a pin to push out a chain pin to separate the chain, just like how regular chain tools work.
Very good demo of CHAIN manufacturing including Tumbling ( bur removing ), plating of outerlinks. The quality measures covered in process is must for this type of process which was covered GOOD. S S Rao.
lol that was freakin' awesome XD ... Hah ha ha, did not notice before that the inner links are not shiny. What was that coating again, nickle/teflon! So it turns out that to make bicycle chains you need to first make the machines that stamp out the pieces and the machines that put them together ... that is to say to mass produce them.
Superior engineering, a la Campagnolo. By the way Bryce, it's not overkill. Not by a long shot. Regret to no end that Rohloff pulled the plug on manufacturing. Theirs were simply beyond words.
@Swordguyman there are companies around the globe, specializing in industrial mass-production machinery, those companies have engineers designing systems that can perform either one, or a series of tasks. when the design is complete, the individual parts for a prototype are manufactured and assambled. the machinery goes through a series of controls and tests to see how well it performs. if there are bugs or mishaps occuring, its back to the drawing board until a solution is found. roughly speakn
BIKE CHAIN processing is good. The Sub presses(ball cage-aligned presses ),progressive operations, inline quality measures, tumbling, plating ..Chain assembling...very intresting. S S Rao
Who are "we"? You can bet your ass master links are still manufactured, sold and used. And I use them too. So your answer is uneducated, uninformed and just plain stupid.
Thats funny im laughing with you a trip around DA HOOD in st pete florida is a bad HOOD to ride in even the homies are afraid of that place thats why they are all moving up by whitie
these things can be genuine p.i.t.a ive been building custom chopper bicycles for little over 6 years now and i cant tell you how many times ive been to walmart to get 3 packs of chains to put one chain together and let me tell u from experience i still hate putting these together it took me 2 mins to take a link out and add 5 links and took me 30 mins to add one link lol i hate doing chains id like to kick who evers ass invented these darn things!!! lmao
thanks you John. very informative and very knowledgeable. I have never seen it before
Ousa Pheach

I always wanted to know how a bicycle chain was made Merry Christmas greetings from Florence Oregon
Ok looks like this is the real how that is made!
It doesn't seem like a "blade" cuts the chain - I would expect a pin to push out a chain pin to separate the chain, just like how regular chain tools work.
So many possibilities for chain puns in this video.
could start a 'chain' of jokes...
"Please rate 5 stars" man, I feel so old...
Yeah, those days with no yt rewinds.
another 5 yeas passed

awesome man
"or at the very least a short spin around the hood" lol
'hood = neighborhood
muffemod no. Hood means hood.
Or the very least a short spin around the hood 😂
Good demo and educative.....
@Swordguyman Then, how do they make the machines that make the water and the dolphins?
lol that was freakin' awesome XD ... Hah ha ha, did not notice before that the inner links are not shiny. What was that coating again, nickle/teflon! So it turns out that to make bicycle chains you need to first make the machines that stamp out the pieces and the machines that put them together ... that is to say to mass produce them.
@eminemnr1 Machine tool such as lathes and mills. Cincinnati Milacron and Bridgeport.
is this slomo mostly?
Superior engineering, a la Campagnolo. By the way Bryce, it's not overkill. Not by a long shot.

awesome

i did used the bike chain on the snowmobile,,,
yes still good running
how do they make the machines that make the chains?
With chain building, chain building machines.
@Swordguyman but how do they make the machines that make the machines that make the chains :o
How the chains are getting fork in a forking rod..i need that process .....
"Cutting the chain" is not exactly right. The machine doesn't cut the chain. It breaks it at a specific point.
the question is ...who maked this machines ,people or anothers machines
I have enjoied the process of Drills manufacturing Good.
S S Rao

it is a beautiful,
i like it.
that machine is called a tumbler, to take the burrs off (sharp edges off)
how does braking affect chain?
ahh,torpedo brakes,my bad
yes but they probably pay less for the sheets as they send the scraps to their supplier to be used in the next sheet.
It's the puns that make the chain strong.
What does it have what it takes to do?!?!
please tell me some one knows who the artist on the background are
i deed its mechine price please
Around the hood!?
I've been on a How it's Made chain for 2 months... Wtf So addicting
Pedalling a bicycle creates a 'chain' reaction ....brrrrrrrrrching
it is great .
what music is playing, please?
True but we will still pay for the entire sheet rather than the material that is actually used on the chain and not recycled.
why no full video!!!
Bikes are the best.
this is greAt! so tiny yet so significant....
i found it
the missing link
I want to see how u make tv
You guys need to be back on the discovery channel
thanks
These keep snaping on me.
Gear sprockets??? 1:27
Actually, there are 3 just on Folsom Street.
Matrix makes the machines that make the chains
what a process
Stop calling donut shapes! That's what Homer Simpson does! Call that a torus!
There are no chain factories in San Francisco.
Which hot oil do they use?
Heh, ill just go into the yard and make one now........ :) lol
Take a short spin around the hood
Chain scrap avaibal hai
12.7? why not 12?
Short spin around the hood...pfffah XD!
Yes,I go biking !
So it got what it take
they neglect to talk about master links. arguably the most important one
we don't use master links anymore. chainbreaker tool makes them obsolete.
Who are "we"? You can bet your ass master links are still manufactured, sold and used. And I use them too. So your answer is uneducated, uninformed and just plain stupid.
Muito foda
não sabia que era assim
abç
coyote
Who in da world would dislike this??? lmao must a had a bad chain experience.
+campos3452 I disliked because its not a full video. it cuts off at the most interesting part :'(
This covered a lot of what I recalled from the series. Do you have a link to another place w/the missing link, so to speak?
@Swordguyman
well, they take chains....
:)
The opening to this segment was cringe. "or at the very least, take a short spin around the hood"... What the hell
Anyone else here because of college?
they have what it takes to do what?!
The 2 cylinder Motor cycle ENGINE manufacturing is very GOOD.
S S Rao
woow
"Or take a ride around the hood..." hahahhahahah
Probably a bike for a one legged person since it doesn't have a left pedal...
@eminemnr1 Machines are made and designed by other machines
haha "to the bysickile" 0:16
Watched only because its this guy talking
We'll never know!
ooo yeee
whoooo shiny
sweet drivetrain but SRAM is better!
fIDGET SPINNERS
Thats funny im laughing with you a trip around DA HOOD in st pete florida is a bad HOOD to ride in even the homies are afraid of that place thats why they are all moving up by whitie
@Swordguyman lathe machine son. "mother of machines"
"It's got what it takes ...? ? ? "
Lmao a blade doesnt chop it at the end. Did they just guess that?
"gear sprockets". What other kind of sprocket is there?!
its bicycle, not buuaahhiiicycle
Campagnolo Super Record 11 chain.
around the hood or down to your local corner liquor store..... or down the the crack house...
Yeah :)
Campagnolo!
with hands
hide the factory!
Why?
D-BO.
They don't use chains.
@Swordguyman Sorcery.
with other machine built by machines...
