I'm connecting alone for the first time this video is very helpful thanks!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Thanks for leaving a comment :)
IM FREAKING OUT MAN!!!!!!! IM FLYING ALONE ANF I HAVEN'T BEEN ON A PLANE FOR LIKE 20 YEARS
Fuck, me too! 😄
Excellent video, I have just booked a flight with a connection and I was a bit worried about the connection times, all through one airline, been reassured and this video just out me further at ease... Sounds a lot easier than I had thought. Roll on my first connection flight
The common exception to this which is worth keeping in mind is when travelling to the US where you transit to another flight in the US. You need to pick up your baggage, pass through customs and recheck it at your first point of entry - even if you are on a single ticket.
Thank you for this information Martin. I haven't travelled through (or to) the US yet, so this is really good for me and others to know :)
Same in Brazil.
Notice that you don't need to check-in again, just pickup your bag after immigration and put it on a conveyor belt with some "transfer bag drop" or " connection baggage" sign, right after customs (if there is nobody at customs, so just walk by it).
thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for :) baggage claiming in connected flights and what if my first flight delays..
This video is so helpful as I was so worried as it's my first time in connecting flights and I didn't know what to do with my luggage. Thank you

No problem! Glad you found it helpful :)
superb, thanks...
Thanks a lot!!
Great vlog first of all! One piece of advice for travellers which I learnt the hard way. I was travelling between London and Stockholm and the day before I was due to go back to London I decided to go and visit a friend literally for the day in Umeå, but made sure the return flight to Stockholm would arrive in time to catch my London flight. I assumed because both flights were SAS that at Umeå they could check my bag all the way to London but because I booked the flights separately they couldn't so I had to collect my bag in Stockholm and re check in for London. At the baggage reclaim in Stockholm, my bag didn't show up and when I went to the desk, the clerk said it had most likely been left in Umeå and would be put on the next flight down. Then I really panicked, but in the middle of my panic and asking a million questions about what's and wherefores, it emerged from behind th desk. A wheel came off in transit and they took it straight to the desk to be claimed, only no one bothered to page me! Anyway, the lesson is, don't book separate flights even with the same airline because there's almost no chance they will check your bag all the way to the end destination
Great advice there, thank you! Sorry you had this issue, I would have been worrying about my bag too! Glad it all got sorted in the end though :)
Thanks for the advice!
Your voice so sweet that at one point i forgot what was the topic..😃
Thanks dear💕 I ll have connecting flight Singapore to Sydney its scare me since it's my first time... Thanks for this vidz 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻very informative thanks🙏🙇

Hi ! I love your videos.
Quick query- How does luggage works in connecting flight? I know that I am going to get both the boarding passes from source airport but I am really confused that where will I get my checked in baggage? I have a connecting flight . I am flying from Delhi(India) to bangkok(Thailand) and from bangkok to phuket. I am flying from thai airways. Can you please guide? Many thanks in advance :)
thanks i need that video .
thank you
What if my 2nd connecting flight is of different airline. Do i need to pick up my baggage ?
Just a query pls bowt check in luggage for a conection flight with diffrent airlines. Do i have to get my first flight check in luggage in the middle then go re-check in for the connecting flight airline?
Question: so if I’m flying the same airline for both flights, do i have to claim my baggage before getting on your connecting flight or will that be transferred for me? (I’m flying from CMH to ATL and then ATL to AVL)
hey if I'm flying from Baton Rouge to Los Angeles with a layover in Dallas, do I need to go to baggage claim and get my bag in Dallas or will it be transferred to the next plane?
I'm a 15 yr old about to go alone with two flights
Dude same and I’m low key ✨panicking✨
I’m going to Miami from the UK it’ll be my first time flying AND it’s a connected flight 🤣.
Not only am I flying alone, I'm a minor, connecting flights... internationally. I don't know what the hecc I'm supposed to do in my situation.
I have all the documents, but this gate talk...terminals... Customs.... immigration... it's freaking me out.
Edit: I'm connecting twice. What the fuck man. I'm connecting domestically first, then I'm going to Peru, and finally, New York. This is stressing me out big time
BEWARE of Baggage ripoffs IE: Interjet made us pay baggage fees again at Mexico city on a connecting flight from Toronto, to Mexico city, to Guadalajara on the same airline. Did not find any info on their website regarding this nasty surprise
My layover is in dallas, will it be at the same terminal/gate or will I have to go to another one
Hi, can we go out and explore bangkok city if I have 9 hour layour?
My flight is from Delhi to cebu via Singapore
Overlay of 3 hours ..airline is same..
So my question is ,do I have to collect my baggage in Singapore or it automatic transfer to my second flight
Do I have to go to security check up again as I already get all my boarding pass for my connection flight in the same airline or I have to go straight to my boarding gate for next flight ?
i have a connecting flight i have a 6 1/2 hr airport i wanted to know if i could leave the airporrt if so would i just have to go through tsa on the return or do i have to go through tsa customs and immigration. my return flight is kin-jfk-dtw
I'm now confused. I booked through a 3rd party. I have 3 connecting flights. Brussels Airlines/Thai Airline/Thai Airline. Does that mean I have to collect my luggage after my first flight?
Have u heard about Gatwick connect ?
Ty sm, btw. Do we need to go through security check in LHR which is my layover while traveling from India to Atlanta. ( usa) please reply . Lhr T5 to T5 c probably, arrival nd departure.
Hi. Im flying to LA this november from Saudi. I have lay over in Paris. I'll be in same airline. I wont have to go check my luggage in Paris right? And how will i knkw if i need transit visa?
If we have to reclaim luggage at connecting airport,do we need to go through immigration or it is located in the transit area, plz help me here.

Lol I'm watching all these things in anxiety for connecting flights I'll have to and from my destination lol
can someone please explain what customs is? is it part of security check??
What about if your check in pass is on the phone will there be to on there
Hi I'll be connecting from Houston to Washington DC and I'm so scared lol
You shouldn't need a visa for the country you are in
layover with unless you leave the airport to visit that country
until boarding your next flight RIGHT?
Hi mam i.am from Indian nice video mam
hai ,iam from india and i booked a flight from russia to india .next week i will go on it.but i havea probelm ,because flight ticket is booked with 3 seperate flight .so in every stop ,shall i need to clear immigration or not? becausi need to a luggage
Ugh... I wish I found this sooner... I rescheduled my flight bc I was going to miss my connecting flight and I didn't know they would be able to help... Ah well... only 1 day late
After baggage claim to re-check in again for next flight, I think this is called 'Self-Transfer'. Do I need transit visa ?
With 'Self-Transfer' normally flights are cheaper.
In other case when I don't need to baggage claim and recheck in. Airline will handle all kind of stuff and I will claim my baggage at destination. I know in that case I don't transit visa.
@@CM-pi6bi Yes visa required for Self-Transfer. But it also depends on that how strong passport do you have.
For the USA, I need to go through Chicago (from UK) and on to Columbus Ohio, will I need to go through customs (Border Control) or do I just head straight to the signs saying ‘connection flights??
Same , my connecting flight is in Detroit , Michigan and am i suppose to claim baggage because I’m going to Mexico.
If I have a connecting flight with the same airline and I miss my connecting flight, not because of a delayed flight or anything but I just miss it would they charge me for a new boarding ticket?
I think you need to buy a new ticket 😁
@@avitiusrufinus6980 Would you think they would make you pay for it though because u already payed for the other one. I think they would just get u booked on another flight?
@@LachlanKellett no, that's the whole point of self transferring, it's your responsibility..
@@hobo1704 I've been on Flights before where I missed the connection because of having to go to the Toilet or some other Small reason, they would just connect me on another flight, sometimes I've had to pay a small $5 dollar fee or something but really the ones I've missed I've been able to just get rebooked.
I have a connecting flight with a different airline. Will I receive both boarding passes at my first check in or at the check in at the second airport?
samar sarwari hey how did it go man? I have the same issue
You always receive the ticket when you check in, so no, you won't get the tickets together
i have a question if i fly from houston on united to lax i have a connecting flight from lax to Sacramento on American airlines i have an hour and something minutes to get to that connection how long does that take is there a shuttle bus or a way where i dont have to leave the terminal?
I'm really sorry but I have no experience of those airports to be able to answer your question. Have a look on the airport website as there is usually transit info. If not, give them a ring and ask :)
Nomadic Unicorn its okay thanks for the help though and taking time to answer my question.
You're welcome :) Hope all your flights go smoothly!
hey I am doing a connection/transfer at hamad int airport in September I am flying with Qatar all the way there but do I need to reclaim my baggage or does this get carried over thx my first time
Hey Robert! If you are flying the whole way with Qatar (great airline) I would say that your bags will not need to be reclaimed. The best thing to do is when you check-in for your first flight and drop your bags, just check with the airline staff on the counter to be 100% sure :) I hope you have a safe journey :D
thankx for the advice and am sure ill have safe journey thx so much
you're very welcome :)
Watching this while I lost my connecting flight smh 🙄

This is rip off from Psycho Traveller!!!!!!!!
My channel was extremely influenced by Aly (psychotraveller) in the early days, as her videos really helped me to get myself sorted before my own trip to Australia. It inspired me to create videos with an aim to help other travellers and to document my own adventures, for family and friends and for others to follow. I have told her this personally, as well as mentioned it in one of my Q&A videos I believe. There are similarities in my earlier videos I agree, whilst I was trying to settle into my own style. However, this mini series was not a "rip off" the episodes were based on a step by step process that I took when booking my first trip, that I thought would be helpful to others. There are certain topics that will be covered by many people because they are important or nerve wracking....like trying to work out how to catch a connecting flight for the first time.
