@@dhilsiva I don't have personal experience with the Pixel 3. For me the difference was not worth spending €150 more. It also really depends on the quality of the refurbished phone. Like, how old is it? Which components were replaced? (Battery, screen, housing) How good is the refurbish company?
@@dhilsiva I bought a barely used Pixel 3 for 420usd, only a little more than a 3a. I do play a lot of games on my phone, so I would probably notice the difference is processing power, but you might not. The cameras are nearly indistinguishable. The battery life on the 3a will probably be better than the 3 due to the slightly larger battery and more power efficient processor. I wouldn't count on water resistance on a refurbished unit so that's not quite an advantage. Wireless charging is not very useful most of the time because it's so slow. The 3a will be more durable courtesy of the plastic body. The 3a also has a headphone jack, but the 3 speakers are so nice to have front facing. If you really want the front facing speakers, wide angle selfie cam, or wireless charging, go for the 3. If you want a more durable phone with a headphone jack, 3a is a better buy.
Totally agree. I’ve recently switched from the Apple iphone6S to a Google 3A XL and though I am still getting used to the Android system, I find it a beautifully appointed phone for what I personally need.
Great video and a absolutely amazing phone. The pixel 3a does everything a smartphone can do without costing a fortune and comes with probably the best phone camera I’ve used. I have this handset myself and wouldn’t be without mine. I can also recommend the Samsung a50 as another standout phone which is similarly impressive for the price but I personally prefer the pixel 3a for my daily device. I like the clean pixel software experience as opposed to the skinned versions of android which although great just clutter the os mostly which can affect performance and eat up storage. Pixel 3a will be a huge success for google and the pixel brand.
I'm so getting one of these. I'm a Motorola G series fan. My G5s plus has been dropped like 40 times. Still kicking after almost two years. But it's time for another phone. Pixel 3a XL it shall be.

I'm actually very happy with my Pixel 3 XL but at the same time, I'm just has impressed with the Pixel 3a. The battery life on the 3a is EXTREMELY impressive. My friend is averaging approximately 5.5 hour screen on time (and I'm NOT exaggerating) and the camera and software experience of the 3a is almost on par with my Pixel 3 XL. Granted, he doesn't play games on his phone, so that might save some battery. If you're not a "spec geek" (as I am), then I would HIGHLY recommend the Pixel 3a (or Pixel 3aXL if you like bigger screens) to anyone asking "what mid-range phone should I buy?" Also, FYI, Pixel 3a and 3aXL are both now able to beta test Android Q as of beta 4.

In Canada the prices are still hefty for these mid range phones. We can now purchase "ON SALE" for around $700.00 (vs. your 399 price) in leu of the new release of a 4 and 4XL mid Oct 2019.
Great review, dude! Keep it up, you've earned a sub! I'm currently struggling between the S10+, Zenfone 6, and Pixel 3a XL. I currently own a Pixel 2 but even after having it for a year, I can't get used to the removal of the headphone jack. I love stock Android, so the Pixel and Zenfone are probably the better candidates but I live in a very sunny area and my Pixel 2 is so hard to see during the day. I should be able to see the map while driving at the very least. The 64 gigs of storage is a bummer as well, considering I'm already at 59 on my 2. But then again, OneUI is kinda... meh. It's much better than TouchWiz but it comes nowhere near to the fluidity and cleanliness of stock. Ahhhhh, why can't there be a perfect phone!! >:(
Thanks so much, man! Sounds like your only issue with getting the Pixel 3a is the lack of a microSD card slot. Maybe you can go for the Moto Z4 if storage is an issue? What's taking up most of your storage, anyway?
Lots and lots of HQ Spotify downloads and a couple of games. I would just stream Spotify, but I have a limited data plan and don't want to use it all up while driving. If I really nitpick, I can download songs at a lower quality and save a lot of space but 64 gigs just seems so small in the long run. I have considered the Moto Z4, but I heard the fit of the mods isn't the best. I also found the camera to be kinda meh. I also feel like the Zenfone 6 is just a better buy over it (SD 855, extra camera lens, no notch, stereo speakers). I gotta compromise at some point, I guess...
@@aer0fficial the Zenfone 6 is a really good choice except for the size. I'm using a Zenfone 3 for the past 23 months and I have no complaints whatsoever except for the size. It's 7.4 cm wide and I don't find it that comfortable. The Zenfone 6 is even wider at 7.54 cm and taller. That's why I'm looking for a narrower phone. The Pixel 3, 3a, and the Samsung S10e are the ones I'm considering.
First time watching your video thanks for explaining in depth about this phone I planned on switching tommarow trading in my LG g6 I'm definitely going with this for sure
One tip. Get a clear, or white protective CASE. White is the best visibility, both day and night. You don't tend to leave it on a table--your eye catches it. And same with finding it, if you are not sure where you put it down--you find it.
I am interested in getting this phone, is the brightness an issue? It looks like you had it on full brightness and it didn't seem the best. Also that might hurt 🔋 life. Any comments on that?
It's pretty good, definitely much better in person. Sorry, it's hard for me to accurately showcase the brightness of displays in my videos because of my lighting equipment.
@@hoyoungwon no need for the apology. Thanks for the quick reply! Do you have to always have it on full brightness? It's not a big deal if the battery life still runs well. I currently have a Nexus 6p and it's given me a lot of issues including the fact that it made me delete everything and restart. Also the other day it died on 70% and when I restarted it it had 2... I did a ton of research on the Nexus and it was expensive but it goes to show that's not always important. So I won't be spending so much on a phone anymore needless to say. Thanks again!
I tend to have it around 70-80% brightness throughout most of the day. Though keep in the mind that the brightness slider has massively changed on Android since Android Pie. So, you can't compare 70% on Pie with 70% on Oreo. Hope this helps and I'm glad my video gave you some insight! Thanks for watching 😊

Definitely liked and agree with you. I appreciate that you gave a true, honest review man. I'm planning on getting this phone in less than a month on Spectrum Mobile, and thanks to you, you helped me lock that in. I just subscribed to you as well. Thanks again man.
Have one and love it with 2 caveats: 1. Picture in picture is buggy on this phone. Especially the one you get with RUclips. 2. Finger print reader is annoyingly inaccurate. Slightly greasy finger and it doesn't work. Went to it from a v30 and it's very frustrating. Because I get worse audio, no removable storage and an annoying fingerprint reader. But I'm now stuck because once you go pixel camera, you just can't go back.
The first reviewer to mention that the audio port makes more sense at the bottom. I don't see it being plastic as a negative one bit, lighter and better at taking a drop, not a fan of the gloss though. If I was to buy a phone with a screen that is just way to big to be what I consider practical like this, I would buy it. No more samsungs for me in my life time, 3 strikes for hardware failure and your out. I am amazed that no one makes modern speced phones under 5 inch anymore....
I have a Samsung S8+ and have just swapped for the new Pixel 3A. I don't actually mind the smaller screen, but I can tell the difference in pixel density. I also miss wireless charging and water proofing. The Pixel 3A is still as fast as the aging S8+, despite having less power. The night site camera is astounding!

Pixel 3a is awesome. I prefer it over my S10e and I don't miss any features.
Jamie S I'm debating on getting a phone, and was thinking of the S10e, what made you switch from the S10e to the 3a?

@@zFinalBozzGames I have the same question too.
@@zFinalBozzGames Mainly the camera and software updates. The S10e is still a great phone but you can't beat the Pixel camera.

@@thakurboys5962 Really? It's not as if there weren'T any reviews out there, right? It's the same camera as in the Pixel 3 which is still one of the best cameras, single lens or not. Photos are f****** amazing. For the pricepoint this is a miracle camera downright.

Thanks to the success of the Pixel 3a you can now find the regular Pixel 3 for 499 bucks if you look around (an improved version with faster CPU, GPU, wireless charge, water resistance, Pixel Visual Core, front-facing stereo speakers, a premium build and free online backups of video and photos in original quality until mid-2022).

The best Pixel 3a review on RUclips!!!
Aw shucks 😊
Bought the 3a a week ago to replace my Lumia 950, its so good. Finally a phone with a good camera for a normal price.
Reasons I bought it:
- camera
- updates
- price
- width of 70 mm
- repairability
Now I can start experimenting with putting full Windows on the Lumia :P
I'd love to see that 😀
Should I get this or the Pixel 3 (refurbished)? Both are the same price in my country.
@@dhilsiva I don't have personal experience with the Pixel 3. For me the difference was not worth spending €150 more.
It also really depends on the quality of the refurbished phone. Like, how old is it? Which components were replaced? (Battery, screen, housing) How good is the refurbish company?
@@eindeend the only one I know is the name of the place I'm buying it from. It's CeX.
Solid review! I'd absolutely trade up from my Nokia 6 to the Pixel 3a in a heartbeat.

Thanks so much man! That means a lot 🙂
I enjoyed your review and accompanying humour! I have a Pixel 3a and I think you nailed it! Thank you.
Finally, a review done by someone other than a Samsung fanboy.
I picked up the 3a XL as I wanted the larger battery and screen and am very happy.

I'm also using a Moto Z Play at the moment and am considering this phone (the XL version) but damn only having 64GB of storage is kind of a downer for me. Currently struggling between this and the Moto Z4 lol
The Moto Z Play holds a special place in my heart, but the Pixel 3a is a worthy upgrade, my friend. Do it!
I'm in the exact same boat. The Moto Z4 has a bigger screen, expandable storage and a decent camera plus I've gotten used to Moto Actions. But I'm also not excited about it. Let me know what you end up choosing.
Go with the Pixel 3a. You won't regret it. Keep in mind that you'll also get timely security and software updates for three years. No more waiting and wondering when you're getting the next big Android update.
Made the jump to the 3a XL and I couldn't be happier!
Great video! So I just saw the Galaxy s10e (Verizon model) on sale at Best Buy for $550. At that price point, would you still prefer the Pixel 3a?
Yep! I'd still take the Pixel 3a. The Galaxy S10e does have an edge in terms of hardware (except for maybe the camera quality), but you'll basically have the same experience on the Pixel 3a with faster and longer software support while saving $150.

Completely agree with your video comments! I purchased the Pixel 3 XL and my freind just recently purchased the Pixel 3a.

I just got mine for €179. Amazing black Friday deal
@@hoyoungwon no problem, you have gained a new sub for sure. Thanks for enlightening me. Although I'm not aware of the brightness changes from Oreo to 🥧. I might have to look into that.

How do uou make your phone stand like that in the intro?
On cyber Monday I really wanted the pixal experience so I picked up the 3a XL for 4oo.oo bucks tax included. This is a very fun phone. The 670processer works well with no lags or stutters. The camera, OLED display, stereo speakers and even the jack? The software is very good so for the price why buy a g-whizz phone. I highly recommend this phone!
Definitely liked and agree with you. I appreciate that you gave a true, honest review man. I'm planning on getting this phone in less than a month on Spectrum Mobile, and thanks to you, you helped me lock that in. I just subscribed to you as well.
Thanks again man.
Have one and love it with 2 caveats:
My pixel 3a is quite quiet through the speakers. Any idea why or how to fix it?
