As a parent of multiple children, this is my go to phone...for them. I do want a bit more performance so I'll get a true flagship for me. My previous go-to would have been a used/refurbed older generation pixel. Compromises in the right places for the experience they want at a price I'll gladly swing. PS. Not that you need my validation, but it's no accident you're in your spot. You are so good at these tech reviews. Keep on keepin' on!
I agree, with the go to phone for children, not the being a parent of them part. Depending on the parents I would suggest it for them too, my Mom definitely cares more about the camera in her phone than the speed, the maybe half second speed difference for half the price on the Pixel 3 is very compelling.
As a parent of multiple children, you really musn't get them all their own new phones if they are under 13, and if they are over 15 they should get it themselfs. Also why would you need more performance? The only ever use is if you constantly play new games... Nothing else needs better performance
I think the intent was more to show that his thoughts reflect the actual oft-advertised starting price model, rather than one of the higher-end variants.

Same, the OG XL here. Two years and above, still getting almost 4-5 hours of SoT too. LMAO. Keep checking at these new phones though, the 3a does look good but something feels still off, like even if the camera photo quality was totally identical with the Pixel 3, I would have considered. But zooming in, one should be able to notice the minor details lost on the 3a photos, along with the cooler/bluish colour output too, which looks terrible. The video quality too isn't the same. And the front camera is basically really poor compared to Pixel 3. So the cameras are NOT really identical. I wonder how better these cameras are at night time compared to our OG Pixels, because I can bet at daytime OG and Pixel 3 will be pretty much indistinguishable.
I originally recommended the 3a XL to my mother - and offered to buy one for her for Mother's Day - which she turned down! (Said it would cost ME too much!) She did, however, purchase a refurb/recertified original Pixel for herself last month. Her big thing is pictures.

I just bought this phone the other day and I'd have to say I'm happily impressed. I haven't had any issues with slow down or lag the screen is beautiful the battery is great and Google assistant is a lot more helpful than Siri.
I got it too and while many people are saying the 670 is too slow, I've played some heavy games like PUBG at medium settings and it didn't overheat or anything, and battery life is pretty great for me also.
I find it funny how people make a big deal about wireless charging but.., I’ve never used it so it really doesn’t matter for the Priceline my opinion lol
It's good for batter life and if your using your phone for actual productivity like I use it when I'm using samsung DeX cause it uses alot of power. Or When I sleep at night cause it puts less strain on your battery
When you break your phone and -- 1. Say shoot - it is a cheap phone 2. Swear up a storm - it is a budget phone 3. Cry a litttle and suffer mild depression - it is an expensive phone 4. Contemplate jumping out of the window of an 8 story building - it is Stupid expensive phone. I love the Pixel 3a!
I still think this original entry into the "a" series of Pixels is probably still the best one for its time. I was truly blown away by how much you got for your money with this phone. It was the first non flagship phone I had owned where I genuinely didn't feel like I was missing out by not opting for the flagship. It was everything I needed a smartphone to be, and despite being less than a third the price of the big flagships, its camera and software were pretty much top of the range.
I'm a proud owner of a 3a too. It's currently the most experimental phone. There's so many ways you can modify it. I'm thinking of downloading Ubuntu touch on it as it's not my main phone anymore
I always love your videos. You´re really good at giving explanations and getting across messages. It would be great if you make one about digital voice recorders. I love them, well, some brands....
I'm writing this on my pixel 3a and I love it except for the screen durability. If you drop it from about 1-2 feet above the ground, there's a very good chance of the screen scratching. Keep in mind that it uses Dragontrail glass instead of Gorilla Grass like most phones on the market.
This may be a bit unrelated, but my 5Ts original screen protector recently broke and I'm quite dissatisfied with the third-party ones I've tried. Do you happen to have also needed to replace your screen protector by now? Any recommendation would be appreciated.

SpreckleFloss you shouldn’t really get your children new phones every two years, I’m 15 and I’ve had the same phone for 4 years
I agree, with the go to phone for children, not the being a parent of them part.
Get a cheap 150$ xiaomi phone for your children those are great for the money
Your children are definitely spoiled, have them get it for themselves or get them something more affordable.
Nice jab from Marques there with the "I PAID for this phone 399" just to remind us that Google didn't send him a review unit.
I think the intent was more to show that his thoughts reflect the actual oft-advertised starting price model, rather than one of the higher-end variants.
Google has been stealing money from consumers. Their products are plagued with a lot of problems. From hardware to RMA. I would not buy this phone even if it's priced for a $100. 2:01, that's where the phone should be at.
Im still using this phone, it's been a good 4 years. Will be upgrading soon tho.
Okaay... Travis Scott AJ 1's in the background and you're rocking the AJ1 Defiant. I see you 🧐Someone maybe needs to start reviewing sneakers lol..
I'M POSSIBLE No. idk how we even have people who review sneakers that can’t even wear performance shoes for what they were designed for. To plays sports. It’s like reviewing a sports car in the city. Pointless.

I'm still here with my OG Pixel, its life still going strong.
I wonder how better these cameras are at night time compared to our OG Pixels, because I can bet at daytime OG and Pixel 3 will be pretty much indistinguishable.
i love my og pixel xl! it's in perfect condition still and it might last another 2 years if supported then.
Shidd i still got my nexus 6p going strong with no problems
my OG Pixel Xl decided it wanted to die today. It keeps freezing and get stuck in bootloops.
OG Pixel XL here too. Working great still!
*I believe we either need more cheap phones or we find a way to use the power of our flagship phones, I guess companies picked the first one*
Samsung picked the latter for their flagships rocking dex
Take a look at samsungs a70
I might recommend it to my mum... She uses her phone for photos, calls, messages and youtube. Think it will be perfect for her.
She'll love the phone and the extra $600 in her pocket 😂
I originally recommended the 3a XL to my mother - and offered to buy one for her for Mother's Day - which she turned down! (Said it would cost ME too much!) She did, however, purchase a refurb/recertified original Pixel for herself last month. Her big thing is pictures.
I was thinking of suggesting this or the samsung galaxy 10e to my mother.
99% of people use their phones for this.
Most people dont do gaming, any mid range phone is good for 99% of things that 99% people do on a regular basis: youtube, Facebook, regular apps and porn. Non of that requires a flagship processor or graphics. You can totally run Candy crush on a mid-range phone.
