I LOVE these analytical videos! These are things sellers need to know. It’s a fantastic case study for various strategies and I appreciate that you have the patience and dedication to track and analyze the data 😍
Wow! One month of experiment, that is a lot of efforts, thanks for doing this. Very informative. This also shows that even if you send 40% offer, as enticing as it is, the liker will still not buy 😅
Great Video! I noticed that if I give a 20% offer first they come back with an additional reduced amount. Sometimes 30-40% lower. So I start at 10 -15% which allows me some wiggle room to come back again lower.
Thank you sooooo much for this video and info. I just started selling on Posh 2/4/21 and I didn't know how to send offers till about week ago and didn't know I could go back a month to send offers to Likers. I just went in and sent Offers in the middle of your video, some went through but about half did not, out of about 50, don't know why yet, still learning, but again Thank you soooo much.
Great break down of various selling strategies on PM. Sales is so interesting because some buyers need an incentive to buy ( discount ) while others will purchase an item for the listed price. The full price buyers seem to be brand new to PM who perhaps found the item through google search. The most important strategy is simply knowing your market. What is the demand for an item and the "average" sell price? Even comps will show that the same pair of Lululemon leggings has been sold at a range of price points. I believe everyone has different business models and that, plus condition of the item, is what accounts for this.
Super interesting stats. I may experiment with that last closet clear out strategy you encountered...doing it incrementally throughout the day (increasing the discount every 6 hours), but also with the intention of re-listing the next day if there are no takers on any of the offers sent. Is the current Closet Clearout shipping price $3.99 or $4.99? Wondering why Poshmark doesn't ever mention in their promo to sellers.
I think I might try it also! I’m very intrigued by that strategy. The shipping discount is usually $4.99 unless it’s a higher priced item (I want to say $50 or higher but I’m not totally sure) then the shipping discount is $3.99
Yeah. I am kind of in the perfect position to do it.. im ready to clear my inventory and move forward with a better business model and i think free shipping will definitely be my closets thing. Honestly, as a buyer I HATE paying shipping. 😂
Love this! Nicely done!!! And helpful! I keep trying to figure out the best way to do it - I usually don’t do a percentage, I just send out the $ amount that’s my lowest. I’m definitely too lazy to make bundles and leave comments in each one, but kudos to those folks! 😂 Anyway, your videos have been super helpful for me!!!
Thanks for another incredibly informative video!! I’ve just started my closet in the last few weeks, so your channel is an absolute goldmine🥰. I’m a Canadian seller, and our $13 shipping cost is something I add to the price of my item (in my head) so that the item + shipping makes a reasonable total. That’s how I look when I’m shopping, so it’s my “strategy”.
So happy you did this experiment. I do send a bundle offer for any likes & I always include a nice comment to the shopper. I usually do not offer a shipping discount with the offer because I try to send my very lowest offer possible. I feel like it helps them to feel like the discount will cover the shipping cost. Thank you.
Tons of research and work! Thanks for sharing with everyone. I will watch this repeatedly and even take notes next time. I' mew and still figuring out strategies. Good job.
Great Video Hanna! Some of the strategies you mention are been working for me. Like always give shipping discount or free shipping. Same have a lot of items in my closet for more I lower the price still not offer or sales. Julian yo will check your closet 🙂
Recently I've been sending offers with a bundle message but as of right now I don't feel like it has boosted my sales at all.. I also notice that most of my sales happen from people sending me an offer for my item and not the other way around
Omg this is perfect timing! I have literally been thinking about this lately because I have the same approach as you where I send out 20% off with discounted shipping but have been wondering how others do it! Thank you about to watch now lol
Loved the video! Thank you for so much information :) I just started reselling 3 weeks ago on Poshmark and have learned so much from your videos! I do the bundle thing and then comment, so good to hear that it’s a good strategy! Definitely have made some sells that way. People will respond sometimes and either ask questions or say thank you and purchase. Not always, but sometimes! And I do that in less than an hour from them liking.
I just started to watch your video...... Ugh this is my biggest question ever! And now i can find out girl! I want to thank you again for all of your experiments
Hi Hannah.Thank you for another great video! I'm the one who always sends offers to likers but rarely with any comments. I always thought that the comments might sound too pushy. Boy, was I wrong! I sent a comment on a bundle today and it sold within 2 minutes!
This was so informative! Love the time you took to give this info. I wonder how this will change especially with the CCO now that we can give a constant shipping discount directly on listings. Im hoping for more full prices sales but so far all Im getting is offers lol But in time I wonder how that will impact sales and pricing/offers strategies.
I usually add a message as well. The other day someone was very upset I sent them a message. They told me how liking an item isn’t supposed to be a big deal, and how they never buy from someone who sends them a message. They unliked the item. 🤣🤣
As a new seller, I wasn't aware that liking something meant I wanted it and wanted an offer. I feel horrible for "leading them on", but I had no idea that's what it meant.
That’s totally normal! I didn’t know either when I first joined because Poshmark looks similar to a social media app and at first I thought clicking the heart on something just meant I liked it!
Hi Hanna, what do you advice me to do, if an item i post on poshmark, gets 10 likes and i send offers but no one buys it? Literally i’ve tried sending all the discounts and nothing they dont buy it, so what do u suggest me to do?? Please help me
Thanks for such a comprehensive experiment! Your findings were so helpful. I include a personal message with each offer I send via bundle and I’ve seen some success with that approach. For those that don’t take my offer, however, how do you go back a day or so later and offer a deeper discount? Sellers have done that to me as a potential buyer, but I’ve not been able to figure out the best way to do that as a seller. Do you have to just try to remember what you’d offered them initially (or track it elsewhere) so that you’re sending them a better offer the next time? Thanks again!!
It’s pretty difficult to track the offers if you’re sending them through the bundle. I also add items to a bundle and leave them a comment but then I go back to the listing and send the offer through OTL. Buyers will only receive your offer if it is 10% better than the last one you sent. It is really easy if you use the 10% 20% 30% buttons on the OTL feature, but you’ll always get a notification telling you who received the offer so you can check to see if it was low enough to be sent to them again. Hope this makes sense! Kind of hard to explain by typing!
Do you ever calculate how much time the reselling process takes you (i.e., time shopping, checking comps, answering offers, packaging, post office) to see your average "wage"? I'd love to get into this part time but I want to make sure it's worth the time investment. Thanks!!
Very helpful as always! Thank you! You’re so right, 10% off offers never work and just waist precious time I would love your opinion on setting discounted shipping on the listing already!
Totally agree. I just got that feature to include the shipping discount in the listing a couple days ago so I haven’t tested it out too much yet, but I will report back! I think it would be helpful just so it’s one less button to click when sending OTL! 😂
I wish Poshmark would then somehow indicate that this seller has discounted the shipping of a particular item, kind of like the way it is on Mercari, but there, it is all, or nothing, for discounted shipping.
Great video thank you. I rarely get sales from offers to likers even at 20-30% first offer. However on Friday I figured I'd try the new shipping discount and offered 20% off with 6.99 shipping (I'm in Canada and our shipping is 12.99 before discount) anyways she bought the jacket. I lost $3 in calculated profit but I had sourced the jacket for $0.75 so I certainly still came out ahead. I appreciate your stats and look forward to your future experiments with the new shipping features. I'm wondering if adding the discount straight to the listing will bring more full price sales or if we will still be expected from buyers to send additional offers.
Great video as always! I'm trying understand sending an offer vs. making a bundle with an offer. If you send a bundle offer, does that give them the option to say, "Oh, cool! If shipping is only $**, then I'll add a few more things if you give me **% off of those, too."?
I usually lately have been collecting likes and sending Thursday or Friday nights its been mostly working better i have wanted to try the right after liking but to me that seems desperate?...tryna play it cool lol then again for impulse shipper strategy wouldn't work maybe
Relative to offering a 20% discount in lieu of 10% what are the implications for sellers listing attractive prices? Sellers may list an attractive price which would result in a "like." If the seller offers a 20% discount the result may be little or no profit. If the seller is forced to list an item at a higher price the potential buyer may not "like" the item. What percentage of a profit should be considered acceptable? A $10 profit in New York (where I am) may not seem as profitable in comparison to other parts of the country. What are some of your thoughts on this?
Very helpful info! I’m a new reseller just joined Poshmark and learning the platform so I’ll be watching more of your videos. I have to ask, What is the brand of that sweater you’re wearing? I just picked one up in black and gray because I thought it was cool but it doesn’t have a tag and when I stumbled across your thumbnail I clicked immediately just to ask you this! And now I’m a new subscriber! Thanks for this analysis! 🙏🏼
Hey there, thanks for watching! This one doesn’t have a tag either 🤯 I have sold 5-6 of them this winter and none of them had tags either, just size tags!
Wow! That’s interesting.. thanks for responding. I’m enjoying your content and I see you’re doing very well to be rather new on RUclips. Congrats and I’ll be hanging around learning from you.
They happen randomly a few days a week. You can check to see if it’s a closet clear out day by looking at the colorful box notification at the top of the news tab 😊
Yes! It will only show up on Closet Clear Out days, and today is one! You might have to refresh that news tab a few times for the CCO notification pops up, they cycle through a few different highlighted notifications up there.
I send discounts of half off or darn close all the time and my items are always priced the cheapest to begin with. And that is not counting closet clear outs or offers to buyers for that cheapest price. Those make the price even cheaper. I do not normally send shipping discounts because there's not a lot to work with after the discount at a couple bucks a piece at most in the bundle. I had one lady ask for a shipping discount the other day on a 5 and 6 dollar item I bundled for 6 bucks but there is no where to go on that. She did not take it but that's OK. Someone will somewhere eventually. I crosspost.
I’m just curious, I’m in Canada and I HAVE to offer a shipping discount if I want to send an offer. And I also have to send at least 10% off my item. Then if no one buys it and I want to send an offer again I can’t send the same offer, it Has to be even cheaper. But if I can’t remember what I sent that out for it just won’t go and I’ll get a notice in my newsfeed that the offer didn’t get sent to anyone. Sigh. So for example if I have a $20 item and shipping in Canada is 1299, it would cost you 3299 to buy it. If I want to send an offer I have to at least offer it at $18, which is the minimum required 10% off, and I HAVE to choose between 999 and 699 shipping. The discounted shipping price comes out of my profits. If no one buys it the next time I want to send an offer to someone I have to send it at $17 or less also still with discounted shipping. I feel like this just encourages overpricing things in the first place. Of course this is just for “regular“ items, not expensive stuff. There’s a little more leeway on there I suppose. All that to say, are you in the United States, and you don’t have to offer a shipping discount when you send offers to your Likers?
@@tleaftreasures1353 go to little suitcase by buyers pic, switch to sell view. When you go that way you don't have to offer shipping discount. the 10 percent is accurate though.
I always do 10% with free shipping. I noticed if it said Free shipping, things sold faster, and on most items, free shipping was worth more than the extra 10%.
Also, quick question... if my item isn’t priced to be able to give a 20-30% discount AND free shipping, do you think it’s more enticing to do 10-15% with free shipping or 20-30% with the $5.95 shipping? (I’m not mad at the $5.95 shipping option btw.... feels like it’s not taking much from me but throwing them a bone and making them feel like they at least got SOME kind of deal!)
You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about this for my own closet too! Because I definitely can’t manage 20-30% off and free shipping together. I’ve been thinking about testing them both out! As a buyer, my personal opinion would be that free shipping would be a more enticing notification to get!
Love your experiment videos, so much knowledge 🤔 Thank you. I have an experiment idea 💡 for you, if you like to try, Does listing everyday get you daily sales? I’m a new reseller myself always wondered that one. All the best ✨ Keep up the experiments, plz 🙌🏾👏🏾✨💕
Occasionally a buyer will request a shipping discount with their offer in a message like they sent an offer but they want a shipping discount too so they send the offer then send a message requesting a shipping discount. Why not send an offer for 2 dollars less instead? Their total would be less if their state has sales tax. And our fee would be lower. Not much for either but it adds up.
I was visiting your Poshmark page and noticed you had a listing that says “like this if you want to be notified when more listings are up”. How do you notify the likers when you put new listings up? Do you just share that post or?
I typically always send 20% off with discounted shipping. And eventually I go down to 30% if it’s been sitting for a while. But lately I’ve been trying to move some clothing, and have been sending 30% discount as my first offer. And I’ve noticed that I have gotten more people declining my 30% offer. I would send that offer, and within seconds the person would come back with the decline. I wonder if they think I’m eager to get rid of the item, and are hoping I come back with 40% off? I find it so interesting, and frustrating. Hahaha. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this as well?
That is super interesting!! I feel like I have also experienced this when sending heavily-discounted bundle offers, but I have no idea why they decline so fast 😂
Yes me too!! Good to now what our bottom price is and not shortsell ourselves- I've sold items quickly after re-listing, after sending multiple offers the first time I listed 🙄😂
I personally don't like sellers to make a bundle and send me a comment. I find it pushy just like an overzealous Salesperson in a store. Just send me an offer and I'LL comment if I have questions. But that's just me.

It’s pretty difficult to track the offers if you’re sending them through the bundle. Buyers will only receive your offer if it is 10% better than the last one you sent.

I feel like this just encourages overpricing things in the first place. Of course this is just for “regular“ items, not expensive stuff. There’s a little more leeway on there I suppose.
All that to say, are you in the United States, and you don’t have to offer a shipping discount when you send offers to your Likers?
@@tleaftreasures1353 go to little suitcase by buyers pic, switch to sell view. When you go that way you don't have to offer shipping discount. the 10 percent is accurate though.
All of this is the same in the US! 😊 As mentioned in the video, you can avoid sending discounted shipping if you send your offer through a bundle.
@@abennett8715 Wow, thanks I never knew that (obviously lol) . Very helpful!
@@tleaftreasures1353 you are welcome. :-)
I always do 10% with free shipping. I noticed if it said Free shipping, things sold faster, and on most items, free shipping was worth more than the extra 10%.
Great strategy!
So helpful!!!
Thank you for this info
Love your experiment videos, so much knowledge 🤔 Thank you.
I have an experiment idea 💡 for you, if you like to try, Does listing everyday get you daily sales? I’m a new reseller myself always wondered that one. All the best ✨ Keep up the experiments, plz 🙌🏾👏🏾✨💕
This is an experiment on my list!
I usually send first a 10% off offer but now I might consider going for 20%
Occasionally a buyer will request a shipping discount with their offer in a message like they sent an offer but they want a shipping discount too so they send the offer then send a message requesting a shipping discount.
I drop the price by 10% and all the likers get a notification of the price drop 😊
@@HannahAlonzo thank you so much!
I feel like I have also experienced this when sending heavily-discounted bundle offers, but I have no idea why they decline so fast 😂
if I have an item with a lot of likes but no one buy's at my lowest price I will relist it and start over
Yes me too!! Good to now what our bottom price is and not shortsell ourselves- I've sold items quickly after re-listing, after sending multiple offers the first time I listed 🙄😂
@@hiscanvasofgrace3391 yes and cross posting has helped too.
Thanks for all your videos!! Live everyone of them. Surprised Poshmark doesn't reach out and grab you for research or marketing!!! Keep it up!!
Yesterday I got an offer after 4 months of liking the item 🤣
NO WAY 😂
I personally don't like sellers to make a bundle and send me a comment. I find it pushy just like an overzealous Salesperson in a store. Just send me an offer and I'LL comment if I have questions. But that's just me.
Everyone is different and that’s okay! ❤️
I wouldn’t buy anything from a company with a name as silly as LuluLemon - sounds like a Nickelodeon toddlers program
