  • Wow, what a journey this is going to be! 🏍️ I've just been handed the reins to a Ducati Monster M900 that's been nestled in a garage untouched for a decade. It's time to breathe new life into this beautiful beast, to restore its roar and polish its charm. From dust to Ducati, follow me on this restoration ride.
A lady called Leanne contacted me and said her partner Andy had a Ducati Monster that he purchased just over a decade ago and would I be interested in resurrecting it. To be fair, I said "No" and went on with my life. I offered to buy the Monster instead and Andy said "No" Haha!
A few weeks went by and the thought of a Monster just languishing in a shed started to bother me, so I went to meet it.
This is video 1 in a series showing the restoration from Dust to Ducati.

The valve is a carb warmer, they suffered with carb icing a bit on cold winters days, so, you could flip the valve, and it would pump warm oil around the carbs IIRC.
This is such a lovely project bike, I'd love an M900 Monster... My first new bike was an M750 Monster back in 1997, had it until I applied to join the Royal Navy... they made me sell it as the finance was more a month than I'd be earning as an apprentice... was gutted, even more so when I joined up and they changed the pay so I could have afforded my HP payments... Grrr.
The wheels are super soft and very easy to dent, don't ride it up any kerbs, or land any ham-fisted wheelies! I actually still own a wing mirror from it after all these years... it is my shaving mirror in my bathroom! 🙂
Looking forward to seeing this progress mate!

Oil fed can de-icer. Oh my, imma make a mess taking the carbs off for sure. They are seized up. Wonderful story. Everyone needs a Monster in their life

@@MotoTingle Monsters were ace, would love a demo on the new one... shame P&H are no longer a Ducati dealership

@@HippoDrones it was Ducatis decision to pull out of all multi franchises. So there was nothing anyone could do. Means the winning franchises need to make up P&Hs sales. Given P&H sold more Ducatis than any other dealers, a risky move on Ducatis part. Can the single franchises make up the shortfall in sales, let’s see.

@@MotoTingle People wanting a Ducati, will travel for one, and I think there are a few solus dealerships not too far from P&H in each direction, so am sure Ducati won't lose too many sales... but did make me laugh that the moment I started thinking about getting a new Ducati, my local dealership stopped selling them... I took that as a hand of god / fate, saying it wasn't the right bike for me! 😀

@@HippoDrones it was about a year in the planning but the dealer didn’t find out until the last minute. I’ve talked to the two other Ducati dealers and sales staff, they are under pressure to make up the short fall, which means like you, people are not buying. P&H have a replacement for Ducati lined up. And luckily it’s not BSA 😂

Don't think it's a monster dark. The monster Dark's were the cheaper option this is base model instead - so a bit better! All the dark's were matt black with a black frame too. God damn I miss my 1997 M900S... (apart from the running costs that is!)
Good luck getting this beauty on the road again!

I agree, this is an S model. I plan to replace the belts in a few days, clean the tank out and then into the carbs which are seized. Hope to have it running in a couple of weeks and will update RUclips. Cheers!

Yes, this Ducati has sustained some shed scratches and broken indicator, plus much perishing of rubber.
