    About Michelle In The Meadow
I'm growing on a 1/4 acre suburban lot. I started gardening here 4 years ago and am glad you are here.
We have more than 80 individual fruit trees and shrubs and more than a dozen different kinds of annuals growing on this property. The slopes make for some interesting ways to garden, but we're trying to make the best of it.
On the first Sunday evening of each month (7PM Eastern), I go live on RUclips sharing updates and answering your questions.

I've been pondering a heap of potential methods for how to remove a couple of old star pickets from my yard. I never thought to consider using a car jack. Thanks for the idea, I will probably try something similar.

I like this. Lots of jigs can be made to work with whatever materials someone might have. And using just about any jack! I like this. My back like this. 10/10.

So glad. Thanks for sharing. Yes, my back is very pleased with this method, too. I'm now pondering more jigs and uses.

@@michelleinthemeadow I’ll share what I put together when I get a chance to move and remove the posts for my dog run. It’s “on my todo list” xD

    Cool!
I have to wait for wet days so I can wiggle the posts and pull at the same time. Don't think I've ever managed to remove one without hurting my back.

Oh no! I've tried that, too, unsuccessfully. I was so glad this worked. Even with the goof ups. Thank you for watching.

A farmer taught me to only drive the post flange deep. That's the only reason I can pull them without tools. You're method looks much safer.

Ah. That would be easier. Great tip when I need a short-term t post.

Michelle , if you soak around the star picket overnight with plenty of water it will come out easily .
Also instead of soft wood like pine , use a fair sized piece of hardwood that doesn’t compress and buckle , or just a decent flat rock to spread the weight on the ground .Happy picket pulling !

      @@michelleinthemeadow No dramas .
In Australia you can buy a small gadget with a handle you pull down and it rips the picket out easy peasey .
It still helps to water beforehand though z

Interesting. I've not heard of those. I'll research that a bit.

We have a tool on the farm for removing what you call T posts (we call them star pickets).

That's cool. If I keep using t posts, I may get one of those.

When I started my garden years ago with t posts I bought a post pounder and post puller, been invaluable. Working at a Fairgrounds in my youth I set up a lot of fencing and quickly learned to make it as easy as possible. Of course there the preferred method to set and pull posts was using the bucket of a front end loader.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. I gotta check out the puller. Happy Gardening 😊
