    Forgot to add! My closet had 130 active listings at the time I was a host. That might help as a reference point when looking at the data numbers! 🥰

    I've been a host three times for the evening party... same results for everything you said! Not worth it unless you want to feel popular for a few hours lol.

      That’s really interesting to know, thank you! Because this was my first time, I wasn’t sure if the lackluster outcome was just because of the time and day that the party happened 😂 Good to know!!

    I agree with what you said about it being solely for the sellers, glad I saw this video so I don't have to feel like Im missing out on sales.

    Loved this video! I've always been curious about the "benefits" of being a host. This video reminded me of how I was so excited when someone chose my item as a host pick (I never went out of my way to ask for host picks as I don't entirely see the point of Posh Parties) and I was so excited and thought I would possibly make a sale. Yeah, that didn't happen. I think I got a few likes but the shoes ended up selling on Mercari weeks after the party lol

    Love this video and how you break down data in general. I noticed something about parties that I think contributes to then being flooded with sellers and no buyers: the parties are hard to find within the app. If you disregard the notification, trying to get back to the party is hard because it’s located AAAAAALLLLL the way at the bottom of the search page. If people are only using the search page to look for specific items, they’re not going to scroll to the bottom of the page to go shop a party and hope they can find what they’re looking for.

    I'm hosting my third party this afternoon, and it will probably be my last unless, like you said, they invite me to do the late night party with a more generalized theme. I have made friends on Poshmark since live shows have started, and it does give me a nice "Santa Claus" feeling to grant host picks to Posh pals, for sure. My love language is giving gifts, so it makes me happy to make others happy. I did follow all of my "host picks" after the last party to analyze if anything sold. I saw that 3 items out of 100 did sell within 2 days and I did get a thank you from someone saying she believes I was able to get her a sale on an item that had been sitting in her closet for a year due to being featured as a host pick. 3 out of 100, though. I have to say, I personally did not see an uptick in sales in my own closet while being a host, buuuut I did get a lot more "likes" than usual, that can eventually lead to sales, so there's that. I like having more eyes on my closet, anyway...ya never know who's lookin...

    I don't know any buyer who shops the parties. Typically buyers use the search bar to find the time they want. I understand that Posh tries to be a social platform, but none of my friends or family go to these "curated" parties. I think the parties are mainly sellers. Nobody is looking to scroll through a feed of mixed sizes and brands. If they want Nike leggings, they'll search Nike leggings. If they want a pair of Madewell jeans, they're gonna search Madewell jeans. I dont know who is showing up, ready to scroll through a "Perfect Denim" party, past a bunch of time& tru, old Navy, and forever 21, just to MAYBE find a style they like, from a quality brand, in their size. When they can just search what they want and scroll through a "curated" selection of items they're actually looking for.

    Today I finally found the clear bread bags at my local Walmart. Thank you for sharing in a past video the way you ship. This is going to save me a lot of $$$ from the way I was doing it before with zip-lock. And thank you for explaining the PoshParties. Also Thank you for sharing the inventory sheets, I am using them as well.

    I agree with everyone else - thank you for your honesty. Like you I’m curious about the benefits of being a party host which is how I found you. And, I’m really glad I did! I did already submit the application and I’ll wait the 4-6 months for a reply 😂. Do you know anything about the sellers that are ALWAYS a co-host? Just about every party I see the same 2-4 sellers and they have all have their comments turned off 😂.

    Girrrrl I feel ya 100%. I have had many of my items be selected as Host Picks and never once could I directly link a sale to an item being a HP. I also agree that the Posh Parties are mostly made up of sellers. It's like a very slightly more curated version of the feed - which hardly anyone ever shops. Also WHY does everyone (other users - not the Host who picked my item) feel the need to leave congratulatory emoji laden comments on Host Pick items? Are they looking for me to follow them? I think that's the thing I hate the most about getting a HP - the barrage of comment notifications that blow up my phone with people just saying "congrats". Great video as always!

    Thanks for this information. I've been on since 8/2016. I've been an Ambassador since 2017, yet just received Host Invite this year. I was always jealous that I wasn't being invited to HOST, but after this, I may only do one party just for the experience.

    100% agree with everything - I hosted two parties on Poshmark Canada within a week (hosting is not nearly as competitive on the Canadian platform; I got an email after my first host asking me to host again). One was a 7pm PST, and one was a 12pm PST party. Aside from the bump in shares and such there was no significant change in my offer or sales. In general I was just uncomfortable to have so many people reaching out to try and get me to pick their items. And yes, the party ends and everything goes blissfully quiet! The best part for me was sharing new closets, especially ones from my local area. I hoped it would encourage them a bit ☺️ Oh, I also rescheduled and the wait was just a week. They slated me to host a makeup party - I don’t wear makeup and know nothing about it so I wrote to them explaining and they rescheduled me for sweaters. Final misc party note - I once had a men’s blazer listing randomly chosen as a host pick (I didn’t seek out a share), and I sold two of them within 24 hours. After that the listing went back down to normal volume of likes, shares and sales. I attributed the sales to the party, but it could have just been coincidental since I’ve had similar blips happen with that listing since. At this point I’m not actively seeking to host again, but may say yes if I get another email asking me to host.

    Thanks for the info. I’ve been curious to know if sharing from my closet to parties puts those items at the top of the overall “just shared” search like it does when I share to “my followers” do you know anything about that? Also if I share other ppls listings to /from parties does it put their items at the top of the general “just shared” post?

    • @HannahAlonzo
      @HannahAlonzo  3 года назад

      Sharing other people’s listings doesn’t put it to the top of any search result or party feed. But sharing your own listings “to the party” still puts it to the top of search as if you were sharing it “to your followers” 😊

    I had an idea for a Posh experiment video 😁 the time of day you list your items.

    • @HannahAlonzo
      @HannahAlonzo  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! I’ve definitely sold items during party times but honestly, it’s so hard to tell if they’re connected! Because even when you share “to the party” it also goes to the top of search results. So it feels nearly impossible to tell if the sale came from someone shopping the party showroom or if they just happened to find my item by searching through the search bar 😕

    i hate being a host in real life lol it’s like no benefit and just a drain and you’re like why did i even offer to host.
    also if there is a host then there are leeches or parasites attaching to the host which again is of no benefit lol but thanks for putting in the effort and reporting the facts!

    • @HannahAlonzo
      @HannahAlonzo  3 года назад +2

      Hey there! I forgot to include that number in this video but I have anywhere between 130-150 active listings these days. I sell 1-2 items a day and source 10-15 items each week! I find that to be manageable for me as a one-woman show with another full-time obligation (student teaching)! 😊

    Thank you for this video!! I just hosted my first party a couple of weeks ago and I just got an invitation to host another one next week. I am seriously evaluating if it's worth it. I just got completely spammed! It was absolutely horrible! People were commenting these long paragraph sob stories(which I guess I'm doing right now, lol), flooding my listings with emojis and bundling items from their closet to me. Turned off my notifications! lol
    By the time it was over, I had to delete and reslist 2 items from my closet.
    And since then, my sales have had a little uptick. I'd say from 4-6 items a week to 3 and its only Monday...
    So, maybe I can just turn off notifications. Is posting a listing to my closet asking to not be spammed a dick move? lol

    You explain this VERY WELL!
    You seem like you’re very intelligent and have a lot of common. Appreciate your honesty. I’ve had host picks in the past. (Maybe 3 in my nearly 4 years) Never really wanted to be a host, but was curious about the benefits basically what are the pros and cons and you explain them again, very well!
